As a family we decided to order food on Just Eat so we could have a nice meal watching the rugby at home. We paid for delivery but when food arrived items were missing. I immediately contacted the Ali Raj who said they had no delivery drivers and that I would have to collect the missing items from the restaurant (totally defeating the object of having our food delivered) I told the restaurant that this was not acceptable and the female member of staff offered us a full refund. After a few days still no refund received and after four phone calls I finally managed to speak to the same woman. She now told me that I had to apply to Just Eat for a full refund so I asked why she hadn’t told me this initially and after some shocking and exceptionally rude behaviour from the female who called me a liar saying that she explained this to me during my first phone call which I can categorically say she didn’t. I then contacted Just Eat and to our disappointment have been advised that refunds need to be requested within 72 hours. I have been made aware that some restaurants could be exploiting this rule. Having run a successful restaurant myself I will NEVER return to this restaurant again.

Delicious evening meal with friendly efficient staff. Worth travelling for on the first day post lockdown.

Just had the best meal ever from Ali Raj and we’ve had some excellent food from them over the years. Obviously this was a takeaway which we picked up this evening. The starters were delicious the onion Bhaji s so crispy and tasty and all the mains were delicious- plentiful so tasty with thick spicy sauces. Thank you guys for a lovely meal.

Disappointed with both the currys we had tonight from this normally excellent restaurant/take away in Llanelli. My wife had lamb, this was tough (normally melts in the mouth) Both curries had a raw uncooked flavour and we're very watery, with no depth of flavour. Ali Raj, We know your busy in these times, but please don't rush to cook the food. People would rather wait a little longer and have a good quality meal.

Food arrived cold and inedible Never again!!!! Will stick to The Sheesh Mahal for a decent take away

I highly recommend avoiding this company if you actually want your food to show up. We ordered from just eat over a hour ago and the food is “out for delivery” messaged the restaurant on FaceBook for no reply and rung them over 30 times however they have now turned the phones off. Awful service!

I have been a loyal and regular customer for years. Throughout this pandemic we have supported this restaurant understanding their difficulties but doing what we could to provide weekly assurance of our commitment. Each week throughout this unprecedented times we have ordered had delivered and collected a takeaway. While we can not ever be disappointed with the food the service has been diabolical. Week on week it has gone from poor to an absolute joke. Less staff less and appreciation of value. Now Just Eat is their focus and the total lack of respect to their regulars is the insult we will no longer wish to be a part of. We understand we need to keep things going however, you also need to be aware that business is based on security. All the best Ali Raj tonight was the end.

Used a few times, hit and miss but more miss. Tikka Masala very bland, naan bread crispy in the middle . Only positive is price .

Avoid if you want authentic indian food. Very disappointing Chicken Tika Masala. More brown in colour rather than the usual red. Lacking spices and the usual toasted appearance. Very bland in taste. Seemed to be no care or pride in its creation.

This maybe a good place for the locals but definitely not for Asian customers.The food had no taste to it, very bland no spice and simple a disgrace to the Asian cuisine. If your a Asian group looking for a nice Asian restaurant stay away from here. Maybe being Asian ourself the bar was set very high but this was just a waste of money.Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

A slight delay for our table but everything was cleaned before we sat. A long wait for our first round of drinks even though we ordered when we arrived. They had also run out of alcohol free lager. When the food arrived it was generally very good albeit the vegetable dishes were a bit bland. Enjoyed overall.

Attentive & very polite staff. Food prompt & delicious. Went at 6pm , not too many customers at that time which suits us better. Relieved to see COVID-19 guidelines in place. Definitely would go there again. Catherine

Well another excellent sunday buffet in ali raj trinity rd Llanelli.Because of Corona 19 virus screens set up disposable gloves to ne worn when handling spoons etc.Cannot fault the food .At least 6 chicken curries 1 lamb and 2 vegetable curries available as well as plenty salad.A good choice of 3 different rice pulao ,mushroom and keema rice as well as chips and spicy chips.Nan bread onion bhajee and lovely chicken tikka pieces available.Cannot fault food or excellent service provided by the staff

The food here is definitely worth visiting Ali Raj for! For 10 people, we ordered 12 main dishes - we added extra curries to our order as the food was both tasty and satisfying. Good portion sizes but our party included 4 growing young lads so we needed extra as they thoroughly enjoyed the food. We ordered a vegetable biriyani, butter chicken, chicken jalfrezi, lamb bhuna, king prawn pathia (prawns were perfectly cooked and not overdone), a selection of grills, garlic naan - all amazing and must be tried on your visit. The service was excellent and very helpful with suggestions on the food as well as places to visit!

