Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ) in Aberdeen City

It’s a joke. Heathrow airport was reportedly closed. So in order to double check my flight, I called the airport twice. Both times I spent 5 minutes speaking with the Ai, to reach the outcome of being connected with a member of staff. After that it would ring and then end the call. No help, only wasted time!

Small regional airport with few decent facilities but serves a purpose. Like most it's miles from anywhere.

Super organized, clean, easy to access. The negative point is the few transport options depending on the time you arrive, you have to wait a long time for a taxi.

If I'm being honest, I don't really pay any attention to the airport, as I'm more focused on getting out of this town for a while... and I'm usually last minute late. Never had any issue though, so thank you.

Traveling from Aberdeen International Airport is much better than years gone by. Progress is good and headed in the correct direction. Still room for improvement. Pity it has been limited with expansion of the runway unfortunately. The increase for the drop off at the airport has gone up dramatically in the past years, so much so that customers are getting dropped off around the boundaries of the airport to save this extortionate charge. I have heard of the surrounding hotels complaining of the drops and pick ups at or nearby.

I’m aberdonian but this is probably the worst airport in the world. They add extra rules just for fun. They pay thousands to put in a system to charge you two pounds to smoke 🤣 I honestly can’t believe how bad this airport is.

Bit of a dump, no good shops or options especially when you're bored out your face in this airport!

Easy and quick check in and nice spacious area. Staff were kind.

Absolute joke of an airport literally can't get to anywhere direct everywhere is one or two stops, so it's off to Edinburgh again instead of flying from my local airport unbelievable 🙄

As usual Aberdeen was a pleasure to fly to. It is so easy to to transit especially if on an internal flight with no customs or immigration to clear.

It's a joke you have to pay £7 to pay to get dropped off in a taxi £2 for a smoke, they do this knowing offshore workers have to travel but what about everyone else, abd nothing has been improved

I have to admit - the Staff of AIA is a Top Class and extreemly helpful, however, today there was massive queue and guy was asked for help, and in veeeeeery slow manner approched to the desk... it was enoying

Airport fine, quiet and well organised. Short term car park is close but expensive. Previous problems with number plate recognition have been sorted with easy to access tap and go units at exits. Usually cheaper to prebook if possible.

Worst Airport ever. Flown yesterday from ABZ-LHR BA1315. Departed 21:45 around 1hr 45min late. Not enough ground crew working and De-Icing took ages resulting arriving at LHR around 23:00 yesterday. The Captain told me he will put a report in and I will report this airport and its staff to the UK Aviation Authority .

Incompetent ground staff made us wait 2 hours on the runway for ice treatment, completely unacceptable when cold weather was entirely predicted. Imbecile management of an airport in the far north of Scotland. Having to pay £5.50 for a drop off is yet another kick in the teeth from abz.

Winters day in Aberdeen, so not an unexpected event. Take offs delayed by hours. Told it’s due to inability to de-ice aircraft. Looking out of the terminal all the aircraft at stands have boarded but going no where. At least one flight appears to be waiting on apron to disembark as all stands full. Are they going to B&Q and getting de-icer 5 litres at a time?????? Been flying out of here for 30+ years and despite changes in owners over the years the over riding impression is that in any slightly unusual situation the airport management falls apart. Heck of an indictment on North East Scotland.

Aberdeen airport has come a long way in the 20+ years I have traveled through it, over the years it has had a number of upgrades to the interior which are for the most part good. I recently flew to London and from parking the car in the short stay to the gate took no time at all, and the staff were friendly. One of the improvements that is not so good is the hike from arrivals to baggage claim. The reason that this is a 3 star and not higher is the absolutely money grabbing activity that occurs if you are dropping off or picking up someone from the airport £6! for what is at most 5 minutes at the airport, it's a total joke! I wouldn't grudge paying £1 or £2 but I can't see what the justification is for £6.

