We visited here on a Friday night in July, the staff were brilliant and service very quick. Couldn’t fault the food at all and I’d definitely come back. My husband said it was the best calamari he’d had. I can also highly recommend the jalapeño poppers and fajitas! Really lovely atmosphere. The only thing that niggles me a bit is they put on a service charge. The lady did say we could take this off but we didn’t. I just want to be able to decide how much I tip, not the restaurant.

We were 4 people and it was an awesome experience. Especially the food and service. I was really happy with the hospitality which I had got.

Second time here and the food was just as good as two years ago. Nachos to die for. A large starter was perfect as a main. Unfortunately, the Margarita was the worst I've ever had. FAR too much lime cordial (who puts cordial in a margarita anyway?) Probably to disguise the fact that there was very little alcohol! We shared a jug for £27 and felt completely sober at the end. Weird... Cheerful, friendly staff with a special shout out to Lauren, who was polite enough to laugh at my husband's jokes!

Went here last night with a small group of friends and thought the food was lovely! All the food was really tasty and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Waiter was also lovely - we hope you got your tip as you were fantastic but weren’t there when we left! We were not going to order a starter but glad you recommended the cheesy flat bread! He was super friendly and brilliant service from you so thank you 👏🏼 Only downside was we thought it was a bit odd we couldn’t have the starters for mains as different kitchens? Would recommend and come back for sure 😁

To be fair, we were seated at the end of the night and they accommodated us at 10pm as a couple when no other restaurant would. The service was Uber quick because we were last in and staff very friendly. However, the food was just not that nice and very mediocre. It was so bland and for the price, I expected really tasty food. Sorry, but I won’t dine here again due to the high prices for poor quality food. But thanks for accommodating us so late on.

Came for a dinner on a Sunday night for a family member. Was a very enjoyable experience from the staff to the food all was lovely and can’t wait to come back again, felt very looked after!

The service and setting were good but the food was disappointing. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this isn’t the one but if you want quantity over quality then you’ll like it. The menu isn’t very descriptive so wasn’t sure what you were going to get. The ‘beef’ option is mince, not strips of beef but that was my mistake. I had the quesadilla but it was more of a calzone. It tasted a bit shop bought and the beer was barely chilled.

Very nice snacks. Seating is in the garden under a large canopy. Gives great fresh juices. Decently priced. Serves lots as well as grilled chicken and seer fish with accompaniments for dinner

Tried to order takeaway this evening but unable to either via Deliveroo or calling the restaurant directly as indicated on their website. Seems since they have been able to open again at full capacity they are no longer interested in providing delivery / takeaway service.

Went in with family for a meal and the food was good and the atmosphere was great.What lets them down is the website advertises call between 5pm amd 9pm for delivery, however when you call you are told we are too busy.Annoyed that spending £60 is only okay if you are sitting in rather than having it delivered

100% the best Mexican I have ever had in this country!!! Fresh ingredients cooked to order. Nothing was pre-packed or from a microwave.The staff are lovely and really welcoming. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and well set out. We really did feel like we were on holiday not just in Plymouth. Very highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun friendly evening out with delicious food. Looks good for families too. 10/10

Delicious selection of food, fairly priced considering the portion sizes. If you have a smaller appetite consider this when ordering. We ordered a starter and main and ate less than half the main. Accommodated us taking leftovers home but would have been wasteful otherwise. Chilli Jam with the taquitos was amazing as were the other sauces. Pleasantly surprised with the meal in general.

This restaurant has great ambience with it's Mexican decor and friendly staff. The food is amazing, we had nachos and gambas to start followed by chilli con carne and pulled hog on aztec mash with pineapple! Delicious and large portions. Together with a bottle of wine and good service we enjoyed a lovely evening! We will definitely return.

There were 4 of us away working and we fancied a meal out. We saw Arribas and decided to pop in. What agreat decision. The staff were very attentive to how we were received and shown to our table in line with the currnet Covid guidelines.Friendly staff and a good choice of dishes to choose from.I would certainly recommend Arribas if you wnat to try Mexican dishes.And they served the most delightful churros for dessert.

Had a really lovely evening, great sized portions but the best bit was our lovely server, the young lady who chatted with us loads and she was so pleasant it made the evening.