Easy to find, less than 10 minutes walking distance from the train station, huge choice of Indian food, expertly prepared and served. Enjoyed

Came here from Cardiff for a overnight stay. My partner wanted to take me for a nice meal and chose this restaurant. We were very let down . The food was very bland, so bland I had to put all the bland mint sauce over my food to give a bit of taste. Waiter could see that we hadn’t eaten much when removing our plates but still didn’t ask if everything was ok . Had to pay on way out , the gent on the till was miserable no chat or asking if we had enjoyed our experience or food. Looks like they couldn’t be bothered . Being someone that is in the same industry, I thought the whole evening was shocking to say the least. A Smile, asking if everything is ok and did you enjoy your visit, it goes a long way !

What a treat to have a meal out following lockdown. Delicious! Booking was easy and the restrauant has made a great effort with social distancing with discrete lscreening. All helped to enjoy the ambience and to relax for first meal out. Food was presented very well and was piping hot. Definitely worth a visit. Thank you Ali Raj

Ordered food via the food hub.Really easy to use.Food hub suggested 1hr 10 mins for delivery, all ok with that.To our surprise food was delivered within 30 mins, can't fault that service.Food arrived piping hot and we thoroughly enjoyed our choices.cant wait till next time.certainly recommend.

Don't go anywhere else you will not be disappointed!!! Food to die for, so much so we had three takeaways in a row. We had a drink while we waited, first time out in months. The delivery service is excellent as well. Very Very friendly, what a little gem of a place.

I went to this establishment on a Sunday for the buffet and I was not impressed. There was a decent amount of choice, however this didn't make a blind bit of difference as every dish was tasteless and bland. Even the madras which if cooked the way it should be, should knock your socks off. The meat also had that reheated taste to it which turns on me. Indian is my favourite cuisine and I have been to a large number of restaurants and take aways in the area including the Sunday buffets and this is by far the worst. Its such a shame as the venue itself is really nice and decorative and I remember it used to be nice about 10 years ago when I regularly visited in them days. I'm unsure if management has changed. I'm unsure if the main menu on other evenings is the same but I don't think I would chance it personally after my experience at the buffet. My family agreed with me.

Been here several times and received Takeaway meals too . ALL STAFF where friendly . Food served hot and within acceptable time . The bathroom and other area very clean and cozy .

We’ve been ordering from the Ali Raj for years now but I can’t stress how much we appreciate their food & great service during lockdown. We both ordered a madras & the food was piping hot on arrival & delicious. The driver was very friendly & the service at the restaurant is excellent too. Many thanks for all your hard work during these strange times.

Always excellent food ,service and value. Best Indian food in South Wales if not all of Britain. We’ve eaten Indian food all over the country and nothing compares to Ali Raj Llanelli. Always a friendly relaxed atmosphere even at hectic times like new years.

Varied Indian & British menu & we all thoroughly enjoyed . Staff were very helpful and polite and would recommend the Ali Raj to anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine.

My 2nd time here and wasn't dissapointed. People say the staff are unfriendly but I found them to be OK and helpful. Booked a table evening before New year's eve for new year as a last minute thing and they advised to come early as busy. Thanks to the train turning up 30 minutes late due to a bit bog roll on the track (probably) we finally ordered. The wife and I went for the specialty dish that was supposed to be chicken in a naga sauce but changed to lamb. Now we love a curry spicy and naga takes you to the point where you think you can't eat it but you can. The sauce was amazing and lamb so tender. The inlaws had chicken shashlik and balti shashlik and after tasting theirs the wife and I decided that for us next time it was outstanding. Chips, chilli rice and garlic nans all very good and the bottle of plonk was very good. You when you've had a good curry when you wake up the next day and you don't need to open the bedroom window or leave the bog roll in the fridge.

