Andy's Fish Bar in Chesterfield

Have used this chip shop for many years and never had an issue. Recently the food has been very poor, not cooked well and delivery's have taken a long time to arrive. Tonight all 4 meals were soggy and the smell was awful. We called to make them aware and a new delivery was sent. This was less soggy but the awful smell persisted. All 4 meals ended up being left and a lot of money wasted. We won't be using this chip shop again which is a shame as it was a favourite for many years

Dry tasteless food very slow service chips very dry tasteless batter on fish service very poor would not use again

Use Andy’s regularly and have always had excellent service, good value, delicious food and variety on offer, speedy delivery service. Highly recommend.

WE HAVE IN THE PAST OFTEN USED ANDY'S TAKEAWAY USUALLY FOR FISH WHICH WERE USUALLY OK. RECENTLY THOUGH WE HAVE BEEN ORDERING KEBABS. THE KEBABS WERE VERY INCONSISTENT SOMETIMES WE WOULD GET SALAD OTHER TIMES A FEW BITS OF TOMATOES. OUR RECENT ORDER WAS CHANGED THREE TIMES BECAUSE IT WAS WRONG AND EVEN THEN IT WAS WRONG. AS OTHERS HAVE SAID THEIR ATTITUDE TO COMPLAINTS IS A COULDN'T CARE LESS ONE. AFTER GIVING THIS TAKEAWAY OUR CUSTOM FOR MANY MANY YEARS IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE WE GO AGAIN. TALK ABOUT RUDE!!!

Don't waste your money absolutely awful nothing fresh at all cost a lot of money for such awful shocking food have got a picture aswell and replies that got sent back which I will show and I've seen alot of bad reviews lately aswell went straight in bin wouldn't feed it a dog every mind serve a order's what are disgusting full stop and they give nothing but excuses got to press one circle I'd rather it be minus ➖

First time I’ve been here gave me a mince beef pie from night before pastry was hard and filling was Luke warm took it back said I can microwave one for you no thanks even worse gave me my money back x

Just had a homemade gyros kebab meal very filling and fresh with there homemade tazeki sauce great service and fantastic food will be having this again my new favourite kebab see you again soon 5 stars and more

Been a few times to there theme nights and the valentine one was amazing fantastic food,service,amazing atmosphere very very competitve prices too.top qaulity restaurant food in a quiet village bistro 5 stars keep up the good work Thanks mark and netty see you all again soon.

We tried the breakfast today in the new Bistro area. Good service from the lady waitress / cook. And definitely the best breakfast in Hasland. Proper sausages, Lurpak butter and jam with the toast, mushrooms which often aren't included, and a drink as well for only £4.95 (decent latte too). Not a fancy place, but the service and breakfast ingredients more than adequately made up for it.

Fish chips and mushy peas twice and sausage chips and curry sauce. Was lovely I had to wait for the fish as it was cooked to order but was lovely. Reasonable price and friendly efficient service. 👍

What can I say, its a lovely place (no pun intended) to get fish and chips, or like we did last Friday just chips and had a good old fashioned chip butty.Developed a nice little Bistro/Cafe next door now as well, really looks nice but havent been in yet.

Fabulous. No other fish bar matches up for us. Food always fresh - our haddock is always cooked from scratch and is absolutely delish.

Very greasy,loads of greasy batter on fish,chips not nice either. Very disappointing. Fish was small and the amount of batter gave it the appearance of being much bigger than proved to be the case. I shall not revisit.

The Fish Bar has recently had a Bistro attached. This was our first, but not last visit. The Greek Cypriot Chef had devised a Greek Meze day. We booked at the very reasonable price of £10pp. I wasn’t expecting too much for that money but, from the minute we opened the door it was obvious we would have a good time. The greeting we received from both the waitress and the Chef was wonderful. So friendly and we even got to use our 5 words of Greek. I think we had 20 different dishes from salads, olives,tsaziki to Stefado, Mussaka, And Kleftiko finishing with Baklava and another dessert. It was all freshly cooked and wonderful. The Bistro is unlicensed so take your own booze. They do sell soft drinks. We were so impressed that we booked for a Valentines Meal.

Very nice fish shop good variety of products lovely staff and efficient service now includes a small cafe on the premises

Our business is just down the road from here and we visit a fair few fridays for "chippy friday" probably one closet chippy you will get that reminds you those seaside chip shops. Never had a bad meal.

Top class food and service every time very helpful. And friendly always big helping of chips fresh from the frier

Well what can I say. Food spot on again, friendly service again. Will I go be going back. YES. If one thing about this place is parking but cannot be helped. But do what I do park nearby and walk its worth it.

Food was lovely and hot and lots of. Can not wait to go back and try there breakfast menu. Warm and welcoming.

