Been here quite a lot but noticed prices have went beyond. Coffee and shortbread biscuit with few cranberries and few pistachio £8.15. Worked out £4 for biscuit.

Service is very good, food is great, tasty and nicely presented but the cost of meals is unfortunately going through the roof! Two German biscuits cost £9!!! They are £4.50 each which is extortionate and seems just a bit greedy. We won't buy them again. Also, the lunch of scampi, soup, tea and coffee and the two biscuits was a staggering £43!!!! Rather too much for what we got. Very disappointed as I love the venue.

Mixed review. This place really could be 5 stars if it made a few changes. Food - the food was really good and quality ingredients are used. Slightly over priced however and being charged £1.50 for a tiny pot of mayonnaise when you're paying nearly £20 for a burger isn't a great touch. Service - On a whole really poor. The barrier at the entrance isn't welcoming at all. Luckily the queue was small when we arrived otherwise we would have been waiting outside, exposed to the elements. We waited 5 minutes at that barrier before a member of staff acknowledged us. One woman (who I assume was the manager) was unfriendly and not very accommodating when she seen we had a pram, we were told there was no room for a pram at the table. Fair enough but she was really blunt and it almost felt like she was giving us this excuse so we would leave (had it not been for the fact we had a table booked for a group of 8, we probably would have). Some of the servers were really good & friendly. Others looked uninterested and when asking for dessert menus it seemed as if it was an inconvenience to them. Ambience and Décor - really smart, nicely decorated. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Farm Shop - Not really a farm shop at all in all honesty. Yes, most of the produce is from local suppliers but there's very little you couldn't pick up from a Eurospar for cheaper. To me a Farm Shop sells produce from the land it's on or very close by. I lived in the Cotswolds for a number of years and have seen Farm Shops done right, I can't say this was 1 of them. I can't say I'd currently recommend this place, and I'm not sure I'd be back. The service really lets this place down. When a place is busy, that's when good Hospitality staff thrive. Unfortunately most of the staff here seemed to crumble under a busy lunchtime service and the rudeness of the manager seemed to rub off on the rest too. Get rid of that barrier too, a please wait here sign is sufficient.

The queue to entrance was awful slow on Saturday 29th March, waiting 30 mins, and to make matters worse it was very cold outside. Lunch was served very quickly, but we had to wait 30 minutes on coffees and a traybake as it seemed they had forgot about us and the serving staff told us it had been extremely busy. It made us wonder is this why queue so long outside as it takes too long to wait on a coffee.

I went once after it was advertised as “dog friendly”. I brought my dog’s dish as it was a warm day and we sat outside for lunch in the tent. When I was ordering lunch I asked for some tap water for the dog for them to tell me they didn’t supply tap water and that only bottled water was available. So I had to buy an expensive bottle of water. The food was average and very expensive. I’ll never be back.

So today my friend and I visited Ashvale. We were seated in the orangery today. Can I just say a thankyou to the three members of staff who were working in there today. You were all so friendly and attentive. We called in towards the end of lunch... It was busy and there was a vibrant atmosphere Can I take a moment to say you all work so hard. As we were enjoying our meal my friend and commented on the comadarie between the staff. So good to hear the sound of laughter. The place is kept clean which is so important. We thank you for that. It tells me that the staff care and take absolute pride in their work and place of employment.... Well done

The restaurant is nicely done, the staff there are very nice, and the food is really good! Their award winning bread is quite delectable! For dessert, I highly recommend the banoffee! Arrived at 11.30, had only been once before and vaguely remembered an issue with the entrance door. Went to the most obvious door, which had a sign saying use opposite door, looked to opposite side and it didn't look like a door, no handle, no "open" or "enter here" sign so walked through the farm shop. Waited for a server at the porch area to be told we had to wait until a couple that walked in the no sign door were seated (server was aware they arrived after us). She said she can't sit us before someone who came in the correct way. I wouldn't have minded if it had been sign posted or if she hadn't insisted we were so wrong! I said it was very silly to not have a sign or a door handle on the door you wish people to enter. She said she's worked here x years and it's a regular occurance. So question is why not put a simple sign on the door?! Food was fine. Service not great. Lesson learned, enter through the door that doesn't look like a door with no handle!