Popped in out of the blue last night. The team accommodated us despite being very busy. Food was outstanding and the staff super friendly. All in all a lovely evening. 👍🏻

Aparecimos por casualidad y conseguimos una mesa. El restaurante pronto se llenó y se llenó. Cuando está lleno, puede ser ruidoso. Ese personal fue muy amable y ocupado, no se detuvo. Visité este lugar 21. 8. 20. Restaurante acogedor con bonita decoración. La comida estaba por debajo de la media y solo estaba tibia cuando la conseguimos.Teníamos 2 chicas sirviéndonos y una de ellas sabía poco sobre la comida / bebida que servían.Por lo que gastamos, fue bastante decepcionante y no es un lugar al que volvería a visitar.

Fuimos como un grupo de amigos para aprovechar el plan de salir a comer para ayudar. Estaba muy concurrido (como era de esperar cuando todo el mundo está tratando de hacer una ganga) por lo que el servicio fue lento para comenzar, y tomó un tiempo conseguir nuestras bebidas. Había una camarera en particular que descaradamente nos ignoraba, pero el gerente (creo) fue genial, y después de que obtuvimos nuestras bebidas todo se desarrolló bien. Nuestra comida llegó bastante rápido y estaba deliciosa. También fue agradable que no nos sintiéramos apurados para salir, en general, una gran noche con amigos y todos disfrutamos mucho de nuestras comidas. Sin duda recomiendo las enchiladas, el paraíso cursi.Para agregar distanciamiento social, nos pidieron que esperáramos afuera mientras nuestra mesa estaba preparada, y la mayoría del personal usaba máscaras y guantes, pero no era obligatorio, lo que no nos molestó en absoluto.

Los entrantes eran tan agradables y la comida principal como la chimichanga era deliciosa, las porciones eran tan grandes y estábamos luchando por terminarlo. We booked a table for Tuesday 3rd August at 7pm. Arrived on time to a queue of 4 other parties outside-all who had also booked for 7pm. Three more parties then joined the queue behind us. By the time we got to the front of the queue after about 5mins waiting the waitress did not even apologise-just said ‘you know about the wait yeah?’. Well we didn’t because we’ve been outside and this is my first contact with you. Inside all the tables were full with no spacing out taken into account-just their normal set up which surprised me as most other restaurants seem to be spacing their tables out at the moment obviously. The waitress told us the problem was the kitchen was slow and that the 6pm customers hadn’t finished yet (although why she thinks 6pm customers would already be leaving at 7pm is beyond me), and that we could wait upstairs for a short while for our table. 4 parties were put upstairs in the empty bar (which could have been utilised for spacing tables out from downstairs). We were left there for half an hour by which time one gentleman had gone downstairs for an update and the waitress he spoke to didn’t even know we were upstairs waiting! By this point most of us upstairs decided to leave-as we did so no member of staff approached us-in fact a waitress walking past me as I came down the stairs avoided eye contact. There was a queue at the door still and I asked what time they had booked for-they said 7.30 (the time was now 7.40pm) I told them of our experience and said personally I wouldn’t bother. It’s a shambles! Management need to sort this quick if they don’t want anymore negative reviews.

We visited yesterday evening and after a nice starters it went downhill. Nobody came to collect the empty plates or even made eye contact for us to flag them down. Eventually they were removed but then waited for ages for the mains again nobody to ask. We had to go up to the bar 3 times to ask where the food was. 3 different excuses ranging from they were really busy to it being our fault for not saying we were ready for mains when they cleared the starters. We asked for the bill straight away as we knew it would take ages but again it didnt arrive. Two different servers asked us what we had as they had obviously lost the ticket. The bill was still wrong at the end!There were no apologies about service and as others mentioned the place was packed no social distancing. I wouldn't recommend this place which is a shame as the food was good.

So, we hadn't booked but was seated at a table with menus. After 20 mins of people watching.... we left.Not even had a drink order taken or a knife and folk delivered.Another table said they were waiting an hour for starters, still not arrived. Waitress tried to shuffle a table around, impossible to social distance so the couple left despite booking.Shame you wanna support local business but they just don't wanna support you the customer. Staff need to get organised, the bar man could of helped out more.Won't try visiting again, shame tho.

