Hospitality is a difficult business, particularly for independents trying to do something different - but I regret to say what happened here on our visit was beyond poor. We arrived for a late lunch and plainly the place was busy, presumably for Morther’s Day. Nevertheless, there was only one server on and, having not seen her for nearly *half an hour* having been seated, I went to the other room to see if we could order and how long it might take. Someone I assume to be the chef asked what I was looking for, and when I said I was looking to order she responded: “Well, we are rather busy!” If they are so busy, they should either recruit extra staff or turn walk-ins away. Or, put even more simply, if they don’t want our custom, they shouldn’t seek it. Most of all, rude and sarcastic remarks are very poor form. Needless to say we walked out, with no lunch but having had our time completely wasted and then been treated to some entirely unnecessary rudeness as a parting gift. It’s a stressful job, sure, but there’s no need for such Fawlty-Towers-style attitude towards customers. While I don’t directly blame the server (who was clearly overwhelmed), serious retraining is required. Until then, there are places in the vicinity which will actually appreciate your custom.

Extremely fabulous in every possible way Three of us went for lunch and had a fantastic time and extremely fabulous lunch. Lots of fantastic choices. Everything was freshly made and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I will definitely go back here because I love their food so much indeed. I am visually impaired and have more of the issues , however, due to a lot of steps up to Maryville house I wasn’t sure about going here, but they assured me that there was a good disabled access ramp round the back which there was which I appealed of and it was fantastic. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful, and we got extra ear coffee and it was fantastic. I will definitely be back. Ryan, McCartney.

Really disappointing visit to Maryville this time for afternoon tea compared to previous years 😕 the afternoon tea was scant, the scones were tiny compared to the ones you used to get at Maryville. There was a musty smell and the place was deserted on a Saturday afternoon. We felt awkward even talking because of the silence. Really sorry to see this place go downhill as we would travel from Mid Ulster to here for afternoon tea every year 😭 Really disappointing

We have just left after three glorious nights in this fabulous place. It is quirky warm and welcoming I say quirky because it has buckets of character and homeliness , not found in many hotels and b&bs. A credit to the city and Irish hospitality. We have been offered comfort and warm friendly service throughout our stay. The breakfasts and afternoon teas are second to non for quality and choice. The location is also excellent with ample parking, a range of shops , eateries within easy walking distance and more over close to the city centre itself. We both want to say thank you so much to the proprietor and staff who have made this establishment so enjoyable and our city break so memorable

I have been here a number of times in the past, but I was disappointed with my recent visit for mother's Day afternoon tea. I expected much better quality for 56pound!! The sandwiches at my previous visits were very good, but this time seemed to be served in brioche rolls that could have been purchased in Tesco, and only 2 of them. Scones and pastries just OK. On a positive note, the staff were friendly. Unfortunately I will not be back.

Staff to obsessed over mask wearing! We were the only ones in the place when entering not one other customer was in there, asked to wear a mask told them no, (to walk to my table with no one there and then take it off! )When we nearly finished we witnessed another member of staff telling of an elderly lady in front of everyone for not having her mask on as she was nearly at her table told her she must have it on, the lady seemed confused and was almost sat on her seat when the member of staff approached her and stopped her in front of everyone before she could even sit down! This has put me of and I wont be back, the afternoon tea was not the greatest either tbf only nice thing was the scones.

Very relaxing atmosphere and pleasant afternoon tea, the sandwiches, scones and pastries were very nice and we were offered multiple tea top ups. The staff were very attentive. The only thing that ruined the experience for me was when I stepped into the next room where the till was to pay. The girl advised she had to check something in the other room. I waited patiently for several minutes when I noticed a lovely fire place and mirror in the room. I took maybe two steps towards it to admire it and the girl very quickly came back into the room and told me off advising that the room was being used for a private function and not to walk over there. I was a bit shocked seeing as the room was pretty small and open plan, I had only taken two steps, I didn’t touch anything, I had my mask on and there wasn’t another person in or near the room apart from myself. It sort of upset myself and the person I was with and I felt a bit upset about it on the car journey home. It was enough to put me off returning.

First lunch we’ve had in an inside restaurant in an age, and it was delicious. Got parked right outside which was handy. Met by a very pleasant girl and shown to our table even though we were a little early for our booking. The staff all wore face coverings. Other diners in the airy room, all socially distanced. Very good and timely service overall. Staff friendly and pleasant. We had the sourdough bread topped with Goat’s cheese, sliced pear, honey, pickled red onion and rocket - this was quite substantial, delicious and good value at £7.00 each. The whole combination worked so well, my taste buds were singing. So tangy and fresh. I also had a soup on the side - a generous bowl costing just an extra £3.00. Smokey pepper and tomato - very tasty and hot. Tea was topped up without asking. An extra teabag provided without asking for the decaffeinated pot, as it could be quite weak, our lovely waitress advised us. Teacups and saucers are mixed vintage, lots of charm as has the building itself. Due to COVID19, there is a time limit for the stay but we had plenty of time to eat, chat and enjoy. There was a £10 deposit I’d paid online to secure the booking for 2 and this was deducted from the bill, without prompting. We look forward to going back again very soon for brunch. Recommended without hesitation.

just a quick review about my recent experience, was really looking forward to an afternoon tea with the girls and we were greeted by a lovely girl at the door who showed us to our seat and everything was fine. The main issue was when it came to payment of the tea (I have been here before and was never an issue with splitting the bill). The women who looked to be the manager claimed that only one was allowed up at a time to pay due to covid regulations, they couldn't have many people standing at the till. We then suggested that was fine and we can come up one at a time then. The the women backtracked to say it was payment per a household and since there was two households present I asked can we pay separate cards then , to which she backtracked again and demanded only one card per booking. Whilst we were trying to organise transfers between each other (as we are students and don't have full amount on one single card!! ) she then barked that we were blocking people by standing inside the tearoom (even though there was only one couple in the place at their table at that stage) and told us all to get out. The level of customer service this particular women had was shocking and has actually put me off ever coming back. Was also disappointed with the tea sandwiches as these were in stale mini buns instead and I would have preferred a soft loaf of bread used.
