Al Forno Restaurant Ingleby Barwick in Stockton-on-Tees

We were here on Christmas Day for dinner. Really disappointed. For £100 per head we expected something a little special, no drinks included. My husbands meal was cold! Small bowl of vegetables between 5 of us!! Starter and pudding nothing to write home about. Won’t book again!

Hadn't even got comfortable in our chairs when we were told we had to eat and be out within 1.5hrs.Not a great start to the meal. The arrabiate pasta contained the smallest amount of pasta I've ever had and at £15 it's wasnt cheap. I paid extra for chicken which tbf was a decent amount compared to the main dish !! The pasta should contain Chilli but the chef just decided to throw a handful of pickled Jalapeño peppers into the dish which tbh spoilt the flavour of the dish. They need to start including a little bit of salad/coleslaw with the other main meals instead of just chips. Poor really considering the price . Won't be going back in a hurry when there's a couple of other decent places to eat in Ingleby .

Generally always good, couldn't order coffees etc at end of meal cos all coffee machines turned off apparently, wasnt that late either, otherwise all OK

Food wasn’t so good this time around. Starter of potato skins were fine. But the main was a spicy chicken pizza which wasn’t even remotely spicy. All the vegetable toppings were still raw. Raw onion and peppers and what not. It was kinda soggy on the base too. I’ve had pizzas from here before which were nice but this time it wasn’t good. Chocolate cake for dessert. The portion size was stingy. And the cake was stale. One tiny scoop of ice cream. I ate a bit of the pizza and took it home and later threw it in the bin. The service was fine until the end. The waitress stood at the entrance for 15-20 mins chatting to her friends and stopped coming over. We had to get up and go to the till to pay and leave. Another table also got annoyed and had to get up and to pay and leave too. Maybe it was an off day?

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Food is amazing, always friendly staff, great service and all around great vibes. Everytime friends and family visit we are sure to bring there here as they never disappoint.

Gorgeous! We popped in for a family meal after a day out and it was brilliant. The food was delicious, the young lady who served us was lovely and attentive. Will definitely return.

Really improved in the last 6 months.

Went for a change as no places to go in Middlesbrough anymore, wished I hadn’t bothered. Ordered a chicken dish and changed it from tomato sauce to white wine but it was full of garlic that I just put the chicken on another plate. The portion sizes were terrible, everyone still hungry and the amount paid I should have gone to ollivios or Novello in town.

Hadn't been for while but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.Lovely restaurant and great service. Went for the Cocktail Di Gamberetti starter, followed by Pollo Di Nduja , which was absolutely delicious. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Went tonight,27th july and was spot on. We were seated upstairs and the two young servers were fantastic,food was fantastic as well.

My go to place with my daughter, as its local - great atmosphere and menu. Had brunch and it was lovely. Sat outside, as the weather was great. Food was served quick, Service as always brilliant.

We have visited a few times now, last night we had a party of 18 for my wife's 40th Birthday and everything was on point. Best Italian in Teesside by far great service great food and very reasonable.

Positive: The food was lovely and the seats were comfy Negative: The table we were seated at was too small for us and right next to the kitchen, leading us to be being constantly walked by, hearing only plates clatter and the door repeatedly swinging open. When my lasagna arrived, it was covered in a pool of grease and bubbling. Due to how small our table was for us, me slightly turning lead to me burning my hand on the molten hot food. A lady constantly came up to us asking about what we wanted when we were clearly eating. And this sounds a bit r@cist but the lady clearly didn't speak good English and had a very heavy accent. They refused to play anything but remixed covers of songs which were all terrible. It was as if they were scared to get a copyright strike?

From the minute we walked in and confirmed our booked table we were already told we had 1 hour 30 mins and then they needed the table back - we felt watched as if a stopwatch was present and I feel like the food matched the time restraint very rushed - we witnessed senior members of staff berating the servers as if the tables needed instantly clearing when our cutlery just touched our plates as we finished and not to forget people were still eating on our table. At the end of our meal we had 4 servers approaching us with the same question as if the bill needed to be paid there and then and then with the 30 mins remaining on the countdown to giving our table back they say any room for dessert when the last 4 servers asked us about paying the bill! Won't be returning, didn't enjoy ourselves as time became the main theme of our table so that we didn't overstay our welcome!

still waiting for chips we ordered but got charged for,prawns were freezer burnt,parmo dry,pesto and peppercorn sauce was over loaded with peppercorn so much both left their main meal,trying to get a server to get a drink and point out problems with the food was impossible, over priced due to being mothers day,

Food is lovely here, never disappoints. Service is generally really good, but today was a little slow. Decoration is really good and atmosphere is generally good on an evening, but lacks a little during the day, mid-week, which is to be expected.

Had a lovely meal last night, and the staff were really nice. Downside small children present and over tired and crying. Maybe put a time restriction that no children after 8pm.

Good service and atmosphere, but very small portions for the price. Also wine was listed as "sparkling" but was a still wine when served.

Can’t fault this place, absolutely banging place for food and the staff are the best, so friendly.

Chicken burger dry as a bone and hard. The bread bun felt stale, it snapped when I tried to break it. Service poor, had to keep asking for things, cutlery, condiments and drinks. Some of the drinks we ordered had to be ordered more than once. Won't go back.

Always have a top meal here. AJ and the team do a great job. You can tell a lot of care goes into everything. Well done

Went for a meal last night and got 2 parmos. They came within 5 minutes and the chicken was pink throughout. I usually don't ever complain in restaurants but chicken should always be cooked through. I sent it back and got another, which was also mostly pink again. My wife ate the outsides of hers but unfortunately the middle was also undercooked. I eventually got a refund for one of them, but was disappointed to still go home hungry. The chef said it was a vein, which I found a bit condescending considering all 3 parmos were mostly pink and undercooked and clear as day to see. Such a shame as I've been for many fantastic meals in the past here and never had such a bad experience with the food! Maybe it's because I hadn't booked and came early in the evening, but I'd still never expect to be served raw chicken. The staff were nice enough but seemed more bothered about their reputation rather than the quality of the food and health of the customers.

A busy sat night. Food very good, and atmosphere. Only let down was service not as it should have been. Friendly staff, but had to ask several times for cutlery and drinks. Spoke to manager and she was very good and resolved the issue. Would not put us off returning.

Whilst the service was quite good the food was disappointing. The garlic bread tasted of chemicals and my Spaghetti Salmone was absolutely tasteless. We'll not be going back I'm afraid.

It is a fantastic Italian restaurant that serves to grade food. Service was incredible, as were the staff, and the whole setting was tastefully and thoughtfully decorated. You have to go there!

Really canny place. We were sat next to kitchen so there was a lot of hustle and bustle around our table of 10. Everyone liked their food with the the exception of a parmo that arrived late which was smothered in bechamel sauce with barley any chicken, waitress apologised for this.

Decided on Al Forno as it was close to the office for a leaving lunch. I have visited a few times & the food was good, but today I have to say the main dish was really not good at all. The dish of pasta with vegetables was £12.95, I was very disappointed, and sorry to say will not be revisiting. Have rated atmosphere 3* as I was with friends.

Nice food and nice staff! Edit-Just been again today (the previous review was based on an experience a few months ago but I forgot to leave a review).The portion size for the parmos have definitely gotten small and the prices seemed to have increase by ~£1.Personally, at that value it’s no longer a viable option as it’s just a bit overpriced in my opinion.Staff were still nice though and other meals were reasonably priced!

Booked today for a table of 8, food was excellent and came quickly. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff! Have used in the past, pizzas have really improved!

Sadly what used to be a sought after restaurant when it first opened has now dwindled to becoming somewhere I don't visit. Portion sizes have reduced excessively compared to other restaurants and the food quality is also poor in comparison to local offerings. The restaurant is more of a "convenience" for visitors owing to its close proximity to surrounding houses however it's not somewhere I would recommend to visit any more.

Great Italian food served by happy professional staff

Food and service were amazing, tables were a bit close together upstairs which made it noisy and felt like you were having to raise your voice slightly over the next table's conversations.

Excellent food, atmosphere and brilliant attentive staff. Had a really great night and not too expensive.

Fab little restaurant and staff were great. Only downside is you look out the window and you're in toytown surrounded by little orange new build houses - takes from atmosphere a little but the restaurant is well themed and spot on.

Used to frequent Al fornos in middlesbrough and loved it. Unfortunately, they moved on, and Aroma took over, which has since closed. First time for us in Coulby and it was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, and the deal they have on Tuesdays for two steak meals and a bottle of wine is well worth it. Will be making a regular event.

My wife and I ate here last week with 4 of our friends. First of all I overheard conversations from the management to the staff and they talked to them like they were scum. To be fair the staff are very young and should be trained not bullied. We ordered our drinks and meals when I was asked if I had any allergies I confirmed I could not have acetic acid eg. Vinigar, mayonais etc. I ordered a fillet steak medium well and requested no dressing on my salad. When my meal came it had vinigaret on the salad and my stake was rare blood running out of it. I sent it back and they brought a new salad and re cooked my steak. By the time my meal came every one else was finished. No apologies. One of my our friends had Risotto Pescataro one if the prawns was still frozen. We also ordered a second round of drinks and they forgot one of the drinks. I did speak to the manager who did not offer any reduction in the bill or compensation. I certinally will not be eating here ever again I can not speak for my friends but they were also disappointed by the service and could not wait to leave. It is such a shame as Ingleby Barwick needs good places to eat. Ingleby Bistro is much, much better yet to try Manjaro's but will review once we have visited.

Decent restaurant for the family nice food

Parking us dubious, as people have got tickets for parking at Al Forno's when visiting. When I rang for a table, they told me they were wanting to close early! Do you not want business? The food tasted nice. I ordered a chicken dish and the portion size was very small. Don't like the menu changes either.

Had meal tonight with our family the food was beautiful and service lovely and friendly. Was all cooked to perfection. I'd definitely recommend to anyone who hasn't been here before outstanding
