If you as a restaurant you’re going to do African inspired food at least make it properly, the jollof rice is not jollof rice that is just seasoned rice. I had also ordered plantains, these were rock hard, no flavour at all, I love plantains so so much and I have to say these were the worse I have tasted. Personally I will not be back, the service was good, the decor looks really nice too but if you are going to open an African fusion restaurant do it well because this is shocking.

The bunny chow was far from the South African experience. It was very dry too. The mixed platter looked nice, but it was for another order. Perhaps I ordered the wrong meal off the menu.

Never answer the phone, never have anything in stock. Needs a full revamp of manager running the place, it’s dead. So many friends used to go there and now won’t touch it!

We had book a table for the 25/6/2024 on the 20th for a works afternoon day out. As we turned up to the building the place was closed and was not told in advance of this. Did not think this was good as a business at all

Extremely disappointed after booking a table and confirming. Arrived at the restaurant today and it was closed for refurbishment. A wasted trip to Blackburn. Very poor communication. Do not recommend.

After being told it was open last week and allowed to book a table for today, after a hot journey needing a nice cold drink the restaurant was closed for refurbishment which could’ve been told before hand .

Over rated and over priced. Butterfly chicken was like a small fillet and coleslaw was fried onions and cabbage on side. When asked where is the coleslaw was told its dried one other one you have to pay separately. Everyone came out still feeling hungry. Will not be returning. The boy serving was not friendly. He did not appear like he wanted to be there. The picture shows what there coleslaw is.

Underwhelming food for the second time in a row. Our second attempt at this restaurant and it wasn’t worth the plate it was served on. Chicken was undercooked, wings were OVERdone and the coleslaw was laughable. Would not try again, would not recommend either. Save your pennies.

food is delicious. unfortunately we did not get mango chutney which is part of order. when I called for it I was told that they do not have it. it wasn't the problem if they call us and tell us that before delivery, but when I called I heard that is just small tube missing. that is true, but it is part of order, part of price for that order. I did not get anything else, I was not informed... that is I call poor customer service. I will think twice before ordering again

Nice food, friendly staff. We got the 'have it all' starter which absolutely hit the spot- okra chips which was a first for us, wings, tenders, halloumi fries and pitta with hummus. Then we tried the steak which was cooked well and came with saucy sweet potatoes fries and their in house sauce. Will definitely visit again IA.

Avoid! I booked a table this evening to open our fast at 19:45. We travelled from 35mins away. After over an hour waiting still no sign of our food, kept being told 20mins even though people that arrived after us had been served. We had a 7m old baby which made this whole scenario even worse!! Why take a booking for a specific time if you are not able to accommodate! The venue is very small which makes it even more ridiculous. Very unprofessional eatery. In the end after over an hour we ended up just walking out. I have been here many times in the past but I will never visit here again after the way we were treated tonight. Completely disrespectful. I’ll ensure no-one else I know bothers to waste their time here.

Following our trial of Afrikana Manchester last month, we visited Afrikana Blackburn this month. Our decision to visit Afrikana Blackburn was the worst one we could have made. Particularly in the Holy Month of Ramadan. We Order Fried Chicken is life, Thick Chick and What Cheese Said. The chickens Size was extremely small and was not fried at all. What Cheese Said was OK not the best like Afrikana Manchester. The service was provided by a Boy & Girl ( we did not ask the names) but they provided good service during the busy period. It was Extremely short staffed and the Chef was a lady was always shouting at the staff in front of house was well as the Kitchen area. This could be heard into the seating area of the Restaurant which made it an awful experience. Overall we do not recommend Blackburn Afrikana.

