It’s a nice pub, cracking beer garden, service is alright however it’s downhill from there. Sunday roast was very poor, dried out and overcooked, beer even worse, pints were completely flat, I’ve poured better from a can, sent them back to get a head. Prices are expensive, much better available in the area.

AVOID! Going here for a 60th birthday celebration, called ahead to let them know we were bringing our on cake however, when arrived, immediately had hostile reception about it. Once at our table, it only got worse. Service was slow, rude & unfriendly. When our food arrived (an hour & a half later) it was bland, chicken was dry, like eating cardboard & the burger was very rubbery. Unfortunately, we couldn’t say any of this as we weren’t checked if everything was alright. As we further sat and waited for our plates to be collected, we asked a lady who was cleaning an empty table instead for the bill. Once arrived we gave feedback about how long it taken & how bad the food was. She came back with a different bill, taking of one of the chicken dishes. Just to reiterate, the service throughout is awful, rude & unfriendly. I then spoke to the manager at the bar to take a further item off to receive very hostile behaviour back at me. After exposing why this it was, they still refused to give any further refund & the waitress lied to our face that she checked our table. I told the manager she can check the cameras if she wanted to see we were never checked. Unfortunately, the only thing that’s gone up in the Angel & Harp over the years is the price while everything else is declining. We will never be returning and advising all our friends to do the same. The manager should be ashamed of herself for running what was once a great pub into a whatever it is now. Disgusting! AVOID!

No me gustó.

Upon arrival, my partner and I were met with unexpected hostility. The demeanor of the older gentleman was nothing short of absurd. We walked in and politely asked for a table for two. Despite plenty of empty tables around, we were met with a blunt and raised "No," delivered in a tone that felt more like scolding a child than addressing customers. Taken aback, we stood there as he curtly added, "Only space is outside," in an equally dismissive manner. Feeling unwelcome but driven by a lack of other choices in the area we opted to sit outside. However, the unpleasant interaction left us feeling disgusted and unwelcome. When my partner went inside to order and asked why we had been refused a table indoors, a much kinder lady explained they were fully booked. Had this been communicated to us politely from the start, we wouldn’t have questioned it at all. It’s truly a shame that such a man, whose behavior reflects a total disregard for respectful communication towards customers, tarnished our experience from the outset. All other staff members were lovely, and the food itself was excellent—but the initial encounter was nothing short of poor service.

My partner and I recently visited the Angel and harp for dinner on a Friday evening. We live locally and have had many nice meals here. Unfortunately, the last couple of visits (including this one) have not been great. Initially the service was good, we were asked for our drinks order not long after arrival and they were served promptly. However, after that we had to ask to order as we had been sitting there a while trying to get someone’s attention. My starters (mussels) were nice, although they could have had more sauce. My partner had a chicken skewer (not skewers) which was dry and very small for the price. Our main courses took a while but we had noticed that some people had been waiting over 45 minutes from ordering before getting their meals. I had salmon which was overcooked, my partner had fish and chips which was clearly burnt as the batter was dark brown. Have to say the chips are spot on though! As we didn’t eat our meals we were asked if everything was ok by Louise and we told her all of the above and about our previous experience. I feel that she genuinely wants to turn things around there as she took the time to discuss everything with us. She also compensated us for our poor experience. The angel and harp has the potential to be amazing, it has great outside space for the summer and as I mentioned we have had some great meals here. We really hope that they can turn things around.

Unfortunately had a bad experience here on a baby shower in Feb. They change location from inside pub area to outside in a marquee. It was freezing still winter. They had electric points and provided tea and coffee machine. However no staff came to check on us and due to electric cutting off. We had no access to play music, couldn't have heaters on and tea and coffee containers went cold. When we went inside pub to get hot drinks made fresh which by the way we had to pay for the staff rolled there eyes as having to be inconvenienced to make us a drink. The food they provided was so basic and bland.. just a bad experience and will not rush back. Also restricted parking here.

Went here for Sunday lunch. Pub busy but service good considering the number of customers. my wife is gluten free and would have liked the roast beef but they could not offer her a gluten free yorkshire pudding. She opted for the liver and bacon from the gluten free menu I often wonder how an establishment can justify the cost being dearer than the roast beef. I decided to have no sweet but then saw from the specials menu bread and butter pudding. I'm 80 years old and if that was a bread and butter pudding my mum had been cooking that dish completely wrong. The waitress told me it was bread and butter pudding but to my mind it was no more than a sponge (cold) with warm custard poured over it. to rub salt into the wound it was topped with a physalis. Not very often you see this dish on a menu and if this is the modern way of producing the said dish I'll give it a miss in future.

