A Tavola Gastronomia Siciliana in High Peak

Two adults, two children. We ordered main meals for us and a pizza each for the children. They served our meals but never brought the pizzas for the children. They had lost that part of the order and only realised when we asked where the childrens pizzas were. By the time they brought them out we had pretty much finished our meals. Also we booked our table at least 2 weeks in advance for 6.00pm and our table wasnt ready until 6.25pm Very poor service indeed, although the food was good, but completely spoiled by the experience.

Great little place, both food and people are authentic

Went with very good friends for dinner on Friday night. A lovely quirky restaurant and a very extensive menu. Lots to choose from. Can highly recommend this unusual place.

Excellent service, brilliant, attentive staff, unusual Sicilian food, and make sure you leave room for pudding: they have a fantastic range of desserts (the sharing plate of mini-desserts is ideal if you can't make your mind up! Thanks so much for accommodating our daughter who couldn't make it for the meal but joined us later for dessert (a chocolate and rum bread and butter pudding in her case.) The birthday dessert (and the chorus of Happy Birthday) really made my partner's evening !

Ate here for the first time last night .Fantastic meal . Food was amazing , great quality produce , authentic cuisine . Fed up of eating out and getting mediocrity , here was very different . Staff friendly ,helpful and efficient . Not a cheap Italian meal but well worth it , will definitely visit again .

Wow! Is it possible to give 5*+? This is the place to go, great atmosphere, great vibes, amazingly wonderful food. Genuine Sicilian family owned restaurant that's relocated from Reddish to a bigger place (in New Mills) about five weeks ago. Homemade pasta homemade gelato, everything cooked with care & tlc. Had a chat with the head chef about Sicily, about food, about Italian style of in general & of course about Roberto Mancini's Italy/Euros. Book yourselves a table, soak it up & really enjoy the moment. If you just want a drink & a pudding or drink & gelato or drink with a cigarette then there's tables outside in the courtyard. A real gem.

Can’t recommend this place enough. Came here for our first date, even though the kitchen was closing at 9pm (we got here at quarter to) the waiter was amazing and made sure we were looked after 😊 food and wine was delicious! Absolute vibe 😁👌🏻

A lovely venue and great food unfortunately let down by a polite but chaotic service. The starters were lovely and arrived promptly but then my vegetarian partner was served a fish ravioli which for the wrong person could be potentially dangerous and for any vegetarian biting into it a particularly unpleasant experience. We also noticed that the table next to us also had a mix up with their food. Then there was another mix up with dessert where our tiramisu was bagged up with our cannoli that we asked to have as a takeaway which led to a really long wait between courses.

A Tavola is a great reason to visit New Mills. Everything about the experience was exceptional, and I look forward to my next visit, hopefully as soon as possible! Top, top notch, you quite literally can not go wrong at A Tavola.

The cake was for my mom’s birthday and I, as a child, played the tambourine with the staff while singing Happy Birthday. The time I had was magnificent and amazing a definite 5 star, everyone should know of this restaurant and come to eat. More of this restaurant should be elsewhere 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻!!!!!

I regret having to tell people how good this place is, as I want to keep it to myself. The restaurant really goes all in on the small, Italian family-run business. The staff are exceptional and really make us feel welcome whenever we go. They are really chatty and are super friendly, as well as very professional. We brought our baby with us and they were very accommodating around our need to park a pram. The atmosphere is incredible. The decor is all Sicilian and they have the right Italian music to set the mood (*real* Italian music :D ) We like to have a few antipasti and some drinks. This time we had the arancini, aubergine balls, chickpea frittas and cold sharing platter. All of the ingredients are top notch and genuine products. For desert we went for different tiramisu (yes, there's a choice) and both were excellent. I genuinely feel a bit sad when leaving this place as there's always a feeling of leaving the party early. A good restaurant should take you on a trip and a tavola definitely does this. It's like a 2 hour holiday to sunny Sicily, even on a wet and grey evening in Derbyshire.

I came with two other people on the night. We were found a nice quiet spot upstairs and were seen very quickly. The feel and décor had a nice and relaxed feel about it. My only gripe is the music is a tad too loud in places. Our food was really nice, however one of the orders was incorrect but it was replaced really quick and the food was exceptional. I would definitely come again and I am sure next time the fifth star will be earned.

We got Magna Graecia'd in an unlikely spot in New Mills. It was like being back in Syracusae, delicious. I am pleased to recommend the big swirly sausage (I am not sure of the Sicilian name). However, I ordered the Pinot Nino Noir Blend and after a while it had not arrived. So I enquired to the waiter "Any news on the wine?", to which he replied "It is just coming." And then it came and it was good. The toilet whilst clean and inviting contained a significant protection dispensary on the wall, for possible Roman themed enjoyment. I for one thought that this was strange, but many of my acquaintances thought otherwise. Finally, for desert I had nuts of the forest and cream-eth of the chef, a real Sicilian delicacy. Cura ut valeas.

