I really enjoyed my meal. The restaurant is very clean. The menu reminded me of a typical menu in Portugal and the food was as good as any meal I have had in the Algarve. I had garlic prawns to start with. The bread I used to mop up the sauce was just like I have on holiday. I then had their daily special of pork medallions in mushroom sauce, which was delicious. The creme caramel pudding was obviously home made and excellent. I will definitely be eating here again. Don't let the outside put you off what is a great restaurant inside. It is also really good value for money. The service was also great by a lovely waitress, who is from Lisbon.

Visited with a friend to take advantage of the EOTHO incentive and what can i say, The food was absolutely excellent. We were taken care of from the moment we walked in and the place was immaculate. The only thing preventing a 5* review is that no discount was given and when we challenged it they took about 15 minutes to recalculate the bill, which was still not discounted enough. Despite this minor inconvenience however i will be visiting again!

You may be forgiven in thinking of moving on we you arrive at this GEM of a Portuguese restaurant but gladly we read previous reviews and were not disappointed at all! The atmosphere inside was homely like a family atmosphere. The owner welcomed us and gave us great advice on the wine and food which by the way was excellent. Just a slight downer was that although the restaurant was on the goverment Eat Out site, there was no discount given, however if we returned to this area we would still use this lovely friendly restaurant again and cannot complain what with a starter, main, olives and sweet plus a bottle of wine the bill was under £60.

If you’re in or around Corby, make the effort to drive a little way out of the centre to this excellent Portuguese restaurant (and next door cafe). The food is really good, and authentic, and the wines are excellent and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and helpful. During the week you can probably just turn up, but best to book from Thursday to Sunday.

We were the only ones in the restaurant at lunch time yet we still had to wait ages to be served and even when we were the waiter got our order wrong. The café next door was busy, so I think the waiter was busy in there. If you are going to open the café and the restaurant you need to be able to serve both sets of customers equally. Food is good, but was made to feel very unwelcome so wont be coming back.

This has long been one of my favourite restaurants in Corby. Having not been there for a while I was really looking forward to going back. However, disappointed!!! In fairness, the food was of the same, very high standard but the waiter spent most of his time in the kitchen and, consequently left us waiting. It was not even busy - he had 3 covers including us!! Despite not being busy everything took him an age - even getting our drinks! He did not even bother to come out and ask if our meals were ok or if we needed anything else. Sorry - only tip for him is pay attention to your clients!!

The restaurant is clean and well decorated. Great selection of food on the menu. My boyfriend had the chicken kebab and said it was really nice. I had the sea bream with salad and potatoes. The fish was lovely and the salad had a very nice dressing on it. One small downside for me was the bones in the fish but that was my own fault for not spotting that the option I choose wasn't filleted. Will definitely return and would recommend to others.

the restaurant closes at 11 o'clock, but at 10:30pm they are sending us away, I asked for a coffee but the answer was that it was not possible because they had already cleaned the machine with leach, leaching is toxic they might want to poison the customers, the waitress, a gentleman who should never work in public because he is very rude, just out of respect for those who were there to have fun is that things were not worse, the price is very high for the amount they serve us because I have been several times in another tavern and things are very different and much better, an advice (hire other employees),

Eight years after this restaurant opened we've finally tried it; actually now twice this year. Modern, simple and clean surroundings. I am no expert in Portuguese food having only been to the country once but they serve dishes, like cataplana that I definitely recognise from my travels. Like the restaurant itself the food is simple but it is extremely tasty. Numerous fish dishes support the traditional meat menu. Having such a choice of fish is a real bonus and at a reasonable price. Overall lovely fresh, home cooked food as far from fast mass produced food as you could get.

