Excellent location, excellent food service. Locals zbd staff are very friendly

Food is very meadicore mixed feelings but could definitely be improved waited ages before being served exactly 1hr avoid the Lasagne very greasy charged £0.50 for pineapple on the gammon burger not special staff were good but I cannot see us going back there

Delicious chicken and bacon salad. Service was great. They seem to have changed some of the items which was surprising (afan chicken was different to how it has been in the past) but the food was still really delicious. Parking is a real struggle though which is a shame as the pub has plenty of seating but not enough parking which can't be helped.

Always a warm and friendly welcome, fantastic service and meals to die for, tou will not be disappointed 😋

Fantastic meal.....my chips were a little crispy but I ate the missus chips (which were perfect) too....all meats were Fantastic and plates were massive and full.....Will be back to see dai dai and the gang soon

First time been and probably the last Very slow service for a half empty pub battered fish was over cook and chips over done on all meal the only food was good was the starters and puddings

Consistently good food, quality and value for money. Nicely decorated and tidy throughout. The selections on the menu are suitable for most and the staff are welcoming, attentive and helpful with requests. Ideal for groups, couples, parties and families with children. The restaurant can fill up to maximum some nights so booking is a good idea as it's a popular venue. There is a bar area if the restaurant is full. The back garden has a sectioned off play area which can be used during nice weather while the other half is an AstroTurf and concrete beer garden with benches and a covered area. Stars not given for; unsatisfactory toilets. Every time - we find something dirty or in desperate need of renewing. Dank and dark grey. Preference towards dining customers. Drink-only customers need to use the small bar side for service.

Great atmosphere and great food. Portion sizes are huge for the price you pay! Well worth the money!

First time absolutely fantastic

Excellent service and excellent staff and great choice on the menu.

Had half a rack of bbq ribs with chips. The ribs were cooked well and the chips were delicious. The sauce was room temperature so I get the feeling it was added after the ribs had been warmed up. Just a bit odd but I would order them again.

The food in the Afan Tavern is very tasty. There is a lovely play area in the garden for kids to play. The staff are also friendly and easily approachable.

Waited an hour and 20 minutes for food we over heard the waitress telling another table they only had 2 chefs in and tables around us were being served food when they came in after us there was no apologise from staff

Honestly the nicest meal I’ve had in a very long time, the food is cooked to perfection and you get what you pay for good portion sizes and fairly priced unlike most other places out there these days who are there to rip you off. I can highly recommend Afan Tavern, it’s definitely my go to place from now on. It’s immaculately clean, the service is fantastic and the general atmosphere is amazing and very welcoming. Thanks

Lovely food and generous portions to satisfy the largest appetite. Great beer garden and area for the kids to play safely including a bouncy castle. This venue deserves to succeed for the effort they put in for the customers. Update: same great food and a short wait despite the large number of customers. Well worth a visit.

We were disappointed with the food, my wife ordered fish and chips, what was actually delivered was fish and mash potatoes. The food was sitting on paper, the presentation wasn't very appetising. It was a big looking fish but when my wife started cutting into it , very disappointed it was mostly batter. I had fagots and peas, I've had this meal at Afan Tavern in the past and it was fantastic, unfortunately this time the fagots looked and tasted like they were perchese'd from a frozen food shop. I'm sorry i didn't complain on the day.

We were there for Sunday lunch which was not very good. The swede.was so sloppy it was running through the fork, the cabbage wasn't cooked and neither were the carrots. I wouldn't Go there again for Sunday lunch

Booked in for a party of 16 people. We had pre-ordered and the food was served to all of us within a couple of minutes so no-one was left waiting whilst others were eating. Menu options are typical pub grub choices. Portion sizes are very generous and food was cooked very well. No complaints and would definitely return again.

Excellent Sunday lunch with the family, the food was good and there desserts were very tasty.

We went as a family group of 16 to the Afan tavern. Considering how busy it was, every meal came out in a good time; with the meals being warm/well presented and good portion size. Waiting staff were excellent Thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend this place 👌

Terrible Terrible service! Arrived and seated at 4:15, order wasn't taken until 4:50, at 5:45 our food still hadn't arrived. Being type 1 diabetic, what should have been a nice family meal (with a 4 year old) would have turned into a medical emergency if we hadn't of left without eating so we could quickly get food elsewhere. Just awful.

Really good place to go. Strongly recommend for gluten free as well a vegan/vegitariaen. There is a wide range of different options here in the resturaunt food wise and the service is reccomended.

Ide never been here before, I saw an advert on Facebook as show not to be missed how right they were Hot Squash definitely had the crowd going.A mate and me had more than a friendly welcome to, the locals were very warm and welcoming.

We visited ( on a Sunday ) to celebrate a 70th birthday. The staff could not do enough for us , setting up balloons and banners. The food was incredible. There was such a large menu to choose from plus the choice of a Sunday roast . The price is unbeatable. The food was amazing. We will definitely be going there again

I really liked it .Tremendous value for money .I had the small fish and chips .I couldn' t finish it .Service was friendly and fast .My only gripe was that the chips were a little hard .Considering the price on eating out generally these days the Afan Tavern is very reasonable .

Sadly to say every table had complaint about the chips. Cold and hard as if over dipping several times. Afan chicken, chicken was very hard. Never had bad meal before.

Food very average, undercooked chips , dried out lasagne, cold pie. The ladies toilets, OMG awful, if I had visited them before I'd eaten I would have left. All in all not recommended, I would have rather gone to my local fish and chip shop!
