Lovely food and lovely service let down by bland decor and a cold restaurant. Not sure if the heating wasn’t coping or it had not been put on as there were very few people in due to it being a Sunday. A shame as the dishes really were very tasty and there is very easy parking across the road in the carpark.

if i could give this place a zero i would. the food is terrible and the management do not take feed back well at all, infact i was accused of being "aggressive" because he did not like the things i was telling him. Starter: we ordered the butterflied king prawn. how very dissapointing. it came out looking as if it was a birdseye packet fish finger. mains: we ordered to mains both of which basically tasted the same. no individuality of spices although they where two completely different dishes. naans as expected chips again thankfully they got this right. when i gave my feed back firstly about my starter the manager admitted it was not fresh and that it was out of a packet. very dissapointed. he then argued that i should have said something which worried me even more about his attitude towards customer service. we told him there was no spices even though we asked for one of the dishes to be at a jalfrezi hot style. this was the best bit. the manager said their cooking is made bland because the english people like it...... i am not english im sikh and when i said but you know we are not english so why would you not cater towards our taste his response was "you are being aggressive". could not face the fact that his food was bland hes told us they only cater towards english people who only apparently like bland food or food come out of a freezer packet. if any of my english people want authentic indian food dont bother going here. they clearly are fooling you and some of you may think that your getting great food and can handle the spices. you are wrong the only way you are handling the spices here are because there are none. best going down belgrave road to one of the many indian restaurants who will not base their cooking on the colour of your skin but will cook you what should be real indian food. now i know why this restaurant is usually empty. Aroma spice......hardly i think you should rename yourself.....NO SPICE. good bye

Just been this evening for my mum's birthday. My sister arranged it and has been before. Very impressed with everything, fantastic service, really friendly and the food was great. I don't like it when there is alot of grease in dishes and my chicken Tangri (never had one before) had very little but was full of flavour and heat. Spot on all round!

My husband and I had an impromptu take away comprising of poppadoms, an onion bhaji, a curry each, some rice and a naan. The onion bhaji was dry and lacked flavour and whilst my husband’s curry was OK, mine was absolutely awful. Firstly the curry they call butter chicken is absolutely nothing like a butter chicken, containing banana and ghee, totally abnormal and the taste was abysmal. The chicken was burned and bits of burn were dropping off into the horrible tasting curry. I couldn’t eat it, neither could my husband. Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

This was the first Indian take away we had ordered in for many years-as normally eat out but sadly our favourite place closed last year....so really wasn't expecting to be impressed to be honest. As it was fairly local, we overlooked the "ratings" for best food and gave it a try. Ordering was straight forward (all a bit rushed as out all day) - we thought it was just a take away - and was surprised when a very/pleasant/smartly dressed guy in a waistcoat delivered it!! Nice I thought. Well....we were so impressed from the first mouthful. The dips were spot on-fresh/tasty/papodoms - lovely mango dip. The rest of our meal was so so nice....how they got the fresh bite of veg/spice into every dish is very impressive for sure - compliments to the chef!! In fact my son told me to shut up in the end and just eat. Great food thank you - little more cauliflower/sauce on the veg/potato options please as a bit dry for veggi X

Not been here for ages. Daughter was invited to a friends last minute so decided to make the most a child free evening. Walked down to the village, popped in Tesco purchased a nice bottle of wine then continued to the Indian restaurant. They seated us quickly and was served promptly. I had fish pakoras which was yummy, the can’t remember the name of the curry but was one of the new chef specials, rice and a sagg nann. Overall a lovely evening, food drinks, good company and efficient service from the staff.