The service wasn't the fastest but we were a large table, however when the food did come it all arrived at the same time and was piping hot. Couldn't te combs this place enough. The prices are very reasonable, and there is a good range on of drinks menu too. I was a little disappointed to see an ice cream menu of shop bought things and think that this detracted from the lovely deserts that were on offer on the back of this menu, all of which were Devine. Let me start by saying that I had been to this restaurant several times and was extremely happy but have completely changed my opinion due to a poor experience here last night!!!This is a honest review.....The food is nice but very overpriced for what you get, the parking is horrendous around the restaurant and the service received was appalling! Last night I went to this restaurant with my husband it was 6.30pm and there were 2 other couples already seated in the restaurant. We were welcomed by the waiter (or owner whatever he was) saying "Oi" and then asked us if we had booked. To this we responded that we hadn't and was told we could not eat here as they were fully booked, yet they were nearly all empty tables!! How very disappointing as I had previously recommended this restaurant to my friends and family, it's very safe to say that if you don't mind being spoken to like a stray dog then this is a good place to go. I will NEVER be returning here again!!!

Friendly singular member of staff, I ordered 'Portuguese mixed savouries' as a starter. Very overpriced for the four, small average tasting savouries, although, the prawn one was only cooked on the outside, whilst it was still icy cold in the center. The one member of staff who was 'serving' was no where to be found, to the point where we had to knock on the kitchen door to get someone's attention. The savoury was replaced quickly, however, as the chef continued to occasionally stare through the window at us it made me feel a little uncomfortable. The mains were also pretty average. Overall, the poor experience left me a little disappointed as reviews on TripAdvisor gave me high expectations which were not met.

The sardine starter looked amazing, though I had opted for a selection of deep fried fishcake like dipping titbits. Of the mains, the lamb stew was lovely, the veal stroganoff very tender and tasty, and the sea bream plate was plentiful, fresh and cooked to perfection...Yes I tried a bit of them all ... Lol. A good menu selection, and would happily return and try some of their other dishes.

Do not be put off by the slightly run down location, once inside there is a tastefully decorated restaurant with a good ambiance and friendly staff. The menu has a good selection of interesting Portugese dishes that represent all areas of Portugal. Fish meat and vegetarian. For those who are expecting high speed food, this is not the place for you. They appear to cook many dishes from scratch, hence the quality and this cannot be hurried. There is a choice of modestly priced "amuse bouches" to pick at whilst you are waiting so there is something to keep one occupied. When the meal arrives it is well presented and everything we have tried so far has been delicious, particularly the fish. The chef has the knack of extracting loads of flavour from his fish dishes; I haven't tasted better even in much more renowned establishments. The range of sweets in pretty much standard but once again they are of good quality and generous portions. The cherry on the cake is the coffee which we found delicious and very modestly priced. Overall a very enjoyable experience that we intend to repeat.

These dishes were all really good, fresh and went well together! For mains I have the tuna steak with caramelized onions. I had not tired tuna steak before so this was an intentional first for me. The gentleman who was serving us recommended I had it cooked medium, so i went with his recommendation - and was glad I did!The tuna was cooked wonderfully as was everything else served with it. The only thing that I will mention is the caramelized onions are not like caramelized onions that we have in England, they taste more like pickled onions. My friends shared a dish that is a traditional Portuguese dish, it was basically a mixed fish stew with some chili and rice, and tasted really good.I had a mouthful to try and it was good, it wasn't an over powering taste of fish or chili, they both went really well together. It is a large dish and was meant to sharing but between both of my friends there was still left over, so i chose to take it away. For dessert we had 3 different dishes: Banana split, Grandma's Sweet & Natas do ceu. All three of these desserts were delicious and I recommend them all (even if you go alone!)I would definitely go back to this restaurant, the server was really friendly & welcoming, the food was great and I would say the value is average. A Tasca was recommended to me by a friend who also suggested going early and eating off the Early Bird menu. Good idea in theory but not in practice. The food from this menu is canteen not restaurant standard at best, even considering that three courses cost but £15.00!The restaurant is quite small and pleasant enough and being the first people there were soon seated by the sole server who took our drinks orders and then placed baskets of sliced bread and spiced dipping oil on the table. From this very limited menu I chose the Mixed Portuguese savories for starters which were fine, served 70's style with a bit of shredded lettuce as well as three dipping sauces - garlic, peri peri and sweet &sour. For main course I had the roast loin of pork with sliced tropical fruit and cream which the server brought out with chips without asking me my preferance. When I pointed out that I did not want chips she provided rice and offered me the chips as well (I declined). The pork was sliced cold and rehated to be served in the sauce and the sliced tropical fruit turned out to be a ring of tinned pinapple cut in half and a slice of tinned peach! The sauce was quite bland but the combination with the rice worked. The garnish was a sprinkle off chopped parsley and no vegetable or salad was served with the main course. For dessert I chose the Pudding Flan which is basically Creme Caramel..... I have had this quite often in other places and also make it at home. A Tasca's version did not taste freshly made. There was no true caramel taste from cooking the sugar and the egg custard did noy taste of egg custard and the two tiny sqirts of canned cream....Omg!My friend suggested going again and chosing from the a la carte menu, but I am not at all sure that I will be back, much as I enjoy a good natter over dinner with friends.