We arrived at Arribas at 6pm on the 2nd evening of the government’s ‘eat out to help out’ scheme, and waited a while to be seated - the waitresses avoided eye contact and it was difficult to know whether we found our own tables or not.Once seated our drinks order was taken within 5 minutes, but we then waited a further 35 minutes for our food order to be taken. The cocktails were 241 and priced at £7.50, however I would not be surprised if there was zero alcohol in any of the drinks that we ordered. We joked that there was maybe 1/4 of a shot in each glass. They just tasted fruit juice, and not in a pleasant way.When our food eventually arrived it was mediocre at best. When we had finished it took another 50 minutes before we could leave - in this time our table was cleared, and we had to ask a few times for the bill. We ended up spending 2 hours in the restaurant even though we only ordered mains. In this time, desserts were not offered, nor were more drinks, and no one asked how our food was. In fact the staff actively avoided talking to or making eye contact with any of the customers.In terms of health and safety, the staff were wearing masks which they had to lift up to be heard (I’d suggest investing in masks with clear panels to enable lip reading), and there was sanitiser and track and trace on the door. However, the tables were squeezed in together and we were in very close proximity to the customers around us.During our two hours we watched additional staff arrive as they were clearly out of their depth, but the staff were like headless chickens and lacked direction and organisation in what they were doing. We watched multiple tables ask for their bills several times, or ask for their orders to be taken. The table next to us waited 1hr and 10 minutes for their food order to be taken and ended up leaving, and we watched other tables leave without being served too. However they kept on bringing in customers!! You’d think they’d close the door and focus on serving the customers they already had. I would suggest the managers rethink the numbers of customers that they can cater for in a calm and time efficient manner.

This was an awful experience. There is no social distancing at all- tables and chairs are too close. Service was horrendous and very slow. Churros were over-done. Would not return nor recommend.

Just a heads up to anyone wanting to go to Arribas on Notte St......DON'T!! Absolutely packed, no social distancing adhered to and after waiting 1 hour and 30 mins and complaining 3 times about the wait....still no food order taken! Shocking service. Ending up walking out as did others. AVOID X

I visit this restaurant regularly when working in the area. Its presented in an authentic way. Lots of colourful decor, sombreros to wear if thats your thing etc! Generally has a lively feel about the place. The menu is large and varied, you don't go hungry here! Plenty of spicy options, the food is good and well presented. The service is efficient and everything is well priced.

Regresé a Arribas anoche. Habían hecho el lugar un poco desde la última visita y se ve fabuloso. Ambos tenían tipos de pieles de patata para comenzar y quedé muy impresionado con la presentación y la comida. Una sección hundida en el plato para nuestra salsa de crema agria. La esposa tenía fajitas de pollo, que dice que fue incluso mejor que la última vez y que estaba muy impresionada. Tuve enchiladas de pollo que también fue perfecto. Una comida encantadora. Definitivamente recomiendo 100%

Este solía ser uno de mis lugares favoritos. Ya no, muy decepcionante. Al pagar a los clientes se les hace sentir como un inconveniente. El servicio al cliente no existía, la comida era pobre y los cócteles solían ser buenos, pero esta vez no. Otro restaurante que se fue cuesta abajo, no creo que vuelva. No es solo la comida que dejó un mal sabor.

Estábamos en una mesa de 11 para la cena de cumpleaños de mis amigos un sábado por la noche.Un catálogo de números resultó en un desastre de una tarde;Me llevó 15 minutos servir a las tres personas frente a mí en el bar. La mujer detrás de la barra realmente parecía disfrazada de estar trabajando y se sintió como un gran inconveniente al pedir mi bebida.Desde que pedimos, nos llevó casi una hora obtener nuestros entrantes. Las personas que tenían vieiras o langostinos descubrieron que hacía mucho frío, pero tenían tanta hambre que no dijeron nada en ese momento.Les llevó más de una hora llevar agua a la mesa.Tuve la fajita de carne para platos principales. La carne estaba muy seca y tenía un sabor picante que era desagradable. Nadie vino a la mesa para ver si nuestras comidas estaban bien y cuando me la quitaron no me ofrecieron nada más, así que pasé hambre.Fumar era un eufemismo y no volveré pronto. ! Si no puede entender los conceptos básicos de la hospitalidad, entonces realmente no hay esperanza.

