After being recommended for the pies I was assuming the pub had some sort of restaurant but it was more just a vault style , staff very nice and welcoming although my lad went for a drink and everyone after him was served first he waited around 15 min before I got it for him ( he wanted to be independent) so this was disappointing, the food was just ok

With so many pubs dying a death, the Adelphi is not just alive, but kicking too. There's mostly a chatty, friendly, sociable crowd and something going on... The bar is welcoming, attentive and really well stocked. The food is pub-perfect. The brilliant pie menu has expanded to scampi and there's loads of vege choice. For me, a fish finger sandwich, and then some gravy to dunk my chips in... I just couldn't ask for more. Kind of like pubs used to be, but better. Perhaps an awareness that so many are fading, means this one is deservedly flying.

Fantastic local pub with scrumptious food. This pub is very well known for it pies 🥧 and did not disappoint. A variety of pies to choose from accompanied by either mash or chunky chips, with peas and gravy (the minted mushy peas are delicious). Also a good amount of different ales and ciders to choose from. We spent a good couple of hours in here and got speaking to some of the locals who gave us some excellent advice on areas to visit. The lady serving us was also very friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend this pub.

This place was a recommendation from our hosts at The Old Rectory in Rhosybol, we went on a Saturday night so was expecting it to be busy but it was rammed shoulder to shoulder, we managed to get a table fairly quickly (the bar staff moved someone who was happy to be moved for us and cleaned down the table) there was a live band for entertainment who sounded good from what we heard of them but the main bit was the food, pie, chunky chips and minted mushy peas. I had the Moo and Blue pie & the missus had a chicken ham and leek pie, both were okay but the pastry on the bottom of my pie was rock solid as if the pie had been microwaved. The chips were okay but some of the thicker chips were lacking a couple more minutes in the fryer, the mushy peas were the star of the show, slightly minty, creamy taste & I don't even like mushy peas, all topped off with red wine gravy (Gluten Free)....overall pretty good but I wouldn't say award winning based off our experience

What a gem of a pub, a very good selection on draught, especially the local casks! Very old fashioned traditional pub with a great atmosphere. We tried their pies which must be popular as most tables had been taken for food. Service was amazing from a girl cooking the food, she gave us a list of all the local must dos on the island which we did indeed try and cover most, staff on the bar were very friendly which gave a very 'homely ' feel ! Hopefully be back next year! See you soon

Loved this place so much we never went to any other pub. John is such a lovely gentle giant and mingles with everyone. The doggie is so well behaved and comes out to greet you. It was really busy on Friday evening 8th September. We had a Finneys fish & chips from next door but our friends had food from the Adelphi and had pie, mash and minty peas & sauce. Omg they were to die for so on Saturday evening we swapped we did an Adelphi pie night and they are Finneys chippy night. Good thing is they both have tables outside so you can sit at either. A couple also arrived after the Adelphi had finished food but the owner said get a chippy tea and either bring it in or sit outside up to you. That to me is such hospitality because he knew he was still getting the custom for drinks. Sunday we drive around the island, Cemaes, Valley, Holyhead, Llangefni, etc and then said Adelphi on the way home with all thumbs up. Thank you ever so much for such lovely wonderful food, ambience and social interaction with customers. Even the local people chatted away with us and made us feel so welcome. This is the first time we’ve stayed in Amlwch but we will be back it was so enjoyable. Also there is a van that comes from the port and shows the catch of the day so the blackboard outside shows what’s available. You can’t get fresher than that. We will be back.

Called in at this pub for their famous pies and mash..... we arrived at 8.25pm. We were told they had finished serving food....so even though I was disappointed I ordered 2 drinks. Mine was a vodka and coke, my friends was gin and lemonade.....the bar maid was fairly young and as I saw her pouring my drink I was talking to a chap at the bar and said how I disliked diet coke!! She served the drinks. I paid. Then I tasted my drink and it was diet COKE!!!! I'm 48 years old and know the difference between diet and full fat coke. So I said this is diet coke...she said no it's Pepsi max....I said it isn't it's diet coke! So she said that's all we have on draught....she was rude and was more interested in chatting to a boy in the other side of the bar. We shall not be returning to try their pies.

1st visit as a tourist. Locals got preferential treatment at the bar. Not a smile form either of the bar staff. I was busy. I own a hospitality venue but wouldn’t employ either of them. I was friendly & polite, which was difficult under the circumstances. Customers were lovely, made us feel welcome & were the only ones contributing to a congenial atmosphere. Enjoyed my half cider. Beer Garden was lovely & beautifully decorated with lights. Would've stayed longer if the bar staff weren't so obnoxious.

Good and bad experience. The good; Great beer prices and friendly service. The bad; Driving hundreds of miles from Bournemouth only to be told that no food was available. This included the famous pies the pub is renowned for and the reason we included it in our tour of Anglesey, despite being available the previous day according to reviews. Sadly it seems we will be unable to comment on them, a situation made all the more annoying by the fact the pub and staff are quite wonderful. Highly recommend food at this community cafe and pub, next door to each other. Didn't manage to get a drink in the pub as a big coach party arrived just before us. Wish I'd taken a photo of the most amazing homemade steak and Guinness pie with chips, peas and gravy. It was tremendous. Melt in the mouth meat locally sourced from the brilliant butcher in Llangneffni (also recommended) and lovely service with a smile. Feels like a well loved community asset and all the very best of luck to the team; family run and cared about. Support it if you can.

We first came here to eat in 2005, although I’ve found out today that this pre-dates the current owners. In recent years we have visited this restaurant on each of our one or more visits every year to Anglesey. We obviously wouldn’t do this if we didn’t enjoy it here. The food has always been well prepared, of very high quality, and the service efficient and welcoming. Today was a Sunday roast which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We don’t normally do desserts, but having tried a couple of ‘specials’ on our last visit we decided to give it a go, and we were glad we did! Thoroughly recommended.
