Aran Hufen Ia in Gwynedd

I remember the original siop opposite the gulf garage. 2018. This is nothing like it used to be, we diverted to Bala just for the ice cream. The thing missing is the cream, it's not made the same artisan way, probably half the fat and lots of fillers. Yes it's tasty, but melts too quickly, it's far more watery. Just an average ice cream shop. Nothing special

Lovely ice cream with a great variety of flavours to choose from . We had rum n raisin and fudge flavours in a chocolate semi covered cone. The service was very good from the young staff member , very pleasant. It's worth a drop by !

Oh, how we love this shop - been going since they very first started in the smaller shop over the road. This time we had: Cherry, Cherry Cheesecake, Vanilla, (Kinder) Bueno. The Beuno is off the charts - buy hey, save some for us!!👍👍👍

What a find! Stunning homemade ice cream (you can really taste the difference) and a charming, warm welcome. The rum.and raisin was gorgeous, as was the chocolate 😊. My husband was talking about his cherry cheesecake, or was it cherry Bakewell? for the rest of the afternoon 😋.

Have lived here many years and never been into the shop, tried it for the first time and it was great. The fact they make it in store is even better.

The best ice cream for miles. Made in the shop and always new and unique flavours to try. I love their chocolate sorbet as its dairy free but delicious. I wish I could try all the wonderful other concoctions. But my hubby and kids reliably inform me they're delicious. They had blueberry pie and daim bar ones. Even the Mr whippy ("Chwippy"! 😜) is a home made recipe, which my other daughter loved! Also the best coffee in town ☕😋 Lovely to see small businesses like this thriving and there were lovely locally made and sourced gifts and things in the store too. I'll be visiting every time I'm within an hour from this place in future!

Came over to see my family and we popped to Bala, my little brother wanted an ice cream. This happened to be the first place we spotted so we went in. it was so so good, i had white chocolate and raspberry and it was genuinely one of the best we’ve had! my parents tried a rhubarb sorbet, and she was delighted. You can definitely see why it’s a top rated ice cream shop:)

Amazingly creamy ice cream! Stumbled across this place by accident and would fully come back to Bala just for the ice cream! They also have a fab vegan range which was perfect for our daughter who can't have dairy, she had a cherry sorbet which was the most cherriest ice cream I've tasted!

*AVOID* Worst Ice cream we’ve ever had. The texture was disgusting and somehow the ice cream wasn’t even cold. We all got two scoops (£4.50 each) with all different flavours, and they ended up in the bin. Would give 0 stars if I could, don’t understand how they’re in business! What a waste of money!

A brilliant find. Stopped for fuel across the road and was tempted by the long queue for ice cream outside the shop. Salt caramel double scoop was very creamy and delicious and the raspberry was tart and sweet as it should be. Lovely ice cream and worth the visit to Bala in its own.

If you like ice cream which tastes creamy and fruity. Not half fat-unleaded-decafinated but the full-on taste; This is the one. I had raspberry and my wife had salted caramel. Biscuits for our dig too!

Left a very greasy oily substance in our mouth and lips couldnt get it off unless we scrubbed with a napkin greasyness was still in our mouths 15 minutes after we had stopped eating the ice cream. Not sure what ingredients you use but if you can use less it would make your ice cream much better.

Had ice cream here last week while visiting Bala I seen a sign of flavours of ice cream and seen Nutella and was instantly sold and what can I say I wasn’t disappointed what a lovely creamy and flavoursome ice cream and then to find out after speaking to the lovely duo Sion and sammy they make it themselves!!!! Absolute must in my mind !!

We have our camp down the road and every year I visit this place for ice cream or waffles. It is THE BEST ice cream in wales, no, Britain and it has amazing waffles! Also, you can have ice cream tapas, which is genius and the decor makes it a real special place to be. Oh and the owners and staff there are so friendly. Love love love!

Me, husband and young daughters had ice cream here and its the creamiest, tastiest I've ever had, from anywhere in the world. We all agreed. I had Irish Cream, basically Baileys on a stick... SO good.I'd travel to Bala, an hour from me, just for this!

We try to visit Aran Hufen whenever we are in Bala. Today we ordered a cone each. I had a raspberry crush, our son had mint choc and my partner chose rum and raisin. All 3 were as delicious as ever. Keep up the good work.

The best ice cream in North Wales. Home made. From real cream. Amazing flavours. My favourite this time was the carrot cake. How they made it taste just like carrot cake, I have no idea! Brilliant.

Very honest 5*. Owners are lovely, ice cream is heavenly creamy. Lemon curd and peanut butter will always stay in my memory. I miss it already!!!

