Artemis in Maidstone

Loved this place - homely feel, brilliant welcome and service, really tasty, fresh food and absolutely HUGE portions. Couldn't have done more to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Will definitely be back!

We have been here before, many times, but not for a while, due to illness. That's all over, thankfully, and nothing has changed. Staff brilliant, food like being in Greece and we can't wait for the next time and to Zakynthos. Keep up the top food and service.

I hadn't booked but at midday there was plenty of space. I have been to this Taverna before so know it's good and I wasn't disappointed this time. A very friendly and chatty waitress was keen to make us feel welcome and take our order. Happy to serve us tap water with ice and lemon (both driving) at no cost. The food was freshly cooked and delicious. Chosen from the fixed price lunch menu - chicken skewer and Spanakopita - medium sized portions but certainly enough for a lunch and very tasty too. The Tavrena was very quiet but it was early. £8.95 each - no service included so £20 for two of us was excellent value. Definitely worth a visit for lunch. I can't comment about other menu options or if it's a good place for a dinner date.

We were a large party (16) Artemis took good care of us. The wait staff introduced herself straight away, Yotta (?) Nothing was too much trouble and she managed us all very well! The food was amazing, can't believe that they managed to get us eating at roughly the same time we'll done. Large portions and all very tasty everyone said how much they enjoyed the evening. Thanks Artemis.

Went with friends after a visit to Maidstone Museum for their lunchtime special. It was a busy lunch service so we were seated upstairs. Table laid up for us quickly and without fuss. Lady that served us was polite and as attentive as she could be given how busy they were. The lunch time menu was limited but the food was really good. Defo go again.

Artemis offers amazing quality, fresh and very tasty Greek cuisine with freindly service a a good choice drinks. The mixed sea food starter was a very good dish and really didn't skip on the sea food with the most amazing sauce.

We love holidays in Greece so when visiting Maidstone we thought we’d try Artemis. Not much to look at from the outside but inside is so welcoming & friendly. Nothing was too much trouble & everything was done with a smile- just like in Greece. The food was excellent too, wish we lived closer I would visit regularly!!

What a gem of a find !!! Absolutely amazing food … fab portions and prices and the staff are fantastic… really friendly and relaxed but also attentive ( but not to the point of being at your table every five mins .. like in some other restaurants ) being a foodie and very critical I cannot recommend this restaurant enough …. Wish had found it sooner !! And will definitely now becoming more regularly Thank you for a fab evening

Fantastic food, all cooked from fresh, lovely vibe but please can you put some mood lighting in the upstairs section as sitting under bright spotlights made the room feel very clinical. Everything else was brilliant, & they box up your leftovers to take home too!! Just one small criticism which could make so much difference.

Lovely food with good vegetarian options with no butternut squash in sight (phew!)! I had the vegetarian platter with a few changes to the selection as I'm allergic to mushrooms! I went with friends for my birthday and there was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very helpful and friendly!

Six of us booked a table, and every one of us thought the food and the service was excellent. I started with the delicious prawn saganaki, followed by mixed souvlaki (lamb and chicken). The portions were a good size and the food is tasty and tastes home cooked. I've already booked to take my father and wife next week. I would definitely recommend very highly.

An absolutely phenomenal evening eating authentic Greek food. If you´ve never eaten here, then it´s time you went, because you don´t know what you´re missing. Forget the "starter/main/dessert" and think of how people really enjoy food in the Mediterranean - lots of mezze, lots of conversation, unlimited time and enjoy, We ordered taramasalata, dolmades, stuffed peppers, calamares, saganaki and a mix souvlaki, and ate like kings. So many different flavours going on. Our server was great: walked us through all the dishes, taught us some Greek, always attentive - just great. An excellent evening. σας ευχαριστώ Thank you very much! A group of 6 or more could enjoy ALL the mezze and have a great evening out

