Aboyne Fish & Chips in Aberdeenshire

Wow ,should have taken note that the locals were not ordering fish and chips, almost anything else on the menu but not fish. When I got home and opened the fish supper I could see why. Soggy orange coloured fish batter and a load of nibs for the chips. I can honestly say this is the worst fish supper I have ever had.

Pretty grim. Chips were dry and looked like reheats although strangely the occasional ones seemed fresher so maybe yesterdays and todays mixed together? Black pudding batter was solid, bland, odd coloured and tasteless. Also had chips and cheese but freezing cheese on top of reheated yesterday's chips did not really do it for me!

Had to wait for the fish to be cooked, but well worth the wait! My breaded haddock was so fresh, you would think it had gone from Aberdeen Harbour an hour ago! Staff very pleasant. I would certainly eat here again should be in Aboyne!

Best-tasting fish supper had anywhere in years, freshly cooked. Also ordered a small portion of chips: generous serving, hot, golden and crispy. Short wait indoors for order, seating provided. Service polite and efficient. Outdoor seating also provided. Would be very happy to return if in area.

is it magic the food there is very good. big selection of drinks for cheap prices.easy to find. Chicken Burgers Chicken Nuggets Chicken tenders and so much more...

We visited Shah's Fish and Chips yesterday, the staff were lovely and everyone enjoyed the food, if you're in Aboyne or around the area would definitely recommend paying a visit during the holidays

Reheated chips that were so dry and hard we couldn't eat them, and when we walked in the shop you could smell the stale chip oil. Fish was ok but fish cakes and nuggets dry. We also had 2 donner kebabs which didn't taste like they had been on the spit in a while and suspect the meat was microwaved to reheat it Shame because the shop is nice and modern but we wouldn't go back or recommend it

Excellent freshly cooked to order fish and chips for 2 of us. Gorgeous batter, beautifully cooked Haddock and lovely chips (but too large a portion for us).

Chips were reheated so hard you could hardly eat most of them. My husband had fish which he said was ok but not fantastic. Will not be back again

Freshly cooked to order fish and chips. Batter was really good, crispy and golden. Scampi and chips was cooked well.

Excellent freshly cooked fish and chips. Shop in good central location - fresh and clean with a variety of soft drinks.

All that you would expect from a fish and chip shop. Service was quick and friendly. The haddock was very nice but the chips were disappointing.

we have had chips many times. You can get a small fish supper. Pineapple fritters fine. White puddings fine. To me the best fish and chips are The Cowshed at Raemoir but this is a good second. Recommend here.

We drove out to have a chippy tea late on friday night after hearing from friend it was good. It didn't disappoint!We had chicken to share to start with- amazingly tasty!! Black pudding supper and a jumbo sausage supper both came with lots of freshly cooked chips that were very tasty!Really enjoyed, we will be back.Thanks again.

A nice little chip shop as you pass through Aboyne. The staff are friendly and the service is prompt. You get a good sized portion of fish and chips etc. for your money. The battered sausage is very good.

Not good at all. Chips were awful, reheated, crunchy, could break it teeth. Luckily enough only one piece of fish as batter was greasy though fish tasty enough.

Portion size small to medium. All I would say is the fish and chips are ok but would go no further. Service was prompt and shop clean with convenient parking nearby.

I think my title says it all. Good fish and chips is an easy thing to say but not so easy to execute. This place doesn't deliver.

When the big places only have space for those who have made reservations.....thank goodness for the chippy. Hungry travelers do not always know where or when the next meal will be. So, the luxury of making reservations is not always an option.

My husband and sons brought back fish and chips from here after debating Aboyne v Banchory for our annual"chipper" and everyone was really impressed.

On my way home from Ballater I stopped in at the square in Aboyne feeling hungry. I settled on a Pizza and what a delight. The pizza was prepared fresh and cooked to perfection. In reality it was one of the best pizzas I have eaten in a long time and in a similar position I will certainly visit here again - thank you.

Went here after got the tent set up. People were friendly got a slush fine. Got chips n gravy was thick gravy but I like it like that.

Off the Main street, beside the railway station, you will find a hidden gem of a place with free parking.

We was passing through and found this chip shop both had chicken fillet suppers, found it clean and friendly but when we was eating found the meals smelt of a burnt smell and not nice taste so never ate much.. I ended up sick big time!! We will just pass next time, sorry for review folks but after that weekend it had to be done.

We had fish and chips at this excellent location during our stay at Douneside house - excellent value for money and fish was great, so fresh and white.