This venue seemed somewhat unhinged today. The service was extremely slow and somewhat uncoordinated ie multiple servers. Our main course was served one and half hours after arriving also a long wait before our desert order was taken, that being said the food was fine. Our Scrabble group chose to have our Christmas lunch in this pub on 10th December 2024 and were not disappointed. Before our lunch we had decided to have a game or two of Scrabble and the waitress, Lorraine, was very helpful and attentive, bringing us our requested drinks and then laying up our table for lunch. We each had a different starter and all were perfect and delicious. Lorraine checked with us regularly to make sure we all received our lunches together even though we were all having something different. One of our group had a nut roast which was such a generous portion that she had half of it wrapped up to take home. The salmon and guinea fowl were also delicious and excellently cooked and served. Desserts were Eton Mess and a home made rapberry, lemon and mango sorbet of generous proportions and a wonderful texture. We cannot fault the meal, the service or the price and will certainly be back again! A Happy Christmas to all the hard workers at the Angel & Harp.

I booked weeks ago but we were stuck in a cold annexe away from the pub centre - no atmosphere. When asked if we could move, despite being one of the first people in the restaurant we were told that tables were allocated by computer and couldn’t be moved?! Young lad doing service tried hard but glasses, drinks and bottles left on the table and drinks had to be chased, not offered. Food was very average, only slightly warm, small portions for the price. A caprese starter with a tiny bit of brown mozzarella. My partners risotto was very poor, barely any Parmesan and some charred lumps of squash. I had scampi served on brown lettuce, no peas or side other than chips - peas were an extra! If we had another option we would have left, average pub food at best. We won’t be recommending or returning.

Firstly, I admit we were 25 mins late, but I had phoned ahead and informed them of this. I was told not to worry, don't rush, just get here. However, upon arrival I was treated like a war criminal by the Maitre'D and (eventually)seated with more scolding remarks. We were made to wait an hour for our food, which was pretty ordinary fare. My parsnips were like pieces of wood (I thought they were pork crackling at first), my side of roast root vegetables was massively overcooked, tasteless mush. My colleague enjoyed his chicken, but he usually eats at a Toby Carvery! The desserts were childish cream and sprinkles. My Tiramisu had no taste whatsoever. It was meant to contain both Kahlua and Vodka, but chef had obviously forgotten this. Not a hint of coffee flavour, or alcohol. One solitary soaked Savoiardi biscuit in a bowl full of cream. On the side was a plain Savoiardi biscuit, laughable. My colleague enjoyed his chocolate brownie. If you like waiting for hours, mushy vegetables, squirty cream and sprinkles, then have at it and book a table. If you like grown-up food, served with a smile then look elsewhere. There are plenty of better places to eat than this.

Visited the A&H today having travelled 20 miles. Well worth the petrol money.. What a good pub? The menu is extremely appealing making choosing very tough. We visited on specials day when the cost of all of the steaks was reduced, my Ribeye by £10. Drinks are not expensive. When we arrived the car parks were full, always a good sign. The pub was just about full with a really buzzie vibe and we were soon asked for drinks. The food was excellent and well presented although it did take a little while to arrive it’s fair to say. This didn’t bother us as it was a reunion but you have to take into consideration this was lunchtime in a very busy pub. The food was well worth the wait though.. All the staff were friendly, well trained and knew their jobs. We were more or less the last to leave but at no stage did we feel hurried or pressured to leave. The bill? £70 per couple represents good value in my book. We were told this was a chain but it didn’t have that feel. Will definitely be returning. Thanks to all at the A&H for an exceptional lunch today.. Don’t post often but felt my experience today worthy of putting online.. GC

On walking in we had no greeting whatsoever, eventually we asked if they had a table for three. The response was “had we booked”. On saying that we hadn’t the lady rolled her eyes and turned her back on us and gently shook her head in annoyance. Segue then took us to a table but continued to be surly. A different lady took our order and I asked for a slight adaptation to one of the burgers. Her annoyance was clear. Food came and was distinctively average at best. I suggest that someone points out to the staff that they are working in the hospitality industry! Felt completely undervalued, certainly would not return or recommend.