Due to a booking error by Last Minute (who have been completely useless) Lynette went above and beyond to help us catch a connecting flight, her colleagues even fed us donuts while we waited. As most people are quick to leave bad reviews I wanted to sing the praises of the staff on the Skytanking desk, helpful, cheerful and dressed up for Xmas, a credit to the airport. Thanks again.

I don't like being ripped off and charging separate £7 fees for taxi drop offs and collections is a total scam.

The airport enforced £7 taxi fee is crazy. Nearly £20 to go to the train station round the corner

I'm writing this as i'm still currently waiting to check in my luggage. i was number 20 in the queue checking our luggage in, and i have now waited for 45 minutes, and there are still 8 people in front of me. What the hell are they doing? making luggage and handmade boarding passes? slowest workers i have ever experienced. Date : 13 dec 2024 (9:30) (British airways)

Overly expensive, not sure how they can justify paying £5.50 just to get out of the airport. And as for international what a load of baloney. It is cheaper to have 2 hotel night stays,travelling to and from Edinburgh and 15 nights parking and still works out £700 cheaper to fly to tenerife than flying from a so called international which only does European flights.

As usual with airports, parking or dropping off prices are extortionate but at least this airport is not too busy so dropping is easy to do. Parking is very close to the terminal. Nice enough inside but too many food outlets. The payable lounge is very nice if you want to start your holiday off in style. All round small but decent airport.

Already checked in, security was quick, decent places for refreshments while waiting. All was good but not 5 star luxurious.

I’m originally from Aberdeen but no longer live there, I visit one. Year and each time I return I’m shocked at how poor this airport really is, it gets worse and worse each year! I’ve flown all over the world, visiting 3rd world countries and they have better ran airports than this place, absolutely the worst airport there is, charging astronomical amounts just to drop people off, shameful!

Simple airport that runs like clockwork

One landing per hour in this airport It took us 55 min to get from London to ABZ and 45 min for the luggage to arrive on the belt I have not been to this airport for almost a year … it’s a shame that they can not over come this simple task that most much larger airports do in 20 min .. what a mess !

After two flight cancellations from Heathrow, I was finally able to go after changing the time and date. Although it is an international airport, it is small. There are many shops for that reason. I had to walk down a long, sloping hallway to the rental car office, which was tough since I was carrying a suitcase. When I tried to enter the airport lounge, it closed more than 30 minutes earlier than the closing time.

Great little airport, security is always a breeze. Staff are helpful too. Still a good little airport, never have to queue for security!

Expensive airport. Cheaper to fly & park in Edinburgh or Glasgow if going on holiday. ABZ is my option for work only. Checkin staff always friendly & helpful. Security staff quite arrogant & don't like it when they are incorrect.

Not going to lie this is not my favourite airport! And I am pretty much sure that it is not a lot of people‘s favourite airports as they call themselves an international airport but hardly fly anywhere. The parking to drop off family and friends is absolutely ridiculous and we find it very expensive!The good thing about this airport as because it is so small compared to most airports the security cues are not long and you don’t find yourself waiting and accused throughout the airport.

Well long story short I was booked on a flight out with Wideroe via Finnair to Bergen then Helsinki. But according to the lovely lady at the gate my passport was "defaced" I then was told to leave the gate area and return my duty free. To which I replied "is no one going to come and check in return it" to which she replied "no". So I left the airport with duty free cigarettes very happy and applied for a emergency passport. At the passport office the woman told me there was no issue with my passport and I should of been able to travel . I travel 3x per month with work now Aberdeen will never get my custom again 😂. But I have a new passport £520 compensation for denied boarding compensation I could say it was a gold mine in fairness.

Terrible signage for the parking. They literally charge £1 per minute for pick up. Absolute disgrace of an airport.

