Albert's Schenke in Liverpool

It was my first proper meal in England, and when I went to open a restaurant, local grandmas and grandpas were also opening a restaurant... There was even a cool grandpa who came and just had a beer and read the newspaper!! The food was really delicious, the cocktails were delicious, and the waiters were really friendly... The atmosphere was great, it was spacious, and the interior was nice!! I liked that they gave me a seat with a good view outside the window ☺️

This was my first visit to Albert's schenke but it will be my last , although I enjoyed the meal what I didn't realise they have only a 0 in food hygiene rating .

Sunday roast was great! Dog friendly pub with a great selection of beers.

Popped in for the 1st time ever for a drink in the afternoon, nice atmosphere, lovely bar. An hour or so in we decided we'd have a try of the food - one of us had the Bratwurst, and the other two of us had the grilled cheese sandwiches (all served with chips / fries & salad)... sounds basic but unbelievably tasty. Great selection of beers & drinks. Thanks for looking after us, we'll be back for sure next time we're visiting Liverpool.

Small portions, tough meat and overpriced.

My twin brother and I were exploring around this part of the city when we decided to drop by Albert's Schenke ,been here before on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. A great looking tavern, interior is superb, an eye catching serving bar dominates the main room, wonderful decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern, its just a really good tavern to unwind in. We were here on a bitterly cold February night, we ordered beers, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular tavern while sipping our beers. Beers served in this tavern are superb, light and hoppy, bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in tavern, it was just so good being in such a lovely tavern enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Albert's Schenke we had a great time. Albert's Schenke is easy to locate along Hanover Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, midday till midnight. Friday, midday till 1am. Saturday, 11am till 1am. Sunday, 11am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

As an autistic couple we found the bass levels a little stressfull and my wife had to wear noise canceling headphones. However this was the only blot on an otherwise faultless experience. We also dont eat meat. my wife went for the vegan wurst and I the mushroom pasta. neither of us could be happier. food was flavoursome but delicate. portions adaquate (and im a fat git). for pudding we had apple struddle me with custard and my wife with non dairy ice cream. and again it was out of this world. But if anything could be better than the food it was the service. Shout ot to Dorry (our waitress) who really put the effort in to actually take an interest.and make us feel valued, welcome and more. She put a real smile on our faces.

Absolutely love this bar. It's got a bit of class. It's got subdued lighting and I think it has a fire from what I can recall. It's got a cosy feeling to it, especially in the more wintry seasons. The range of beers and ciders is great. There's cask, craft, unfined, and international beers. They have Früli on draft, which is my most favourite beer ever. It is a fabulous strawberry Weiss beer. Delish. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. The bar was quite quiet when we went in on a weekday afternoon, but still felt cosy. We didn't eat, but the food looked lovely!!

Love this pub because the beer choice is second to none. Visited over a busy (football) weekend. However stayed for a bite to eat and the food just didn’t live up to expectations. Paid £16.95 for Paprikash Kebab but was disappointed with the choice. Very basic and very very little chicken within the dish. Bar and waiting staff very pleasant and definitely working their socks off, but a lack of staff collecting empty glasses and wiping dirty tables made the pub look untidy.

Had the veggie Sunday roast and it was good but no Yorkshire pudding as we were not asked if veggie or vegan. Others on the table orders starters and mains and starters came at the same time or after mains. Food was good but wouldn't recommend based on service.

Fantastic! My favourite bar in all of Liverpool!! Love their beers cosy atmosphere fireside wheat beers! You could stay here all day and night!

We visit this establishment for lunch every time we are in Liverpool. Food and drinks are really good and nice comfortable seating areas We visited 23rd December served by Ellie and assistant manager Helen (great to see you are still here) My husband and I had a sandwich for lunch with fries 2 beers and 2 red wines all really tasty Pretzels great too We were so satisfied that we wished we had not booked dinner close by for later Next time will book an early dinner here Thank you to all and Happy 2025

Could be so much better if a little better organised. If you're going to charge higher prices, everything needs to be a higher standard. Nothing a little training won't fix. Not much atmosphere to speak of.

The food and service is very good. Both the flat bread Kebab and fish and chips were lovely. The young lady with the glasses is a tremendous host. I even heard other customers congratulating other staff on the service for a large Christmas party group. Well done!

Took their pork knuckle sunday roast. It's a whole pork knuckle. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Service was quick. Portion is huge and tasted salty.