From the outside Artemis looks tiny, but once inside and up the stairs the restaurant really opens up and the tables are comfortably spaced. It’s bright and clean with plenty of Greek pictures and ornamentation to set the scene, accompanied by pleasant upbeat traditional music which doesn’t intrude on your conversation. It wasn’t particularly busy for a Friday night which surprised us a bit, and perhaps as a result we received absolutely super attention and service. Three of our party of four ordered starters and these soon arrived and were extremely nicely presented and my dolmades being warm and tasty with just the right complement of zing from the accompanying garnish. On this particular night they didn’t have any steak or calamari (which they mentioned as soon as we arrived at the table) but that wasn’t an issue as lamb and moussaka were the intended selection except me who wanted the octopus. Again the meal presentations were very nice and everyone enjoyed a hearty meal with no need for side-dishes to bulk things up. My octopus was a generous portion and cooked perfectly with a great texture and taste (though my wife wasn’t sure she would have been happy eating tentacles, I love my seafood). We didn’t have room for desert but a glance at the menu suggested a varied choice. With plenty of beer and wine consumed throughout the evening, and a decent tip to reflect the lovely service from the two ladies waiting on us, it worked out at £40 per person which we all agreed was very reasonable for good food and a comfortable atmosphere where we could all catch-up. Artemis isn’t located in the best part of town, but don’t let that put you off; go ahead and give them a try.

I went to Artemis for a meal on my Birthday, having not been able to take our Greek holiday last year or this and hankering after some Greek food. The waitress was very friendly, the food was absolutely delicious, the portion sizes very good indeed and the cost very reasonable. We had a portion of Dolmades to share for a starter, then I had Chicken Souvlaki and my partner had Lamb and Chicken Souvlaki. The portion size being so generous was a little too much for myself but my partner polished off the lot. We left feeling completely satiated and happy with the choice to eat there. We would highly recommend and we will no doubt be back again before too long.

This was our 2nd visit here, we were due to be in Greece and this was as close as we could get. The food was amazing, very authentic and very reasonably priced we will definatley be returning again.

Love this place, an authentic slice of Greek food in Maidstone. Firstly the decor feels like you are in a Greek taverna and the staff are really friendly and welcoming, it's like visiting a family home.Then there's the food which I think is exceptional. We had the cold meze to start, and for mains I had the Lamb Kleftiko and my wife had the Halloumi Souvlaki. Both were packed with flavour and were delicious. It was like eating the best home cooked meals in a restaurant. I cannot wait to go back for more. Great place and well worth a visit.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and it was lovely. It felt like being on holiday, lovely cocktails and tasty food. Staff were really friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back - thank you!

We went here for a friends birthday had a large table booked for 6pm. We arrived drinks and starter and main food orders were taken in a timely manner. The food and drinks arrived ok and was very nice. The restaurant then got busy and there seemed to be only two members of staff. It took over 30 minutes for them to come and clear our mains plates and that was only after us chasing and then she did it in three separate spaced out sessions. We then asked if we could order desserts and more drinks this took forever again we had to chase and chase. Finally this happened and we asked for the bill again so much time passed we got the bill and then 20 minutes and no one came to take the money so we got up to leave. We paid on the way out but could have quite easily not done. They need some more staff as the two ladies were very polite but just to overworked and it really spoilt our experience.

An Authentic Touch of Greece. We came for a delayed Birthday meal as we couldn't get to Greece this year. This restaurant never fails to deliver. Great real Greek cooking. Great Greek welcome. Great Greek ambience! Brovo

Four of us had a fabulous time at Artemis, the food was amazing, the waitresses were brilliant and the place was spotless. We sat upstairs at the very back, which was lovely as we felt like we had our own little area. Thank you Artemis for a great evening, we left with very full (mostly potato, we had to try all 3 types) tummies!We will be back.

We visited for an early evening dinner.The team were very friendly, table and staff hygiene good; service good and the toilet (mix / male and female) was clean; smelt nice and tidy.We felt that the prices were good value; all food was very hot, delivered to your table as soon as it was made and delicious. We had X2 (large) starters, x2 mains; x1 wine; x1 soft drink and tap water, which came to £50, which we felt was good value for all that we had.Seating is available upstairs as well and we enjoyed that the tables were small and intimate and also spaced out with enough room.Giving four stars based on all of the above.We would recommend and look forward to returning back some time.When we left, all the tables were full, so it’s clearly a well liked and recommended little restaurant. We are not from around the area and we had eaten here before (Maybe 6 years ago) and had a similar good experience.