Easy airport to use, clean tidy, easy security

Small airport so check in and security is normally fast, and with renew security scanners now you don’t need to take out your electronics makes it much easier

It's the only Airport I know of that has the God dam cheek to CHARGE £2 50 for having a cigarette,must be true about the Scots and money 💰

Flied from there many times and always was happy. The building is clean and medium size. There are many cafes and duty free shops. Quite a lot flights from small city like Aberdeen, you can fly to Luton, Gatwick, Heathrow and London City Airport I think as well as Türkiye, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belfast, Norway, Denmark, Bulgaria, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Latvia and Canary. There aren't many gates because the airport isn't full with flights. The flights are usually on time, the only time my flight got cancelled was when the Microsoft system was broken. I had a flight from Heathrow by British Airways 2 days ago, the wind was so strong that when the plane was landing it literally touched the ground for 3 seconds and then went back to the air. We successfully landed on 2 try, but if we wouldn't we would go to Glasgow because of the wind.

Things are changing and it's not the size of the place, but the services and products offered within the airport (say latest perfumes from famous brands or limited editions of quality single malts available only here). Improved in many respects (the duty free shops, the restaurants, the lounges), modernised for a better experience, it won't disappoint unless unfairly compared with other major European airports or more popular destinations.

Plane arrived on time. Over an hour before the bags arrived despite only 1 flight arriving. Got told the airport only has one baggage truck. Very poor. And don't even bother trying to get a taxi in the evening...

Love how efficient this airport is. I know it doesn’t have the footfall of a lot of airports. But not once do I end up stuck in security queues. Staff all really pleasant and helpful.

Aberdeen airport had really expanded nicely. True, they're still ironing out some kinks, but for a wee airport it out performs many others!

Small airport with shirt distances to walk and relatively few flights.

No thrills. Great that their security technology is first class. Men's toilets need cleaning more regularly.

Shocking length of time to wait for luggage.

We were flying with Wizz Air from Aberdeen to Gdansk in Poland. Our first flight was cancelled all together. The second flight left Aberdeen late. Wizz Air were a disaster but the staff at Aberdeen Airport were not to blame for that. We actually got through security really quickly. Aberdeen Airport is quite small and easy to find your way around. For us a good choice for Airport and a bad choice for travel.

Worse airport ever. Ridiculous queue for getting a taxi, be aware that you can be waiting for longer than 40 mins. It is suppose to be an international airport but extremely difficult to get in, there are buses just from Aberdeen, no connected with nearby areas, no trains and the drop of is £5.50! As I live north Inverurie the only option I've got is getting there in taxi and cost me almost £60.

Pretty average airport experience, with what feels rip off parking prices - but I guess that's every airport these days. On the plus side, parking is relatively easy, being ticketless, using number plate recognition .. drive up to the entrance barrier ... it opens .. park ... drive upto the exit barrier .... and your charge appears in a little screen ... pay by card. Another plus was the very happy and helpful person who served us in the bar ... a smile and a great attitude goes a long way.

3rd world airport. They NEVER put on rear stairs, queues in passport control at international arrivals are the worst I’ve ever seen. (Despite it being a tiny airport with limited international destinations) Baggage is slow. Pretty sure there is only one belt for international arrivals. Facilities and food are awful. No taxis at rank due to £5 drop off fee, 727bus runs from here but has no luggage compartments. First bus are another joke outfit. If you wish to travel north you have to go south to city center to get a bus north. The place is an embarrassment to the city. Quicker uber move into Aberdeen the better.

Airport is OK. However, there are not enough taxis available due to airport fees which have scared the taxi drivers away. Dyce train station is too far away (1 h walk). Bolt and Uber are not available.

Conditions for passengers are getting better and better... no free wifi... it's a failure

Decent international airport. 727 infront to take you to downtown and Howes Road

Extra tax that axes the services from/to the airport. No flights connections throughout the European continent, Ryanair kicked out as only has 2 connections operative during summer. Oil and Gas capital of Europe with axed flight connections. I wonder if the manging company realise the frustrations of all people of Aberdeenshire and the city.

