Ash Tree in Lichfield

Just popped in for a quick drink. Friendly greeting, attentive service & lovely chat with Charl. All staff I came across were friendly. Lovely setting by canal - perfect for this weather 😎

It would be a lovely little pub but staff need to smile and be hospitable. We have been a couple of times now, food was lovely but the lack of hospitality stops us from returning more often. Come on, smile it costs nothing, you work in a role that this is very important.

Nice quiet pub next to the canal, No bad feedback, service was excellent and food was nice, only thing I would change would be the BBQ sauce on the hunters chicken was more of a tomato marinara than a BBQ sauce but other than that was a perfect meal

Disappointing. The food and service could have been a lot better. A shame, as I've had positive experiences of the Ash Tree in previous visits (albeit some time ago). I would have spoken to someone about it on the day, but it would have embarrassed my mother on her birthday.

Terrible experiece, tables outside were full of plates and glasses not cleared in the two hours we were there. Firstly glasses were dirty and secondly the food was not good, scampi was like mush and the steak pie has hardly any meat in it. Prices have gone up but food has gone down.

Fab Sunday lunch, great service

Great quality pub good as it says on the sign. Popped in on my way home from work for some dinner, and I was very satisfied and ready to go home without the worry of cooking. Thank you for the service!

The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The food was beautiful and very generous portion sizes, it was served hot. Personally for me a would have liked the gravy a bit thicker with the steak and ale pie. But it was really lovely food! Prices were really good too. We will definitely be coming back again.

Booked our family in over the phone for mother's day, arrived on time only to be told that there was no booking. I checked my phone to show the date and time of the call when I booked, all they were interested in was trying to work out which member of staff should be blamed. They did not seem interested in resolving the issue, we were being looked as as though it was our issue to resolve. We ended up leaving as the restaurant was fully booked and the staff were just trying to blame each other. I am extremely disappointed. We have been treated so poorly, it has ruined mother's day for my wife. IF YOU BOOK WITH THIS RESTAURANT, THERE IS STILL NO GUARANTEES YOU WILL BE SEATED WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

Had mixed grill and hunters chicken and both was very nice and cooked spot on, staff were attentive and pleasant, sat by window watching the barges going by

The food was better than previous experience. Staff was pleasent and service was fast. The portions were ok but felt it should of have had more chips as it wasnt alot

Booked last minute as we were supposed to have gone over Cannock. Online booking was easy. The service was friendly and quick too! Food ranged from roast dinners, chicken burgers, hunter chicken, and mac&cheese! Everyone enjoyed themselves. TBF, it's out go to place in Rugeley

Nice pub food. Freshly cooked. Table a bit squashed next to 3others especially when passing with drinks.

Very nice lunch! The Ash Tree much improved! Place was clean tidy. Staff all pleasant. The food was tasty hot well presented will definitely go again!

The Gammon, pineapple and Chips are well done, the waitress was very polite and helpful.

Good for a cheap mid-week meal as there are different deals every day. Excellent staff, always friendly and helpful. Some main meals seem poor value and some seem good value so a bit hit and miss. Not many ales and too many expensive lagers.

Very poor dining experience. Menu is dire, but worse than that food was poorly prepared and missing items that menu stated were on dish. Nobody came to ask us how meal was. Haven't been to Ash tree in years and definitely won't be going back.

We popped in for a quick drink. Waited a while at the bar , although there were no other customers waiting. Nice pub, but the tables weren't being cleared on a regular basis.

Had lunch there. We were being treated so I couldn't say how much the meals were.

Fantastic meal and service. Staff very friendly and helpful. Decent price with a 30% discount was a bonus.

Family lunch. Four adults, two kids, one dog. Good choice, well prepared and presented in a reasonable amount of time. I've been wary about using the pub as staff changes dictate quality and service but the current incumbents are getting it right. Well done!

5 of us popped in for a Sunday lunch. Some of the food was ok but the Sunday roasts were awful. Fatty beef, dry chicken and Yorkshire puddings like cardboard! And to top it off soggy roast potatoes !!! Will definitely not be visiting again!!!

Arrived at 11.40. Found a table outside. Ordered food and drinks. Food came in 20 minutes... classic burger, ultimate burger and tikka massala. All gorgeous... Got very busy around 1pm but it was the Jubilee Thursday. Needed more staff at that time. Overall... Great time had in a wonderful setting...Thanks

Had a really nice christmas meal , everything was lovely, apart from the vegetables they could have been cooked alittle more than they were. Starter was delicious and perfect 👌 And pudding was beautiful and staff was very polite and helpful

Hi we had Boxing Day dinner here. Last year we had Christmas dinner it was lovely. So we went back this year for Boxing Day I will say not very nice it was left overs from Christmas Day food was just about warm and veg was rock hard. I had prawn cocktail and the letttece was all dry and shivered up

Waited over an hour for our food to turn up on Christmas Day. Other tables were served first that came in much later. Been 1hr 45mins and the main course still hasn’t arrived. Food is nice but any other time, I would have asked for a refund and left.