This cosy, little restaurant is phenomenal. The establishment was very clean and tidy. Not only does it offer upstairs and downstairs seating areas, but it really gives off an authentic, Greek feel, from decor to soundtrack.The service was excellent. The lady who served us was very attentive and friendly. She really engaged with us and made us feel welcome. (Bearing in mind, she was the only person working, at front of house).Food wise; well, you need to experience it yourself, to understand how good it was. The 'Meze Plate' starter was exceptional! Sadly, I tucked in to it before I had the chance to take a photo! Little piggy. The photo I've uploaded was of my main meal, which was their 'Mix Souvlaki'. This was also good. The people I went with all stated how much they enjoyed their meals and we were all in agreement, that we couldn't fault it. Will definitely go back!Stay Lucky.

I absolutely love this restaurant, the food and service are excellent. I visit regularly with work colleagues and it is our 'goto' for lunch. Unfortunately, they have raised their prices on their lunch menu which now makes it too expensive for a work lunch. The Chicken Souvlaki has gone from £7.50 to £11.90! That's a huge increase by anyone's standards.

The service from start to finish was to the very highest standardThis restaurant stands out above all the restaurants we have eaten in in the 4 days that we have been in maidstoneIt was our last night so thought we would try this Greek restaurant if we had tried it on our 1st night we would have been there every night.We have been to Greece for the last 10 years for our holidays and the food and wine we had in the Artemis is as good as any food we have had in Greece.The starter we had was a mixed meze for 2 which was very good I had stuffed calamari which was excellent and the wife had lamb shank which she said was excellent We had the house red wine Which we normally have when we are in Greece which it is normally home made and this wine tasted the same its not the best you can buy but we only payed £14 for a litre so no complaints there This is probably the best Greek food we have had in the ukOur only negative is that we live in Southampton just a little to far to come every weekend

Although we enjoyed our meal, it was at full price, have had many lunches at this restaurant but will not go back until the Lunch Time Menu is brought back.While we were having our meal five people came in and asked if they were doing the Lunch Menu, they walked out. They are loosing custom, it was always a treat to go there and have a lovely meal.

Go Greek at Artemis and you certainly will not go hungry. Ample portion sizes of tasty well presented food with excellent service from Sara made for a very enjoyable lunch time visit.

First visit to the restaurant and myself and my fiancée could not fault anything, the staff are so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The food was incredible, piping hot, loads of beautiful flavours and great portion sizes. We never felt rushed at any point and we had the most beautiful evening. We shall definitely be regulars now

Visited this delightful restaurant after a recommendation from a friend. It was a great recommendation as it was a delightful evening of great food and friendly service. The food is proper traditional Greek cuisine. It s the only place outside of Greece that I have had feta cheese in filo pastry with honey. All the food was served freshly prepared .Good wine choice,the house wine is very good and well priced. The extra bonus was the warm ,friendly hospitality from the two ladies running restaurant, they really made the evening ,thank you. We made the trip from London to visit this restaurant and will do so again. Highly recommended.

We have had several deliveries from here during lockdown ( and hope to visit the restaurant again soon) - the food is delicious and freshly cooked, the portions are very generous! Very good value too. Last night I called to add a starter to my order at the last minute for my elderly dad. The lady on the phone was so helpful, she was just packing pour order and included the stater free of charge. So kind and generous especially in these challenging times. The deliveries are always on time and the drivers are very friendly and respectful of social distancing.

We’ve just ordered a delivery and it did NOT disappoint! It was delicious and still very warm. Cannot wait for restrictions to be lifted so we can visit the restaurant again and enjoy the whole experience of this amazing little gem but in the meantime I’ll happily order a delivery.

We were unsure about ordering a delivery, but have enjoyed good meals in the restaurant when we were allowed.and have missed it. We ordered prawn saganaki, that was excellent (as always), three cheese bake with tomato and a mixed souvlaki. The food was delivered very hot, was of very good quality and we really enjoyed it.