Unlike every other airport international flights check-in does not open 3 hours before your flight. It opens when the airport decides. National flights it doesn't open 2 hours before the flight but again when the airport decides. Four times I have flown from here and every time the check in was at least 20 minutes late opening. Today our flight to Corfu has an official check in opening time of 2.5 hours before the flight (going on previous experience it will be nearer 2 hours).

Quite complicated to come here by bus.

Tried calling the phone number several times due to an urgent situation that required speaking to a person, and the number would regularly hang up on me. I was never able to speak to anyone.

Nice and quick with getting baggage off plane. New arrivals hall is beautiful but shame you can't go smoke a cig while waiting for baggage like the good old days 🤭 always usually a few taxis waiting so get to the que fast because you might be in for a wait

If you need to be on the airport early and have luggage to check in this airport is tragic. They don not let you in more than 2 hours before departure. After security it is ok.

Can't pay by phone. Need to swipe a card. I thought excessive fees were to pay for improvements . Even the smallest of businesses have a phone payment options

Aberdeen Airport is, without a doubt, the worst airport I have ever experienced. The security staff are exceptionally rude and unprofessional, treating passengers with disrespect and creating an intimidating atmosphere if one dares to respond to their behaviour. The service at Skytanking is equally appalling, as the staff show no willingness to assist passengers and respond with a hostile attitude, attempting to portray customers as disrespectful or causing unnecessary conflict. Overall, the staff at this airport exhibit a shocking lack of courtesy and professionalism.

This airport still operates in the 80s. It has some catch ups to do.

Why why why do all the restaurants and shops close for 7pm???

Pick up and drop off prices are ridiculous. Taxi ranks have hardly any taxis because it’s a £7 charge per pick up.

Car hire is still a walk from the terminal. There's no shuttle bus between Dyce station and the airport. Take a taxi. If you are going to car hire go to the Crowne Plaza. From the city, the 727 bus is a useful option ..

Very quiet. Most shops shut. But all in all not too bad

My family and I flew from here to Palma, Mallorca, was absolutely fantastic experience. Airport wasn’t to busy when we flew out or when we came back. Price for food in the airport wasn’t to bad either. We flew with Tui and had a pleasant flight.

Easy to park but need a second mortgage car park.

Airport is nice...car rentals are within walking distance...they try not to rent vehicles for Blacks it seems..We saw cars online, but they all had excuses..they we booked the car online ...and forced their hands to bring out the car we booked and paid for. Why is it a crime to be Black everywhere including Aberdeen, Scotland? Sad state of affairs.

Horrible metal chairs and not great facilities but big shout out to security staff - seemed to have been trained well now : really friendly. Big improvement in that regard.

Small airport. Can't complain about anything really. Directions in the airport are straightforward, toilets were clean and staff very nice and welcoming.

Trying to find a helpful phone number for the airport to ask a question on behalf of my mum wasn't helpful as there were phone numbers coming up that were not in service

This airport has raised its charges for pick up, short term parking and taxis to such an extent that it has now lost its social license to operate. The government needs to look at legislating to protect the public from an abusive monopoly, or alternatively taking ownership of the airport in order to provide a public service commensurate with the costs. It’s clear the airport has gone too far in recent times and has lost the support of the business community.

Unfortunately I can't give it less than 1 star. £5.50 to drop and pick up from this dump of airport. Yet another reason to avoid this place and go to Edinburgh or Glasgow..

For a small time, the waiting conditions for the plane are good

No taxis, no buses, and I guess no staff to drop bags off which is why I waited 40 mins.

Baggage claim is miles away, ground crew take ages to load bags. Taxis are stupid expensive as aberdeen airport charge them 7quid just to pick people up. Utter rip off

It's a small airport but decent with their services. Not too far from the city centre and there's always a couple of taxis outside and a bus that takes you into the city. There's a few shops & restaurants inside and it's well maintained. They do offer some international travel through here but the majority for domestic flights. The staff are all friendly and helpful. My only issue is that if you're waiting on taxis in late evenings, there's only a few that operate from the airport and there's typically long queues. We had to wait for over an hour.
