Al Masar in Newham

Sadly on this occasion the food was terrible and we had to throw most of it out. The chicken liver was bland and did not have the sharp taste of lemons which it is known for. The leg of lamb was oversalted and tasted bad. Will never reordered again.

food was mostly very good. one of the best fattoush salads I ever had. Chicken soup is very similar to the one in my culture (Portugal) and I loved it. The garlic sauce is unreal, as expected. the lamb wrap was a bit disappointing due to the quality of the meat and also because it was cold. I'll probably order again at some point and maybe try something different

Had a brilliant meal here. Set menu for 2 came with some great meze dishes: the hummus, tabouleh and sausage were some of the highlights. Followed by the mixed grills - meats were perfectly cooked and juicy, with great condiments and picked vegetables. To top it off, the baklava was the best I've ever tasted - so buttery and moreish. The perfect finish to a great meal, at good value too. I will be back here in a heartbeat.

Worst service ever!! Really grumpy couple running the show!! From the moment we walked in, to paying, the lady was incredibly rude and totally grumpy!!

The wraps were soggy and tasteless, rice was great the chips were put in airtight container and were cold and wet had to reheat them and add salt this is the first time standards dropped

Great relaxed atmosphere. We had calamari and prawn starter. For mains we had shawarma lamb and chicken and some Lebanese rice. All of the food was fantastic and very tasty. Pricing was reasonable for London. Highly recommend this restaurant.

No sauces were sent with the order which is not right

Came here when working at the ExCeL. Ordered the set menu for 2 which was absolutely delicious, with perfect portion sizes and lots of variety. The only negative was that because a different member of staff cleared our mains they obviously then forgot us, as took another 40mins for waitress to come back to us, and then was because she thought we were waiving for bill rather than to ask for dessert (which was very sweet but delicious)

The Sea food mix grill of salmon and prawns with rice was absolutely delicious and I would recommend that to anyone! The price is worth it for one person!

If possible, try and avoid this place. The food is grossly overpriced for what it’s worth and the service isn’t really great either. If you’re gonna pay 18-22£ for a main then you’d expect the food to taste good but it really honestly doesn’t. I don’t like hating on restaurants, as you can see in my other reviews, because a lot of hard work goes into maintaining these places but the food here just was not good at all. The ambience is nice but if I wanted a nice ambience I’d have gone to a museum.

Beautiful lunch here with a great lunch special of 4 mixed dips and a beautifully cooked chicken and lamb shish. Food was great service was good would come here again.

Nice food & quick service. Last time I was there they add gratitude automatically. In the one before they haven`t. So it`s a hit and miss I guess.

The shawarma I ordered turned out to be a very solid dish, full of flavor and the aroma of bold spices. The experience is enhanced by the sides, like pickled turnip and peppers, as well as a fantastic yogurt-garlic sauce. The service seemed a bit in their own world, but there was no sense of a negative attitude.

Great location. Went in spontaneously and was expecting an enjoyable meal. Unfortunately, this was not the case as I developed some tummy troubles after the meal. Music is much too loud. So very disappointed 😞

NEVER RECEIVED MY ORDER. TRIED CALLING THE DELIVERY GUY AND THE RESTAURANT. NO ONE IS PICKING UP. AND THE FOOD WAS ALREADY PAID FOR. THERE IS NO ONE TO COMPLAINT EITHER.

Having never dined at a Lebanese restaurant before, I was excited to try this place, and it definitely did not disappoint. I started with the sausage appetiser, which was amazing—a symphony of rich tomato flavor unlike anything I’ve tasted before. The main course was also delicious, with the unique seasoning truly standing out. The staff were welcoming, polite, and provided excellent service, making the overall experience even better. Would definitely eat here again even though it’s a little pricey.

I am back at this wonderful place, I was greeted by Marwa excellent service and chef Youssef did his magic with the unbeatable menu, Kastaleta Lamb, sides of kibbeh shimeyah and falafel and to finish, a delicious mixed wrap. Will continue to visit this great place 5/5!

The food was very tasty and the quality of the dishes was superb! We got the chicken and lamb mixed plate and some other sides which were splendid. The milk pudding dessert was a delicious surprise too, thank you to those in the restaurant providing us with a lovely dinner!

Loved it! The mixed kebab was delicious 😋 and the service was pretty quick. It gets very busy so we had to book a table ahead of time as we were a big group. If definetly eat here again

We went to dine in but had to pop out as they don't serve shawarma wraps after 4 which is quite weird.. it's only available for takeaway..

Take care: The menu at the door is outdated (by accident of course 😜) Prices inside are higher plus an obligatory 12% service fee. That summed up to 25% more for me. Food tasted well.

Disappointed as ate in the restaurant but was served the food wrapped as though for a takeaway and overcharged for it as well.

We cannot say enough about this lovely place. Ahmed was very attentive really looked after us..incredibly delicious food in generous portions gives excellent value. The mixed juices were so refreshing on a hot evening. We left feeling very happy. I would to recommend to our friends and anyone.

