Amore in Glasgow City

Food was ok not great. The sort you can cook at home easily but then I guess that is the case with most Italian food.

Got a voucher for Christmas for Amore. There were plenty of options to choose from the set menu - and the option to pay a supplement if you fancied something else. The service was friendly and quick, the restaurant got quite busy but the team were still very attentive. The pizzas were tasty and very filling! Great crusts 👌 I’d come back here again - handy location too.

Awesome food drinks and service. All family loved it. Stand outs pizza and pasta what more do you need? That’s amore!

Visited last week for a work Christmas lunch. The place was very busy, but the service was still excellent, didn't have to wait long for a waiter any time we needed something, and the food was also very good and ready at the same time despite being in a large group. The only negative point I can think of is the lack of accessible entrance, but thankfully it wasn't a big issue for anyone in our group.

I have been a few times but I was disappointed today. Cream in the carbonara which ruined it for me. It did not say cream on the menu. The service was not great, no enthusiasm from the staff and no-one cracked a smile. From someone with Italian parentage whe grew up on an Italian diet I would recommend stearing clear. There are plenty of smaller, more intimate and traditional Italian restaurants to dine in Glasgow.

Good service, nice pizza. Very expensive tiramisu (£8) which was not worth the price.

Top class food and fast service

One of the best meals out in ages. Lovely staff who went above and beyond for us, chatting with the kids, making us feel very welcome even though it was super busy on Christmas Eve and we hadn’t booked. Meal was ready quickly and was absolutely delicious! Kids really enjoyed their meal too which was soup and chicken goujons but it was so fresh and tasty I’d have ate that if it was on the adult menu too!!! Will definitely be back as the signature pasta was unbeatable.

I appreciate it's the festive season but thats no excuse for the service standards to drop. My wife and I had dinner here, we booked a table for 5pm. There was a queue out the door when we arrived. We were eventually seated by 5.20pm with no apology for the wait. From here it was like there were trying to see how fast they could go to get us out of there. Our drinks and food orders were taken promptly which was great although there are limited options for vegetarians. While waitng on our meal we were asked if we would like dessert? When the meal came it was nice enough however the Cajun chips were returned to the kitchen as they were the thinest (matchsticks) driest chips I have ever tasted. While eating we were asked if we were finished 3 times with the staff trying to remove the plates from the table! It was the same with dessert, we had literally just put the spoon down and the plate was taken away. Rush Rush Rush. We felt like they could not get us out fast enough. Terrible dining experience overall and will not rush to go back.

Fairly nondescript Italian. It was the busy Christmas period when we visited and service was rushed. There are better options nearby.

The food was fantastic. A lot of restaurants either have good food or good portions, this restaurant has both.

Just had Xmas party with team, very small portions poorly made from frozen foods, place jammed people struggling sit on their table, Glass pinot grigio was £10.00. Worst Xmas last 20years. Waste of money, avoid this place. End of the night everyone end hungry stress.

I often visit restaurants, and my experience in the restaurant was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had in my life, and not just in Glasgow, due to the way the restaurant staff treated us. Although the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, the food was not good.. I regretted spending the money. Which they do not deserve.. Thank you, Amore Ristorante e Pizzeria, for the bad experience you gave me.

I recently dined at this restaurant, and while the food was Okay, the service was honestly shocking. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like we were a burden rather than welcomed guests. They didn’t bother to explain the menu, acted visibly irritated while taking our orders, and ignored us throughout the entire meal. It was as if someone had just died—the atmosphere among the staff was heavy, cold, and completely disengaged. I noticed other reviews mentioning friendly staff, but our experience couldn’t have been further from that. To top it off, they slapped on a 10% service charge that I felt was completely undeserved, but I wasn’t in the mood to argue. This restaurant seriously needs to rethink its approach to hospitality.

I would book a table especially at weekends. Luckily we did, the place was full, and im not surprised, the foods amazing, friendly staff and great atmosphere 10 out of 10..

Food was absolutely delicious, decor a bit dated( I'm not keen on plastic grapes hanging everywhere) service was good.

12.5% service charge as standard, even for a 1 top during lunch, is not only abit cheeky but probably explains the absolutely dead behind the eyes and elusive service.

