Anton's in East Ayrshire

This place changed hands a few months ago and now is one of the worst I have been to. I will not return. I asked about gluten free food. Their reply was," what's that" They are serving food to the public and should know about allergens and intolerance. Besides the lack of food knowledge, they are now charging top prices for mediocre quality food and even got my wife's order wrong for a simple chips and cheese. Served chips and curry. They even tried to charge us for the wrong order. Poor quality food at top prices and no idea of food standards.

Not impressed at all. Ordered 3 meals chips were cold, next to no batter on the black pudding supper. Won't be back.

Was a great chippy. Not now. New owners have bought cheap food and don't know how to fry them. Batter was slimy on a tasteless haggis. Chips are undercooked every time. Sorry won't be back.

Food brilliant. Ordering and service a bit chaotic. Needs a better queuing system and communication I feel. Servers friendly when engaged.

Very fast service and good quality of food.

Been going to Anton for years and it was my favourite but unfortunately under the new owners the recipe has changed and is now cheap, rotten and generic like most chip shops are becoming. The batter specifically was quite sickening but the sausage was also quite bad. The chips were alright but not worth going back. Sad to say I’ll no longer be going after years of going there.

It has changed ownership, have clearly changed supply’s. Food tasteless, very greasy. Have gone to Antons for years, was always very tasty good food. Not anymore.

Ordered smoked sausage tray box, which consisted of chips, smoky sausage and curry sauce over the top within a foil tray. Very good food, friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.

We have been regular customers here for many a year, every meal was spot on. Tonight i ordered a king rib supper, this was burnt and unedible. Will maybe need to find a new chippy.

Good food, fast service, staff friendly

Food is generally very good but service can be a little slow , not so much fast food as ready eventually food. Prices aren't too bad and some staff can be a little dry with customers. Though not to the point of being rude. There is plenty of parking with some wheelchair accessible spaces.

Everytime it's the same a rare event these days highly recommend the chio shop fab

Single fish and a fish supper £16. Wow its getting expensive when the chippy used to be a working man's meal not anymore 😒

Always get a good meal here, my personal favourite is a sausage supper, you cannae beat it.

Ordered at 6pm still waiting now 8.40pm beyond a joke .

Was closed 530pm sat 23rd July 2022.

Over the last 2 years have used this about 5 to 6 times while over in Killie and you are left standing waiting in the shop for food to be served. 4 staff on and busy but they prioritise just eat/phone orders. So tonight was 15mins wait with 4 folk in front of me.... if you have time to waste..visit here, otherwise go next door to tesco or the Chinese.

Bought fish supoer from here it was vile fish greasy and not cooked properly

Order over 1.5 hours late, requested a discount through just eat of £3 for the lateness which was requested and stated the order would not be cancelled. 45 minutes later still no food. Called and was told that they cancelled the order because I asked for a refund. I said No refund was requested and she laughed and said "aye you wanted a discount so it got cancelled" if you're going to cancel people's order for asking for a discount for your own lateness at least tell them, awful service. Their just eat reviews reflect this on the regular.

I made an order tonight 14th Feb 22 I waited quite a while for my delivery this was the first time we had an order delivered to us me and my husband were looking forward to our food we thought we would have a we take away sit down and enjoy instead of cooking when I unrapped the paper the food was in we were very disappointed the chips were reheats the batterd sausages were terrible and very small will not be making any more orders in this chipshop.

Ordered and waited 1 hour and 50 minutes for delivery. When I called to enquire of delivery time I was asked my address which I gave and the girl asked for it with “ when is 32 somethings ready” not out yet !!, how long I asked ....”in a wee while”........what, eh.....I asked for a time not your estimate. They’re can’t be that many people after fish and chips, shocking for being the most expensive place in Kilmarnock. Surely as you can’t get in they would employ more drivers to keep their customers happy.........Rant over.

Absolute shambles phoned for a delivery an hour ago to phone back and be told it's on it's way to newmilns when I'm only 5mins down the road 🤬🖕

Extremely slow service , deliveries take priority , nothing ever ready , prices extortionate

Prices hiked up when Frydays down the road was closed for a couple of weeks. £8.20 for a fish supper? Aye, right. Weird vibe about the place too. Won't be back.

Okay. Weird how staff don't wear masks (during pandemic) but customers are meant too. Double standards. Food okay.

Batter on fish was like rubber,obviously not freshly cooked and the chips were like cardboard . Won't be rushing back!

Very slow and chips undercooked first and last time here

Don’t often use chip shops for children but while visiting family we tried Antons and children all enjoyed it. The chips and curry sauce my teenage daughter says was the best she has had from any chippy (she has however only had from 2 or 3 chippys 🤣) not overy greasy and priced reasonable. Only one criticism is the staff weren’t friendly that was the only let down.

Great food and great service every time

No had chippy n ages. Used 2 use antons bt bn a long time. Now i no why ages4 delivery! N food tasteless! Nvr again! Wz soo lookin 4ward.it.n wit a mega let down. No taste at all!

Food was a bit pricey but okay. The 1 star is for the appalling customer service. Ordered 3 different lots of chips with sauce which come in foil trays. Asked for them to be wrapped in paper like they used to be as they’re too hot to carry without & didn’t want them leaking in the car. Got the very rude response from staff member saying they ‘cant’ wrap them & that’s why I was offered to buy a bag! Said I’d pay for a bag if they really wouldn’t give me the paper and had to put 5p charge on my debit card! Needless to say after driving a mile back home, the curry sauce had leaked all inside the bag & my car seat would have been a mess if I’d put the trays in the car the way they were given to me. Been going to Anton’s for years but will NOT be back!!

Just had fish and chips from here if I could leave a minus 1 I would have. Fish wasn't that good and chips were soft and hard at bits went to eat it and it was cold. Totally disappointed

Newly refurbished. Got a new munchy box. Was yummy. Enough for two hungry people.

Pre ordered food at 4:30, Antons confirmed order through justeat. Delivery said 6:10, checked around 5:30 still fine on justeat, 6:15 Antons has cancelled order. Disgraceful, no contact from Antons. I believe it’s new owners. Will not be back, got the same order at chipbank cheaper.

I i don't normally leave reviews, but after reading the bad comments on Antons i still went and got a haggis supper and got very quick and a friendly service, nothing like what's been said from a dissatisfied customer or two, i recommend you try this chip shop its great and completely happy with my dinner, i will be back 😊

Top fish and chip. Cheery staff. Huge portions.

Bought fish and chips today as I often do. Won't be going there again. Don't know what's happened to the quality but chips tasted like they had been lying for ages and fish was tasteless and mainly batter. Plus the prices have increased. Definitely not as good as it used to be

Good food friendly staff but sometimes really slow to get served but quality fresh food worth waiting for

Food is good but staff are not too friendly and quite disorganised. One older woman in particular with short black hair is a right grump. No system in place for a queue so often people just walk in and go ahead of you. Staff dont seem to care if they skip, they serve then anyway.

Not a bad chip shop good portions and the staff are frinedly but a we bit pricey

I only stay a 3 minute drive away, was Freezing not just cold and was also food from yesterday. Very over priced for food that wasn't fresh
