2nd Girlfriend Mediterranean Restaurant in Sheffield

Delicious food and a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere! Went with friends on a Tuesday evening, could tell a lot of love went into the food and running the restaurant. Left full and very happy!

Our 5th visit. After the 4th visit we said that we wouldn’t return due to the poor service. We went as it was for a friends birthday meal. It was absolutely abysmal service, shocking! I wish that I could say the food was awful but it was good. Just one of many things……We were told “if you don’t want a dessert, can you finish your drinks at the bar?” We had literally just swallowed our mains (plates still on the table) and just received our bottle of wine that we’d ordered before the meal. There were 13 of us and had arrived on time and been sat for 1 hour 28 mins when we were told this. We asked for a dessert menu and it was shouted back across the table what desserts were on offer. We weren’t allowed to even peruse the menu. We won’t be returning. What a shame. Shocking way to treat customers.

Went for an evening meal with my partner this evening. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. Lovely family run restaurant with a great atmosphere and freshly cooked authentic Italian food. Highly recommended and we will be back.

We had starters and mains, the starters were lovely, tasty and plenty of it, but for mains we ordered 2 fillet rossini off the specials board with nothing said except how did we want them cooking. When the waitress came to take our starter plates away she threw in casually that the steak was sirloin not fillet. I was very doubtful as I usually only eat fillet steak but she brushed away my concern saying "oh its lovely, its so good, you will love it". When it came my steak was tough and so chewy that I left over half of it. When I was asked if everything was alright I said that I was very disapointed with the steak as it was tough and chewy and I had left most of it. She appologised then brought the bill, nothing had been deducted from the price of the fillet steak even though it had been substituted with a lower grade, and it had been basically inedible. The specials board was not altered, it still offered fillet rossini, didn't mention sirloin. I had high hopes for this place, if it had been decent we would have come regularly and brought friends, but now I would never eat here again.

Would never come again. Ordered a chicken rissoto which came without the chicken, they also had the menu on the board that was from the previous owners.

Practically flawless. Had the arancini for starters. Basically fried rice balls with cheese and ham inside could have gladly had like 6 more. Came with a salad with dressing and a bolognese sauce was excellent. Had lasagna that came in a sauce with chips and that was great as well. Also had a chocolate fudge cake that had a sauce and cream with it. Something like butterscotch I think in the cake and genuinely one of the best cakes I've ever had. I have severe food allergies and that was dealt with brilliantly. Reasonably priced as well. One of the best meals I've had out in a very, very long time. Definitely worth a look.

Excellent food and service. We were a party of four and were serenaded by the owner who sang and played the guitar. The staff were attentive and the service was fab. We will definitely visit again.

Went here the other week with my second girlfriend. Probably won’t be bringing the other one. Not a bad meal, but not a stellar date spot either. Restaurant was dead although was a Tuesday night after they’d reopened from their holidays. We were the only couple in there bless ‘em. Probably much better when it’s full. Food was okay. Steak cooked nicely and peppercorn sauce was delicious !!! However, if you believe the menu which says those chips are “homemade”, then you want your head checking. Also soft as owt. Needed another go in the fryer. The risotto was ropey. Bland and very oily perhaps? Can’t really remember all that well. Had been for a few jars beforehand…

This is my 2nd time at 2nd girlfriend (😁) and I have come away looking forward to making my next booking. The food is excellent, such good quality, and the service is so welcoming. The chef came out to ensure we enjoyed our meal and the complementary limoncello to finish was the perfect ending to a really pleasant evening.

Had a great night with lovely food and staff. The owner is a personality for sure. Will be back .

Really conflicted on this one. There was a bit of delay with the food, and the sauce for my Chicken dish was quite salty. However, the staff were friendly and attentive and the chef was happy to make a new dish which was delicious. It was just one of those days. But will definitely return again.

A perfect experience. The meals were delicious and prepared in a matter of minutes, the service was impeccable from both waiting staff and management, and the whole experience was a very welcoming one. I’ll be coming back weekly! Worth travelling to if you’re in any part of Sheffield or surrounding areas - best Italian food I’ve tasted!

What an appalling evening. Service was non existent. Wrong orders, small portions, tepid undercooked vegetables. And a big reluctance to reduce the bill.

Best meal we've had in Sheffield. Starters, mains, and desserts were all reasonably priced, quality was fantastic, portion sizes were spot on, and presentation was great. Fillet steak was cooked spot on and the size was larger than we have had elsewhere. The host was engaging throughout the night, we will definitely be back!

Our first visit the place was beautiful, and the food was fantastic. The staff was welcome and the man who look after us all night was lovely, I had forgotten his name sorry, but he couldn't do enough for us. We can't wait to return to try the dessert as there was a problem so we miss out. It didn't spoil our night 🤩

This was our first visit. First impressions was what a lovely place, even though a little cold, temperature wise. First night for the young waitress so she was learning however a very nice young lady. The Main host was a nice Italian?Man who had a lovely welcoming manner. Service was a little slow and we were served out of turn ie after a group of 4 that came in after us. All in all a nice evening and we would probably go again..