Just a lovely starter and main ..piping hot and full of lovely flavours..Good portion size too.I wish I could eat here every week but it was a girls day out and a great place to eat with friends.

Lovely food with 1st class service

We stumbled across this place during a really busy Sunday when the Great Scottish Run was on, and had limited time to eat. The food was really good and the service impeccable. Will definitely be visiting again.

Beautiful place for dinner. Pasta is amazing. Been here twice each time it was perfect. Definitely be back again.

I was at a more for a family catch up. Staff were very attentive and courteous. what l chose for my meal was a big mistake, starter was calamari which was overcooked it was like eating a rubber band. I should have complained but did not want to cause a fuss. My sister and l had the fish and chips both of us said that the fish was dry, l don't know if it was frozen but we ate it anyway.

Although restaurant very busy the staff coped very well, their service was great. Food very good too.

We came as a group of 7, we were seated promptly and the food was unreal, the best carbonara I have ever had! Also ordered garlic bread with mozzarella, arancini balls and everyone enjoyed their own dishes too. Service was brilliant and fast for such a busy Saturday, would definitely recommend 👌 next time I visit Glasgow I will come back for sure.

A friend recommended this Italian restaurant. The food is really good. There are 20 choices of staple dishes for lunch. It’s really hard to try them all in one visit. You must come here often.

I had casarecce al pollo, mozzarella sticks, ice cream and tiramisu. Honestly it's so tasty, I've been there many times before and i can't wait to go again😍 The food is excellent, great service, the staff is friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is calm and cozy and the desserts are so so good!!! Amore it's one of my top Italian restaurants and i definitely recommend it.!!

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant because everything else was closed. We ordered take away about 10 mins before they closed, and the host couldn’t have been kinder. To our surprise, the food was soooooo good, way beyond our expectations! Can’t say enough good things about this place, you should definitely try it. We will definitely be back!

my partner and I have been to Amore several times in the past year and have enjoyed it every time! the food it delicious and the service is great, personally I really enjoy the margarita pizza and it’s my go-to but the pastas are also delicious, my partner loves the calzone and says it is fab and says the mussels are as well, I would also recommend the mozzarella sticks which are perfect! overall i’d say it’s great food at very reasonable prices and would recommend a visit :)

What a fantastic place. Very authentic Italian. They even speak Italian. The food was great!! More than we could eat. If you order facatia bread make sure there are at least 4 of you otherwise you’ll not have room for the main course. It was delicious but was the size of a medium pizza.

I recently visited Amore with an Itison voucher, excited to try out the place. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. While the food and ambiance were decent, the entire experience was marred by an unexpected and frustrating issue. We used an Itison voucher, expecting the deal we paid for to cover our meal. However, at the end of the night, we were shocked when we were charged extra without any clear explanation. The staff seemed confused and unable to provide a satisfactory reason for the additional charges. It felt like a bait-and-switch situation, which is incredibly disappointing. The lack of transparency and the unexpected extra cost really left a bad taste in our mouths. I would not recommend this restaurant to others, especially if you’re planning on using a voucher.

Gluten free review I rang ahead to check they had options and was told they had gluten free pasta and pizza bases. On the night I checked with the waiter what meals were gluten free and was told all could be made gluten free. Then once ordering, I was told by a different waiter that I had to order from a different menu which was gluten free only but had no pizza options, and so the rest of the table had to wait on me rechoosing my meal. Other menu mishaps and not being served things we had ordered resulted in the two rating. The food itself was nice and the gluten free meal I had was decent. Overall it was a meh experience. Be vigilant if gluten free.

The overall experience was very disappointing. We used itison vouchers which we provided to the host and the water was aware that we have vouchers. Nobody bothered to explain to us which menu to use, so we just chose any pizza or pasta. At the end they told us that we need to pay extra, no matter that the bill was already paid with the vouchers. They eplained to us that we consumed food which was not included in the offer. We told them that we were not told this before we ordered the food and they made us pay service charge which we already paid through itison. This ruined our night. Otherwise the food and the athmosphere were nice, but very bad customer service.