Came as 2 couples, popadoms and dips to start.... can’t really go wrong. Tikka masala was tasteless! It seemed watery. so, I heard that Aroma Spice is a lovely restaurant but my experience was far from what I would call "satisfactory". Arrived with "bae" on what I would call and unofficial date. Let's just mention "bae" is also Indian and obviously has a taste for curry. But we ordered starters, which was average, nothing too much nor any less. Our main was tikka paneer, which was medium. Apparently not... I've had a chicken wrap from KFC Spicier then that. I mean I was so disappointed. We also ordered garlic Nan bread, which o was hoping it smelt strong which even that tasted plain. At the end of the meal we asked for our bill, £31 it came to, and it really wasn't worth what we've paid. I've been to better restaurants before, where we've had a lot more, and better service and we would pay an extra £5. I wouldn't recommend this place, and I doubt I would be returning to that restaurant in the near future. Room for improvement.

This place is amazing, seriously, you have to go. I've eaten in India and this place ranks alongside one of the top hotels in bangalore. The food is rich and tasty, great portions of meat and the breads (which are my yardstick of the quality of an Indian restaurant) are light, tasty and authentic. The staff are fantastic and it's no surprise that the restaurant is busy and take away business also seems on the up.This is now our Indian restaurant of choice.

Upon arrival there was a very rowdy group of people who couldn't control their children, the evening did not start well. We received our poppadoms and starter within a reasonable time. The main course, however took an inordinately long time to arrive and still we had to listen to the inconsiderate rabble across from us.The main courses were poor with a distinct lack of either prawns or chicken and the sauce was rather bland. The naan bread was acceptable.A very disappointing evening especially as it was meant to be a birthday celebration. I don't expect to go out for a meal and for everyone to sit in silence but the noise levels and behaviour of others was totally unacceptable. We will not be returning.

We have previously had a takeaway meal from the Aroma Spice after a tiring homeward journey. This time we had more time and energy to enjoy a full meal at the restaurant. We are sort of restricting our intake of calories and going to the gym to lose weight so we both went for tandoori dishes, thinking they would include less in the want of sauces. Half right! My wife went for a tandoori mixed grill and this was tasty but not immersed in sauce. Mine was a garlic-based tandoori special in a fairly thick sauce. We 'just' had poppadoms and pickles, a pint of lager and a chapati each and did not require a dessert, but we're given a complimentary liqueur to finish. We were eating early and, although other couples did drift in, the restaurant was not really busy at all. It should be! Like us, several customers called in to collect takeaways and will have enjoyed them. So come back when you have the time and enjoy a tasty meal, served at a leisurely but attentive pace in a restful atmosphere in a corner of Birstall opposite a free car park.

My wife and I ate here for the first time, having selected Aroma Spice based on the the positive reviews detailed in Trip Advisor. The restaurant / take-away is fairly small and first impressions when entering the dining area isn't positive! The decor and flooring looks "grubby". The whole place feels dirty and my immediate concerns were, "if the owner doesn't care about front of house presentation, what is the condition / standard of hygiene in the kitchen"!With reservation, we remained seated! The service was only just OK. It was't especially busy (early Thursday evening) however, there were long waits at the start and end of the meal (most Indian restaurants I've been to are quick to bring out poppadoms and pickles, but not here!).The king prawn tikka sauce was a "vivid red" colour. Although I can't be sure, it looked liked a food colorant had been added which I thought was outlawed these days! The starters were nice and in the main the food was palatable, but nothing special or anything that you wouldn't find in the majority of other Asian eateries. We wouldn't return here based on the overall experience as there are so many better places to eat if you consider the importance of hygiene, decor and quality of food.

While visiting the little village of Birstall, just outside of Leicester, England, my group of five had a wonderful meal here. It was not our first visit, and it won't be our last. Although having a limited seating capacity, the menu is complete with a wide variety of Indian dishes.A few English dishes are available. They also do take away. and delivery. We consulted with the owner who suggested a selection of dishes to please all palates. Dishes can be prepared mild to very spicey. Wisely, as it turned out, we bypassed the enticing starters, but did have spiced popadams while waiting (not long) for our main dishes. In addition to sides of dal, raitha, and chickpeas, we had two fish dishes, two chicken dishes, and a lamb dish. It was a tasty and satisfying assortment. All came steaming hot, and were placed on hot serving trays. The servers kept an eye on us without imposing. A tempting assortment of desserts, many ice creams, were available, but none of us could indulge, having indulged with the main courses.. After coffee, each of us was offered a complimentary choice of liquors. I chose Cointreau, a delicious way to end the meal.

