My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Ballygally Castle Hotel while on a tour of Ireland with Mark Doherty’s Connect the Dots. Mark’s decision to select this hotel for his tour guests was perfect. The location, looking across the straits to Scotland, was stunning. The beautiful gardens, castle, accommodations and restaurant were memorable. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful time! The food was amazing! The location is so beautiful, we fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Hopefully we come back soon. A few misses though; the pillows are so thin that it made it hard to sleep. No dish for the soap? So it just kept sliding into the sink.

This has become a go-to place for a walk along the beach to embrace the sea air at Ballygally. To finish off, we go into the hotel for coffee, which is good and a tray bake. Today, we had lunch. I had a small chowder, and my wife had a prawn open sandwich. Lovely atmosphere perfect.

We treated ourselves to the B&B and evening meal package in one of the Tower rooms for our wedding anniversary. From the reception staff to the restaurant staff, everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and cosy and clean, and the bed was so comfy. I loved the little sash windows, too. Lots of history and original features in the tower itself and a beautiful beach across the road. The free car park too was a bonus and the food was good too. We will definitely go back again.

The jewel in crown Northern Ireland. From start of stay (11 nights) we were offered extra clothes rail for our clothing at check in. Housekeeping were on top of everything from day one, this place is a top hotel with real leaders in every area. Breakfast was served under the leadership of a Scottish girl Ann who was real class serving the guests and marshalling younger staff, food was served hot and fresh every morning. Restaurant at night was of a similar standard with exciting food from chief Kevin who was also happy to talk to the guests,(in his broad Belfast accent) very knowledgeable on his menu and was good fun also. Bar was always clean, well stocked with staff very attentive even when busy. Gardens were exceptional and manicured to perfection, we were fortunate to have some lovely sunny weather during our stay and often had coffee in the gardens after breakfast. Ballygally Castle Hotel is absolutely top drawer establishment with switched on professional leaders in every department. It was great to see younger staff getting trained and slotted into the Ballygally team while maintaining a high standard of customer service. Congratulations to Managers Scott and Norma

A lovely place in a great area. I didn't stay here so I can't comment on the rooms. A bit pricey for a pint of Guinness £7 .

My wife and I love coming to Ballygallycastle Hotel for something to eat, the Sunday carvery is fantastic plenty to choose from for your starter, dinner, dessert, then coffee or tea to Finish. Really enjoyed the lunch and would recommend desserts as there is a variety to choose from. They will give you a cake box to take home,if you cannot finish ,so can enjoy the rest of your treats at home.

Location ideal as we were attending a wedding at the Hotel. Lift was out of order. One waitress (who seemed to be in charge) was inpatient and rude to all of at our dinner table the night before the wedding. Otherwise, all other staff were pleasant and helpful. Also, an interesting history is displayed well.

Stopped off today on our way up the coast for my birthday lunch. We both had soup of the day which was delicious, however, the prawn open sandwich was cold as if it had been served straight from the fridge because the plate and bread were also cold which really detracted from the taste. My wife had the soup and wrap and it was also very cold, not pleasant to eat. I must say I was more than disappointed with the meal and would have to think twice before I called again

Easy to find. Beautiful grounds to wander. Our room was comfortable and clean. Dinner at the restaurant (not included) was delicious and breakfast, typical "full Irish" (included) equally good. They've done a good job retaining the original castle structure and integrating it with new construction. There were many tour groups there while we were there, and the vibe of the whole place felt "old people" to me. I found the decor (lobby and guest rooms) a little tacky - I can see how they were trying to achieve a "castle-y" feel, but they didn't pull it off.

Had my wedding here 4th May1996 and I couldn't fault it. Thought we'd spend our 28th anniversary there, firstly the staff were absolutely lovely, I didn't like the room they gave us and they changed it with no hassle. Dinner menu was really poor, I didn't fancy anything on it so I settled for a burger £19 and had to pay extra fir onion rings. Dinner was just OK. £18 for Breakfast and it was awful. Self service, cold plates and cold food. One tea bag in my pot of tea I had to leave it all it just turned my stomach. Ballygalley castle should be the jewel in the crown for Hastings but sadly nit in my experience. Wouldn't recommend nor will I ever waste my money.

Called in just now for a hot drink and a snack. Was met in the bar area by a gray haired older lady and told rudely to sit down and there’s tables in front of us!! Absolutely horrendous welcome to a Hastings hotel!! We then waited 30 minutes being ignored! So we got up and left! Don’t bother stopping here folks as you won’t be served! Having flown in from Sussex to show my husband around my “home” this was pure embarrassment! Needless to say we’d not now ever book to stay given that welcome. Pity, as we pop to the formally owned Slieve Donard 4-5 times a year!! Not a hotel I’d recommend based on today.

Such a beautiful hotel. Love the decor in reception. Spotless and elegant. Manager efficient, polite and approachable. Servers of our afternoon tea were courteous and trying their best but we were quite disappointed in their ability. There were 3 of us and before afternoon tea we decided on a cocktail each. Instead of walking to the side of each customer to set down the cocktail our server stood in one place, stretching. The last cocktail spilled on the table cloth. On a side plate and on some cutlery. We got an apology and clean plate and cutlery. As we had Waited a while for cocktail to be served we ended up getting Afternoon tea served at the same time. Afternoon tea had so many bits and pieces that space is required on the table to set everything down. We didn’t have space. Sandwiches, scones and desserts. Had to ask twice for butter and jam. I will try again as this Ballygally Castle Hotel is picturesque and just gorgeous.

Great food, fast delivery. Would be 5 stars but its almost 2019 and they still don’t take payment by card no excuse for that. 2022 Update - Still does not accept cards. Not good enough. Food has remained largely the same quality. Staff are great, still a goto in Larne. Hey , it’s almost 2025. Still no card machine. My window cleaner can take card, guy at the car boot sale has a reader. Serve your customers.

Stopped for fish and chips with the family on the 11th of July 2024. I have previously been to Duos several times before when I worked in Larne and it was an outstanding chippy. This time was a big disappointment . Fish was soggy and dripping with oil. Chips were also oily, asked for salt and vinegar and didn’t get any. I have noticed that Duos have moved away from the ventilated cardboard packaging which kept the food crisp and dry. Won’t be back