Easy to find as right beside the tram stop. Amazing food with great portion. It would be perfect if they have offered a few more vegetarian options in the menu, but nonetheless, a great dinner!

We went for my mums 70th last night, food was perfect, drinks were reasonable, and service was spot on. No complaints. We also had a little sing song with the Host. A great Birthday meal! would recommend/have recommended to several people already! Thanks! We parked at the rear of Rawson springs outside the La Plata social club, and walked through the small alley. Free parking after 6.30pm. bonus!

What a delight to finally find a restaurant that ticks all the boxes, great ambiance, friendly and courteous staff, excellent food and exceptional value for money. I would highly recommend and will definitely be returning to be spoilt some more . 10 out of 10.

Group of 10 of us came and every single dish was beautiful, all food came out at the same time so people weren’t left without, and every dish was to a superb standard. Would highly reccomend and also found the prices very reasonable for the quality of food that was served

Visited this evening for a joint birthday meal. The food , service and atmosphere was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful . And we even got a candle in our deserts, wonderful. Looking forward to future meals there

All i can say about 2nd girlfriend, is it absolutely fantastic. If you won't brilliant food, good friendly staff, and entertainment, then don't look any further because this is the place. A big thank you to all the people that work at 2nd girlfriend 💖 i had the best birthday ever. X

Excellent food on New Year's Eve ruined by a drunk and loud family at 6pm and a live karaoke!? The family were screaming and singing when the rest of the room were trying to enjoy the excellent food. Waiter was friendly and attentive when we sat down, but completely got distracted with the microphone ten minutes in and this annoying and drunk family. I thought this was a restaurant not a bar? I would say the family were to blame but the owner was singing on the microphone too and laughing with them. Not what we were expecting for an Italian restaurant with such high reviews... There were a few couples also that were not bothered about this annoying family and the live singing. Even when they did not take over the sound system the playlist was very loud. You could barely hear eachother. Which I assume is like that every night? I'd love to come back, but just for the food. As it tasted great and the calzone was amazing. The atmosphere ruined what could've been a nice evening. We left quickly after finishing eating.

A warm welcome, friendly service beautiful food and feels quite homily. For me I find it a little on the expensive side but they say you get what you pay for. Not the best for draught beers or larger. Overall a nice little place with wonderful food

Been here 2 or 3 times now. Not been disappointed. Tried a pasta dish on my last visit, was given a choice of pastas...loved it!... very good flavours. They didn't have a bottle of the wine I originally wanted from the menu, but offered an alternative at the same price...which was very good...and, bonus, no headache the following morning! I prefer this restaurant to some other Italian restaurants in the city centre... better on several levels. I could bang on about the food, the relative cleanliness of the loos, the friendliness of the staff etc. but the best compliment I could give is to say you should try it out for yourself... hope it delivers as well for you as it does for me.

Absolutely gorgeous. We were a table of six celebrating a birthday. We all had different meals and every meal was delicious and we'll presented. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. We will return, can't praise it enough.

We went for the first time on Saturday as a party of 6 for my brother in laws birthday, absolutely fantastic, the food was gorgeous and the singing waiter was so entertaining, would definitely recommend 👌

I will definitely be recommending this place!! The food was so nice and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The singing waiter got everybody involved, which created a lovely atmosphere!!! This is my second time at this restaurant and definitely won't be my last.

Thought we would try this place on the strength of all the reviews on here. Happy to say they were right. It's like walking into an Italian family's home. The atmosphere is fantastic, helped in no small measure by the singing waiter who keeps picking up his guitar ! Everyone in there had a huge smile , which I think sums this Restaurant up. The added bonus is the food , which is equally superb. My only concern, is it might be hard to book a table if they keep this up!

Family run restaurant with great menu. Very generous portions! Superb risotto! Good choice of dishes including fish. I initially hesitated because of the weird name but recommend it for its food!

Absolutely fantastic experience! The gentleman running the restaurant was very pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. The food was cooked perfectly, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will certainly be coming back. The decor and cleanliness of the restaurant was also fantastic.

Very friendly hosts but the food was a disappointment. I was hoping for much more looking at the previous reviews but it wasn't to be. Maybe it was because it was busy but you should still be served food that is thoroughly cooked.

Absolute masterpiece Garlic mushroom starter the black bean sauce in the salad was a different twist very nice Lasagne was simple but in a rich sauce very nice chips with it Chocolate fudge pudding was outstanding sauce was beautiful About 25 a head without drinks well worth it one of the best meals I've ever eaten Quick edit also younger brother has severe fish and nut allergies everything was fine regarding it , chips are cooked separate and allergies are made clear to kitchen as well

What a little gem of a place this is. Good menu choice with regular stuff and specials other board. Great food......generous portions and very friendly service. My husband and and I chose the same dessert which unfortunately we didn't like but the staff were very apologetic and offered to wave the cost. Can't say fairer than that. Would recommend to give it a try.