We had been told by previous place that dogs were allowed, even 1 that was as big as mine. Where we were supposed to be seated was where dogs weren't allowed. I did offer to put her back in the car but they went above and beyond and moved a table so she could stay. 😊 All staff were friendly, helpful and made the atmosphere warm. Food was yummy! And all slight changes for fussy eaters when ordered were no bother. At the end they even gave my dog a little treat, which as a dog owner makes me happy because shes family 😅 and was treated that way. If I'm ever over that way again, I will definitely chose eat there. If you don't care for dogs in restaurants there is a section where they're not allowed so they cater for everyone 😁

Happily catered for my nut allergy dietary requirements and the atmosphere was great (even though I silenced it with mine and my friends laughing, we were very loud) The only one problem is I wish there was a Guinness tap because unfortunately I had to go with a Murphy's instead which has a relatively same taste to a guineas but it is sweeter and I prefer the bitter taste of the dark draught stout Guiness. unrelated to the restaurant, but the parking is not great, especially coming in an SUV. It can be very tight so much so the cars aren't even parking in bays. They just park in the middle of the car park itself.

We visited the Angle and Harp yesterday for a family lunch. We didn't have a booking but one of the staff members, Harriet, was extremely friendly and smiley and said it was absolutely not a problem and sat us down immediately and asked us if we would like a drink straight away, which was a lovely touch. She then brought our drinks to us very quickly after. Bearing in mind that it looked very busy, we were very impressed. Our waitress then came over, Terry (not sure of the spelling apologies), and she was just as lovely and smiley. The food could have been a little better; the pizza was disappointing on an almost biscuit base and a bit stingy on the tomato base and toppings, but the roasts were tasty, the veg you could tell had been pre-cooked and heated up, and the cauliflower cheese was a little bit burnt. The staff were very friendly when we left, and Terry and Harriet said goodbye. So overall, it was a lovely lunch, and we will be returning. We tried to leave a comment card, but none of us had a pen, so we said we would leave a review online instead.

Servers were attentive without being in the way, all food for 8 arrived out at the same time piping hot. All meals were great. Meals presented well as were the deserts. Host made a point of seeing us in and out which was a nice touch. I really don’t know how anybody could criticise the staff food or the restaurant will definitely return.

Called in on a Sunday hoping for a table for 1. Staff were all very helpful. Food was excellent and all delivered promptly and in an attractive way. Atmosphere inside the pub was great, very traditional feel and all the staff are obviously happy working there.

New menu with more to offer but the portions are now smaller. Service was good but not all the beers were available. Parking is tight.

Experience, very small portions, the steak was chewed and the mussels were old and not edible, so they had to be returned..... Stuff was very friendly

Went for Father's Day breakfast, my father asked to change his fried egg to scrambled egg. This wasn't an option, even though scrambled egg was on the menu. He was offered another item which he took. But he couldn't understand why changing the egg option was a problem . Apart from that all was fine.

I can’t lie the food is actually dreadful. I ordered a meat feast pizza and my partner had pie and chips. He literally got pie and chips with like gravy. The pie was from Iceland for sure ! The pizza was honestly the worse thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. The bacon lumps were literally bacon fat. The sausage part was broken up burnt burger. The salami was the tangiest thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. All on some biscuit base. The only thing I would recommend is the prawn tempura which is obviously from Costco and halloumi fries. Everything else is absolutely shocking and it’ll ruin your appetite for sure.

It an excellent restaurant, it has plenty of well appointed space and the interior decor creates a comfortable environment. The staff were courteous and helpful, the menu was very good as was the food on its arrival too. Highly recommend a visit this establishment. Enjoy.

We went today as a group of 7. The service was slow but we did not mind that because food was excellent and staff were friendly but rushed off their feet. Would definitely recommend. They have a big menu so u will find something u like and they do 2 for 1 offers, each day if the week a different 2 for 1 offer. I had grilled skate which was huge and gorgeous. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal and the mini puddings were lovely

Superb! One of my favorite pubs! Monday is 2 for 1 roast and it was lovely! Great value and really tasty! Pub garden is lovely to sit in, nice marquee too. Inside tge pub it's spotless, beamed, rustic charming. Food is reasonably priced and menus extensive! Desert was sublime. Highly recommended!

Due to a large family booking we were reserved an separate area from the rest of the pub. Rather squashed up, and extremely hot . Food was adequate, nothing special , your standard roast, the normal microwavable veg, on the cold side, nothing to write home about. Service was OK. Don't expect anything other than a bog standard pub roast.

Fantastic Mother's day meal! Catered for our party of 16 and made it look effortless. We had the conservatory to ourselves, it was lovely and warm. Food went without a hitch, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you!