Minestrone was excellent, Carbonara was very disappointing and staff were not great. One of our party was told that any dish could be made gluten free but when she ordered a pizza, she was handed a gluten free menu with no pizzas on it.

Delicious food, excellent service. What more could you ask for? We were served by possibly the best waiter in Scotland, and possibly the entire UK. His name was Johny, and seeing that we spoke in Spanish he adapted so that we could understand everything. 10 star service 💫. Delicious food and an atmosphere that transports you to the Mediterranean.

We went for dinner on August 27, 2024. To begin with, there was a very cozy atmosphere with modern music. The pasta was very good, the best I have ever tasted. The service was excellent and very fast. Specifically, a very friendly waiter named Johnny served us in our own language and couldn't stop making jokes about our country, Spain. There was also a competition for the best pizzeria in Scotland and we did not hesitate to vote for Amore Ristorante Pizzeria. If you come to Glasgow it is a must to go to this pizzeria. I hope to see Johnny again in Barcelona 😉.

Great meal out with work colleagues! It felt like a traditional Italian restaurant that hasn’t changed its style over the years and in this case it works. Full family restaurant feel! The service was great! Food was delicious! We ordered the antipasti board to share between 7 of us and we could not finish it! The veggie options are great! Same for gluten free. A Great experience

The food was soo bad. It tasted like nothing.

This is a lovely place, I only made my order to take away, but the atmosphere at the restaurant while I was waiting for my food were extremely pleasant. The bartender who placed my order was very polite and gentle. I wish I could have expended more time in Glasgow to eat in this place. One thing that surprised me was the trophies of food awards they’ve got from the past years. Glasgow best restaurant, Scotland best dessert. Recommend 100%

Not the best Italian I've been to. The food is very oily and bland.

Myself and my family absolutely adore Amore ... their passion for great food and personal, thoughtful service is evident from the moment you walk in. The last time I had pizza this good, I was in Amalfi. We also love their Risotto, Lasagne and my son's favourite, the Pollo Milanese.

Food was quite good, chicken and beef are halal, busy restaurant so bit noisy, staff didn't visit the table often enough was only down side but they were very pleasant.

Food is ok it is just pizza. Service was slow and seats outside were not being observed so we had to go inside and ask for service! Overall nothing to write home about!

This restaurant is good, it has nice Italian food, the 2 penne pasta were great, and the BBQ and spicy chicken pizza were average, the first risotto was good, and the calamari and mozzarella sticks were average, the service was spectacular and fast, and the atmosphere is amazing, in all I rate it 5/5.

We went to Amore last night for my sons 18th birthday dinner. The restaurant it's self was very nice and staff all good but the food very average unfortunately. The calimari was very thick and over cooked, mozzarella sticks not nice chicken milanese very tough. Pizzas where just ok. If you want good Italian style food I would go elsewhere in Glasgow.

Went to a graduation lunch here. The lunch menu is great and there are a lot of choices. The staff are fantastic and look after you so well. They are attentive and speedy. The food was really good quality and authentic I will be back

Came for Lunch on the lunch offer. Had the Arancini of the day which was smoked haddock, and then had the Ragu. Absolutely excellent food, huge portions and really surprised at how good it was considering the price.

