3hree Kings Coffee Company in Coleraine

Have been here many times before but not recently. Always had a good experience but clearly its gone downhill! An absolute rip off… £3.50 for a very underwhelming “caramel slice” I.e half a square!! This time I won’t be back…. my advice - read the menu, look at what’s on offer - and see the prices before purchasing… I see a customer in earlier review was charged 85p for an extra tea bag… says a lot about the customer ethos at “3hree Kings”

Just been today for the 3rd time, we have tried a few different dishes and most of which have been just okay. Today though we had the posh poached eggs with feta & tomato (+ sausages), sounded great but in reality it was disappointing as the fridge cold tomato left what should of been a warm/hot meal very cold! Cold eggs and cold toast with a lot of cold tomato, I couldn't manage to find any feta on the dish and my tea was also cold by the time we got our food. Service was a little slow but other than that fine, staff very pleasant and helpful. Price was a little high, over £30 for two breakfasts a tea (just a regular tea bag) and a coffee, which wasn't reflected in the quality of the food or portion size, but unfortunately this seems to be a growing trend around Portrush and Portstewart. I was going to have a small chocolate croissant afterwards but again £3.25 was a but much for all the size of it! Few people beside us complaining about the heat/cold draught and had to keep their coats on and we where nowhere near the front door, something i have also noticed on previous visits. Doubt we will be back, better options available.

I really liked this place! They had good tea and I got a biscuit which was really delicious. I highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Very nice indeed, the staff were friendly and helpful, the tea and coffee was good and the muffins and cakes were fresh and tasty. We liked our visit and will come again whenever we are nearby.

Been here a few times when up at the North Coast. It always seems busy, but that is a good thing. The queue goes really quick and seats become free quickly. The staff are really good and ordering food is great. The menu is really great for breakfast or Brunch. Will be back again without a doubt... Highly recommend.👍👍👍😎😎😎

Fanatic coffee shop. Fantastic!! Plenty of stock and the shelves were full. The store has bathrooms available, which is fantastic. Staff are friendly and helpful both on the sales floor and at the cashpoint. Bathrooms were clean, tidy , presentable, and regularly cleaned as per sheets on the wall. Shop was well air conditioned, and a nice temperature for a browse. Highly recommended for a satisfactory shopping experience! Thank you!

Could not believe it this morning .in ,3. KINGS ordered ,2 TEAS 1 Fruit scone and 1 Slice of toast. I asked for one strong cup of tea and to my absolute horror I was CHARGED 85 pence for an extra teabag I think that works out at about hfor 440tetley would be. 374 POUNDS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY AND it does not tell you anywhere on menu this bloody charge.i will not go near it again not will my many local friends.plesse stay away until they drop this stupid charge.yours Tom

Disappointing for such a lovely setting looking over the sea. Quality of food poor for price paid: pre-made food re-heated in microwave! Unfriendly staff. Will not be returning!

This place is not suitable for vegans. The only vegan option is a bland sausage roll. Also, they did not understand what vegan means and tried to offer me gluten free bread. Even my coffee order was wrong, the cappuccino with oat milk that I ordered was served with cow milk.

My introduction to the real meaning of Ulster Fry - fantastic place for breakfast / brunch and lovely people looking after you.

Came with my auntie and got French toast with and without the yogurt and berries as well as the granola in the yogurt. I wish I got my French toast with the yogurt and berries because the thick bread with the texture and taste of the yogurt and berries were incredible. Granola with berries was alright but not as good as the French toast. Would definitely come back for breakfast again.

Use it about three times a week, highly recommended, would advise to give it a try.

Delicious, fresh, well cooked and presented breakfasts and good coffee. Staff lovely too, recommended.

Ordered a fry .Got toast with grated cheese sausage and bacon on top of it and salad beans .

Got pancakes with maple syrup, asked for bacon 2 slices, fatty and undercooked, cost £3, 2 teas, total £16. Couldn’t bring myself to order for myself. Other tables around us only having drinks. Will never return to this place which I use to frequent every weekend.

Lovely spot. Great menu selection, including veggie, good service and tasty food. The view of the coast out the window is a nice bonus. Will be my regular haunt when visiting the Port.