Had an amazing delivery this evening from this lovely restaurant for a lockdown birthday treat. The food was delicious and well presented, it arrived hot and was delivered on time. The portions were very generous and wonderful flavours.

Visited last night with friends. Al the Covid safeguarding in place but once we sat down it felt very normal. The service was good and menus arrived quickly. We all had different starters and all were good. I really enjoyed my stuffed peppers. The souvlaki were good both the mixed and the chicken ones. Please support this great restaurant, we want to be able to visit again.

I have just had a delivery from Artemis. Cold and hot meze’s. The beef and lamb kofte were completely raw inside (I enclose a pic). They, along with the chicken fillet were completely tasteless. Both the cold and hot mezes’ were tepid when they arrived. I will not be using them again!

We ordered from Deliveroo as a birthday treat after reading great reviews. Had a mix of the cold mezze with halloumi and chips. Came really quick and everything was super fresh and piping hot. Soooo yummy! Tzatziki tasted just like the stuff they serve in Greece and took us straight back to our holiday last year. Chips were crunchy and hot and very generous portion sizes. Will deffo be coming back and dining in the restaurant next time!

Been here before and had excellent service and food , so I was disappointed to have to remind the staff about what I had actually ordered . Dish came out minus two items listed on the menu , this was rectified but I was charged for my salad , which should have been included. Needless to say I had this deducted , nevertheless it's poor service . On the upside , the food was lovely .I will return again and hope that normal service has resumed.

Such a great authentic restaurant, friendly service and great food. Really good choices, fresh and tasty. 3 baked cheeses with pitta was amazing. Chicken Souvlakia, Greek potatoes and salad fantastic!!! Plenty of space and hand sanitizer at the entrance, great place to visit with friends.

Have visited this restaurant several times now and cannot fault it, so when friends visited us the weekend we booked a table. It is a smallish venue with a great ambience and the staff are welcoming and helpful throughout.The food we had was excellent and ice cold beer in an iced glass... the little attention to detail goes a long way.Will definitely return

We came here for dinner and it didn't disappoint - great family restaurant, fab atmosphere, friendly service and we felt transported to the Med. We shared some starters then had souvlaki, kofte and stifado all were fantastic. Great value for money.

Between us we had the taramasalata with pitta for starters, lamb chops with potatoes & greek salad, and skewered lamb in pitta with chips & salad. All excellent, but especially the chops; wow. Lovely (small) restaurant, friendly and attentive staff. First visit, will certainly return.

Friendly welcome, cosy beautifully decorated restaurant (toilets a bit boring though). Great choice of drinks.The menu is extensive but only has one vegetarian main on it which I had, it would have been nice to have had another option, maybe a vegetarian moussaka? The food was fabulous! All hot, fresh and delicious! Apart from the lack of veggie options can’t fault this restaurant, a lovely find.

I'm rarely moved to post restaurant reviews but feel like I should for two reasons;1. It's outstanding. I had a lamb pitta with chips and salad for about £8 and it was delicious. Excellent portion size and the service was quick and friendly. Couldn't recommend it more highly and will definitely be back soon.2. We only had £1.45 in change to leave as a tip and the experience warranted much more so writing this will alleviate my guilt.

Turned up without a booking late afternoon on a Saturday.Accomodated us with a previso we only had the table for 2hours which was understandable.Quick service.Children had huge chicken souvlaki and chips and Chicken fillet and chips and ate the lot.Good quality and price for the kids meal.Cold mixed meze,mixed souvlaki and beef stifado with ice cold Mythos in a frosted glass for the adults all served with great Greek potatoes.Food was great and very authentic.Highly recommend but wouldn’t suggest booking as it very busy and we were very lucky.

Excellent . Food was delicious, best Greek food outside of Greece also home cooked and nothing brought in. The staff are very good, Attentive but not overbearing. Very good value for money will definitely return.

We went on a Monday night, pretty much all the other restaurants we walked past were empty, except Artemis. My boyfriend had called ahead because I have gluten and lactose intolerance. Although they don’t do GF pitta, they were happy for us to bring some. The restaurant is authentic feeling and casual, it was busy but not crowded, the waitress was really lovely, she advised on all GF options and was fine to let me swap stuff around to get the dish I wanted.