Lily was An amazing server and always greets with a lovely presence and a warm smile. Makes the place much brighter.

Food was good Atmosphere quiet and peaceful over £100 spent on meals we went up at 8:15pm and was refused desert kitchen was closed but it said 9pm online so need to update there info online if the kitchen closes earlier

Made to feel very welcome. Georgia was very attentive but not intrusive.

A little chaotic at first as the staff initially told us they only had twelve meals ordered rather than the 16, then as the starters were coming out wanted us to organise them despite names being taken with the orders to make this unnecessary. However, after one of our party spoke to them they responded very well and used the information they had to serve the correct people so that our party could enjoy the meal rather than constantly checking emails and directing their staff what to serve.

My husband and I came to the ash tree for a birthday meal. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Lauren and Joe was fantastic. The food was exceptional and presented very nice . A lovely friendly atmosphere with nice food, very professional. Our waitress was georgia who looked after us. A nice tasty meal, we all had different, every thing was cooked nicely. Best Sunday roast I have ever eaten, highly recommend turkey one.

We usually visit once a month and always receive a friendly welcome. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent.

Good experience however, my meal was a little on the cool side although my husbands was hot.. Food quality was good for a Sunday roast .. Shame about service at tables going and having to use an app ... Coffee machine needs looking at as coffee could be better and alot of the time is on the blink ..

The service was disappointing, told we could order from the table as we were a big group, ordered drinks that were wrong twice then told we had to order food at the bar after starting a drinks tab? None of it mades sense. The roasts were ok at best, unfortunately every seemed to get a different size portion of veg and potatoes despite most of us having the same meal. Service felt very much “throw it on the table” including putting hot gravy boats in front of my 9 month old who luckily didn’t burn himself, the pub as usual was fairly clean and a nice environment but service throughout was well below par

Visited mid-afternoon on Friday 4th October. We had booked ahead as it was a party of 11. The pub wasn't busy but there was a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent and good value, with generous portions. This was our second visit to the Ash Tree, and we definitely will be back in the near future.

nathan and grace were absolute fantastic and great cooks and best people ever, even if grace embarrassed when she brought my cake with a candle (that didn’t go out) which then got my family to sing happy birthday at me, overall great service and nathan and grace were again FANTASTIC ❤️

The purpose of our visit was to celebrate our son’s 10th birthday. I originally booked for May 4th but had to reschedule due to plans changing. The staff couldn’t not have been more accommodating in enabling me to change the date to May 6th. I also asked ahead of time if it was ok for us to bring balloons and decorate the table, which they were more than happy with. On the day, we arrived with doughnuts and candles (our son wanted doughnuts instead of cake), again the staff were very helpful and arranged them on a plate to be brought out after our meal. The only thing that let our visit down was that several food items were out of stock. My husband was unable to have the mixed grill because there was no steak. My MIL couldn’t have the kebab and fries because there were no kebabs. The New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was also unavailable. I completely understand it was a bank holiday weekend, so customer numbers would be higher, but I would have thought quantity of order would have been increased to cope with the extra demand. Overall, it was a great experience. We regularly frequent the Ash Tree and will continue to do so.

Was awesome to say everything is opened back up only 1 bad thing no red velvet cake...

Food served hot and well presented.warm friendly amd clean.park and seating area outside.alongside a canal so you can watch canal boats go by.plenty of parking space..very nice sunday dinners. Room for dogs also.

It could be so much better ,sunday lunch ,yorkshire pudding was sad and they 4got my roast potatoes, arrived later, meat was cooked lovely.

Very welcoming atmosphere was greeting straight away on arrival and taken to our seats. Food was lovely. Service was very good by Lily, we will be back again

Visited here twice while moored in Rugeley, having passed a few times. Good gluten-free options and knowledge. Nice to know they have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free foods. Friendly service both times and nice canalside area.

Main reason for visiting was to have nice meal with family. Two roast Sunday dinners felt like they had been plated up hours before. Roasters were hard- not crispy on outside/ soft inside, Yorkshire pudding was hard- are they from frozen?, gravy was too thick, broccoli was green/brown- need bicarb in water, mash was 'old'. Also chicken of hunters chicken was tough. Mac n cheese meal was OK. Puddings were ok.

The meal was lovely staff was helpful and polite, couldn't fault the place or the staff everything was great clean and tidy the safety measure were meant, we would go again

Service and food is always amazing, I visit regularly and never have any problems. Georgia is always friendly including her colleagues. My only negative is there could be more choice on the menu.