Had a wonderful lunch yesterday. Service by Dorrie was brilliant. The food was delicious, Pate and nibbles excellent and the veg root crisps a revelation. Kaiserwurst was scrummy . I mentioned a beer and Dorrie said they had it in stock for Xmas, so try the Erdlinger Dunkel beer !!!! Really can't wait to return.

Great choice of beer and if you’re lucky enough sit at the bench with the fire. It’s very relaxing. The cocktails are very good and if you’re there during happy hour. Make the most of it.

Just minutes away from Liverpool One. Great atmosphere in this lively bar/restaurant. A good selection of continental beers on offer. We didn't dine there however the food we saw being served to customers looked fabulous.

This little gem certainly delivered. Atmosphere was great. Delicious food (possibly the best pretzel and posh cheesy chips I’ve ever had) and the staff were also friendly nothing was too much trouble. Massive shout out to Peter, who gave us tips on things to do in the area, advised us on what the best dishes were on the menu. Couldn’t have asked for more. He made our visit that more special. We will definitely return for a Sunday roast ;-)

Great pub/bar/restaurant and such a good atmosphere. During the colder months it has a lovely fire on. Staff are prompt in taking your order and always service with a smile. Great place to go for a few drinks and also if you want to stop for food. Would recommend you book for food as it fills up quickly and isn’t huge. Usually has live singers on the weekends. Great selections of ales, spirits and wines.

We have just visited this place to hopefully eat dinner. We were told it would be about 15 mins whilst a table was cleared and made ready. We were still waiting half an hour later with the guy who initially served us walking past continuously almost as of he'd forgotten about us. In the end I approached another waitress who said oh we stopped serving food for a bit as the kitchen was rammed. She then asked if we wanted a table, no thanks, appalling service, no apology. I saw her then arguing with the initial guy as obviously he just wasn't bothered!

Great place. Really impressed. Food is lovely and so’s the beer. But you’ve got to stop punters from single file queuing at the bar guys, it’s killing pubs. You run a beer hall, it’s supposed to be a social place - make the queuing shit stop please.

We had a fish and chips and a curry sausage with cheese. It was delicious! Glad we didn't order starters or side dishes, since the plate was massive. The staff was friendly and helpful, would recommend to go here

I only drank whilst my friends also ate but we enjoyed a great night out at Alberts. Great service from the manager ( didnt get his name) but he helped my gluten free friend navigate the food and drinks menu and a BIG SHOUT OUT TO SOPHIE our waitress who gave us excellent and friendly service all night and even had time to throw gravy over her new shoes ;) . Highly recommend Alberts for a night out .

Amazing selection of different German beers, could spend so much more time here trying them all. Great atmosphere, and even though it was busy, it still had space on some tables. Loved the fire in the middle of the table

We have been on a roadtrip to England and decided to try some german food - as germans we had to! The overall atmosphere of the place was cozy and warm, we enjoyed that a lot! The drinks were tasty, we had the Fritz Kola and some Cocktails. The food was a little bit of a rollercoaster. We wouldn't call it german specifically. A lot of the meals offered are either Austrian oder Bavarian-focused. The Pretzel and the Broccoli-Soup was really good, we enjoyed these as starters! The potato fries which we got with the Steak were crispy outside and soft inside, just perfect. The Schweinshaxe was also very good! But, on the other hand, I was absolutely disappointed by the Currywurst. This had nothing to do with the original dish! It was more similar to a HotDog (which isn't really german...) A proper Currywurst would be more of a Bratwurst-kind-of-style-sausage with Curry Ketchup and Curry powder. Fries or a Brötchen (bread roll) on the side. That's it, no fancy stuff whatsoever. Besides this I would still say that the restaurant is quite nice to get a meal, even tho it is far from what germany has to offer. The service was good. The waiters and waitresses made sure that we are all set and happy but sadly sometimes we got kind of ignored. All in all I would still say, give it a try!

Lewis was an excellent server. He made the evening brilliant and I definitely will be coming again. The food was great, drinks were lovely, and the live music was at a good volume so you could still talk and enjoy your meal.

Always a pleasure all the staff are super friendly and go out of their way to look after you. I find it strange to read the comments about rude staff - ALL of the staff are fantastic. Big menu and drinks menu and a lovely space. Something different for the area. We went early on a week day, not sure how busy it would be at other times as it is a very large space.

