A little chaotic at first as the staff initially told us they only had twelve meals ordered rather than the 16, then as the starters were coming out wanted us to organise them despite names being taken with the orders to make this unnecessary. However, after one of our party spoke to them they responded very well and used the information they had to serve the correct people so that our party could enjoy the meal rather than constantly checking emails and directing their staff what to serve.

Greeted by staff and shown to our table that had been booked by telephone When ordering our meals every thought and consideration was taken with our order And when the meals came they where well presented and piping hot The waiter, Evan, was very attentive and polite Top marks for a very enjoyable experience with the Ash Tree

Food was served hot, and nicely presented, and of good quality, portion size a little sparce, it was reasonably priced. In general a nice clean pub, with beautiful view of canal

My husband and I came to the ash tree for a birthday meal. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Lauren and Joe was fantastic. The food was exceptional and presented very nice . The Ash Tree was exceptionally clean. I would like to say Thankyou to the amazing staff. I highly recommend giving the ash tree a visit

A lovely friendly atmosphere with nice food, very professional. Our waitress was georgia who looked after us. A nice tasty meal, we all had different, every thing was cooked nicely. Best Sunday roast I have ever eaten, highly recommend turkey one.

We usually visit once a month and always receive a friendly welcome. Staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent.

Good experience however, my meal was a little on the cool side although my husbands was hot.. Food quality was good for a Sunday roast .. Shame about service at tables going and having to use an app ... Coffee machine needs looking at as coffee could be better and alot of the time is on the blink ..

The service was disappointing, told we could order from the table as we were a big group, ordered drinks that were wrong twice then told we had to order food at the bar after starting a drinks tab? None of it mades sense. The roasts were ok at best, unfortunately every seemed to get a different size portion of veg and potatoes despite most of us having the same meal. Service felt very much “throw it on the table” including putting hot gravy boats in front of my 9 month old who luckily didn’t burn himself, the pub as usual was fairly clean and a nice environment but service throughout was well below par

Visited mid-afternoon on Friday 4th October. We had booked ahead as it was a party of 11. The pub wasn't busy but there was a nice atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent and good value, with generous portions. This was our second visit to the Ash Tree, and we definitely will be back in the near future.

nathan and grace were absolute fantastic and great cooks and best people ever, even if grace embarrassed when she brought my cake with a candle (that didn’t go out) which then got my family to sing happy birthday at me, overall great service and nathan and grace were again FANTASTIC ❤️

The purpose of our visit was to celebrate our son’s 10th birthday. I originally booked for May 4th but had to reschedule due to plans changing. The staff couldn’t not have been more accommodating in enabling me to change the date to May 6th. I also asked ahead of time if it was ok for us to bring balloons and decorate the table, which they were more than happy with. On the day, we arrived with doughnuts and candles (our son wanted doughnuts instead of cake), again the staff were very helpful and arranged them on a plate to be brought out after our meal. The only thing that let our visit down was that several food items were out of stock. My husband was unable to have the mixed grill because there was no steak. My MIL couldn’t have the kebab and fries because there were no kebabs. The New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was also unavailable. I completely understand it was a bank holiday weekend, so customer numbers would be higher, but I would have thought quantity of order would have been increased to cope with the extra demand. Overall, it was a great experience. We regularly frequent the Ash Tree and will continue to do so.

Food served hot and well presented.warm friendly amd clean.park and seating area outside.alongside a canal so you can watch canal boats go by.plenty of parking space..very nice sunday dinners. Room for dogs also.

Was awesome to say everything is opened back up only 1 bad thing no red velvet cake...

It could be so much better ,sunday lunch ,yorkshire pudding was sad and they 4got my roast potatoes, arrived later, meat was cooked lovely.

Lovely little country type pub in the rural part of cannock. Staff are friendly. Kids play area outside. Plenty of parking. Just a nice friendly atmosphere

Very welcoming atmosphere was greeting straight away on arrival and taken to our seats. Food was lovely. Service was very good by Lily, we will be back again

Visited here twice while moored in Rugeley, having passed a few times. Good gluten-free options and knowledge. Nice to know they have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free foods. Friendly service both times and nice canalside area.

Main reason for visiting was to have nice meal with family. Two roast Sunday dinners felt like they had been plated up hours before. Roasters were hard- not crispy on outside/ soft inside, Yorkshire pudding was hard- are they from frozen?, gravy was too thick, broccoli was green/brown- need bicarb in water, mash was 'old'. Also chicken of hunters chicken was tough. Mac n cheese meal was OK. Puddings were ok.