The reviews here are accurate, don't let the appearance (location) put you off eating here. Went with a group from work upon recommendations from other colleagues. We read the reviews here and we agreed, the food is really nice, a wide / varied menu, very reasonable for the quality and the desserts were fantastic.Overall, this was a really pleasant surprise in Corby. We'll be back.Try the Corpus wine,,,,hmmm

Went in with my girlfriend for a meal, staff were very friendly and helpful. Ordered the mushrooms x2 and then a sirloin and the peri peri chicken for mains. The mushrooms for starters were really bad, they were the packet breaded mushrooms you get from Iceland on a leaf of lettuce with garlic mayo, and for £6. Not good. The peri chicken for mains was really dry and not particularly tasteful, they say peri peri, but it looked like it was a brought peri peri dip stuck on the side. Really poor. The sirloin came out which to be fair wasn't cooked too bad but it come out in the middle of the plate and either side of the steak they had stuck on Mccains sliced potatoes which were so bland. No veg or salad or anything of any colour/taste either on the plate. The White wine and garlic sauce consisted of a light brown gravy like sauce that had been mixed (not cooked) with wine and a garlic clove had been placed ontop of the steak afterwards. Really really bad for the price, and would certainly never be back even though I live very local. Sorry!!

This was a gem, great Portugese food hidden away out of the town centre. As well as the food being really authentic and tasty the service was exemplary. The early bird menu was very good value for money and had a good selection, but next time I'm going for the wide range of choices on the main menu - they look so interesting. Just like being in Portugal - if only they could add sunshine to the menu!

I was staying nearby passing through Corby. As A Tasca was nearby and the reviews looked good I picked this for my evening meal.On a quiet Tuesday night it was me dining alone with my familiar kindle. I did not feel alone as the waitress was friendly without being intrusive and the music just right, not too loud. To accompany my reading I had a carafe of excellent house red and a tapas of cheese and meat to nibble. The advertised 45 minute wait for the peri peri to cook passed quickly. Well worth waiting for as it was so good I could not resist gnawing the bones. If I go to Corby again A Tasca will be where I will dine.

Ate here as I wanted to try Portuguese food. I wasn't disappointed, the starters were lovely I had mixed empanadas style thing, the others had the black pudding and the chorizo. All were very happy with their starters. For main I had frango asado, I wasnt expecting half a grilled chicken to arrive it was lovely and I ate it all. Everyone was happy with their mains, the lamb stew was excellent, others had fish which was also excellent! I had the st honore cake for dessert which again was a big portion and very good. Will go back very good

What a place to find in Corby 20 mins from home.Just used a groupon token special offer ,Wow the best yet, this has opened a new restaurant for us to go to.From the outside my wife said its just a cafe, but inside its a real restaurant, with a wonderful service to match!!!!!Both of our meals from starters to mains great ....compared to our last meal in Cornwall last week with starters at £9 rubbish,,, this was a eye opener to how things should be.Also what a bonus next door they have a coffee shop, and lots of Portuguese specials, I have instructions from my wife to collect from this shop next week.We will certainly go again.