Nice taste Of Greece. Quick lunch was very good. Lamb chops and Greek salad plus nice Greek house red. Recommended.

My last comment on Artemis was not well received by the owners. So my wife an I took a last minute decision to have a meal there it was early on a busy Friday evening. It is quite small and has a cafe feel with a nice atmosphere, we were seated and had the house wine which was quite acceptable . I ordered the Spinach and feta pie and my wife Halloumi and cheese grilled both arrived within 5 minutes or ordering the pie was warm and OK I would have prefered it heated in the oven which would have kept the filo pastry crispy the Halloumi Cheese & Veg was large and enjoyed. My grilled Calamari a Artemis special (£15.50) was good and the Chicken Souvlaki (£13.00) was more than enough for Mrs M . Service was quick and polite we were in and out within the hour. It is what it claims to be a Greek Taverna .

We went on a Saturday night & the place was busrting at the seams, the food was good & the service timely & friendly. A great job considering how busy the place was.

We have a problem here: either people from Maidstone are very undemanding or the restaurants found a way to trick TripAdvisor because that's the 2nd "high ranked" restaurant I tried and it's rubbish again....

Went here for the first time me and my lovely partner had a few day away and we had a lovely meal here.from the time you go in the staff are amazing above and beyond food was amazing took us back to being in Zante what a great night would recommend to anyone.

We had dinner here with a group of 12, the food was perfect really tasty. The waitress's are really lovely, my partner wanted a large magners and it wasn't cold the waitress bought out a small cold one and told him it was free until the big one gets cold! He didn't complain she did this off her own back. At the end of the evening all the staff came upstairs and the chef did traditional Greek plate smashing, it was completely unexpected and a lot of fun.

This is a nice little restaurant,offering Greek and Mediterranean dishes that you wouldn't see in most other places around town.

My wife and I went here for a romantic Valentine's meal. It's a small and cosy restaurant with attentive staff and a good selection of Greek food on the menu. The price was very reasonable, we plan to return with the whole family soon.

I really love Greek food. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m an expert but I do know what good Greek food tastes like. We were wowed by this place. Had high expectations and it didn’t disappoint. It was truly scrumptious. The waitress who served us was lovely, and also they serve a 1 litre jug of house wine for about £13. Can’t complain at that! Seriously though, a shame we’re not from Maidstone as if we were I’d be here all the time (although portion sizes are massive - you definitely need to be rolled out the restaurant once you’ve eaten!)

Our first visit to this restaurant following a recommendation from a friend. Fabulous lunch. The food was excellent as was the service. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back soon for dinner this time.

I never normally do the review thing but this is without out a doubt the best restaurant in Maidstone by far,very charming,excellent genuine friendly service,freshly cooked authentic greek food using quality ingredients,superb value, I have been using this restaurant for the past year or so and go at least once a week,the food and service is consistently excellent,the staff attentive,keep up the good work,

I’m sorry the experience in this restaurant was not what we were expected. We were ordered the seafood menu

The only downside for us was having a set time for our sitting as it was a busy Saturday night. This was fine for us as a couple but for larger groups the 90 minute sitting may have felt too rushed.

Reminds me of being in Kos! The smell was lovely, it was a mild summer evening (Saturday) we had moussaka and salad with dips and pitta to start, the guys here are so friendly and made us laugh! Food is worth the price. 10/10 Artemis

WOW what a restaurant our first visit. I believe a restaurant needs to be the full package for the perfect experience. Food/Staff/Ambionse are all very important.This restaurant has it all Excellant food Excellant staff. Another visit to Artemis on a Saturday night and another wonderful experience. The food, drink, service and ambience were faultless.

Visited the restaurant Wednesday night as a date night and the experience was outstanding. We had calamari and cold meze to start. The dips tasted homemade and everything was fresh. We both then had mixed souvlaki which tasted incredible. Fantastic portion size and the staff were very attentive with a quick turn around for food. Very reasonably priced and the Greek house wine was great too. We will be back again soon!

We have eaten here many times, always well attended, service good and food is fantastic, authentics beers slip down.