3 Kings seems to have lost its way. Once it was a shining light among the coffee shop offerings on the Promenade. Now it serves up over priced food, in ever decreasing portions. The coffee shop itself remains pleasant and relatively quiet but there are other coffee shops on the prom offering similar at much best value for money.

We have been going to this coffee shop since before Covid each Sunday morning for breakfast. We have found in the last year food & cleanliness has deteriorated on a weekly basis. It has now come to the point where sadly we will have to find another establishment to enjoy our Sunday breakfast. The cloth chairs can only be described as filthy and we are constantly having to change cups and cutlery due to them not having been washed properly. The scones are more like pancakes in their shape and to be honest on some days you could break a window with them. We have had to return muffins that we couldn’t cut with a knife due to them being stale.It saddens us to have to write this review as we have become very fond of our Sunday visits but we are not complainers and have bared with things for over six months now and just can’t continue to give our custom anymore.

Review is based on the server alone. Ordered two coffees only to be grunted at that they didn't have the milk we wanted. Then assumed we were sitting in and slammed plates down on the counter and when we said we were taking away they were swiftly removed. Coffees slammed on the table, half empty for the price that we paid and staff was that unapproachable we couldn't even ask for them to be topped up. On top of this the dirty looks and stares were ridiculous to the point that we were outside the shop fixing our coffee lids only to be glared at through the window. I understand Sundays are a busy time at the end of the week but if you can't put on a brave face and do your job well then maybe it isn't the job for you!

Happy to be here!!! Really nice to have food here.. People are really friendly and helpful. Food is really tasty and quality is great. Ambience of the restaurant is exceptional as it is sea facing. We can enjoy a glass of coffee or hot chocolate watching the sea. There is plenty of parking space in the front as well. Thank you so much for the team for giving us such a good experience.. Hoping to see you again.

Lovely coffee shop on the seafront in Portstewart. Staff were very good, when I asked about gluten free options the young lady apologised they didn't have the usual range but went on to recommend a customer favourite. Great service as often the response is "whatever is on that shelf/plate"!

Can't believe that you are serving artificial cream - and charging for it! The general environment, coffee, tea, and scones were very good but serving that ultraprocessed gunk let's you down a bucketful.

Had a great breakfast food was top quality. Service was second to none. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Staff are very friendly & engaging . Premises were clean and display counter well stocked with produce. Coffee was good. I ordered a seasonal turkey toastie which whilst enjoyable, at £8.95 I couldnt help but feel was over priced given size and presentation.

When I go to a cafe for a cup of coffee I expect to enjoy the ambient setting. On several occasions I have been forced to ask for the music to be turned down as it is more foreground than background (my request is complied with only for a track record and then turned back up)! I do not expect to leave these premises with a thumping headache due to the loudness of the music and customers almost need to shout to be heard!. A great way to loose custom!!! This review is still relevant today as my husband asked for the music to be turned down and his request was complied with for one musical track only to be blasted out again!🤬

Popped in for afternoon coffee and cake. Very nice. Can't comment on the atmosphere as it was getting close to closing time and there wasn't many people in there. I can imagine it's busy at peak time though. Good selection of food.

Great counter staff but my kings breakfast was cold when it arrived at the table bacon was very unappetising and sausages weren't great either I was very disappointed although they took my plate away and brought out a fresh breakfast didn't really make up for it don't think I will be back in a hurry

Called in for breakfast when out for a walk, very disappointed. 2 cappuccinos where fine but when the poached eggs on sourdough arrived it was very disappointing. Thin sliced bread and small eggs. I had added 2 sausages at £1.50 each, thinking they would be good quality butchers sausages, but no, really cheap out of a package. Sausage roll wasn’t any better. Poor quality food and overpriced. Won’t be going back anytime soon. And yes it used to be good.

Dreadful cafe now - used to be so much better. Just had coffee and a bun but the coffee is horribly weak and poorly served (slopped all over the saucer and the server's hands all over the cup rim!!) Staff all seem very young and disinterested and very unpleasant - won't be back - lots more choice in Portstewart.