The place is very busy and rightly so. They fit us in at short notice. Decent prices. Friendly staff and food was good too. We had the king prawns in chilli and garlic, garlic bread with cheese and tomato, salmon pasta and chicken with peppercorn sauce. In my honest opinion better than the other Italians in S6.

Quite possibly the best mussels and calzone carne I have ever eaten, simply superb. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere with an excellent choice of music. It would have been nice if there was a chardonnay or malbec on the wine list, but the Barbera was very good. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

The food was amazing. There was a slight wait on the food but the waiting staff and floor manager were so lovely and thoughtful (we didn't even notice the delay but got a free bottle of red wine). There was live music too. And all the staff sang me Happy Birthday. A very memorable evening. Would definitely recommend. Only reason but giving it a 4 star was the because the menu is very concise there was a limited choice for veg/pescetarian food (although the salmon was tasty). Also relatively short wine list (my friend loves wine).

Me and my wife went to this lovely very welcoming restaurant on a Tuesday night the food was delicious the lamb chops main were delightful we will definitely be going again next time with friends and family

Having read the fantastic reviews in the star and telling everyone to try this fantastic restaurant we arrived for our booking at 8 o'clock on mad Friday only to be told that they couldn't find our reservation . After waiting 15 minutes we decided to leave with no real apologies or incentive to stay apart from a free bottle of beer , while the public are getting a bad press for not turning up for their bookings maybe the restraunts are equally to blame by edging their bets and double booking just to be on the safe side which I believe is a poor showing , alas we ended up in the taste of India for a curry which was delicious ! Having looked forward to going to the 2nd girlfriend for over a month I was disappointed to say the least .

Fantastic food and fantastic staff loved it

Visited recently having read glowing reviews. The meal was fantastic. Started with calamari, crispy and tender with a lovely salad. Main was chicken with a Diane sauce, really tasty and succulent served with vegetables and potatoes perfectly cooked. No room for a dessert.

I wanted somewhere local to take my daughter for her birthday and I'd read a lot of good reviews about this particular place. I have to say it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Although bijou inside it is clean,well presented, well set out and cosy. My starter (Antipasto platter) was well presented and delicious. My main course Scallops and Risotto was to die for....the Scallops were perfectly cooked and tasted fresh as did the flavoursome Risotto. I would definitely recommend that you try it for yourself.

I don’t ever do I review. But this guy deserves A review. We arrived.During our starters the table at the other side of us was so rowdy he asked us if we would like to move. We moved and he spent the whole night making sure everything we had was perfect. What amazing hospitality. Definitely would recommend. And apart from that the food was absolutely delicious. ❤️

We have visited twice in the last couple of weeks. The atmosphere is lovely, the facilities are very clean, and all the staff very friendly and welcoming. The food is interesting and plentiful - we had to go back to try the puddings as we were too full to sample them on our first visit. A few more vegetarian options would be appreciated. We will definitely be returning soon.

Great everything as in everything!

We went to 2nd Girlfriend tonight (Friday 26th November) for the 1st time since it opened. What a gem of a place. We were greeted and shown to our table as if we were vip's. The menu is varied and absolutely delicious. This is our new "go to" place and we're looking forward to working our way through the menu.

Delicious fresh food. Generous portions. Food was so good we ended up getting a 3 course meal. Chris is a delight also!

We received one of the warmest welcomes ever at 2nd girlfriend. No sooner had we arrived at the front door when the owner greeted us. We were shown to our table straight away and we were immediately impressed with the room lay out and decor. As well as the standard menu we each received there was a selection of both starter and main course dishes on the specials board. All of which were passionately described to us by the owner. For our drink we decided to have the house Merlot. It must have been OK as we had another one. As a starter we chose the antipasto off the specials board. Arriving individually on bread boards it was very well presented. The cured meats were pretty generous in quantity and the salami was very flavoursome. Our main meal was once again selected from the specials board. Monkfish with shrimp on a bed of linguine smothered in a very tasty and velvety sauce. Desserts were a portion of tiramisu and one of chocolate fudge cake. Again both portions were more than ample. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable dining experience.

By far the best Italian/Mediterranean restaurant in Sheffield. Stunning food, stunning service.. really is worth the visit.

My boyfriend and I were worried at first that this gorgeous restaurant would be too fancy for us (we don’t often go out for such extravagant meals) but the atmosphere was so welcoming and the staff so friendly and funny we very quickly felt at ease. I don’t ever order full 3 courses but both my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the portions were perfect, filling but not bloating. I hold this restaurant in nothing but high regards and will remember my evening very fondly. I couldn’t recommend 2nd girlfriend enough; if you want to try something new or simply want a lovely evening meal then this is the place.

Delicious Italian food and friendly, attentive service.

Nice, friendly staff and a lovely menu. The food was cooked beautifully and we all really enjoyed it and said we would definitely go again. We adored the mussels in the tagliatelle Di Mare and would really love to see these as a starter and a main with bread or chips. Thank you for a fabulous time :)

We visited Thursday and were very impressed with the quality of the food and the excellent service we received. We had king prawns and olives and bread for starters. For mains we had sea bass which was cooked perfectly and tagliatelle in a creamy sauce. All delicious
