Amal Restaurant in Merton

You’d think card machines are now everywhere right? You’d be wrong. Yes, I’m sure you’ve seen the ‘less fortunate’ pull out a contactless machine when you don’t have any change, but for a restaurant to not have one? That’s pretty unique. I’m not sure why they do not have one, but I can certainly take an accurate guess. No one likes taxes, especially all over your Shawarma. The food is good and I have certainly enjoyed several visits when the cravings arrive. I would not however, recommend the Shawarma later in the day. It seems to lose its taste as the day wears on (and does not look visibly enticing either). For lunch, however, it is delicious. The grilled wings are really tasty too. The restaurant is affordable and never busy (should you want to eat in). They could do with some music (to brighten the place up a bit and get customers ‘in the mood’), but generally they are okay. Just remember to bring some cash.

Food good but the attitude of the staff is atrocious (including the owner). Shocking really as it is family run but their choice.

Don't hesitate to go for it, as the food is delicious! The alcohol-free mojitos are really thirst-quenching and surprising.

The majority of kebabs I think is fair to say is enjoyed in drunken semi slumber. But Amal has created something more than that. Your just not like the other kebabs, babe. I frequented this joint with my best friend and wife of one month with her family. Sober. Stone cold. And boy would we do it again. Superb guys! Rock on!

I'm a big fan of Lebanese food. When I moved to this neighborhood, I was afraid of not finding such a quality as the one I visited in Brixton. How wrong I was! Amal is wonderful. The food is cared for, tasty, rich in textures and generous in quantity. Your hummus is the smoothest and most creamy I've tried to date, especially if you select your hummus-Shawarma: spectacular. They also serve at home. Quality Lebanese cuisine in Tooting, do not miss it!

Favourite restaurant lately, amazing food, nice staff and honest prices with deals for sharing platters. Also has nice seats outside to enjoy summer nights. Will be back soon!

Stopped by amal for first time. Was welcomed by staff and loved feel of restaurant, kebab was amazing will definitely be back. Great value for money

We go here a lot for food: to sit in and take out. The food is fresh and delicious. We always have the chicken or lamb shawarma if we take out. The restaurant area is actually quite big and nicely decorated.

It's hard to find a good tasty kebabs in London today.and I mean not the ones of old,when you halfway through your meal,and your hands are dripping with fat,coming from a minced concoction called kebab.with a greasy meat filling,tired Vetgables,and not to fresh bread,you know the ones,you used to have after closing times of your local. Here at amal,you get the combination of all the fresh marocan and Lebanese ingredients Chilies,frexh garlic home made humous ,tomatoes olives and lamb shoulder cuts,chicken breast meat,marinated to an authentic recipe. And with the choice of pitta or wrap bread,i like the wrap bread ,the flavours fuse wonderfully together.its awesome flavoursly The portions are generous,prices modest.and the rest of the cuisine is on the same par. You are in for a real treat