Tener una amiga que visitara Plymouth por primera vez y conocerla bien tuve que llevarla a este restaurante. Viviendo fuera del país había pasado un tiempo desde la última vez que estuve, sin embargo, todo era como lo recordaba. la comida era excelente, el ambiente era relajante, era entre semana y relativamente tranquilo, sin embargo, eso permitió una gran conversación. La señora que nos atendió a Jodie fue atractiva y profesionalmente amigable, un activo indudable para el negocio. Utilizamos un Groupon, pero para ser justos, esto fue una ventaja, y cualquiera que haya ido temprano puede obtener una fabulosa comida de dos platos por 15, no un quiebre bancario de ninguna manera. Descubrí que en algunos establecimientos, al reservar a través de Groupon, su valor como cliente parece disminuir, ¡no aquí! Groupon es un método para atraer nuevos clientes y tiene como objetivo asegurar negocios repetidos. Uno de nuestro grupo no ha tenido comida mexicana antes, se sorprendió gratamente y será un cliente que regresa en el futuro. Gracias al personal de Arribas, tanto en el frente como en la parte posterior de la casa, por un tiempo encantador, comida fabulosa y un gran ambiente.

It seemed a little quiet and lacking in atmosphere but we put that down to being a rainy weeknight. Really enjoyed the food here. We ordered a garlic tortilla to share while we waited for our main courses. When they came the portions were so good we struggled to finish them (chicken fajita and Cajun salmon salad). There was an offer advertised in the restaurant ‘buy a bottle of wine, get the second half price’. When we enquired after finishing the first bottle we were told we didn’t qualify as both bottles had to be purchased at the same time!! Shame as we would have stayed longer and ordered a dessert or coffee. As it was, we went to the pub!

I just would like to know if there is a way to replace that broken, colourless and old flag you have outside of the restaurant? I don´t think is very nice to see it specially for the respect that mexicans deserve , and how important is as their national representation.

From the colourful decor to the welcoming hostess, Arribas is a fun little taste of Mexico. The menu is varied but the food is cooked to order with fresh ingredients and is very flavourful without being too spicy.

Came here for a date night with my partner. Wasn’t made to feel welcome at all from the staff even though we were only 1 out of 3 tables there when we arrived. My starter which was the potato skins was served to me cold and literally only 2 skins for nearly £6. We waited 30 minutes for our mains to come out after we had our starters. My fajitas didn’t come out sizzling like everyone else’s and felt like it had been sat there for a good 10/15 minutes before being served to me and it was very oily my partner had a chimichanga which the pastry was all soggy and the chicken inside was dry. Plenty of waitresses were working but not one came over to check if food was ok. In the end we had to go to the bar to get our bill and pay as no one could be bothered to come over. Feel like our night was ruined by this experience. Waste of money and definitely won’t ever be returning.

Visited on a Groupon Voucher deal. Wow what great food and in big portions too. The Nacho started was amazing and could easily have been a main course. Really struggled to eat my main which is unheard of for me. Definitely recommend.

No tendemos a comer mucho en estos días debido al costo, pero con este acuerdo de Groupon pudimos elegir cualquier entrante de hasta 4. 95 y cualquier principal hasta 14. 95 para nosotros dos. Como el trato especial era solo 19 para nosotros, realmente fue una ganga. Para ser sincero, nuestras expectativas no eran demasiado grandes después de haber probado otras ofertas de Groupon, con menús especiales limitados, por lo que nos sorprendió gratamente.

Good, tasty food but on the pricey side and the amount of sour cream I got with my chilli was pitiful.

Have visited many times always very good, last visit was awful waited over a hour for our food to arrive, only 8 other customers in the whole place, were not told the card machine was not working until it was time to pay our bill of £80...we were them told oh there is a cash point over at the co-op 100 yards up the road,staff very rude and dismissive, poor attitude towards customers, will not be returning, atmosphere very flat and boarding, food was OK but not worth the money.