The meal was lovely staff was helpful and polite, couldn't fault the place or the staff everything was great clean and tidy the safety measure were meant, we would go again

1My wife and I had a lovely couple of hours here this evening, I had the mixed grill, she had the chicken flatbread kebab, staff were attentive and the food was nice for an impromptu mid week meal out.

I was served by a young lady named Jasmin, she was very polite and extremely helpful, would recommend this place to all friends and family

Upon arriving we got given a table near the window, however to get to the table we had, go past 2 round tables and you couldn't get, it was too cluttered. Once seated we told to go up to the bar to order our drinks and food. In the whole times that we have been in this pub, we always got a waitress to our table. Once decided my partner went to the bar, there was one bloke, I think the manager, serving. It took 15 minutes for him to get served. We go the food, the waitress had to lean over another table, now empty, to pass us our food. No one asked us if our food was OK. Once finished we had to pay at the bar, we could have done a runner as there was staff about, but we didn't. The service at this pub seems to have gone downhill since the nice lady left, when she was there, we were in every week.

Sent complaint in directly. Food was ok, rest was dire, changing your two year olds nappy at the drinks table isnt really what we call correct. No access to changing facilities, food took forever and came at different times for different people in the party. Just a poor experience I cant respond to below reply, time it took to deliver wasnt the full issue... both were ordered at the same time but arriving bang on together wasnt the full issue... ... nearly an hours wait is ridiculous in the first place tbh when the pub wasnt exactly packed out and such a different waiting time between the two orders done at same time.....think they waited another 15 to 20 mintues.... one of the orders just had to be placed at bar as couldnt be amended/sorted/done on the app for the children.....thus why done differently. and the key was asked for... "dont know where it is".... why facilities arent in both gents and ladies as most other places is another question. not great... if you dont get criticism when things are poor you cant fix them... so go forth and fix

One of the worst Sunday roasts I’ve ever had. :( It was busy when we got there we ordered starters breaded mushroom & the chicken popcorn starter was missing the salad not the end of the world but i do like rocket with my chicken. It was lovely & hot it took 30mins to come out but it was busy it had died down when we got our starter took a further 30mins for mains, we was hungry and this is why i didn’t send back my food i didn’t want to wait another 30mins for something else. Yorkshire pudding was rock hard we left them. The roast potatoes was soggy they must have been cooked in that much garlic it sent everything on my plate sour/garlic tasting, Which isn’t great on a roast i tried 1 left the rest, pickled cabbage on a dinner not my thing i left that too. Broccoli was solid … carrots were soft… i did eat the mash, the chicken which was nice and very hot & the carrots. My other half picked at my left overs because he will eat anything. I did tell the bar staff, she offered me the money back but i wasn’t complaining for that reason. If its going to take an hour for food to come out it should be hot & fresh and taste nice and not stale, solid, sour. Sad because last time food was amazing & we were really looking forward to trying a roast.

Very poor meal. Seriously overcooked steak to the point of black. Should of been medium rare. Missing mushrooms. Very basic, small portions. Pastry rock hard on pie. Mash gloopy, and thick. Obviously not real mash. Servers come nowhere near whilst we were eating. Not worth the money.

Nice peaceful place for a midday stop. Right on the canal with narrow boats passing. Food plentiful and staff really friendly. Not sure what it’s like when really busy.

Popped in for lunch. Staff were surly and never smiled once. Ordered jacket potato which I have to say was awful. Microwaved, extremely dry with the smallest amount of tuna and no butter for £7.79! Side salad was nice. Won’t be returning

I was visiting a local National Trust property with a friend and we decided we would call in for a meal Yes it did seem great from the road being next to the river. However, the staff were unwelcoming and appeared unhappy, when I ordered a drink there was a hair attached to the glass and the young lady just pulled it off, I said sorry I would prefer another glass, she took it off me rolled her eyes and took another from the shelf and poured the lager from one glass to another and put it down in front of me, no apologies When we came to order two Sunday roasts we were told no yorkshire puddings left. I asked if we could have the cauliflower and cheese tart instead and I was told, NO Plan b then, two steak and ale pies, yes they were tasty but we were hoping for some compromise with the roast The tables were sticky and seats we had looked worn out We didn't come away with a very good impression of the staff and venue

I’ll be honest here so we waited quite a while for food to arrive then my daughter was missing her garlic bread when we asked the reply was they had ran out simple as that , my food was average , so won’t be going back