The food standards have dropped significantly within my last 2 visits. Change in management? ***Original Review*** A delightful experience to say the least. No parking issues. The sirloin steak was very good but I have had better. However I did admire the different variations of coleslaw & salads followed up with a touch of vibrant flavours that came through with the garlic, turmeric, apple cider vinegar and wild herbs. I appreciate fine details like the use of piccolo tomatoes (not the cheap cherry tomatoes every place uses), the mature cheddar cheese in the burger and the grade 1 ruby queen cabbage. Impressed! The chicken burger was crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The chips were not only cooked in high quality rapeseed oil, they were drizzled and seasoned to perfection. The dessert was different, yet nice. Overall I was impressed with the decoration as well as the authenticity of the theme. If I was to nitpick, my only criticism is that the portions are small for the asking price. For example, £4 for a small scale coleslaw (a few cabbages and herbs) is not acceptable or £30 for a sirloin steak with a small portion of chips is underwhelming. Either way I will be returning here very soon. Thank you for the experience today, let’s just hope you raise my portion on the next occasion. 😊

The food wasn't delivered at all. when I contacted the Afrikana, to say it was marked delivered, I was told to ring the courier (of which I obviously have no phone number for) then told give it another 10 minutes and call back. This time I spoke with the manager who said there's nothing she could do and it's Just Eats problem. ended up Hangry with no answers and having to sort myself out. unhelpful and still no reply from Just Eat to the 15 minutes I spent on the App with no option for this.

Terrible food, terrible service, indignant staff and laughably overpriced for the portion sizes

We came on a Sunday and it was very quiet. The service was good. The food was alright but I wouldn't say it was amazing. We got the wings which had so much flavour I couldn't even taste the chicken. It would have been better if the sauce on the wings was less. The lamb chops were standard they had no flavour. The jambalaya rice was really nice though I enjoyed it. It had just enough flavour not overpowering the dish. The bubble gum mocktail was really sweet.

Loved this place. 1st time here having seen it from a distance driving through Blackburn and been wanting to try this place for a few years. Suggested this to my hubby for our joint birthdays this month. Hubby chose Steak on me and I ended up with half chicken (after spending most of the week studying the menu and my final choice was made at the table..). The service was great as it did not take that long for the food to arrive. It looked amazing and smelt great. Steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) came with Afrikana chips, tomatoes, coleslaw and this lovely sweet sauce) he enjoyed it alot. The chicken for me was really nice, chips coleslaw (I needed some more as it was lush) and the amazing medium Afrikana sauce. I also ordered jollof rice. I think the rice was a tad under seasoned. Great atmosphere and great food. What more could you want. If you are looking for something a little different then definitely worth a visit. Would definitely come back.

Today, my wife and I finally made the decision to visit Afrikana, a place we had been discussing for some time. Upon arriving, we were immediately struck by the tranquil and lovely atmosphere. The restaurant was well-heated and tastefully decorated, creating a perfect setting for our dinner. We were warmly greeted by the owner and the staff, Oliver and a young lady, who treated us with respect and spoke in a polite manner, instantly making us feel comfortable. The service was impeccable. The food arrived promptly, and the menu offered a wide variety of options. I opted for the chicken, while my wife chose the fish and chips. I must say, the food was absolutely delicious. It exceeded our expectations in every way, with flavors that were on point and incredibly tasty. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, and I personally plan on returning in the near future. Keep up the excellent work!

Went with my family ( 5 of us ) for the first time ,sadly not the best experience as the food menu was not as described and to to top it all my wife's fish was undercooked , the manager gave a discount of £5.00 which basically meant the chips were £9.99 No apology or replacement meal offered

Finally managed to dine here for an impromptu family meal. We all had cocktails since there was so much choice. The starters Ladyfingers was a new taste who’d have thought to fry these babies. For the main’s everything was amazing the food was faultless. Little one had Kids menu and it was better than most. Parking may be an issue as nothing designated but we got lucky. Prices were higher than expected it wasn’t good value for money but service was attentive and as a one off it was good.

Tried for the first time. Wouldn't go back. Expensive (which is fine if you deliver quality), but small portions and poor effort. Island fish n chips, gave mayonnaise because they didn't have tartar sauce. Much better places to eat in Blackburn

Food is good but really really small portions! I spent £40 but literally got a handful of food. I think if they improved their portion sizes I would order more from here! I was quite shocked at the portion sizes to be honest!

Took my family here this evening for my son’s birthday meal. I was pleasantly appeased with the whole vibe of this place! The food was spot on and even though it was busy, the atmosphere was really peaceful. The staff: Maya, Oliver and Aariz, Saif and Nosheen (yes, I got their names as I wanted this to be public) went above and beyond to make it a memorable evening for my son. Impeccable service!

