African Taste in Southend-on-Sea

Took a friend there, and we enjoyed pounded yam and egusi soup, with some dangerous assorted meat jostling for space! If you eat heavy, don't be shy to tell the wonderful lady!

This restaurant is the worst customer service ever the waiting times for the food was far too long and when we complained they seem to take no notice of it and found it amusing avoid this restaurant as you will wait a very long time for food if you're hungry and it's just not a good experience

I tried this place about 2 weeks ago … I’ve ordered 4 times since! The bbq kebabs are amazing, the jollof and all the assorted meats are fresh and flavours are amazing. Remember you can’t rush perfection, it’s worth the wait.

The food is traditional African, and tastes delicious, but my only complaint is that the lady that cooks the food does not give me any chicken when i order the assorted meat dishes.She seems to add lots of cows stomach but deliberately leaves out the chicken so i had to found another African restaurant that is more generous with serving the chicken.

Could do with A Menu on display, visible from outside. Since you can not see in. Many people avoid the restaurant because they do not know the menu or pricing. What little food I have had from there has been nice. I am white English.

The worst customer service I've experienced in England in a long time, and they stole my money. Ordered for collection on 22/11 with a pick up time of 16:25. They accepted and confirmed order, and took payment. When we arrived the shop was closed, and they were not answering the phone. We had no option buy to order elsewhere as the children were hungry and we are having out kitchen remodelled so no cooker hence the order. At nearly 7pm I receive a call "Hi, your order is ready"... I was absolutely speechless. I informed the lady that the collection time was hours ago and that the shop was closed, her response "I went out". I asked for a refund and for confirmation of when it had been paid, to which she agreed, that was the end of the discussion. Today 27/11 I called as we have yet to receive the refund - she proceeded to get defensive and state that I hadn't cancelled the order online so that's why I hadn't received one - there is NO WAY TO CANCEL A PREVIOUS ORDER ONLINE. As I'm trying to explain this to her, she gets loud and talks ALL OVER ME (I recorded it so when I go to trading standards, they have proof). I demand to speak to the manager and she LIES to say he's not there but I heard her talk to him earlier in the conversation. She then hangs the phone up in me and hasn't returned my money. If I weren't ridiculously ill, I would have gone down there at that instant. So unless you want to pay someone to keep you hungry, order from here.

One of the worse services I have ever received. You wait forever for the food to cook. The chicken looks like wings for the price of £8 I expected better, as if its for a two years old child. The fish burnt-out unable to eat it. I spend £20 but got £5 worth of food. Poor quality of food. Very disappointed for a new customer. The taste was OK. Let down to West African cousins.

So good! Plenty of new textures and flavours to explore. Worth a try. We'll be back again!

Food was ok, especially the fish as for the coconut rice hmmmm I wasn't a fan.... Vibe if you are with your friends u will have fun...... chatting eating n drinking ... It's a older vibe setting

Its OK but bit old fashioned. Liked the Nigerian dish but could be improved if handled by a real Nigerian cook (not Chef). Cool place with no hurry for more.