When I visit my father in Birstall, I try to eat out with some close friends, and for the past three or four visits, we've eaten here, at the Aroma Spice. It's a small, intimate place, so it's sometimes a good idea to make a reservation.A couple of visits ago, a friend and I were there, and we decided to ask the waiter (I think he's more likely the manager) to suggest some dishes. We took his advice, and were really glad we did, because it was delicious. The last two times we were there with four or five people, and one of us isn't someone who eats Indian much (and she lives in Leicester!). She isn't someone who can take really spicy food. So we again asked the guy to make suggestions, and he totally understood; his suggestions were spot on. The most recent time, last Wednesday evening, we decided to take all of his suggestions, including two fish dishes, which we probably wouldn't have chosen by ourselves. The result was a wonderful feast that all of us, including our slight 'wimpy' lady, really enjoyed.I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is intimate, the food is wonderful, and the service/staff are great!

My wife and I fancied an Indian meal but wanted to catch a TV programme. Catch-up is okay if you can avoid everyone telling you what happened before you've seen it. I had eaten with other friends at Aroma Spice and we had had a good evening. On this occasion we decided to order and pick up the meal at the same time. We chose a Tandoori Chicken Tikka and Lamb Rogan Josh with Pulau Rice and a Peshwari Naan and added an Onion Bahjee as a shared starter. We had an ice cold lager while we waited. The staff were very hospitable but not pushy, even though they let on that table bookings were perhaps less than expected for a Saturday night.Service was prompt and, since we had parked in the public car park opposite, we had our meal home in no time. The food was as tasty as I remembered and we were pleased to find complementary poppadoms and relishesincluded. We have had cheaper priced courses elsewhwere but the actual value was excellent and we enjoyed our meal while watching the Commonwealth Games on our own telly. io

This is the first time I've been to the Aroma Spice, it was recommended to me by my in-laws, the owner/manager used to manage the Eastern Garden in Loughborough but moved to the Aroma Spice 10 years ago. From start to finish the service was amazing, the waiters were polite and well presented. The food was some of the nest Indian food I've had in a long time. As a party of 5 we pre ordered the lamb dish, you have to pre order 48 hrs in advance to they can prepare it and marinade it in the spices. Its then slowly cooked for hours. When it was brought to the table the restaurant pretty much came to a stand still, it was served on a huge silver platter and was carved at the table, it was so tender it just fell off the bone. The dish came with another huge platter of special fried rice, and the sauce the lamb was cooked in, decanted into serving bowls. We ordered several side dishes and bread, however I think we may have over ordered, the rest of the lamb came home with us! We had coffee and a complimentary liqueur to end the evening. A truly exquisite meal, I would recommend a party of 6 to 8 more for this lamb dish, there were 5 of us and we had plenty left over. Our meal came to £33 a head with drinks etc but was well worth it, it was a birthday celebration so it was nice to push the boat out. Will definitely be going back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.Just great....

