Stayed here with friends. Had drinks in the Bar early afternoon, then moved into the cocktail bar and after a freshen up we had dinner in the restaurant . The building is old and has been renovated very tastefully. Lots of Jewell colours on the furniture. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

We stopped off for night on way to Scotland- what a delight Lovely hotel with lots character and a wonderful team Rooms are individual and very comfortable. It’s a very grand hotel with such history so worth visiting & the courtyard is a fab place to hang out even for coffee Plenty of parking in secure areas too They have a nice cocktail bar ( great cocktails) with live music when we were there , bar man super efficient After we had a fabulous meal - very nicely presented and tasty So all round recommend

We got a fabulous deal at £49 for the night and will take dogs for an extra £20 charge. Went direct to the hotel which proved much better than the online booking platforms. Lovely hotel steeped in history and staff exceptional. Only negatives are that the hotel is getting a bit tired and dusty in places. Needs a make-over (unless you see that as part of its character). The breakfast is too dear at £17.99pp when nearby Finkins do a great full English for just over £9. There was no one in the restaurant the 2 times I walked by so other guests must have thought the same. And if I was nit picking, I consider myself tech savvy, but I really struggled to work out how to use the smart TV in the room. It was way too complicated and slow (takes a long time for channels to load). Needs instructions. Would have stayed in the bar in the evening but they don't sell Guinness and the restaurant is closed on a Sunday. This didn't matter as there are some great pubs in Grantham that we went to instead. Overall, for the price, well worth it and dog friendly hotels always get a Brucey Bonus point from me if they take dogs. This additional charge by hotels for dogs seems to becoming more common which I don't object to. Hotels will say its to cover additional cleaning, but I don't think cleaners actually do anything extra. Not sure I'd have scored it so highly if I had to pay the normal price though. If I was playing Channel 4's 'Four in a Bed' I'd say the £69 (inc dog) we paid was about the right price for our stay.

First time in Grantham and was looking for somewhere to each. Big mistake to choose here. Drinks were expensive. The menu choices were limited and overpriced. The food was poorly cooked and no pleasure to eat. I would not recommend.

Smack in the centre. Can't rate room, as not stayed. Staff lovely. A mixture of old meets new, (works fabulously). Very, very old stone, there's some history there. Been for a re-visit, had a snack and hot drink, (hot choc, mmmm😋). Wouldn't want to do it often but as a special treat, it was great. 😁

Great old world hotel which is full of heritage. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic and presented brilliantly. The Car park is behind the hotel the hotel postcode won’t take you to it. I used the post code NG31 6RE which took me to it. Just cross the rod to the hotel. Really friendly and helpful staff.

An excellent Sunday lunch - great quality ingredients and decent portion sizes. We had the beef and the salmon (but there is also, lamb, chicken and veggie options). We were so impressed and will be back soon.

5 Star. I haven't stayed here but came for Easter Sunday Lunch for the first time. Turns out this is a hidden gem! If like us you find Grantham something of a cultural wasteland when it comes to quality food then try the Angel & Royal. First impressions on arriving at the hotel were good with a lovely historical looking courtyard. Once inside reception it has an old world luxury feel to it (not faded glory but rather a dignified quality that is very welcoming). We sat upstairs in the restaurant with the Sunday lunch menu. The starters all looked pretty good and what I saw of others having them they seemed delicious. Between us we had beef, lamb and the veggie nut roast. All were outstanding, I mean really really good, not just "that was nice for Grantham"😁. The service was excellent delivered by a team of young service staff who were extremely pleasant and efficient. The room was delightfully historic and dressed cleanly with good space between tables and diners. The dessert menu, although limited on the Sunday menu was really good too. Overall , great food, great environment for a meal out. Also particularly unexpected in Grantham high street. I can't speak to what it would be like staying here but if the rooms are kept in the same fashion as the communal areas then I suspect it would be nice. I'd wager that breakfast would be quality Thank you Angel & Royal and to the young staff working upstairs on Easter sunday.

The first time I went to the new Bar at the Angle and Royal, it is very well furnished and has a good selection of cocktails and other drinks. A good atmosphere, table service and friendly staff. The only negative I can think of is that the bar is quite small.