I had paoched eggs with sourdough and bacon, it was delicious and the bacon cooked perfectly at my request as I don't like " crispy" bacon. Only downside, a bit pricey if you have kids, there was 5 of us, perfect for a couple or if you fancy a tasty bite with a view

Went for breakfast this morning… very poor… just another table and ourselves ( 4 adults/2children)….so cafe wasn’t busy at all… have been on numerous occasions for breakfast always so good…, what has happened!!!!… adults all had hot cooked food which was cold and served on cold plates!!!!… basic stuff for any cafe hot food needs warm plates… food quality very poor cheap food being used eg pancakes, sausage, bacon etc but charging big prices… not good enough 3 Kings!!… won’t be back

Haven’t had lunch here for a while - usually just coffee. Always good in the past. Was really disappointing. Specifically asked for soft poached eggs - they were hard. Bacon so overdone it was difficult to cut. Bap was burnt. Cutlery was dirty. Doubt we’ll be back anytime soon.

The best decaf coffee I've had in quite some time. And they not only had vegan lunch options (falafel wraps and vegan sausage roll) but also vegan desserts (brownies and German biscuits). 👍👍👍

Lovely chilled out coffee shop woth a good variety of baked goods and drinks. Can highly recommend the apple and cinnamon muffin or the biscoff rocky road.

Nice wee place we came here around lunch time to find a limited menu but the food was good and the milkshake was delicious

The Best Coffee on the North Coast. A staple now for any trips to the North Coast, the coffee is a perfect combination of smooth and strong but not bitter. A popular spot and often near full but generally always find a table. Haven't been in for a sit down meal but the food looks amazing. Pastries and very nice though limited options for gluten free. Alternative milk options are available.

The setting overlooking portstewart harbour is beautiful and the interior seating is lovely for a coffee with friends or as a couple but that’s about where it ends. The tea was good but the coffee was ‘just ok’ not good enough to return. Ordered raspberry and white chocolate cake and red velvet cake… this was not pleasant. The cake was warm and the red velvet had some sort of sugary cream topping definitely not fresh cream cheese. The raspberry and white chocolate was dense and again a synthetic frosting. It was presented beautifully but was a synthetic raspberry ice cream topping that was used instead of a coulis, again, not good. The bathrooms are nice and clean which is always good as I believe that if the bathroom is neglected what is the kitchen like. All in all, if it’s a cup of tea your after go ahead, if you’re a coffee drinker or after a sweet treat try elsewhere.

Extremely overpriced & all the items shown on the "all day" menu weren't available. £9.25 for a small sandwich which was no more than 4 bites along with an excuse for some salad on the side.

I haven't been in 3 kings for a number of years and when I read some of the reviews I eondered about my decision to.go. But I'm glad I went. Love the way the place iss decorated now. The guy that served me this morning was very chatty and pleasant. Food was great as I remembered. Definitely would go back again.

I have been going to Three Kings for years. Sadly in recent times my experiences has not been so good. The quality of the food and the staff seems to be going downhill and the recent prices rises are extortionate. My usual breakfast choice with coffee has gone up 20% this last month, no doubt just in time to maximise income from summer visitors.

Had 2 Americana and 2 scones. Up to last week this cost £9.50. On Sunday 2 July the price had gone up to £12.20!! How do you justify this increase?

Called into this cafe on Saturday as we fancied a salad and found quite a few good looking salad bowl options on offer. I ordered the pulled honey ham and was shocked when the bowl was set down. To be fair, it was quite a large bowl but the main ingredient was a pile of bitter tough leaves. The lovely pulled ham i was expecting was 1 very thin slice of packet ham, chopped into small squares with some honey poured on it. Very disappointing. The rest of the salad had small amounts of tomato, sweetcorn, beetroot, and a few slimey peppers out of a jar. There was no coleslaw or not even a drop of mayo, making the whole thing so dry and not very appetising. The salad was advertised as coming with sour dough bread. We had to ask for that as it didnt come. When it did come, it was a tiny finger size slice of toasted sourdough and no butter. Very disappointing expensive lunch. This was my first visit, so i dont know what the other food is like, but avoid the salad, bowls, definitely not as advertised.

The seats next the window looking out to the harbour are very nice. Food was good. The young lady serving us seemed to want to be somewhere else?

