Aasim Indian Restaurant (Former Taste of India) in Southend-on-Sea

Came by on a Monday evening after five and it was closed - wondering if it is in business anymore

Let down by restaurant at the last minute for delivery should have told sooner will NOT RECOMMEND

Excellent food which is well priced. Not licensed to serve alcohol. Parking just a short walk away or right outside if your lucky.

Amazing food and the owner hassan is lovely! You have to try the duck tikka, special!!!!!

Good place to eat nice and peaceful

Masala dosa very soggy and tasteless! The sauces tasted like water. These guys need to get into work at 11am if they start at 12 and clean (mop and clean the tables) tables had food from last night. Water bottles are greasy with hand prints. No justice to taste of India brand.

Terrible food. Very oily, poor quality and definitely not the same as East Ham or at least the old Taste of India. I would highly recommend not going to this restaurant. It's a waste of money!

excellent eating experience ..from walking in the door and being greeted by employee, seated and order taken, was maybe 3 minutes. meal was served hot and fish curry home taste very excellent...

Food was good when they opened but now it is rubbish. Served worst Rasam & Rasam Vada. Both dishes remade with hell lots of black paper. I need to mention here that Both rejected dishes were severed with same food with added missing spices. Still it was not good. Theses guy is not ashamed that he is serving non sense. My wife orders Rava Masala dosa (of course so called South Indian restaurant). It was raw , thick and absolutely out of order. We rejected it. Just to add to the insult these guy was trying to cheat us by charging £ 9.50 for Vegetarian fried rice which was clearly mentioned in Menu @ £5.95. His argument was its special. Ok agreed special but did we ordered special , NO. Above it’s not mentioned on Menu. Not a single item is priced @ £9.50 So here you are these Idiots running restaurant business in UK same as in INDIA. Cheating and cheating.

Ordered from here when it opened. It was good. But as time as gone on the food quality has gone from bad to worst and the prices have gone up. Will not be ordering from here again. I would honestly suggest to all customers do not waste your hard earned money on ordering from here. A complete disaster. And also the 5 star reviews are fake.

Good taste of South Indian food, we had dosa and were satisfied with food quality. I would suggest u should inform while ordering that how much spicy u want the food. Good ambience, nice staff.

Simply excellent & most recommended by my self ever

Fabulous authentic and fresh food in Southend! Sounds unreal! Dosa was great, Manchurian paneer excellent, noodles typical Indian street food style. You could think you are eating at veg places in Harrow/ilford! Staff friendly and polite and happy to change around things if needed!

I agree we do need something like this in Southend and we did, it was sitas Indian restaurant (in the same property)and was replaced by a taste of India. However the prices here are far to high for a town like this, fine if your used to working in London and used to the high prices for food but not when your a local. £8.95 for a starter is to expensive. The menu doesn't give any idea of portion size, I'm not paying £3.95 for 2 somasa, I wasn't impressed with the food when a friend ordered in, mine alone cost nearly £30 just for a starter, main and a bread, no meal options available, small portions and I know how easy it is to make a dosa as I do so often. so charging over £5 for one is simply a bit cheeky. If I want a taste of India I'll ask my mate from India to cook and learn how from her.😊

This is a relatively new shop in Southend-on-Sea and they have others in the East End of London. Therefore I was quite excited to know that at last we could finally get some decent Indian food in the area. The food when it arrived was very tasty and exactly what we expected. We had a mixture of meat and vegetarian dishes with a nan and some chapatiis. The chapattis were not as expected and expensive for what they are. The rest of the food tasted good at the time and enjoyable. What was not expected or enjoyable was the fact all three of us who are the food had belly aches the next morning and not feeling too great. Now I don't know what it was attributed to as I did not eat the meat dish but the chapattis, as mentioned were poor so not too sure. So that is the bottom line so one has to make up their mind about this.

Actually better than Eastham, Time need to be improved

Undercooked rice and couldn't finish my prawn dish as it looked raw. Food was late for collection and they don't take card. Was charged for paneer tikka but it wasn't in the order and when I phoned to check they said it wasn't available. Worst of all, I only came here because they advertised 20% off but when I asked about it they said that the menu prices were already 20% off. Joke.