Nice place & friendly staff, but not overly impressed with the food. Moussaka for main course was dry & lacking in flavour - nothing blended together & the top sauce just sat like a separate, over-grilled hat on the rest. Hubby said his beef stifado was fine, but he left some which is rare!

We ate here on 25/5/19. Food was absolutely gorgeous and good portion size. Service was excellent and staff very friendly. Will definitely be going back soon.

Nineteen of us came to Artemis glad part of my sister's hen party on 4th May. The food was stunning and so reasonable. We arranged with the manageress to have platters of mixed starters and these were brilliant. Very authentic food and the wine is such good value. The waitresses were so helpful, even helping to decorate our table. Will definitely be returning. Thank you!

We've been to Artemis before & have not been disappointed. Glad to have an excuse to return as we don't live in Maidstone. Food just as good. Very friendly service. Authentic Greek cooking with plenty of choice. Thoroughly enjoyable meal with excellent standard. We particularly love the decor which added to the experience of Greek eating. Thank you

Went there for a birthday dinner. Staff are very good. Engaging and professional. We had a little hiccup with our food but was all dealt in a very professional and kind way. Will definitely go again! Very reasonable prices and very good food

We went today for lunch. Sitting is a bit crammed but the place is beautiful. Very attentive waitress. We had courgette ball, calamari rings, chicken souvlako( chicken replaced with halloumi for a vegetarian) and lamp chops. The food was delicious. Big portion of mains and reasonably priced . Very good service. Would definately go again!

Another great night and the reason we go to Zante. A fantastic meal and just to look at the shipwreck photo inspires another holiday. Beef stifado is so good and goes well with a good and cheap glass of wine. Love it here and will have so many more Greek nights.

Took the decision to dine here with another couple as we haven't been here for about 7 years following a couple of average/poor meals had here. What a transformation!! Food choices tasty, well presented, big portions and accompanied by fabulous Greek wine. Service was efficient and very friendly. Nice atmosphere and great value for money with no hidden extras added. I only wish we had gone back sooner. A new firm favourite and very highly recommended!!

Food was fabulous on the two occasions that we've been. Service was good and staff knowledgeable on the dishes. Hot Meze was just divine ! We'll definitely go back again. Seating is a little cramped - but on the whole - a good choice for somewhere to eat

Went here on my birthday and there were 7 of us. Food was fantastic- lamb dishes cooked to perfection and huge portions! The waitress was great And fast smiley service. Would definitely recommend for groups or couples

My friends and I visited on 29th March 2019, having visited here a few times over the years, the restaurant is doing well, the staff are friendly and professional, The meals on the menu caters for most people, good portions, reasonably priced. I always book in advance and never had an issue getting a table, however, booking is advised to avoid disappointment. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to groups, couples, business clientele, and families as they provide a first class service to all their customers

Good value, busy, authentic Greek restaurant with good service. It was unfortunate that our neighbours were rather loud and opinionated. Enjoyed the food, although the baclava was very sweet. The bill was reasonable Decor a little shabby, but a good working cafe. Hard working staff, certainly if you like Greek food a place to return to.

My husband and I visited here for the first time this evening and we wasn’t disappointed. The food, the atmosphere and staff are absolutely fabulous. Scrupulously clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Definitely recommend this establishment 🥰

My husband and I have eaten here many times in the last 2 years, the food is delicious, fantastic value, staff are professional and friendly, we love supporting an independent restaurant who really deserve their high rating! You will not be disappointed!

Four of us visited last evening and had a very good meal. I started with mixed seafood followed by stuffed grilled squid. The starter was excellent, but the main course was out of this world. It was indeed the body cavity of a fairly well grown squid stuffed with a variety of other squishy sea creatures. It was incredible. I wish I had chosen it for desert as well. Oh how I could have eaten three of those wee beasties. I would love to tell you what everyone else had but I'll be darned if I can remember. No one complained everyone said the food was great and I believe them. This is a really nice friendly place with great staff and amazing food

Delicious food ,i love chicken souvlaki and baklava .Kids love it too.Portions big enough. Can't wait until next time!!!