On a trip to plymouth we decided to go somewhere different for a bite to eat , we decided on going for mexican cuisine...first impressions were good the place was bright and cheery ,we was greeted and shown to a table , the menu had plenty on it so it was not hard to choose from , i ordered the chilli beef quesadillas and my wife ordered the chilli con carne , both meals were well presented and the food was tasty , so all in all our experience was positive. thank you

Visité con un par de amigos con el acuerdo de groupon. La comida era estupenda y el groupon significaba que era una excelente relación calidad-precio. Desafortunadamente, el servicio y la comida eran bastante lentos y las camareras eran bastante bruscas, al borde de la mala educación, y no parecían tener mucha información. Regresábamos por la comida, pero no por el servicio.

Everything was sticky, everything needs a good clean! Understaffed. All dishes are swamped with coriander yet still fails to be anything other than bland. Really disappointed, shall not return!

I’ve known this restaurant for years but I had never visited it until recently that I got some Groupon vouchers and it was amazing, now I wish I had been there before. Big portion, a lot of taste and great price. I will be back soon.

No complaints from us, we ate from the early evening menu and got 2 for 1 cocktails. The portions are big, food is tasty and we were served quickly. Would rather eat here than somewhere like chiquitos any day.

Trip advisor Reviews didn’t suggest it was that bad but it just goes to show nothing is guaranteed. Should have known what to expect when the chicken enchiladas landed on the table not 5 minutes after order was taken. Either it was prepared and Frozen then warmed in the microwave or made earlier in the day and warmed either way it was Dire. Hardly any chicken, a bit of sauce and the tortillas tough, just like chewing a bit of leather. A portion of chips and a poor bit of salad on the side. Not a good experience and one that I wouldn’t be repeating anytime soon.

We went tonight in the groupon early menu!! Wow!! Fantastic!!.....great tasting food, homemade salsas , rubs, guacamole and sauces . Excellent value for money! Great service! Definitely coming again 👍 Thank you so much

Después de un día ajetreado en Plymouth, decidimos buscar un lugar para comer, no habíamos reservado en ningún sitio y al ser 6 de nosotros nos encontramos con este increíble hallazgo y afortunadamente, aunque estaba ocupado había una mesa para 6, el personal fue muy amable y el servicio era excelente, teníamos una mezcla de entrantes desde nachos a vieiras y tortillas de langostinos que sabían increíbles, los platos principales eran igualmente buenos, especialmente las fajitas de mariscos que se embutían con langostinos, vieiras, calamares y salmón cocinado en ese mexicano ahumado camino.

Así que estábamos caminando y tratando de decidir dónde comer cuando dije ¿qué hay de este lugar? Llegamos solo unos minutos antes de que el tiempo se agotara en una cena de dos platos a primera hora de la tarde, que funciona hasta las 7 pm a partir de las 5 pm.

Been to this restaurant a couple of times, it is always busy. Never booked but they have found a table somewhere. The food is good quality Mexican, along with Mexican beer.

My wife and I had a meal on Saturday night which was average in price and taste. We have been to many Mexican restaurants and this one I would give 5 out of 10 for food quality. A small bottle of beer was expensive. The staff were polite but the waiting time for a meal was quite long and to be truthful there are better places to eat in Plymouth.

Visitamos un sábado por la noche. Reservamos una mesa, pero debido al estacionamiento llegamos 10 minutos más tarde. La espera para nuestra mesa fue más larga de lo que nos habían dicho. Para empezar, nos sirvieron las bebidas equivocadas y tuvimos que esperar un poco para que nos atendieran. La comida era de buena calidad, el personal era amable, pero la espera para el desierto y el proyecto de ley eran destructores del alma. Creo que en un momento me quedé dormido, me senté a la mesa y juré que había estado allí tanto tiempo que experimenté el deja vu. Había una estatua mexicana en la entrada, quién sabe, que podría haber sido un cliente. Cuando la camarera se acercó para decirnos que se habían quedado sin el desierto que queríamos, le pedí que hiciera lo que fuera porque me había sentado allí durante tanto tiempo que no podía sentir mis piernas. El restaurante estaba destinado a cerrar a las 22:00, salimos 40 minutos después. Entonces, buena comida, buen personal, buen lugar, simplemente no volvería a ir un fin de semana otra vez. Al menos nuestro grupo tenía un buen sentido del humor para llevarnos a través de la espera.