Drink was missing and the called the restaurant who blamed it on the driver and advised I complain to Just Eat!!! Shocking.

Ordered food from there today. Just excellent! I got the mix shawrma meal and Foul Moudamas. They also added a free desert which was so delicious! 10/10 from me

I really wanted to love this place, the atmosphere and the staff are lovely, but the food just wasn't great. I had the lamb shank which was cooked nicely but was so bland all you could taste was the super thick gravy it was smothered in. The pilaf it was served with had meat mixed with it which just wasn't to my liking. My husband ordered the mix fish grill which he didn't like much, apart from every mouthful having lots of bones, it was again under seasoned and slightly overcooked. It was also overpriced given the quality of the meal. The chicken wing starters were nice, the prawns were one of the better things we had.

Hands down this is the bestest Lebanese food that I have ever tasted. The flavours are unreal, and the meat melts in your mouth. I am only too sad that this restaurant is not in my area, :(. if it helps, I had the mix shawarma wrap, the start prawns, and chicken wings, which were all tasty. Not one scrap was left. The desert they added in too, was unreal. Thank you ❤️

Stupid staff no response the chef 👨‍🍳 very rudely when i to him & that girl is also not responding to customer… they take lot of money for the food making money & fooling customers. I’ll never come this restaurant again very expensive & no respect 😡😡😡

Very delicious meat chops. Otherwise average food and very overpriced- due to location I understand but having to pay that much for Lebanese dishes that you can pay half the price in other places in London including central London. The juices were terrible and don’t seem fresh as promised Bathroom is clean but could be a lot better given the place, location and price. Service was good and staff friendly I can’t complain about that.

The falafel wrap and hummus Beiruty is my favourite. They read my notes and added chilli and garlic to the wrap and it was great!

Food was the saving feature of the visit... and would if in the area return for that. However the service was shocking... could be said to be very disinterested... down to the point of not really listening when placing the order, got it right though when repeated... but 30mins on when the table next to us-arrived 10mins after us- got their meals we enquired and despite saying feel free to bring it all in one go .. noting on the table had not registered... when chased the answer was nothing on the system but the same waitress... no recall of the order or having taken it.. disappointing... we were deep in catch up chats! Keep your focus if the meal seems a long time...

I’ve been to this place loads of times, when my wife was an air hostess flying out of London City. Food has always been good but the service ABSOLUTE crap. Take ages to come to you to take your order, always feel you’ve been forgotten say down. Then asking for the bill another matter.

I would not recommend, they served us refried chips and we ordered a lamb shawarma which was surprisingly cold. This tops my list of worst experiences of restaurants in london to date

Ordered the mixed shalwarma and mixed grill. Shalwarma was not nice at all. The mixed grill was better, but not by much. Disappointed.

Horrible restaurant. If it was possible for me to give it 0 stars I would, even 1 is too generous! Food is disgustingly over priced, especially considering what you get. Food was not good and staff were unhelpful, I urge everybody to read the reviews before ever stepping foot into this place - I know I wish I could turn back time and do that. There is much better lebanese cuisine around, don’t bother with this place.

One of the bad restaurants I’ve ever been stingy miserable stuff on the top of that they charge you for the service 🤢 I ordered orange juice was like you drinking lukewarm water their shawarma was dry and tasteless

Delicious, but food arrived almost an hour late and somewhat cold.

A few minutes walk from the Excel Centre, great ambience, excellent cuisine, great value for money and by the way their fresh fruit cocktails are to die for. Very pleased!

Al Masar in Royal Victoria is one of our favourite Lebanese restaurants in London. We used to live in the area and so it was our neighbourhood shawarma joint for a while. The food is absolutely delicious and they have a nice selection of the usual Lebanese fare. It's by the river with a nice ambience. The service is great and the restaurant offers BYOB with no corkage.

Ordered through Uber eats has the mix shawarma wrap and omg it was disgusting had loads of raw garlic soooo much grease hardly any salad in there would not recommend this place at all nowhere near what Lebanese food should taste like was a waste of money

I ate here a year ago and the staff were terrible but decided to give this place another chance. I should have gone with my gut. Terrible service. The staff speak poor English. Just hang about not paying attention to customers. However food was decent.

I recently visited this restaurant and was extremely disappointed with both the service and the quality of the food. Despite the convenient location for those staying near Excel, it seems to overlook the needs of local residents, which feels quite insulting. First off, the pricing is exorbitant. I was charged £3.23 for a can of Coke, which is outrageously high. Moreover, the mixed grill, priced at £20.95, was a major letdown. The portion size was much smaller than what one would expect for that price, leaving me feeling quite short-changed. Overall, while the location might be a bonus for tourists, I would not recommend this place to locals or anyone looking for value for their money. The high prices and inadequate portions make it a poor choice for dining out.