False advertising and horrendous customer service. Honestly so disappointed and annoyed after my experience with Ashvale today. I preordered desserts for Christmas Day over a month in advance and paid in full when ordering. Collected my order today to find the roulade was absolutely nothing like what had been advertised. See attached photos - what was ordered and what was received. I ordered a small roulade so obviously expected a smaller version of the photo on the website. Instead what I got was a pathetic mixture of cream and broken meringue squashed into a plastic container with absolutely no decoration like the picture. What an embarrassment to serve on Christmas Day to guests. I phoned as soon as I got home and explained that what I received was absolutely not what I was expecting, I was passed around 2 different staff having to re explain the issue to be told “the big one comes dressed the small doesn’t” I explained that the website does not show this nor does it say this anywhere. The staff member asked for my name and number and said the manageress would phone me back to resolve. I waited over 2 hours now after 1pm when I knew they were closing so I phoned again to be told “we are extremely busy with customers the manageress has your number and will phone when she can” Again waited another 3 hours with zero contact from them I tried to phone but I assume they had already closed and went home. So I was left with a pathetic excuse for a dessert, they had been paid in full and ignored my complaint. I have been to Ashvale quite a few times for breakfast and lunch, and never again will I return. Disgusting customer service and false advertising of products. Happy to take full payment upfront a month ahead but the manager can’t even make a simple phone call to sort out the issue.

Food good but not excellent. What made it a lot less enjoyable was the staff meeting people on entering - came across as extremely stressed out. Owners need to remember the customers are adults not school children joining the que for a school dinner ! they also need to do something about customers standing outside in que in the cold ! Good food, friendly service, lovely chilled atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip out of Lisburn to eat. Staff were efficient and food was served quickly. Steak sandwich was good, although a little too much tobacco onions for my taste, but easily reduced / removed. Chips were great. The honey chilli chicken was delicious... I think definitely one of the best or perhaps the best item on the menu. We didn't have the afternoon tea, but it looked good and very traditional with a 3 tiered stand: sandwich selection on the bottom, scones and tray bakes on the upper two levels. Plenty of parking, although don't be surprised if there's a queue to get in. The farm shop is a bit small, but with a good selection of local produce: vegetables, coffees (beans and and ground), sweet treats etc.

Staff were very friendly & setting was lovely however experience went down hill after that. Firstly tea arrived with just a tea bag in the pot, server realised & quickly corrected but only half filled pot with hot water. Was a good 10 minutes before food arrived, so tea was luke warm. Had a lovely cheese & ham croissant, very tasty. We then decided to have a desert, as we eyed them up on our way in, they looked amazing! Don't be deceived by the look, I had key lime pie, strange consistency, no taste of lime and definitely no taste of ginger from the base. When waitress took my plate, she asked if there was a problem, I explained & she said she would speak to the chef, chef really didn't acknowledge our feedback, at £6.50 it was an expensive disappointing treat. This was my second time at Ashvale, first wasn't great either but thought I would give it a second chance, definitely won't be back, lots of other local places offering better value & better food.

Going in I didn't know what to expect, but I was blown away. The food quality was outstanding, so fresh! I had the steak sandwich. The place had a very cosy atmosphere (even with it being busy). Decided to give this place a second try……..big mistake! Ordered poached eggs, toast and tea to start with……..simple enough you would think! Tea arrived long before food so it was cold by the time the food arrived and the teapot was only half full. Food arrived and the egg white was still runny but the good news is the toast was ok! Decided to try coffee and walnut cheesecake at £6.50, looked lovely, well presented but sadly was the most tasteless cheesecake I have ever had, not a trace of coffee flavour and didn’t even taste like cheesecake! Vastly over priced, over rated and not even edible!! Plenty of places to eat in Lisburn/Ballynahinch area serving good food at a more reasonable price. Very disappointing, avoid!

Very pretty restaurant, serving lunch only. The staff are standoffish and I might go so far as to say rude. The food was hit and miss. One day 3 of us had excellent meals. The following day 2 different people and I had so/so meals. The rooms themselves are very attractive with lots of live plants and plastic ones, but tasteful. The habit of putting a barrier across the entrance is very unfriendly, especially as they don't only do it when it is closed, but all the time, and they open it to let your party in, then close it in front of the next one, kind of makes you feel like you are waiting to get into an illegal card game or drug den and are being eyed up through a peep hole somewhere to make sure you are ok to go in. We got there when there was no queue, waited by the barrier for a few minutes, debating whether it was closed, or if we were at the wrong entrance, eventually my more impatient sister-in-law moved the barricade to go ask someone, and she got a sharp rebuke for it. Not a great start to lunch.

