Armadillo's in Southwark

We went for a dinner on Friday 30th, we have been there several times enjoying enjoying the pensioners meals. My go to meal is the liver and bacon, which is usually nice. However last night while the liver was great the bacon was not. Previously we have had proper bacon, this time the bacon was one slice of processed bacon that was tasteless. Other Armadillos serve traditional bacon why can't you guys do the same

I choose the $19.90 mushroom and halloumi salad for lunch. It sounded good and was the only vegetarian lunch option. It consisted of about one cup of green salad topped with two 4 to 5cm portobello mushrooms and two small very thin rectangles of halloumi. It was good, but I expected about twice as much for the price and the fact it was called a main. Realistically it should have been no more than a $12 starter. The rest what I had (fries and shared an apple crumble) was acceptable. Not bad, not great. The coffee was extra hot as I'd asked for so hats off to that. The waiter was lovely, and very helpful with peoples queries around food requirements/allergies.

We went with a group of roughly 25 people (pre-booked) for a Christmas-doo. Restaurant was busy, but not in overload (still a number of tables free). It took the service 30 minutes to take the orders (just for food, drinks are self-service from the bar). 10 minutes later the service came back and told us that mains will take 30 minutes to prepare. And yes, 40 minutes after taking the orders the first meals did arrive, however it took another 20 minutes until the last order came. Pretty disappointing - the first served group was at that time already finished with their meals. Food quality - well, my fish'n chips tasted fresh - but was it worthwhile a 60 minutes wait and a $33 bill? Not sure. My wife had the seafood chowder, which looked good (and she liked it), but she had during the night and in the morning after some stomach problems, so not quite sure about the quality. In summary: - food ok(-ish), service - negligible (the waitress didn't even refill the water bottles on the tables) and, if you come as group, don't expect to eat as a group. Kitchen delivers slow and erratic. I know, times are tough for hospitality, but after experiences like this I am wondering whether we should have the next function at home.

This was belated birthday celebration and took 8 1/2 year grandson and we found the staff fantastic. Very welcoming and genuinely friendly waitress and she made us very comfortable. Food was very good; tasty and value for money. Balloons on table for birthday person and a goodie bag for grandson which he absolutely loved. This is the 3rd visit in the past 5-6 weeks and every time, the staff really make the place. Will definitely come again for a perfect experience. Thank you to the staff😀😀😀😀😀

Booked a table for v5 in a quiet corner so we can talk as the dinner party had not seen each other for about 18 months, not a problem when you book online. arrive at the restaurant for dinner and it was a little busy but not overly and where they seated was probably OK but we were next to family group with kids and the parents were making more noise than the kids. We asked to move which and they moved us into a quieter room thank you for that. The food was mediocre at best and the wait was nearly an hour they did warn us about the party of 20 in front of us. But we had lots of time to talk. I will go back but will need to think about when the best time is!

Our 2nd visit to Armadillos Halswell...Previous visit was pre covid so a long time between eats. There was a big crowd in on the Tuesday night dined and while we were shown to a table immediately there was a bit of a wait after ordering. ..20 to 25 minutes before our meals arrived. That aside the meals were excellent. A lamb hotpot and the seafood works went down very well. The waitresses were excellent and the prices in line with what you'd expect...two mains and a drink each came in at just under $80.00 Armadillos is obviously as popular for its bar and quiz night as for its restaurant. Great to see the life in these suburban eateries after such a rough period.

Do not recommend at all. Service appalling with no atmosphere. Need change of staff to bring it back to a great place to visit.

Had lunch with a group of 8 people. The waitress was prompt in attending to our table. We ordered our main courses which were fine although the wait time was longer than it should have been, considering the place was pretty empty. We then ordered deserts and coffees etc. This was where the problem started. I cannot drink ordinary milk, so I asked for a Soy coffee. The waitress said they didn't have enough call for Soy milk, and they didn't have any. As everybody else had ordered deserts and coffees. I thought, not a problem, I could pop next door and grab a Soy coffee from there. But I was told that they would not allow me to bring my own food or drinks into the restaurant. I thought.... you must be having a laugh... when they couldn't meet my dietary request on the milk. My only option was to Stand outside in the cold and drink it whilst the others finished theirs. I understand they want to sell all of their food and drinks, but to not allow me to bring in a takeaway coffee, because they were unable to provide one, was ridiculous, especially as there was only one other person in the restaurant at the time. So, they pissed me off big time and our group of 8 will not return in the future. IF ONLY THIS ESTABLISHMENT WERE TO USE A LITTLE COMMONSENSE - NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE.

Went to celebrate my 70 th birthday with family including 4 grandchildren The service was great as were the meals especially the kids menu Had a great night thank you Armadellos Beckenham

After booking for lunch at Moon under Water and being underwhelmed by the terrible menu, we left and went to Armadillos instead. So so glad we did. The menu and service was YUM and really attentive wait staff made our lunch great 👍 If you are looking for great beer, go for Moon under Water, but if after great food, then cross the road !!

Came out for a nice dinner after a busy day of work and that was the opposite of what we received. The food was average and we got severed the wrong meal. during our dinner all you could hear were the waitresses gossiping about there personal lives and not taking any notice of the guests in the restaurant. Do not come hear unless you want to be served by people who are only there to get paid and catch up with your friends. (Wait staff we’re standing doing nothing all night, blond girl with glasses, girl with brunette hair up in a bun and a young boy with brown hair)

Please avoid save your money and avoid this place, being told what and why is unacceptable,rude staff have been going once a week for 3 years celebrated birthdays dinner with friends and family. High turn over of staff and food is average. So after 3 years and spending a lot of money today is the last day,

Really enjoyed our meal here which was good quality and very well priced. Our order got "lost" in a large group and we ended up waiting over an hour - we were given a free drink each and then the manager also comped one of the meals. This was great service and it was initiated by them, not us. Much appreciated and we'll go back!