Every time we are in the UK visiting my Mum we HAVE to go to Aroma Spice. This time we went on a very busy Saturday night (there were a couple of groups in) but we were lucky to get shown to a table for two pretty much straight away. I think another group of three had to wait ages for a table, but they were plied with wine to keep them happy, which is fair enough we thought!Servers were friendly and informative and kept us informed about our order as they were so busy, but we really didn't mind the short wait, it was so nice to be out for the evening just us two (Mum was babysitting our 15month old - yay!). This time I had a Tandoori king prawn biryiani and it was very nice and plentiful. My hubby had the lamb pancake dish starter (can't remember what its called!) which he loved and again, a good quantity and a mixed tandoori main. The breads are always very good here too, so we had a variety of paratha/naan etc with our meal too. What we love about this place is the fact that it is a 2 minute walk from my Mum's house, so there's no need to go into the city centre for a good curry night out. The team is very friendly and they know how to keep the diners happy even when they are busy. We really appreciated the little nightcap before we left as well! Thanks guys. Had a table booking for for 7.30pm for 5 people but on arriving at that time we had to sit in the reception area and order our food (obviously to stop us from leaving) sat at our table at 8.30pm and the food starters and food were almost thrown on the table in their haste to seat some other poor people waiting in the reception area. The minute our meal was finished the plates were whisked away and we were told to finish our drinks in the reception area, this was at 9.00pm, we had been at the table a mere 30 minutes.I was expecting a leisurely saturday night meal with friends and have NEVER experienced anything like this before, they were apologetic and did offer us a free bottle of wine (the white wine was nasty) they could tell that we were not happy and offered us an aperitif whilst we sat finishing our drinks in reception. As for the food it was very bland and certainly not worth a return visit, sorry Aroma Spice that we never left a tip (i have never done this before) but the way you treated us was disgusting and we will NEVER return.

We have been going to Aroma Spice for nearly 8 years - there is always a warm welcome, staff always polite & will always help if you need advice about a dish/suggest a different dish you may also like. I think the food is lovely - we live in Loughborough & even have take-a-ways!

I don't know why I didn't write before now - this is our local, just across the park and we eat there or have food delivered a few times every month. They never let us down, and everyone we take asks to be taken back before too long. There are a couple of comments rating service, quality or price being less than excellent which I really cannot understand. Maybe there's another Aroma Spice? Sure you can get cheaper in Leicester, but in over 20 years in the area we've not found anywhere consistently better. We have tried a good number of places over the years, but we still came back to Aroma Spice.Excellent quality food at a very competitive price, cooked and served by the nicest staff around.

Nothing is too much trouble at Aroma Spice whether it be eat in or takeaway. We have eaten there for several years and had home delivered takeaway and the service we get is second to none....wouldn't consider eating a curry anywhere else.

The staff were well organised and the food was well cooked, the prices are exceptional although presentation was at high standards

The food was of a terrible standard and tasted like lamb drowned in ketchup and chilli powder. It was worse than eating a microwave meal. When I complained the manager laughed it off without an apology! If you want my advice you should most definitely stick to dining rooms which is down the road. The food is much better and they care about your feedback and not just your money.

The title says it all. Nice food, good service but nothing any better than you would get at the numerous other restaurants in the area that charge half the price

been to this restaurant several times and received good food & service but upon last visit the staff burned the nan breads. When this was pointed out the staff returned them to the kitchen and picked off the burnt bits and brought them back! When I asked for new ones to be brought the staff said " Asians like their nan bread well done ". They only gave us one new nan bread! I thought what a load of rubbish.

Beautiful food. Excellent service. Clean and comfortable with crisp linen tablecloths. The complimentary liquer is a nice touch at the end of the meal. This is a restaurant with a mature approach to service. They are helpful with menu suggestions and will tailor a curry to your needs if necessary. We live in Australia and eat here annually for our curry 'fix'.

We have eaten at Aroma Spice many times and have never had a bad meal. The food is consistently good. The owner is attentive and genuinely wants his clients to enjoy the evening. Last year we saw the New Year in at Aroma Spice and had a fantastic evening. Would certainly recommend.

The girlfriend and I went around the Christmas period. We found the food excellent and reminded me of being back in Thailand. Even one of the waitresses greeted ourselves in Thai. Perfect restaurant as its just round the corner from our house. Definitely the best Thai restaurant in Leicester. Will be visiting over and over again.