My missus and I used to love this place, this is the 4th time we have had a poor experience, After 3 occasions of being served mediocre food we thought we would give it one last chance to see if things had changed, after queuing for 20 minutes we were sat down near where the counter is situated, I had asked when we where waiting could we be seated in the Orangery and as we were being ushered in I asked again and was abruptly 'told' NO, cant you see we are very busy......well that just put a dampner on everything, there is no need to be rude, When ordering I asked for a couple of changes to my dish, that didnt go down well, when a waitress tuts at a paying customer that says it all, When my toasted sandwich came out promptly it was something you get out of a garage forecourt, actually it wasnt, a garage forecourt fayre is better, luke warm, limp and tasteless, I didnt even bother to complain, there wont be a 5th time, extremely expensive, pure execution and rude staff, Why would I go back? After having been here quite a few years ago I decided to give it another go. To be honest I don't get what all the hype is about. The setting is nice and yes the food is nice but in my opinion very overpriced for a Farmshop cafe. You can most certainly expect a queue no doubt a number of the clientele are returning customers. On the couple of occasions I have been I always feel rushed to finish and move on. Yes I know there is a queue but it's to relax for a short time post eating.

Not good for coeliacs / people who require gluten-free options. They offer gluten-free bread but tell you that they can't guarantee there's no cross-contamination in the kitchen. So the only safe gluten-free foods are scones and tray bakes that are pre-packaged. The scone is tiny and not worth the money. The service isn't very friendly either. It's a shame, as the cafe itself is lovely.

Couldn’t believe it when members of staff came from the shop entrance and ushered their able bodied friends in the side door . When we eventually got into the restaurant and were seated I mentioned the queue jumping to the waitress, her response was”that’s a privilege of knowing the owners”!!!! Well, if the owners think it’s ok for their friends to jump the queue in front of a couple of octogenarians that’s fine but I’ll be going somewhere where all paying customers are treated equally!!!! The food was ok, not worth the wait to be honest!!!

I visited here 2 years ago and was impressed .Now prices are extortionate. A scone at £2.5 is fine, but an extra £1.5 for preserves and clotted cream is not really acceptable!! .Scones were not special . The server was condescending when a request for an extra decaff teabag was made!! She asked if everything was OK whilst we were eating .On my initial order,I requested an extra pot of hot water for a, top up if cools or becomes too strong. However, their teabag produced weak tea, thus reason for request for a 2nd teabag. She refused my simple request . My perception was she thought I wanted a free pot of tea as she kept hinting about my extra pot of hot water !! Also the tea pot came with only hot water and teabag placed on the saucer!!. I have had decaff tea in many cafes and many provide loose tea not one bag unceremoniously placed on saucer !! This incident shall teach me never to go back ! Also to all the servers, please stop asking if meal is OK, if you have no intention of solving a problem .Its all PR but with no depth or sincerity !!

Second time I’ve been here and I intend to go often as the food, service and atmosphere is fantastic. You’re made to feel valued by the staff and the relaxing atmosphere helps you enjoy your meal. My favourite is the eggs Benedict. I’ve had it with the bacon and salmon. The presentation and taste are excellent. The French toast, Ulster fry and biscoff pancakes get a thumbs up from us too. From the bakery I’ve had the scone, wheaten loaf and sausage rolls. Can’t say enough how amazing they all were. The also make a great cappuccino

I visited Ashvale on Saturday. We queued for a short time and we were seated very promptly in the tea room on one of the tables up two steps. It was so busy and we all commented on the friendly feeling we felt. Our order was taken and food arrived rather promptly. I must say the staff are so efficient. In my opinion they have a good rapport. I and my friends like the way they take time to have a chat. Well done

I was with a 95year old lady who has problems eating meat & heavy foods, we had just missed the breakfast service & there was nothing suitable on the lunch menu so my friend asked could she have an egg & onion sandwich, our server ( who turned out to be the manager) was very obliging & said yes of course we will do that for you, less than 2 minutes later our food was in front of us, great service I thought, but the sandwich was inedible, no butter on the bread, egg cress with half an onion sliced on top of it, really awful, we pointed it out to a waitress, she said they had had the same complaint the day before & she would get the manager, finally the ‘lady’ who had taken our order came to us, she was very condescending & said they had made the sandwich especially for us & that she liked a lot of stringy onion on her sandwich, as for butter, new legislation is they cannot butter bread. Her attitude was awful, no respect for senior citizen at all. I will definitely not be back, total disgrace.

Ridiculously expensive for all that we had. Food was not that warm either. Specials menu could be better not the same choices any more. Very disappointed

Lovely place for brunch and lunch, first class decor, staff and food which never disappoints. I have going for years and it is always excellent. Had the Korean chicken today for the first time and it was really good.

Have been to this little gem a couple of times now and have enjoyed both experiences. To be honest I was a little shocked when reading some of the other reviews regarding poor staff attitude, awful food and not wanting children in the restaurant. We had my little grandson with us and the staff were lovely to him. Our food was excellent and the price was okay. Most places recently have had to put prices up to cover utility bills so I don't think it was excessive. The staff were lovely and attentive without being OTT and we were even treated to some tunes on the piano played by a member of staff.

Lovely food, in a beautiful building with great service from staff. I recommend a visit, always quite busy but worth it each and every time I go.