After receiving good local reviews we booked this place during a stay in Corby. The meals can be best be described as pub/bar meal quality at best. A little bit strange when the menu items are written in Portugese and when you order the waiter recites the item back in English. If you not interested in maintaining the theme then just have an English menu. I had the most strangest looking black pudding and chorizo starter which was simply pathetic. For main course had the pepper steak, the steak of which nearly floated off the plate there was that much sauce. Save your money and go for a simple pub meal.

Went here a few weeks ago after wanting to try it for ages. Nestled in a row of shops in an area you probably wouldn't risk walking around at night in, a pleasant surprise awaits you with an authentic looking small restaurant decorated with various Portuguese memorabilia including a signed Cristiano Ronaldo shirt. After a reasonable starter of mixed meats and cheeses, two steals followed, both ordered rare. One arrived rare but the other looked closer to medium-well. I took the medium-well one and actually quite enjoyed it, but it was really nothing special just a plain sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce and vegetables.Given the location (Corby is generally pretty cheap for most things) I was pretty shocked at the prices. The mains came to over £30 for 2 - if it were in London I'd have probably been happy but it was a bit overpriced really - I've had fillet for that price elsewhere and it's been far nicer.Overall - not bad but not great value

Nestled amid a row of unpromising takeaways in Corby's modest Occupation Road, La Tasca offers an authentic taste of Portugal at prices that are surprisingly reasonable. We mounted an all-out attack on the menu from chilled Sagres beer, Portuguese sardine pate, bread and olives, through a range of starters that included cold meats, a superb prawn dish and a bowl of clams in a light herby stock.Winner of the main course was probably the Fish Cataplana - a holiday favourite of mine. The wine list is authentic ranging from the mid-price range through to a superb (and rather more costly Douro). The restaurant was quiet on a Thursday night but booking is essential at weekends apparently. Word is getting around, and I can't say I'm surprised. We shall return.

Four of us ate at this Portuguese restaurant last night and were very pleased to find it every bit as good as we had been told. It is really authentic Portuguese. Even the prices! Main courses from about £8. We had traditional read and pate to whet our appetites. Then moved on the delicious starters. I had grilled prawns in a garlic and tomato sauce. I thought this dish was outstanding and I eagerly mopped up the sauce with bread. My friends also tried it and loved it. The others enjoyed their starters of cheese and ham, clams in a white wine sauce and grilled sardines. Main courses were peri peri chicken and chips and a cataplana (Portuguese casserole dish) of monk fish, saffron, white wine, clams, new potatoes and prawns. All thought the food was really good and excellent value for money. Our waitress was fantastic, very helpful, chatty and dealt iwith the teasings of one of the guys extremely well. We drank Sagres beers and Douro wine. We ate so well with all the bread mopping none of us could manage a dessert. Next time....I will definitely be going back.

So glad we found this delightful oasis. We thought it was great value for money, especially the "early bird" menu. The a la carte prawn starter was lovely, although I would ask for a little less piri piri!! The sauce with the monkfish was devine. A pretty intimate restaurant, completely staffed by Portuguese. The waitress was so helpful and clearly loved her job. Only wish we had a restaurant like this near to us in Suffolk. We shall certainly return to A Tasca, there is so much on the menu that we would like to try. Do drink the super Portuguese beer it goes so well with the food. (Should add fact that you can park right outside the restaurant.)

We dined in this restaurant over Christmas. It was the first time I had ever tried portuguese food and I thought it was lovely. The restaurant isn't very big but I suppose you could say it was intimate. They had a good selection of food and drink and the service was very friendly and efficient. The only criticisms I have is that the restaurant wasn't decorated very Christmassy (and we were out for a Christmas party so we did expect crackers on the table or something) and when my starter arrived it wasn't hot but to be fair it still tasted lovely. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.