Ordered food for 7 new years didnt get it till 7.40 takaway understandable as it is new years but people were being served after us and going out with there food before us ....and the food was horrible watery tasteless so disappointing

We are always made welcome whereas the food is always to a high standard... good parking. If we order a takeaway it’s always ready on time...

Excellent friendly service. Waiter was brilliant for advice on what dish to go for. Staff were attentive as always and food was absolutely delicious.

We booked for a nice evening meal with family that live in Llanelli. We were not impressed with the quality of food. The onion bhajees were dry and not fresh. Everything was not what I'd expect for the price. Very expensive for medioca food. The waiter was pleasant but clearly lacked knowledge of the dishes. My wife enquired about the sauce that came with her dish and was told it's curry sauce. Not exactly very descriptive. Don't think we will visit again.

Went for an evening meal myself, husband and my son who was visiting us, a fabulous selection of Indian dishes (spoilt for choice) attentive friendly staff and a wonderful meal and a yummy dessert, a thoroughly enjoyable evening and to be highly recommended

Went for sunday buffet again at ali raj trinity rd llanelli.Outstanding ,everything from salad through to various choices of curries I think at least 8 .Highly reccomend the spicy chips and onion bakes

We went to Llanelli for a holiday with my family and decided to celebrate my aunt's birthday dinner in Ali Raj. The food was superb, staff were very friendly especially Raj who made extra effort eeven to sing a birthday song for my aunt. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Great value for your money.

Wednesday night takeaway. Lamb Madras, garlic chilli chicken, 1 naan bread and onion bhajis. Had lots of meat but not much sauce and average portions. Lamb not the most tender. Both curries were tasteless, the onion bhajis were undercooked and tasteless (4 small ones). Naan was not the best as very doughy. Salad was fresh and the only good part. Overall the meal was disappointing and poor value for money £18.80p =2 curries, 1 naan and 1 portion onion bhaji. I do not recommend.

Went for a friends birthday. I’ve been before but was not fussed on the main meals so this time just had starters. On arrival I had a warm welcome. Choose my starters and they arrived by a friendly smiling staff. Enjoyed my food and so did my friends.

We were staying at Stradey castle and fancied a take away. This restaurant was number one on Trip Advisor and not too far to travel. We ordered a selection of vegetable dishes and chicken tikka, along with pilau rice, chutneys, raita and breads. It was reasonably priced, each of us paying just over £8 each! There was nothing wrong with the food and it all got eaten, but there was no Wow factor and to be honest, it was all a litttle bland... Fortunately saved by some lime pickle. It might differ eating in, but I would not be rushing back for what is usual fayre. To be fair, we didn't have sight of a menu before hand (could not access via website) and there might have been more exciting dishes available.

Decided to visit ALI RAJ yesturday to have their Sunday PM buffet.All we could say it was excellent.Both my wife and I really enjoyed .Wide choice of currys ,really enjoyed the dry chicken tikka pieces nan bread and the lovely onion bahjis. After 2 platefulls trying 2 types of rice 3 currys and other extras I only managed a small bowl of ice cream (which is included) afterwards.THANK YOU ALI AND STAFF

Having been several times over recent years our last visit was not so good. A Pasanda dish arrived and was a Korma. It was taken away and disguised but it was dreadful. The Chana Masala chickpeas were hard and undercooked and everything seemed to lack the punch we have been used to. Has something changed?

I visited the Ali Raj today with 5 other family members. It was the worst meal ever had there by myself and one other. Though my meal was replaced, it was still awful, one that o did not pay for. When asked if we wanted anything else, I said yes please, some flavour. The meals were extremely bland and the service poor where drinks were forgotten, they had no idea about gluten free, empty glasses and bottles not removed when fresh drinks were brought and a struggle to place the mains down only hindered by the starter tray not taken away. When complaining there appeared to little concern. Won't be going there for a long time, if at all.

