We hade a wonderful time at Axum Restaurant Leeds . Their food is amazing and we’ve been enjoying. Thanks for all stuff.

We’re Ethiopian and love to eat at Ethiopian restaurants all over the world. The food here was not good. It was lukewarm (with the exception of the hot shiro) with the lentil dish looking dry. Whilst the injera at the restaurant was good. The extra injera we paid for had white mould and was hard. Unfortunately we only realised this when we got home, and opened the package. Perhaps we were unlucky on this visit. It was our second time here. The first visit, over a year ago, was better. We’ll not visit again to find out.

Delicious food for meat eaters, veggies and vegans. Friendly staff. Good music. Would go again any day.

We were made to feel so welcome here - thank you! The food was delicious; we ordered the vegan sharing platter and a lamb dish to share between two of us - more than enough to leave us both very full!

Spectacular food of a kind I have never tried before. We had the ‘Axum special’ which meant we tried a bit of everything. The Injera - a traditional Ethiopian bread/pancake served with the food - was really unusual and great for mopping up the amazing flavours of all the different dishes served. The staff explained what all the dishes were and were very helpful and attentive. A great place would throughly recommend.

Absolutely incredible! Really nice place and great food. Such a great price. I live in the south of England, it is worth the 4.5 hour drive just to try this place. Really awesome people and really lovely place, highly recommend!

Set your expectations for the decor. We knew going in it’s going to be more of a ‘homely’ vibe rather than a fancy restaurant setting. Server was amazing. Good recommendations from the menu for first timers. Gave us a choice of tea to taste from which was a lovely touch. Only quibble was that they didn’t get our reservation. So had to sit by the bar- didn’t affect our experience in the end. The ‘bread’ had a sour tinge for my taste- but the rest of my party didn’t mind/notice it. Overall, would come again and try different things on the menu.

Great food, especially the coffee ceremony. We were very looked after and we’re highly recommended a dish which was brilliant!

The food is excellent, had been here a few times and tried a variety of options. Each one is excellent and they have great injera. Great owner who is always happy to see you. The service is very friendly and welcoming. Fantastic place and the dog loves the people and food here.

Very good Ethiopian food. Great options for vegetarians and for spicy food lovers (be careful). Owner was very friendly and kindly explained their food and how best to enjoy it. Highly recommend

Really delicious food... We've been at least four times now. The veggie combo and the Axum special are both great selections if you're not sure what to have. Really friendly staff - ask for the Ethiopian coffee!

The food at Axum is so delicious and also great quantity. The staff were really friendly and even gave me some more injera with the leftovers I took home with me. Would definitely come back if I were to visit Leeds again.

We were a big table for a Christmas party and despite there being lots of us the food was tasty, the staff were friendly and we will most definitely be going again. A few of us ordered the vegan combo and it was really good!

We had never had Ethiopian food before and were a bit apprehensive. The gentleman who served us was so friendly and helpful. He helped us choose a sharing platter which was really delicious. We were made to feel very welcome. Very good value for money.

Absolutely delicious. I really love Ethiopian and Eritrean food so finding somewhere in Leeds this good was great. Plus helpful service with a smile and excellent value. Cracking.

Axum is my absolute favorite restaurant in Leeds. Food is great and specious place to chat. Can’t wait to come back again and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, for some one who is looking try something different in Leeds.

First time I’ve ever had Ethiopian food and it was absolutely incredible! <3 Service was brilliant, everyone so friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again. One thing I would suggest is if you want to appeal to English diners, then allow a ‘bring your own wine’ option or get better wines as the red wine I had wasn’t very nice. Apart from that, 10/10 would recommend. The Axum special was out of this world. Brilliant

Incredible food, guaranteed to leave full (or with a bag of leftovers!). Really great atmosphere with wonderfully welcoming staff. Can recommend the Ethiopian beer, really crisp and refreshing, and the coffee ceremony with incense and popped corn is definitely something to try! Love this place!

Brilliant restaurant serving delicious food! We have the vegan combo and shiro every time we come and it's always excellent. The staff are really friendly and helpful....last night we were brought a pot of hot sauce to try from the chef after mentioning that we like our food spicy. Plus shots of an aniseed liqueur! We'll be back! Thank you Axum.

Food far too spicy for me... Inedible to my palate. No cutlery... No hand wipes or towels provided. Meat half raw... Didn't state raw meat on menu and waitress never said it was supposed to be like that or indicated it should be. Won't visit again I'm afraid.

This is a fantastic independent restaurant that serves delicious food and it is very reasonably priced. The portions are huge, it's all fresh and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

A lovely place to eat! The food tasted amazing! They have a range of veggie or meat options to choose from. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, always happy to help.

It was very quiet Sunday lunch, so lacking a little atmosphere. It's Ethopian cuisine and we were pleasantly surprised how tasty it was. Serving was very generous. One main course was plenty for 2 people sharing. Will definitely visit again to try different dishes.

So. Good. Went here on my lunch break, food was fast, hot, fresh and affordable just everything you would want and the service was 5 star. I left super happy and stuffed.