¡Después de 20 años en Texas y México tuve un poco de ansia por los mexicanos! El restaurante estaba lleno, lo que parecía una buena señal. La Margarita estaba bien (aunque 7 por una pequeña parecía cara), los nachos estaban quemados y no tenían mucho en el interior, por ejemplo, no se podía encontrar la carne y faltaban algunas cosas que esperábamos. El guac, la salsa y la crema agria funcionaron bien, aunque no estoy seguro de cuál fue el ingrediente secreto del guac: -) (Guac mezclado no picado). Los burritos también fueron quemados y las tortillas, por lo tanto, un poco incomible, aunque el relleno de pollo era bastante bueno, aunque eso era todo lo que había dentro.

Just had £65 worth of Deliveroo and it was terrible....the nachos look like they’ve been in that foil for 84 years, the burrito had broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and sweet corn in it so it might’ve as well have been a roast, all that was missing was Yorkshire puddings. You can tell that they haven’t changed their oil for at least a week, as my partner has been a chef for 17 years. I am truly disappointed.

Best Mexican I've had in a long time. The food is full of flavour with good portion sizes. They were happy to accommodate for changes to the food which was great not only to benefit the me the customer but is always a good sign it's made fresh. They charged me for extra sour cream which was a surprise but the cost of the meal and drinks was reasonable. I'd definitely come back when I'm in plymouth next.

I booked a works night for the team at this restaurant and from the start it wasn’t going well, I eventually booked over the phone for an average of 35 people and paid a deposit of £175 because they told me that I had to book ASAP due to high demand. When I sent them the Christmas food list only 31 people wanted to go and paid the deposit so I paid the extra £20 which I thought would be fine I would just take that off the total amount. On the night we was the only group in the restaurant with one other couple so not very in demand as they said, 3 people from the team didn’t show up so I informed the waiter of this and I got a young lady who came back to me and said that I would still have to pay the full amount due to the restaurant already making the food which I thought was a bit unfair because this is why you pay a £5 deposit per person, the food arrived so fast after sitting down it was very poor standards and taste for a Mexican restaurant. Once I received the bill I was shocked not only did I have to pay for the 3 people who didn’t turn up they also only took £155 for a deposit instead of the original £175 claiming that I lost £20 deposit due to me booking 35 people at the start and only 31 came, I complained and the response I got was “the manage has already taken that money” so at this point I was asked to pay £74 extra and on top of that they had the cheek to charge me a service charge of 10% which I refused to pay after losing money and poor pre-cooked food.

Went for date night. It was a good night. Very busy and noisy but there was a large group in that may well have been a stag outing but the staff dealt with it all quite admirably.

Called here after our day shopping in Plymouth Food as always fantastic. So tasty. Service excellent

Booked a table for two with my girlfriend. On arrival was told they don't have a table. Completely defeating the point of allowing people to book.

This restaurant is reasonably small and decorated in a Mexican Taverna style giving it a great atmosphere.

Visited as we were in holiday in Plymouth for the weekend. Visited Friday evening to take advantage of their happy hour on cocktails and the early bird menu. Cocktails were great, very friendly staff. Amazing food and big portion size. We opted for the ‘2courses for £14.95’ menu as we were ok a budget but it did not disappoint! The topped nachos were a great starter and my veggie chimichanga was the best I’ve ever had! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Recently dined here for a family meal, the staff were great and couldn't assist you enough, the food was really tasty and the portion size was overly generous, not to forget the great deal they had on cocktails. I loved the authentic Mexican decor inside it really contributed towards an outstanding Mexican experience. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for Mexican food or generally looking to eat in and around barbican

I went to Arribas mexican restaurant with my family children included staff were brilliant very friendly food was very nice had a variety of different foods to choose from overall a very enjoyable experience would recommend to anyone

Staff on hand and helpful unfortunately food was very bland and not very enjoyable. Venue had just eat stickers slapped all over made it feel very low quality which matched the food wouldn’t recommend to anyone especially on the Barbican which has so many eating establishments

We went to Arribas hoping for a great Mexican but were unfortunately served what appeared to be reheated frozen food and were really disappointed with the food. The service was good but sadly the food really let them down and we won’t be returning.

Excellent and well portioned food. Friendly and attentive staff. Couldn't ask for more, happy Chiquitos was fully booked and I found this!

Beautiful food and massive portions, you will not leave feeling hungry! Friendly and attentive staff, can't wait to come back 👍🏻