We had went on 16/06/24, I’ve had visited before in February, however since then the standards have declined as my experience today was mediocre at best. This is an in depth review of the food and service. Spagetti Cabonara - 1.5/5 At first it tasted amazing, the black pepper added was delicious, however as you got to the bottom of the pasta, it become greasier and greasier to the point the pasta were DRIPPING from oil. We had tilted the plate to the side and discovered the mass amount of oil, that probably could have measured to a cup with just oil. I had then asked a server that was there and his response was: “We’ve had that comment before, but this is normal.” NORMAL? That is absurd, that amount of oil could be used to shallow fry something. Not the mention the guanciale tasted an awful lot like smoked bacon. The sauce was way too rich, to the point it had overpowered the other ingredient in the dish, such as the egg yolk. The only decent thing about this dish, is that the pasta was cooked perfectly, which should be expected from an Italian restaurant. Mafalde alla Calabrese - 3/5 This dish was alright, nothing special about it, and tasted like something that could easily be made at home. I’ve found that the meat from this place tastes weird, or the texture is off. Overall, not bad. Gnocchi dello chef - 4.5/5 Arguably the best dish of tonight. The gnocchi here tastes amazing, but again same complaint of the meat. The courgettes added a nice touch to the dish and was enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone who visits Amore. SIDES Focaccia alla romano - 2.5/5 The actual focaccia was delicious and it felt light enough to be a side. However the pesto was wayyyy too salty, and didn’t balance out the dish well. Spicy chicken wings - 4/5 It tasted nice, however was not spicy. It’s definitely more of a sweet barbecue chicken than a barbecue chicken with a kick. However, it was absolutely lovely, and I would recommend this to anyone who likes sweet barbecue chicken. DRINKS I would recommend the lemonade ice cream float to anyone, as it is the perfect balance of sweet yet tangy. I, myself am not a massive fan of fizzy drinks, however it was delicious. CUSTOMER SERVICE - 2/5 Atrocious. It has fell off so much since the last time I visited in February. Some staff were inauthentic and in a way, rude. While others were alright. They had gotten our order wrong, and no compensation was given, nor a sorry. The customer service charge is absurd, and if I could, I would not have given it, though sadly it is included in your bill. CONCLUSION Overall it was mediocre at best. I will not be visiting again. This place has lowered its standards. Even if this was a busy day, due to it being Father’s Day. This level of service should not be the standard. I’d recommend anyone to go to somewhere else like Ask Italian that is only around a 15 minute walk away, and has much better service.

Impeccable! Incredible value for money. The pasta was excellent. Al dente as it should be, the perfect stew sauce. Madame's Risotto is also incredible (unheard of quantity!). The small side salad, very fresh and with perfect seasoning. I am someone who is very demanding when it comes to Italian cuisine, always complaining about doing better at home: This was not the case today! Well done to the teams of this restaurant ❤️ We are staying 3 days in Glasgow and will definitely come back 🙌🏼

We were a group of 6 with no reservation and we had no problem getting a table for an early dinner. The staff were lovely, the meal was really affordable, high quality and delicious. Highly recommend. I had arancini and tortellini. Both really tasty.

Usually great service but this time starter was cold and waiter very brusque and kept calling me "pal" ??? Ordered Soda water for wife and myself..mine came in pint glass my wife's came in different glass but similar size. First time I received itemised bill £3.95 for my soda water and £2.95 for my wife's. Not sure why difference but the fact they charged this amount for soda water is downright ludicrous and a massive rip off. I get it they provide electricity, surroundings et al but nearly £4 for a glass of soda water is ridiculous. The Amore was a regular place for me and my family but no more due to this underhand way to boost their meal deal costs...Arriverderci Amore

Went to Amore for lunch yesterday! It did not disappoint 😋😋. We all really enjoyed it .. I love pasta but Amore really know how to make it “like mama used to make it “ 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻.

Excellent food. Service outstanding. One of our party had a birthday and they dimmed the lights, provided a cake and candle (Excellent Tiramisu) and sang happy birthday. They never rushed us out. Others could take lessons from this restaurant.

Went twice over a weekend away to Amore. It was very good each time with friendly, helpful staff and good Italian food. Our friend said the lobster ravioli was only bettered by one she had on Capri. A good busy atmosphere, even on the Sunday night.

Went for a set menu dinner and was told while ordering that we both had to order starters or a dessert, and couldn’t share a starter and a dessert as you would anywhere else. This doesn’t seem to be in any small print anywhere and the server was rude telling us. The whole night the waiters were walking away before we could get a word in - couldn’t order more drinks because the guy was already gone. Sat over 30 mins after our mains were taken away with no one asking if we wanted anything else (we did). We were also sat in a corner which seemed like they just wanted us out the way when there was plenty space. The food was nice but the service was poor, it’s the first time I’ve ever complained to staff at the time. Bad nights happen but it was a massive disappointment. The only server with the time of day was the young girl with red hair who seemed very uncomfortable apologising for more senior staff who should know better

Delicious pasta! Highly recommended, friendly staff and a good price. A bit on the busy side, but they made a spot for our group without complaint.

I have been many times. Always excellent food and service. I am going back this Friday. Always busy, but food is consistantly good and you are served quite quickly.