On Tuesday morning we arrived at ashvale. We were greeted by a member of staff who seated us by, what I can only describe as an old fashioned churn. There were two waiting staff on the floor and wow they were busy. The place was full and there was a great atmosphere. I have been here couple of times now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. We eat out quite a lot, but in ashvale the staff are very chatty and take the time to have a conversation. I find this welcoming, like a home from home. The two girls on the floor seemed to have a good rapport, which in my opinion makes things run more efficiently. Well done team ashvale!

Avoid at all costs! Passive aggressive staff with what seems to be a superiority complex and a clear dislike of children. I have been twice now to Ashvale after agreeing to give it a second chance and will never ever be back. I was made to feel uncomfortable for having a child with me, my food was quite literally swiped from me and staff members hovering around my table made me rush out the door. This place wants a very specific customer and they make it clear. So many other places with nicer food and staff that don't discriminate. Pathetic.

Horrible experience had by all who dined with us. Couldn't enjoy our very over priced food because of a waitress harassing us, asking questions that were of no concern to her, saying she has to ‘grin and bare it’ with customers making us feel very on edge and intimidated. Whispering and eyeballing us throughout the whole meal. Didn’t want to even serve us or want us to stay on for anything else, snapping menus back and lofting plates we were still eating from. We were discriminated against 100%. And after sharing my experience with others I have found out that this is a regular occurrence in this so called family run business. Absolutely disgusting!!!!

Horrible staff who needs to work on her people skills, Asking questions which were just nosey and unnecessary, telling us while she wears her apron she has to just smile and grin. Have never felt so intimidated while having my breakfast, if that wasn’t bad enough she Hovering around lifting plates without asking was I finished. Trying to clear and wiping table before I was finished. The dirty looks and whispering to other staff members about us. Did not have a pleasant morning here. Catch up with friends turned into a nightmare. The food was lovely but not lovely enough to be abused over your eggs

I was in ashvale today with family for brunch, this time was seated in the tea rooms. It was extremely busy so we were fortunate to be seated in one of the booths. We had a lovely meal, followed by very enjoyable desserts. The staff were very busy but friendly. The only negative today was a conversation we would rather not have overheard, between another customer and a member of the waiting staff. They had a young child who was running all over the place. It was a very busy environment and hot drinks being served, I didn’t think that was appropriate. Also a well done to the member of staff, in my opinion I thought they were spoken to rather rudely. This is my second time at ashvale and I can say both times have been a delight , I have been treated very kindly. I would like to applaud the staff as we would see they work hard. I will be returning in the near future!!

It had been a great experience for Saturday morning breakfast until this morning when I was so disappointed My ordered cooked breakfast was returned three times to correct the order! I requested hot water to refill my teapot. On receiving my bill I noticed £2 had been added for two refills of hot water to add to the one teabag in a pot costing £2.60 High water charges at Ashvale!

We arrived at Ashvale today and it was so busy. We were seated and promptly given menus. Our order was taken by a very pleasant lady. I totally appreciate that she was considerate as I have a food allergy. We were seated in the tearoom today, there was a lovely atmosphere. Staff are so efficient It was also good to hear the laughter. Happy staff equals happy customers. Well done!

I would thoroughly recommend Ashvale and am a regular customer. However, I am very disappointed that they now charge £1 for a pot of hot water. The waitress herself did not agree with this. Their prices are expensive enough. Therefore I have deducted a star.

I always enjoy Ashvale although it has got rather pricey. My big disappointment is that they now charge £1 for a pot of hot water. On principal I wouldn’t ask for it now.

Ruined Mother's Day! We had booked mother's day several weeks in advance and a few days prior had contacted the Pheasant to check everything was still booked and fine. We were informed they had changed the menu to be a set menu only (with only 2 course or 3 course) and no options for their regular menu!? It looked nice and why we wanted to try it out. This was a dirty bait and switch to pull a few days before mother's day and potentially us arriving to find out we couldn't order from their regular menu, which was mainly why we wanted to go there! They clearly did this to 1. Force people to pay higher prices for the two set menus and, 2. Out of laziness on the busy day only serve the same menu items. Dont care, they shouldn't have pulled this stunt mere days before mother's day dinner we had booked. We had to find somewhere else last minute a day before which wasn't fun! Won't be going there ever now after they pulled this crap. Advised our friends and family of this stunt too, so they may have lost more than one family of customers!

Very poor service. The food was very salty and lacked taste. Staff did not come to the table to clear plates. Unkept outdoor area. Very poor atmosphere. No horse racing played on the TVs despite request, very surprising considering the location! I wouldn’t go here as a horse racing fan!

Very satisfying meal! The menu had excellent options, and the service was great. The only issue was the slightly high prices.