Went on a busy Saturday night. Staff were lovely and very friendly but the operation does not seem to be well organised. Took 30 minutes to take our drink order, 60 minutes before our starter arrived and over 90 minutes before our main. Could see that others around us had a similar experience. All the staff are working on all the tables at once and it is disorganised - would work better if staff were allocated certain tables. Only two staff members were able to actually take payments which slows things down further. We had to ask multiple times for drinks/cutlery. Food was okay, nothing special and probably 10-20% too expensive , portion sizes are modest. £7.50-£8 for a pint of draft beer is expensive.

We are so lucky to have A Travola in New Mills, the restaurant is welcoming and staff very friendly. The food is well made and delicious.

Food was excellent and the staff were very friendly, Menue could be a bit daunting simply because of the massive choice of Secilian, lots of wine by the glass to pick from, they also appear to be open to requests. They were perfectly happy to allow our dog into the restaurant. Little short staffed so service was slower than normal.

Lost for words… what a delight of a place. I haven’t bothered posting photos as none of the ones I’ve seen do it justice. Freshly made pasta, sea food tremendous, delightful Sicilian drinks, heavenly deserts. What more does a person need.

We had a wonderful time. Food was outstanding, Nikki and her staff were fabulous. We can’t wait to be back again.

Amazing food and what a menu! Wow!!!!!

This place is excellent. The staff are so friendly, the food was so delicious (shout out to the fried chickpea things we had for a starter that were out of this world). I'm just sad that I don't live locally and this can't be my regular haunt.

We were looking forward to eating here and trying their food as it was local to where we were staying with family and also the reviews were so good. The welcome was very friendly and the place has a cool vibe. Where it fell short for us was the food and the price. One of our party wanted gluten free pizza base which was listed on the website, however they didn’t have any available on the day. Not a big deal as there were other GF meals available. The pizza was average, however the cheese to pizza ratio was good. It wasn’t anything special unfortunately. Overall it’s a nice place with friendly people, but it’s London prices and the food just doesn’t justify it.

We have been here today celebrating my mother-in-law birthday and we could not have chosen an better place. The food was amazing. We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 pasta with Ragu and everything was really really good. Also every member of the staff was really nice with us and specially with our 2 year’s old daughter. They even brought here a baby doll to play with!!! Thank you and see you very soon!!

Really good food, service and ambience! Despite not booking and coming in last minute they found as a table! All 3 waiters that served us at some point took their time to explain the different options and were extremely friendly

What an amazing place. From the minute we walked in, we were greeted so warmly by the staff and the service was brilliant throughout our meal, even though the restaurant was really busy. The food was so tasty, very different from any Italian restaurant I’ve been to and you can tell the finest quality ingredients have been used and everything is homemade. The ice cream is delicious. I highly recommend going here.

I’ve not enjoyed a trip to New Mills as much since Glossop North End smashed the millers in the FA Vase many years ago. The food was incredible. Easily the best, most authentic Italian dining experience we’ve had since we were in Italy 4+ years ago. Staff were as friendly as anything too. All in all a wonderful wonderful experience.

Repeat visit. What can I say. Just 5 star in every way. Service, food and atmosphere. Just never disappoints.

We had heard great things about here so were keen to try. Our table was right by the kitchen so there was a near-constant stream of staff squeezing past our table and not so relaxing. The food was nice but didn't match the hype we had heard about it. Service was good and friendly. Each dish cost about £3-4 more than what I feel it should have. Also, taken aback by £7.50 for a pint of lager!

We had the most incredible meal for my 30th birthday, the staff, food and general place was just incredible. We couldn't fault it. A special thanks to Nicky, who went through the whole menu with us and was so attentive. Our first time in the Peak District - we cannot recommend this place enough!

3 courses - all cooked very well and flavours were original and interesting. All beautifully presented. Definitely a cut above the usual local restaurant.

This place deserves nothing less than 5 stars. Literally like a slice is Sicily has been transplanted to the Peak District. Service was friendly, attentive, and truly helpful. Atmosphere was convivial and cosy. And the food… unparalleled. A true jewel of a restaurant.

I had been to A Tavola when they were in Reddish and raved about it ever since. I'm so pleased they've moved to New Mills and its so successful. It should be because the food and atmosphere is wonderful. Highly recommend.

Absolutely fantastic. Well worth a visit. Been wanting to try this place for ages, and no better day than our birthday weekends/year since we got engaged in Sicily. It is amazing. The food is delicious and very authentic, the whole vibe is like being back in Sicily (with a little Swizzles remind at the end you're in New Mills haha!). The staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. The pistachio tiramisu is incredible. 6 of us went and we were all so chuffed with the meal. I cannot wait to go again. Comments around the price, it is more expensive than your usual Italian cuisine but it's well worth it for an experience you can't get everywhere.

Md and my fience went for a meal on our 7 year anniversary and it was such a lovely night staff were supper friendly and had a genuine care for all the customers felt super homely while still romantic and food and cocktails were devine will definitely be going again!

The attention to detail and care put into everything in this restaurant is the most exceptional experience at a restaurant I have ever had, so much so that our two nights we have spent in New Mills has been spent at this restaurant! We came upon this restaurant after some walking activity we had around New Mills, and it was like a little pocket of paradise. The atmosphere was enchanting and everything we ate we could not get enough of. The staff working there go above and beyond for their customers and the ingredients used are first rate. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. I look forward to the day where I visit this restaurant again.