Dogs not allowed inside despite being listed as dog friendly. On a wet chilly day, sitting at a table outside was not an option. Not impressed.

We both ordered two salads bowls as advertised with fresh local ingredients. Both were very poor. Both salads came with bitter lettuce, cherry tomatoes and thick chunks of red onion. That’s we’re the ‘local fresh ingredients’ stopped. The remaining salad items were oil covered gherkins, peppers and sun dried tomatoes. All of these ‘fresh local ingredients’ straight from a ‘fresh local jar’ As for the falafels, they are completely tasteless. Four pathetic damp balls of something, certainly not falafels. The chicken salad again came with a pitifully small portion of sliced chicken possibly from the ‘fresh local petrol station’ packet. Cleverly the salad items that are on display are not any of the items that come with the salad bowl. When we asked for a change of salad items to the mixed salad portions of mixed beans, pasta salad, potato salad and coleslaw we were told ‘no, what you have is how we’re told to serve it’. Superb. All in all a mostly uneatable and very unappetising lunch due to very poor ingredients. I fear for the ‘local fresh food’ if this is what it’s actually like.

Presentation of coffee is poor. When I order a cortado anywhere else in Portstewart I get some nice artwork on it but not here. Same goes for cappuccinos. Why do you think it’s ok to charge the same big price for your coffees yet serve them up without any style or art on them? Do you think the public don’t really care about that? I can tell you it’s very noticeable. I would definitely suggest you invest in a barista. Apart from the coffee presentation the cafe is a very pleasant place to sit and relax with lots of room between tables.

I went here with some of my dearest friends to be greeted with amazing customer service i got a flat white on my first time here and it was very nice and a great temperature.The inner decor is very good and a particular worker named Taylor was excellent and really friendly.I went later again and was less impressed by their strawberry cupcake milkshake. for £3.95 it’s more of a medium size than a large and it tastes very watered down but overall great place to go with friends and catch up over a coffee.

I came to this wee coffee shop expecting a nice chill experience and that is what I got ! The cappuccino I purchased for a good price took me away it was very good , I bought a peanut butter milkshake and I was a little disappointed it was very pricey and watered down although there was one major thing that made the experience 10x better. This boy that was on shift I had to stop and ask his name , Taylor , he was so lovely and provided me and my boys a lovely experience he was so kind and brave and talked in a very nice tone got us our cutlery and butter and some sugar for the coffee , he smelled rlly good also and looked rlly presentable I honestly think he deserves a pay rise due to his spectacular display! Overall I was a little disappointed with the milkshake although that boy made it a day to remember.

I took my eldest granddaughter here for her first time and we both had a breakfast which of course is their usual good standard. Just miss the one in Coleraine 😥 the scrambled eggs were beautiful. In fact my granddaughter wants a repeat performance 😍

What service didn't get the soup my wife ordered. After some time my wife went to the desk to ask and eventually a waitress said she hadn't charged for the soup!!!!

We where trying to order dairy free food. sandwiches are premade but we asked if they could make a sandwich dairy free.(staff very unfriendly) they wouldn't check any ingredients and said the bread probably has this or that wouldn't actually check for us. Kept saying about eggs being in the bread and all they could offer was gluten-free bread. The vegan brownies looked nice but the rudeness of staff has put me off ever coming to this place again.

Visit the 3kings regularly but haven’t been in a few months… and it has gone so down hill! My husband and I visited today and ordered our usual of a kings breakfast and eggs Benedict. And everything was just not like it used to be....

when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by what was on offer and that it was reasonably priced. I ordered poached eggs on toasted and paid an extra £1.50 to add bacon alongside a smoothie which was £3.50. My friend ordered pancakes and extra sausages...

Mediocre. Our sandwiches had very little meat and not much flavour.

Heartily recommend the raspberry ruffles and cappuccino. Great combination.

Lovely coffee and tea. Amazing traybakes and cake. Excellent choice of hot food but we didn't have any so can't comment on quality but it certainly looks good. Very relaxes and friendly atmosphere. We got lucky and got the seats at the window to watch the world go by as we relaxed with our lovely coffees and cake.