Very brilliant and hospitable staff

Went for the 3rd time the restaurant was very busy. We were seated within a few mins . The food took a a bit of time to arrive but that's understandable as they were a house full. The wait was worth it we ordered a platter called we meat again and ohmy God it was the best food on the platter the chicken was beautiful the steak cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and I will be returning very soon with my family

To start off the manager or part owner is visibly seen yelling at all the staff who were clearly trying their best to fix the mess that the kitchen staff had made creating a hostile environment. The food was extremely late, our wait was more than an hour and a half and the portion sizes were extremely small. 1 group had walked out and i dont blame them as i was close to doing so myself since the food was very disappointing. We paid £13 for just one thigh and chips but we received children’s potion size one thigh and a handful of chips which i thought was unacceptable. The food was cold the waiter brought food one by one if the chicken was here then the chips wasn’t the meal was not served as a whole which was very very dissatisfying. Another customers food arrived cold. The place was an absolute shambles and the manager did not have the courage to come forward and speak to those with complaints herself instead she was pushing the staff around to deal with angry customers. I will definitely not be stepping foot in there again.

horrendous. waited three hours for a meal that was advertised as three thighs, and ended up coming as one thigh that even a child wouldn't feel from. £12, three hours, for a small piece of chicken. pathetic.

First time we have tried this and certainly won’t be last. Absolutely amazing food, great service and a relaxing atmosphere. Kids loved their Hulk Smash burgers. Goat curry and mac and cheese is to die for. To end it well with their amazing chocolate cake. Maiya was very welcoming and professional. Thank you

I order from Afrikana frequently, Today they gave me a wrong item with two extra sides (which i didn’t pay for) The bag had the correct order details but instead of receiving the Afrikana House Salad, i received a couscous salad? im not sure what it was, i also didn’t receive my Kachumbari & was given a mac an cheese pot…

I visited Afrikana in last Monday with my friend. Food was amazing. The lady fingers and prawns were very crunchy and tasty. The restaurant was very clean and decorated well.The waitress Amina was also very pleasant. Definitely come again.

Ameena and the whole team were fantastic, offering recommendations and brilliant service. The food is amazing, fresh, and so unbelievably tasty! We're looking forward to a branch opening nearer to us, but might have to travel just over an hour to come back again!

Not impressed with the portion sizes bought extra rice and the container is tiny. The coleslaw with my whole chicken was given in the same box as the chicken and that was minuscular amount too. To bw fair the chicken tasted great but if youre gonna do African food then your portion sizes should show this

We had a wonderful experience in afrikana restaurant on my first visit. It was my birthday. We ordered we meat again platter, what cheese said and Mac and cheese on the recommendation of lady amina. She gave us excellent service. Birthday cake was amazing. Big thanks to Afrikana team they make my day special.

Honestly some of the nicest food I’ve had in a long time, such a nice atmosphere with really polite and friendly staff, the butterfly bun was absolutely gorgeous! Will definitely be going back! **Edit** I loved this place for the butterfly bun and the "My Main Chick" food, unfortunately they've since changed the menu and I just don't like much of the newer stuff on it.

Me and my friend went on a saturday to order the what cheese which was a fabulously recommendation (May I add!!) by a server called Maya which made us feel welcoming and relaxed and her attitude was very friendly and lovely . Overall the food was amazing and the customer service was amazing . Will definitely come back.

In last week went to Afrikana with my friend after hearing good things about the place and it didn't disappoint. Soon as we walked we were greated with a warm welcome from a young lady amina and shown to our table and given menus by a very knowledgeable waitress. Food was mouthwatering. Mac & cheese was banging. Will defo be coming back.

Food was amazing! Would recommend the half chicken with Afrikaana house sauce! Our waitress Maiya was super friendly and accommodating!

Well, last night I visited Afrikana Blackburn with my wife . It was our first time there. The restaurant was not too busy but the service by waitress Amina was superb. We ordered “ Let’s taco bout it” and “ what cheese said” Both are nice but our taco’s was bit cold. We send them back and it’s sorted later. The girl Amina apologies us sweetly . Other staff members were also cooperative . The atmoshere was so good and warm inside. We defo go back .