Visited many times over the years but last night was the second time in a row I had a very disappointing meal. Ordered a tandoori chicken biryani, it was a platefull of dry fried rice with a few scraps of chicken thrown in. Accompanied by a small bowl of vegetable curry which was ok. My company ordered chicken tikka masala which was bland chicken pieces in a watery red juice. Pomadom and chutney tray was nice as was the coffee. Place nicely decorated and looks clean. Staff pleasant and polite but the actual food served let it down. Will not be returning.

Just returned from the Ali Raj from a family meal and I've got to say what a disappointment.On arrival my partner, who is gluten free,asked the waiter for advice on what she could have on the menu (the menu contained no gf gluten free symbols next to the dishes) to which we received no response.After explaining what gluten free was to another waiter we eventually ordered our food.The food was bland,tasteless and as we were to find out later bad.My brother in law was on his third visit to the toilet when writing this.I use the word dissapointed because I've enjoyed good meals here but this restaurant seem to have gone "down hill".

Hadn't visited before, but called in for a takeaway. Nicely laid out restaurant. Was quite busy but still good for walk-ins despite it being Mother's Day.

We regularly eat at the Ali, and it's usually very good. However, our latest visit was a disaster. We were taken out by my mum in law (she'd be mortified to know what happened to us), and the food was it's usual quality..... however, after leaving, my wife and I both felt nauseous, and I also felt in urgent need of a toilet. Wife didn't make it home and I had to stop twice for her to vomit, and I made it home with seconds to spare, spending 20 mins on the loo with my chin over the sink while wife communed with the kitchen sink. Mother in law was fine, we later found out. The only item she didn't have and that both my wife and I had, was the coconut rice. As we ate quite early on in the evening, I'm assuming we had reheated rice from the night before.

I have always enjoyed my meals at this establishment except for the last occasion. When we visited it was a Sat evening and it was unusually quiet and food wasn't up to scratch.

We had a take away here on Monday evening (18/03/19). We were all very impressed the quality of the food. We ordered Chicken Tikka Massala and Chicken Korma along with a few sides, and I can't think of a single fault with the food. This place doesn't do delivery unfortunately so you have to collect it, but it was much better than the takeaways I have had recently from other local takeaways. This place also has a nice restaurant should you require a sit down meal. Will definitely return for both takeaway and sit down.

Arguably the best curries in Llanelli. Good venue, accommodation is clean and comfortable. Great menu and choice of dishes. Efficient service, although most waiters are fairly matter-of-fact to deal with. Food arrived hot and promptly without having to wait too long. Definitely on the pricier end, so expect to part with £50 for a curry for two, if you have the full works. It is high quality and you will enjoy the food, but given the price, not a regular visit for us.

Excellent sunday buffet.choice of over 10 curries.Really enjoyed the lamb dhansak and chicken tikka dupijassa.3 choices rice 2 choices chips plain and spicy (my wife said spicy chips were lovely.Onion bhaji lovely and the nan bread was nice.After having 2 plates of food decided to finish with a small bowl of ice cream.Raspberry ripple was exceptional .My wife and I really enjoyed .Thank you ALI and staff

First time I’ve eaten here in about 8 years as I totally forgot about the place. The food was amazing. I’m not one to eat spicy food, so asked for something similar to chicken tikka masala. The waiter recommended a curry with mango and spinach. It was amaaaaaazing. I would highly recommend this place.

I have been to the Ali Raj many times. The restaurant has a great atmosphere the staff are very helpful and friendly and the menu has many choices. The meal for 4 people in particular is excellent value for money and the portion sizes are very good. The restaurant is always busy when we visit even during week nights, but this is a good indication of how popular this restaurant is and a very good indication of how good the food is. If you like Indian food you will not be disappointed, so if you are in the Llanelli area and you like Indian food then this is the place for you.