Visited 3 times in the week we stayed in Bala. My 5 year old was very impressed and excited about her unicorn cone (so many varieties of cone) and unicorn sprinkles. She enjoyed the vanilla two days and the mango. I enjoyed the chocolate, rum raisin, mango (a close second) and my ultimate favourite peanut butter. Friendly and helpful staff. Obviously incredibly proud of his flavours and rightly so. Small seating area inside. Parking on the road (free 1 hour stay) or a pay and display car park round the back a 5 min walk if that.

Went for a coffee with a friend and two 8 year olds. Delicious coffee, amazing milkshake and tasty ice cream. Nice that they are all additive and colouring free! Very friendly owner. Will definitely return.

We have been here before this time double scoop cones 1 x vanilla and lemon curd and 1 x honeycomb crunch and chocolate. You get enough ice cream not to have to eat for the rest of the day! Superb flavours and quality, don’t miss out.

We had been walking round the lake for the hole day & finding this little place was ideal at the end of the day. It was way past the time he said he shut on the door but had stayed open as people were still going in due to the heat.

I tried cookies and cream and the raspberry burst. Cookies and cream is amazing for any Oreo lover and the raspberry one was gorgeous too. Both were so creamy and the portions were very generous compared to the stingy ice cream parlours we are used to, my only top tip would be to make sure you have enough room in your stomach and don’t eat anything too creamy for the rest of the day!

We tried four flavours: vanilla, honeycomb,salted caramel and cherry. (I think).

Came here during a family camping holiday. They only had one flavour of vegan ice cream, chocolate, but oh it was incredible. Will be back for more! Other ice cream flavours sampled by the family were raspberry and honeycomb and apparently they were fab too.

Up there with the absolute best ice cream that we've ever had the fortune to taste! Mint choc chip and rum raisin were soooo good - especially in a chocolate coated waffle cone (naughty!). When your time on Bala Lake is up forget the Carte D'Or ice cream cafe at the entrance to the car park and definitely nip down the road to Aran Hufen Ia - you will NOT be disappointed!

Lovely little dog friendly Welsh ice -cream parlour in Bala, gives me all the vintage vibes! I had their homemade Vegan chocolate ice-cream which was probably the most chocolatey ice cream I've ever had! I really love they make an effort to work with local Welsh suppliers, too. Got to say their hot chocolate with vegan squirty cream was a treat - nice to see it wasn't just powdered, and it was from a melted chocolate button - reminded me of Italy! Fantastic friendly husband and wife duo. Will be back Diolch!

Wonderfully varied flavours, all tasty and very friendly staff, a real asset to the area and a must visit!

Tiny ice cream parlour that sells delicious and unusual flavours of ice cream. We were pleasantly surprised to find that they have gluten free cones, but you have to ask for them. They could do with rethinking the seating area. It's a tight squeeze to get past the tables to the counter, but well worth it if it is sunny!

Salted caramel ice cream in between 2 Welsh cakes for me and carrot cake with lavender and honey ice cream for Wendy, life doesn't get much better than this. Washed down with 2 damn good cappuccinos. Perfect fuel to cycle back to Dolgellau . Pay a visit, you won't be sorry.

Wonderfull place! I live in Bala and this little Ice Cream shop is by far one my favourite, fabulous ice cream, deliciously creamy, and extremely nice people running the place, welcoming and kind, I'm incredibly lucky to live near there!

While holidaying in Wales I visited this ice cream parlour with my family and we were not disappointed. The ice cream was very delicious and of a high quality. The couple running the place were extremely welcoming and this made the whole experience enjoyable and I felt like I was in an old style ice cream parlour. Loved it

What a fantastic ice cream cafe, with lovely decor and friendly service. Great menu choices, with fantastic ideas like ice cream tapas. A wonderful option, which gives you the chance to try lots of flavours. The ice cream itself is really superb and so beautifully presented, truly a cut above all but the very finest. If you love ice cream, you really must try this cafe. I just wish we were in Bala more often, as we wanted to try everything.

My wife daughter and I stopped off in Bala for lunch today and had a bit of a wander around, we fancied an ice cream and were attracted to Aran Hufan Ia as the sign outside promised that the ice cream was made on site. We weren't disappointed by our choice. We each had a waffle cone with two types of ice cream (I had salted caramel with chocolate ) and it was delicious. The atmosphere in the ice cream parlour is very relaxed and the couple who own it are very friendly. I would recommend this place highly.

Always amazing ice cream and well worth queueing! We usually visit if in Wales even if it means a lengthy round trip!

Back in Bala for a few days we paid a visit to our favourite ice cream shop. We opted for a can't decide box to eat at home. The flavours we opted for were:
