Agora Restaurant in Bournemouth

We booked in advance which was good as they were very busy. The food was good, service quick and reasonably prices. As we were leaving it was very busy so for us the right time to leave.

The first time my friends and I were in Bournemouth and we spotted this little gem. The best homemade Mediterranean food I’ve had in ages!!!! I cannot recommend enough, the food is unbelievably tasty and the staff is so warm and friendly. Definitely a must-go!

This is a truly family run restaurant and is absolutely first class in its food and staff. The owner/chef add a pinch of love in every one of his dishes.

We had a lovely evening we was not disappointed the food was top notch, after eating at many Turkish restaurants around the UK this is the best we have had, was like being in Turkey with the local cuisine, the service was excellent and the staff was so friendly, took time to come amd speak to us, the atmosphere was lovely .. The chef cooked with love and that reflected on the taste of the food. The baklava and another dessert we had was delicious we will definitely be back and would definitely recommend. Thanks for making our anniversary meal so enjoyable guys.

Food was absolutely delicious, very tasty, the service was good. Definitely recommend the tabbouleh and hummus. Very good dinner overall. Reasonably priced as well. Would definitely visit again if I lived in Bournemouth. X

Chose this restaurant based on the reviews and it didn’t disappoint. Friendly service, spotlessly clean and the food was fantastic. So much choice it was difficult to decide which to go for. I had the chicken saute and it was the best meal I have had in a while. Would definitely go back!

What an amazing place to eat. Chef cooking the food in front of you and the staff ever so friendly and very attentive. Chicken skewers and rice and the baklava (wowza) best ive ever had. Certainly reccomend this to people visiting and the locals eating there. Thanks Agora team, my first time. Certainly visit again.Recommend to book as when we arrived, was no one it but tables were reserved, each table full by the time we left.

Stumbled upon this little gem while away with two teenagers and so glad I did. Excellent authentic Turkish food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. No frills, just really good food and Efes on tap.Kebabs were tasty and cooked over a charcoal fire in the restaurant.Excellent all round and would recommend.

Went here at the last minute as our booked restaurant let us down and we are glad they did. The food here is amazing - brilliant value!!! We will definitely be returning!

The moment our family of 6 walked through the door we felt uncomfortable with the way we were welcomed. Thinking that maybe we were paranoid we decided to stay. We put in our order and my husband asked the waiter a couple of questions, the response was very dismissive and offhandish. At some point the smoke alarm went off and the waiter came back to apologise for the noise to another couple sitting opposite us whilst completely ignoring us. Food was served within a reasonable time and tasted average and was overpriced, even compared to London prices. No offer of condiments or to check if everyting was ok (not difficult to do as there was only us and another table that was occupied). We went there based on reviews, wished I had paid attention to the 1 star ratings. Good luck if you go there! Hope you have a better time than we did.

Beautiful food, authentic, well priced and great location. Really brilliant overall local restaurant. What a restaurant should be, rather than those endless chains. The kleftico was slow cooked to perfection. Really enjoyable night all round.

Excellent food, great service, location and decor. Waiter was formal and attentive without being cold. Complementary warm pitta breads always welcome, as well as Turkish Delight at the end of the meal. Smell and taste of fresh meat cooked on a charcoal grill makes all the difference, plus the excellently cooked rice (which the waiter was happy enough to give us a recipe for - not sure we'll be as successful as they were!)Recommend to anyone coming to Bournemouth, a must eat!

We booked this place due to the glowing reviews on TA. Upon arrival, we felt safe and sanitised accordingly. When ordering our drinks, it was odd to see that for cocktails, we had to 'ask staff for variety'. We did this and discovered there were only two on offer: tequilla sunrise and sex on the beach. No idea if this changes regularly, but seemed odd not to just list them on the menu. Food-wise, our starters were fab; we had the sucuk, halloumi, borek and hummus. We were topped up on bread throughout our meal too. These were tasty. For mains, I had the chicken shish whilst my boyfriend had the lamb. I enjoyed my chicken shish, although my boyfriend said that the lamb wasn't as moist as he had hoped. Still, we enjoyed our food. While we felt COVID-safe, we did notice that a group of people walked around without masks and yet nothing was said. They seemed to know the staff in a personal manner. Overall, the meal was enjoyable and really good. I would suggest it is worth a visit whilst in Bournemouth, but my suggestions would be to refine the drinks menu!

Booked due to trip advisor reviews we stayed the weekend at the Marriott and fancied a Turkish meal. We biojex on Saturday night and it was full when we arrived. We had the meze starter and just one main between us the meal was excellent. Charcoal-grilled lamb is recommended. We will go again

What a fabulous find in Bournemouth.My husband, friends and I ate here last night and we were beyond happy with the food and service we received.The food was full of flavour, big portions and reasonably priced. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.This was the best meal we have had on our weekend away and I would make this trip again just to visit this restaurant.Absolute gem of a find and highly recommended.Thank you Agora we will be back!!

Very tasty food. Lovely place. Staff were efficient and friendly. Good location in centre of Bournemouth. Really enjoyed the food and would visit again.

Last minute choice, as all other restaurant were fully booked. Arrived 10 mins early and told to come back when table would be ready, so not the best of starts. When we did eventually get seated the staff were a bit more welcoming. Food is quite nice, but quantities are a bit on the mean side. You will need a starter or a desert otherwise you will be leaving hungry. Location of the restaurant is not the best part of town either. There are better alternatives.

Having eaten a meal via Deliveroo during lockdown ,we wanted to visit the restaurant and we were not disappointed good food with plenty of flavour good friendly service with Covid spacing. The Lamb sauté was excellent

Not something you expect to see together, Greek and Turkish, but it meant a varied menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, very tasty, the service was good, it has a nice ambience with the Turkish style lanterns hanging from the ceiling, this was our first visit and we will definitely return.

lovely food but only thing that let it down was the halloumi as it didn’t taste how it should as it was over fried I believe. Fairly priced and Covid safe. Would return when next in Bournemouth. Friend had a lamb dish which looked as good as it tasted. I opted for chicken.

A great find!! Brilliant Greek food and friendly service too. We had a meze starter and the meat mixed grill,was all flavoursome and really tasty. Cannot fault Agora at all,wish there was a Greek restaurant of this quality in Norwich where we live.

Visited as a family of four on holiday in Bournemouth. This was our 8th year visiting Bournemouth but we had never been to this restaurant before. We will definitely be coming again! Absolutely amazing food and such a lovely, friendly restaurant, full when we visited at 7pm (we’d pre booked which I’d say is amust) and people queuing outside as we left. Definitely recommend!!

The interior is really cute and the food is even better, be sure to book. We all got a different dish and different starters and it was all fresh and tasted so authentic, fast and friendly service, everything and more, we'll be back. Would recommend to anyone as their menu is so versatile! <3

What a cracker of a place! Booked a table to celebrate mine and my mums bday. The service was good - great banter with the waiter and the food amazing. We were so impressed and will definately come back.

My family and I were in Bournemouth for 4 nights as it was my daughter's birthday. We had dined at a variety of different restaurants every day. On my youngest daughter birthday during our last night we ate dinner at agora and the food was outstanding. Best dinning experience in Bournemouth

We should be in Greece at the moment but obviously can not travel. So we decided to order a Greek meal, It tasted fantastic and the only difference was that when it arrived it was hot! Thanks very much we hope to visit as soon as lockdown has finished.

Just had an amazing meal here. We were originally booked to eat somewhere else, but they cancelled us as they had a problem and were unable to open. Looked on trip advisor for somewhere to eat, Agora came up and had amazing reviews, this made us try it, and I'm very glad we did, the reviews are right...food was amazing, staff friendly without being intrusive and very reasonable prices, would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.!! Prawn starter was tasty and my klefito was delicious, other half had the lamb cutlets and were melt in the mouth. Turkish coffee very nice and complimentary too!!

It was our third visit and the food was very good.Always welcoming and a lovely atmosphere.Service was very good to.Very good vegetarian menu which my partner enjoyed.When we go to Bournemouth this is one of the places we go to eat as we both really enjoy the food and wine.

This has become a must visit every time we come to Bournemouth. The food is great and the staff are friendly and It’s very good value. I cannot praise it highly enough. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Had an amazing meal! Not one to eat out much but it was my birthday and we tried a local restaurant. The food was amazing and wasn’t too big of a portion! The staff were lovely and offered us complementary Turkish coffees (which we had never had before ) I only drink decaf and he catered for that. Reasonable price and amazing ambiance. Would recommend:)

My partner and I came here for her birthday and we had a great experience! We arrived to great service, ordered a starter between us to come at the same time as our mains, which it did. The food was truly divine, I had the Moussaka and my partner had the Lamb Kavurma and wanted to lick our plates clean (would of done if we were in our own company). Had a dessert each afterwards. We got on very well with the owner, who offered us a Turkish coffee, as we had never tried it before, which was quite nice considering I don’t actually drink coffee. We had a Turkish beer which was really nice as well. Very reasonably priced and food is top top quality, would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Whenever we are working in the Bournemouth area we always make sure we visit at least once per trip. The food is exemplary, really authentic. The staff are excellent, always friendly, and always recommend a good bottle of wine.

Had dinner here on a cold October night when place was far from busy, only a couple of other tables but Turkish and Greek menu had enticed us in. Service was very attentive and pleasant and got the impression that it would still have been even if the place was busier.

We went on the off chance of getting a table, I am so glad there was room for us. Friendly service, quick and polite.

Whilst this may not be the most romantic of settings, the food is amazing. One of the best mediterranean restaurants we eaten in. Lovely to see the food being cooked. Highly recommended.

I was struggling to decide on which restaurant to choose from (so many in Bournemouth) for an evening meal with the family so after reading the reviews i just had to try out Agora for myself because it sounded too good to be true. One thing for sure those reviews I read are definitely genuine because we were not disappointed in fact the food and service exceeded our expectations. Warm welcoming polite staff made us feel comfortable. Nice ambience. Most important of all top quality delicious home cooked food. Food was served hot and freshly cooked and portions were generous. Thank you again we’ll definitely be back soon hopefully.

We waited over 1 hour for our meals. While we waited the waiter gave us 8 a small bowl of bread after 10 minutes he plonked on the table some condiments. There was no apology or acknowledgment from any staff for the delay of food. The waiter mostly ignored us most of the time. He seemed very arrogant and too uppity. He also looked out of his depth. He has no hospitality training anyone could tell. We had to pay service charge on top of the food bill. The service we received was appalling. I would not recommend this place to anyone ever. We saw other people come and wait for ages without anyone welcoming them and they left. The one star I'll give only for food. If there was a minus I will give them minus -100!

My son and i visited last night, I'm vegetarian he's vegan. We chose the restaurant as we were visiting Bournemouth so consulted trip advisor.

My partner and I visited Agora after reading the good reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed!

Agora is tastefully decorated inside and has a lovely ambiance. The staff are very attentive and were great when it came to guiding me through the menu as I am gluten free.

After reading such good reviews we were excited to visit Agora tonight....we hadn’t booked but they were able to seat us but we didn’t feel welcomed. We sat down and no one came over to offer menus for ages! We decided to have the set menu for 2 but no one came over to take our order or offer us drinks! It wasn’t overly busy!! After 25 minutes of being ignored we walked out! No one even battered an eyelid as we walked out!! Felt really disappointed!! It doesn’t cost money to be polite!!

We were 12 people, majority Turkish and we all enjoyed being here. We had small issues while giving our order but nothing major.. Nice atmosphere, delicious food, prices are a bit expensive but worth it. Would I come again? Definitely yes! 👍

I'm Turkish and I don't really like eating Turkish food in England. I live in north London and have eaten at most Turkish restaurants on Green Lanes.. I can definitely say this restaurant serves delicious, quality food. Yogurtlu Adana was very nice. Great service by friendly staff and owner! You can go with kids. I had my 3 and 6 year old boys! Highly recommend it!

Cosy atmosphere, nice decorated, small place so not too noisy. Food is great, staff friendly... Difficult to choose a meal because lot of choice. Need to go back and continue to try. Definitely recommended place to go.

Ho cenato per ben tre volte e molto volentieri in questo ristorante turco così curato e dalla cucina a vista con cappa di rame che ne impreziosisce l'ambiente. Il proprietario, gentilissimo e per nulla intrusivo, consiglia su richiesta le varie specialità del menu. Il servizio è efficiente e cordiale. Non c'è un solo piatto che non riassaggerei. Prezzi onesti. Davvero da consigliare!

We each had a babaganouch of, me lamb, she chicken. Both excellent. Even the local white wine was lovely.

Went to eat dinner here with some friends, and it’s safe to say that all of us had a wonderful time and meal! We loved everything from the brilliant service, to in incredible food and amazing amazing! Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!

What a beautiful place with the most exquisite decor. Agora is not a huge restaurant but the food is out of this world and the service is 10/10. Sauvignon Blanc was far too drinkable! Will definitely be returning.

This was a true delight! Food tasted fantastic and felt very fresh and nice. Service was discrete but quick and the food did not take long to prepare. My wife concluded that it was probably the best restaurant experience we had in the 14 days we have been travelling the south west coast and I agree.

5 May Agora Bournemouth. Visited on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was popular & busy. Tables are quite closely spaced and we had the misfortune of an arguing couple next to us, which wasn't ideal. Service was friendly and the food came out very quickly indeed, so for two courses we were out within 90 mins. Food was tasty. Nothing special, all quite basic We decided to go elsewhere for dessert as the dessert offering wasn't great and we wanted to move away from the arguing couple! For a basic local restaurant it's fine. Not sure I understand the rave reviews though.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. They have giant menu with loads of different options. The service was marvellous and quick. The food was fantastic. Can’t wait to go again.

We had a great meal here, atmosphere was relaxed but buzzy in a nice way. Food was fresh tasting and full of flavour, generous portions and reasonably priced. There was a little mix up with our order at first which was partly my fault as I had been exhausted from lots of travel, but they were so nice about it! Had a great evening. Will come again when in the area.

The header says it all really. There was nothing at all wrong with this place - the service was friendly and efficient, the prices reasonable but we felt that the food was satisfactory rather than exceptional. It was very quiet the night we were there, a Thursday.

My wife and I attended this restaurant as it has good reviews and we were not disappointed . My wife is a wheelchair user and we phoned ahead to ensure that there was good access .It was a stated an easy street level step less access with a lovely disabled toilet .The waiter placed us by the window seat which was ideal .We arrived just after opening and the place was empty but some lovely Turkish type music playing in the background .The waiter was helpful and took our order promptly namely a mixed grill and vegetarian aubergine dish . We were given some vegetables and olives to nibble on to wait the arrival of food which came promptly .The mixed grill comprised of a single lamb chop,diced lamb,diced chicken and lamb kofte with rice salad and some flatbread on the side . The aubergine dish was a lovely veggie meal with rice and very fresh .I had to request some humous to go with the flat bread as would have been a bit dry without and this came quickly . The food is very fresh and tasty and I would highly recommend .The service is excellent attentive but not too pushy . We shared a bottle of sparkling water which came with glasses with ice and lemon . Well worth the money and would highly recommend and caters well for disabled wheelchair users .

We booked a table of 19 of us to eat here for my friends hen do. The staff were very accomodating, and the service was really quick. All of us had a lovely meal. The food was so tasty and there was a lot of choice. The prices are also really reasonable. I would definately recommend!

Each time we have a weekend away in Bournemouth we’ve eaten here. Food and service was as we’ve come to expect. Friendly and welcoming with tasty food. Kleftiko was the only let down. Too wet and lacking in flavour. Needed more garlic, lemon and oregano, but still enjoyable.

Highly recommend, very good quality food indeed 👍🏻 Personally I had the BBQ’ed lamb chops, perfectly cooked as per my request, good quality lamb, welcoming staff.

Found this restaurant on trip advisor and it’s definitely worth going to. The waiter was really personable. The baba ganoush was very good as was the pitta bread and the Greek salad. My favourite was the lamb ribs cooked over coals. The house red was good as was the Mythos beer.

We visited for the first time over the May bank holiday. Food was clean, fresh, tasty and prepared with a lot care from the passionate chef. The dessert was not quite what I wanted, but the waiter suggested changing this to suit what it was I actually wanted: warm fudge cake with ice cream. It was wonderful, so much so I think this should be on the menu. The fudge cake was so light, yet really tasty. We enjoyed the food and service so much we returned on our last day before our long journey home. We will be back next time.

Came here for a birthday meal and was not disappointed. We had a variety of starters and a mixed grill/ fish dish. Thoroughly recommend it all. Everything is cooked fresh to order but the service is good and it didn’t take long to get food considering.

Decided to visit here on a Saturday night. We hadn’t booked but luckily they squeezed us in if we promised to eat within an hour. The food was lovely, the restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated and was great watching the chef cook. The only disappointment was that once we were served our meal no one bothered to come and check that the food was ok or if we would like anything else. A bit more customer service and this place would be 5*

Upmarket Turkish restaurant where you can watch the chef cook your meat on the charcoal. Impeccably clean, with good service and excellent food. House Turkish red wine also good. Highly recommended

I like Turkish food and this has to be one of the best. We were visiting Bournemouth for a couple and nights and just came across Agora. What a find. Some of my regular dishes which I eat were simply amazing. Mix Grill, the Beyti, Agora lamb special all were simply perfectly cooked and very very tasty. Will surely visit this place again.