The blandest chicken tikka masala we’ve tasted! The rice was very watery! I’d also advise people to check their takeaway orders as we payed for onion bhaji’s but didn’t get them! A total waste of £25 would definitely not visit again and utmost definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone to visit!

Visited for Sunday Dinner - all you can eat buffet. Well stocked wit all the usual dishes. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Worth searching out in the back streets of Llanelli.

Attended on a Friday evening with friends. We didn’t book ahead but didn’t have a problem getting a table despite the restaurant being very busy. We were quickly shown to a table and drink orders taken. We were given plenty of time to decided what to order and didnt have to wait too long for the meal to arrive. I opted for a lamb dish which was very tender and taste, good size portion and value for money. The manager was very helpful and friendly as was the lady waitress. Didn’t feel rushed and ambiance is very nice.

We visited our favourite Indian restaurant last Saturday for my husband's birthday meal. The food and service were amazing as usual, and we had a wonderful time.

We eat here occasionaly and are always impressed by the high quality of the dishes served, the staff who are helpful and efficient, and the ease of parking.

Went for the Sunday Buffet, Have been before for the Buffet & it is becoming a favourite place to eat on a Sunday, Much better than cooking a meal at home when you just want to relax. Able to get as much as you like at the Buffet table with plenty of choice. Very relaxed surroundings, Staff are very helpful & pleasant. Highly Recommended

We had never been here before, but will definitely be visiting again. All the staff were very friendly and chatty, the service and food were great, and there was plenty of room in there so it didn't feel crowded or loud, even though there were a couple of large parties there with us!

My wife took me for a surprise indian buffet at ali raj in trinity rd llanelli .Excellent indian buffet.Very good choice of curries and 3 choices of rice and lovely onion bhajis the nam bread was very tasty.after 2 platefulls we ended up with a nice ice cream .there was a choice of 2 raspberry ripple or vanilla ,we opted for the ripple which was lovely.good good great staff and a very good sunday buffet.

Our first visit here and are pleased to recommend this excellent Indian restaurant. Very nice decor and ambience. Very good and large menu choice. Excellent service. Very clean and tidy with nice seating areas and privacy. Has it's own car park which is a plus. Don't be put off in the fact that it is situated in a not very salubrious area of llanelli

Great service for 17 of us. All meals were beautifully presented and served hot. All were delicious, full of taste and flavour. Waiters were polite and curtious.

Spent £29 on three curries and was extremely disappointed with the food. I was unable to eat more than one bite as it was tasteless and watery. Even the chutney tray was bitter, didn’t end up eating any of the food and it all went straight in the bin, will never eat here again.

I have been going to this restaurant for 20 years with my family - we always do birthday celebrations there as it is roomy and we have always had good service. When I called to book a table and told them we were vegan, he said that he could do it that day because chef had time to prepare a curry without using ghee. When we arrived at the restaurant, sure enough they had catered for us and the food was good. However we were told that we wouldnt be able to come at weekends because the chef would be too busy to prepare the special food. i suggested that maybe they cook all their vegetarian food without ghee. The waiter said that wouldnt be possible as it didnt taste as nice. I rtold him that there were 3.5 million vegans in Britain - he said they didnt come to his restaurant. There will be few less coming to his restaurant in the future.

Had a take away that come to the sum of 60 pounds and it was terrible my chicken tikka was watery and bland very disappointed will never come here again over all it was terrible as you can see how much water has come out

From the decor the music, atmosphere staff and food the experience here is outstanding. All round wonderful food wether it be from the menu or the exquisite specials board . They are happy to customise a dish to your taste also. Well priced for the quality of food that is served here and the most amazing selection of food from the Raj. Ali has built quite the establishment here .

I must give credit for this restaurant's food - it is always lovely and very hot and we enjoy it every time we go there - which is once a year or so. It is VERY expensive for what it is - you pay nearly £5 for six poppadoms and nearly £8 for just the Korma let alone add chips, rice and whatever else to it. You can guarantee a bill of over £70 by the time you leave and it's not worth the price - it's frankly, extortionate.
