Friendly enough service and restaurant was nice enough looking. We used a tastecard to get 2 for 1, there were 3 of us so saved on one meal. Really expensive for what you get. I ordered beef bourguignon and it was dry, no gravy, barely any veg so basically beef (that had some fat on it still) plus a small serving of mash. For £25, you’d expect more. My husband and daughter had burgers & chips, ok, not big portions and over priced for what they were. Wish we had gone somewhere else.

I had a wonderful time with my friends, although the entrance was a bit confusing. However, once inside, we enjoyed calamari and shared plates, which included slices of ham, pieces of bread, and olives. Everything was delicious. If you find yourself travelling through London Waterloo, then this place is definitely worth the stop. Although its prices are on a par with somewhere like the Boulevard Brasserie, the food isn't quite ip to the same standard. HOWEVER, this is more than made up for by the quality of service and the friendliness of the staff. I was served by the delightful Kaira and thoroughly enjoyed conversing with the Italian lady at the bar, whose name I forgot to ask. I genuinely felt welcome, and for this reason alone, I would not hesitate to return. The food was good: I enjoyed the Provence-style mussels, with fresh baguette. The portion was particularly generous and steaming hot. Although I didn't visit, I understand that there is an upstairs terrasse. The background music was pleasant as too was the atmosphere. Seating was comfortable and spacious. I look forward to revisiting in the evening when I don't have to rush back to the office!

I really liked the food at the resturant and the atmosphere but the service could be improved. Although initially we were not ready to order. I believe our server forgot and I had to go to the bar to remind them that we were interested in ordering our mains. Also, I was entitled to a discount on the entire meal (which was honoured). However, I would prefer if it is not mentioned to my guest since it is none of their concern what I actually pay. Rather than say its 2 for 1 so you can have a second starter just say we would like to offer you an additional starter on the house. Otherwise, it was a good experience and I would return.

We chose this for a festive dinner with friends near Waterloo but never again. The restaurant was half empty upstairs but service was swift and friendly. No luck with the festive menu as they already had no turkey by 6.30pm! The food was bland and reminiscent of the 1980s. I don't know whether the chef was just missing that night but my nachos were just cold crisps with hard sour cream and salsa, the chilli con carne reheated plain mince, rice and kidney beans. It's actually good to remember that London still has some rubbish places! Never again , shame as our waitress was engaging

I would not recommend this place. The atmosphere was unpleasant, and the food was quite average. What made it worse was that it was a special night out for my husband and me, as we have two little babies and rarely get the chance to go out. However, we felt rushed through our meal, and it was evident that the staff wanted to close early. Despite their website stating a closing time of 9 pm, around 8 pm, they informed us that they would be closing very soon. Landed up at this place on a hot Saturday lunchtime, purely by chance. Judging by the name, wall posters, menu, and £8 offer for two bottles of Kronenbourg, the place has French pretensions. Appetites suppressed by the heat, we opted for a charcuterie platter and a side of vegetables-all faultless. To top it all was the attention from Davis, our Latvian barman/server, whose efforts surpassed expectations. Will try the roof terrace next time.

We used to come here back in the late 90s and early 00s as it was a lovely restaurant, with good food, especially the mussels, so we booked to come here with that in mind. We were really disappointed last night to find that it was nothing like it was then, and in fact the food was awful. We had spring rolls for starters which were basically the small cheap party food type that you can get from Iceland; and chicken goujons which were the Iceland type again. Then came the moules mariniers with cream: just horrible! The cream had curdled, the mussels were small and of cheap quality (probably Iceland again) and there was barely any sauce - we genuinely couldn't eat it. Thankfully the staff were wonderful and refunded our meal. I don't know if they had an off night or if management has changed in the last 20 years but we sadly won't be returning.

We finished our meal with crème brûlée . The bill for two people came to under £80 which is incredible for the quality and quantity of food and drinks. On arrival it was a tad confusing as the stool in front of the stairs leading to the first floor had a sign saying order downstairs, which wasn't the case, as we ordered and ate on the first floor. Strange that the house red was an Italian wine, considering a French inspired (not French restaurant). The one (and only) highlight was the starter, which arrived fairly quickly but the same can't be said for the main (beef bourguignon, which we both had), which took its time, with maybe one mushroom between the two portions, hardly a carrot in site, no bacon to speak of and certainly no baby onions. The desserts were ok. This could have been mitigated had there been a slight effort with the service. The two lads appeared disinterested in their Saturday evening job (maybe wished they were elsewhere), so none of the expectations you get with service. No-one asked us if we enjoyed our meal (at any stage) and we were sat with no food or drink (including water), for a while. maybe its because we used a taste card (which I was surprised on a Saturday eve) but nonetheless we will not be returning. It was so bad we didn't leave a tip, when we are usually in the 10-15% range!

The young lady behind the bar apologised when I challenged the prices and it was clear this isn’t an unusual situation to be challenged. In retrospect we should’ve just walked away, but the shock of the situation meant money changed hands. Avoid these scammers at all costs. Leffe is a readily available drink as is Baileys and it would’ve been a fraction of the price at nearby pubs. Please don’t go here, I beg you. Reading other reviews they’ve passed off mint tea as hot water with a couple of mint leaves. The phrase tea leaves is all so very apt with this hovel.

Lunch time menu here has great value options for central London. It’s tucked away down a side street close to Waterloo station but it’s worth finding. The warm welcome and friendly service throughout and the value for money lunch choices mean I’ll definitely visit again.

We stumbled upon this after leaving the station. The service was lovely and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a taste-card and we’re able to use 241. The steak was delicious and overall the food was great. We stayed four some drinks before heading to the theatre. I would definitely recommend Auberge and would almost certainly return again.

The staff here are so lovely they feel like friends. The food itself may not be fine dining however if you’re looking for a tasty yet humble breakfast/lunch I would highly recommend this cafe. I have