Went to Afrikaans a few days ago. Our serve Azra was so helpful. I had a lot of questions about my order and Azra went above and beyond to answer all my questions, n to double check with the chef too. Made me feel like I mattered. When the food came out it was LUSH! I had the jerk sauce this is the best sauce as its not mega hot n you can still taste your food. Mango salsa had a burst of freshness too, price waa reasonable too. Will be going there again soon.

it was very quiet, service was not good at all. Food was out no plates or cutlery and things asked for took ages too come. Foood was nice and they have a prayer room which is good.

Food is always top notch! Only takeaway I know in Blackburn where you get the chips home and they aren’t sweaty! My only criticism is the mac and cheese portion is small for the price.

The food is nice here however the last time i went i ended up with a dodgy stomach and so did my friend, i won’t be coming back after the toilet visits i’ve had.

I was in afrikana with my family today. Wonderful place to have the best food ever! The waitress amina was so amazing and professional. I had a *curry for me*on her recommendation. It was perfect. Strawberry mojito was okay. We will definitely come back again, amazing service and great ambiance. Highly recommend. Well done afrikana 👏🏻👍🏻

Ordered cheeky chops and received 3 Luke warm chops as though they were left to one side for while before being served, hardly any meat on them no they’re charging a extortionate 15.95. When raising this with staff I was told they’ve just come off the grill. The mains were totally dry and the butterfly chicken was less than 1mm thin. Felt ripped off completely. Will never come back in fact will tell others not to waste there hard earned money, go elsewhere believe me!!!! Btw recieved a cheeky £5 discount like that made a difference. Surprised they’re still in business…

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! My wife and I went here today with our 3 month old baby. We requested a table with space for the push chair as our baby was sleeping. The miserable server (also the manager) refused to allow us to bring the push chair to the table. He response was ‘just take the kid out’. Now every parent knows when you manage to get a baby to sleep ain't no way you want to wake them up. I politely expressesed this to the manager but she then further exclaimed she couldn't make space (in an empty restaurant) and ‘just hold it’. Clearly no regard for families with children. When I asked why she couldn’t accommodate this she explained ‘it is health and safety as we've had an accident before’ when I heard this I decided this establishment wasn't for us. We have never ever been refused our pushchair in anyyyyy other restaurant. I think the manager was just miserable. When I reflected I thought maybe we could have taken our baby out but then why shouldn't parents with babies be able to eat a meal out in peace and have the opportunity to put their child down if they want to or are asleep? Will NEVER return here and I strongly suggest anyone with a small child does either.

Food ok, not worth the prices charged.

I ordered kebab for my main meal and I received 4 x 1 inch cubes of lamb, 4 x 1 inch pieces of papers and 3 xsimilar size pieces of onion served with 1.5 scoop of mashed potatoes and little bit of sauce for £16- a complete rip off. I would have been embarrassed serving this miserly portion to someone for £16. Straws were to small for the drink bottles and kept dropping in even when we bent it at the top. When asked, I told the staff how I felt and got a dirty look back from her. I will not go back there and i do not recommend it.

Staff was very friendly, atmosphere was nice. Food was average if not below. Prices were ridiculous. Just Kebabin, a skew of meet kebab with 4-5 tikka style and size pieces were £15 plus. It was advertised in the menu like SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL was below average. Beef Tacos were average and so is the rest of the food. Over prices and over rated, Very Small portions ….Nothing SPECIAL

My friends and I came here last night around 10pm. I rang prior to arriving to see what time the restaurant stopped serving food they told us 10:30pm. Jahed our waiter took us to our table. My friend being friendly asked if they have been busy today and Jahed very abruptly said yeah and that they have already cleaned up for the night and was hoping no one else would come. We got our food and about 6/7 minutes later, Jahed came over and asked if we had finished our food, when she could see we was clearly still eating. We felt like we had to rush our food when they still wasn’t closing for another 25 minutes. The food is great and the decor is nice but the service was awful and rude so I will not be going there again, due to how rude that staff member was.

The food was amazing! A little spicy but flavour was really good. Service could have been better in the sense that we had three servers coming and asking us if everything was okay, repeatedly. Otherwise, amazing, will iA be back again!!

This place is very nicely decorated. The food was nothing special, not blow your mind kinda stuff. Although the prices would have you believe otherwise. Ordered three burgers and 2 mojitos and came out £55 lighter. For what it is very pricey in my opinion.