Two young girls playing with each others hair and swearing whilst serving. Older bloke frying and ignoring them. Used to be a good chippy but not first time of late been naff to be honest. Wont get another chance as plenty of better takeaways locally. Sad as owners did seem nice when i went other week but poor staff truly is letting them down.

In a real rush to grab something to eat so despite my reluctance to go in here due to previously dire food i did just that. Not been here for ages since. I won't ever be going here again either no matter how hungry i am. I suspected old oil although i am not confirming this was the case, just my opinion. It smells really bad, overpowering and continuously old overheated oil health wise is a red flag even for low to moderate consumption. Chips bordering on burnt, fish batter bordering on burnt. Really dark golden brown and the same smooth sheen on it as i've had previously. The fish inside cannot cook properly because the batter is too thick therefore instead of it being brilliant white it's translucent and watery. Staff friendly enough so no issues there just rank food and after a second chance it won't be getting a third.

Este es un chips cerca de nosotros, tan conveniente y siempre comida decente. El personal es muy amable y profesional. Es normal el punto de precio está bien para el tamaño de las porciones y bien organizado, por lo que incluso en un día muy ocupado, no se espera demasiado larga! !

Estaba pasando por ayer, y nos detuvimos para llevar comida en el camino a casa (no soy local). Pedí un gran kebab, pero salí muy decepcionado al final. La razón era que el kebab (aunque supuestamente 'grande'), fue con mucho el más pequeño kebab que he tenido en mi vida (y he tenido miles, literalmente! ). Yo podía ver la chica preparar, ella era pequeña, probablemente 6 de piedra o así en peso- puede haber sido "grande" para ella, pero para mí era muy pequeña! (y no soy un gran amigo - yo soy una persona regular tamaño). Me hizo un punto al preguntarle dos veces'' es este gran? "y ella respondió sí, que por un momento pensé que me estaba pasando! . . . . De todos modos, yo no quería hacer una escena y ella no mencionaré ningún frente a otras clientes, así que me la llevé y la izquierda. Pero no creo que parar allí - no creo que sea el mejor lugar para un kebab cuando tienes hambre! La carne estaba bien, pero sólo una muy pobre experiencia general pena debido a porción ridículamente enanas.

Un chips que podría y debería ser mucho mejor. Patatas fritas están bien, sin duda no para morirse', pero aceptable. Los precios son razonables y el personal siempre ha sido agradable. Excepto por el propietario, siempre parece estar un poco de mal humor. No comprometerse con los clientes y han sido testigos de él hablar a los jóvenes empleados en el pasado. Para un pueblo pequeño como Hasland que cabe esperar el propietario para ser alegres, comunicativos, acogedora y accesible. Ciertamente, no presentan esta persona!

Large portion. good quality and very tasty. Got a good choice. Ideal for s takeaway night or quick meal. Can defo recommend.

Llegamos a una parte para llevar vacío. La siguiente línea n se levantó alrededor de 5 minutos para que alguien me aviso. Tomó orden pero ningún movimiento; personal tener un natter. Esperamos y esperamos por 4.49 10 minutos con ninguna mención de la bodega. Luego he oído "dar um las cosas en la parte de atrás, que lo suficiente." Así que theyd acabaron de patatas fritas? En un vacío llevar? Luego los siguientes mujeres dieron una buena porción de patatas frescas doradas. Llegamos a la casa de frío, húmedas y sin sabor patatas fritas. Gran lujo.

Terrible terrible service- the staff make you wait, give you old, cold chips and stand and chat with their mates. Mean portions and the mushy peas are disgusting.

Always had excellent food here, new to area but best in area, very friendly staff, great portion sizes, would recommend to anyone!

Just your normal chippy but do extra too, looks clean inside and never too busy. Not far from a cashpoint at the co op either

This place has certainly gone down hill. The owner is rude and abrupt, and the food is nothing to shout about. Several times I have been and things haven't met my expectations. Will be taking my custom elsewhere.

I used to be a regular here due to being local but now i'll drive a bit further and go to Boythorpe. Andy's somehow encase their fish in what could only be described as a batter casing so if you rip a bit open you could actually remove the entire batter case from the fish in one go. The batter is so thick that the fish inside is not cooked through and never white like it should be. It's always soggy and limp. Also the batter on the fish is flat and has a sheen on it. Batter should be thin, crispy and nobbly. Can't comment on the other food here but i won't be going back for my fish and chips again. Shame because all the staff are great and friendly.

5 Star hygiene certificate, vast and varied menu of hot dishes alongside the usual fish, pies and kebabs, huge portions, value for money and friendly staff.

This chip shop is 200 yards from my house, but I regularly do a 20 mile round trip for fish and chips that are cooked in beef dripping. If these owners did this the que would be right down the road as it is in mosbrough chips cooked in Palm oil or whatever oil is used is horrible. All the seaside chippies use dripping and it's the best for quality fish and chips so why can't they use it inland.