Woeful service. I was stood at the bar for 15 mins trying to get served. They serve people who go up and shout loudest. Don’t pay attention to who is next. I saw 2 couples come in and leave without drinks because bar staff didn’t acknowledge. A shame because it looks great. Will stay in Albert Schloss next time as far better.

German? Ridiculous, it has nothing to do with German. The main thing is expensive.

Not too busy in the afternoon. Good place for a quiet pint, it has a good range of German beers but also a good selection of other beers behind the bar. The menu is also mainly German food, they do Cook Haus plates and sausages (wurst) I tried and recommend the currywurst.

Staff were excellent after my wife fainted from too much sausage!

Went for Sunday Roast Which was all cooked fresh Not frozen, which makes a refreshing change Staff are lovely Knowledgeable about food and alcohol Attentive and take notice of allergies and do anything to help, and in my case did. I swear I could go back every Sunday for Lunch But my son loves mine, 🤣🤣,so need to cook one at home now and again Lively music playing, I will say it was 2 loud, but they did lower it. Erdinger on Draught is lovely Deserts where lovely also Great for birthdays Groups and Families. Will be back defo

Our young man server/maitre d' was excellent, welcoming attending, obliging, ensuring we were comfortable and had all our needs met. The food was very good and plentiful.

Bavarian-inspired restaurant, service top and friendly Food has nothing to do with Bavarian or German cuisine Pretzel with mustard - no go Carving burnt on the edge and chicken Apple strudel was ok but why does the vanilla sauce have to contain some spice that isn't included It's probably the English taste that the chef wants to bring in. My recommendation is to look for the original recipes and cook according to them. Schnitzel made from veal or pork and a well-made dark beer sauce for the knuckles Plus a few bread dumplings Pretzel with butter - leave out the mustard. Then it fits

Absolutely disgusting experience ! Where do I start, so first of all the prices are ridiculous for a Sunday roast the staff are rude.. so we order 3 beef roast dinners with a side of couliflour cheese, I sent the couliflour cheese back as it was freezing in the middle looks like they never defrosted it properly (great home made cooking) then I was eating my dinner I discovered a massive black hair sitting on my cabbage, I called of the guy who was serving our table to show him, so I proceed excuse me, his replay hang on one minute and continue on to talk to the bar staff very rude!. He came back I showed him the hair and he looked at me with blank expression I said just take it I don’t want it , my friend nearly chocked on what I can only call a piece of wood in her dinner and also my other friends dinner was coverd with garlic skin as the for got to peel garlic and just leave the passer all over her dinner! Hands down this is the worst place I have ever been

Banging place for food and beer, decent cocktails too but at a price. Far better environment than its Schloss counterpart for me, I much prefer the cozy pub vibe of this place. The schenke is the only place that does pilsner urquell justice in Liverpool too, proper frosty glass and always poured well.

Koreans!! If you're in Liverpool, I'd definitely go here haha. I went to the walk-in around 15:00 on a Sunday and had Sunday roast beef and pork. The beef was as delicious as it looked and the pork was super crispy on the outside and the meat on the inside was really soft!! It was 46 pounds for two beers, so it was the best price!! And the waiter Danny was really, really kind so I even gave him a tip^^

A pleasant evening with friends in this delightful establishment. Probably one of the nicest German lagers we have ever tasted. The lagerbier hell was simply delicious 😋. Lovely relaxed atmosphere served by friendly staff.

Nice restaurant/ bar but Staff member rude and seemed uninterested, ignored me even a an acknowledgment whilst making drinks in front of me. Very expensive drinks. Doubt I'll return, better service and prices elsewhere.

Quite an unpleasant vibe from Nathan with the goatee, I haven't encountered such unpleasant service in a long time. Someone needs to pull on that goatee of his and teach him a thing or two about customer service. You might find someone likable or not, but professionalism means maintaining courteous behavior. On the other hand, the food was delicious.

Went mid afternoon for something to eat. Ordered the Kaiserwurst and Schnitzel. Both very tasty and generous portions. Good selection of beers on draft - I can recommend the Saucery IPA! Friendly service too

Absolutely delicious, service was amazing and the food is just indescribable as it was all fresh and the portions are massive. Neither of us could finish it. I had the käiserwurst and mum had the fish and chips and there was actually cheese inside the sausage it was very good and would recommend. All the staff are lovely. Have been here a couple of times now and it is delicious
