200 Degrees Coffee Shop & Barista School in Cardiff

really cute place to study or catch up with friends over a coffee. came to sit and do some work for a few hours and the coffee was delicious. lovely atmosphere with lots of tables

We were in Cardiff city centre early, ahead of the Wales v Ireland match (22.02.25) and this my son's 'go to' coffee shop when he's back in South Wales (he lives in Bristol) but I'd never been there before. 2 coffees and a couples of pastries bought. The Spanish latte (contains condensed milk and I could really taste it. Used to have sandwiches made with the stuff, back in the early 70's 😋) is highly recommended.

National chain. Espresso was fine. I had 3 issues with this location: 1. WiFi is terribly slow. Speed test measured 2Mbps down/0.7 up. I wouldn't have made a purchase here if I knew I was just going to have to find another coffee shop to work at. 2. Rude worker. 3. Hypocritical. They claim: 'Due to allergy reasons, only food and drinks bought at this store can be consumed here'. However, they allow/encourage dogs inside; staff will bring over pet water bowls. Pet dander is of course a common allergen - and one that goes airborne even more easily than nuts, products of which they also sell here. Just say that you're a business, and that you don't want other businesses' products used in place of your own; this is a perfectly standard policy. Don't try to frame it as faux compassion; that's just insulting to your customers' intelligence.

The coffee shop doesn’t accept cash payment! I would consider avoiding it going forward as this business simply doesn’t cater to customers’ needs, digital access issues, payment card damage, you’re still expected to pay by card and whatever inconvenience that follows. I would report to the Payment Choice Alliance

A great coffee shop on Queens Street reasonably priced, good service and good selection of cakes etc. although I only had a cup of tea this time. Easy access straight from the street, no steps to negotiate. Free WiFi inside which people use (students mostly). I love the sitting room feel at the back of the shop with a fireplace and fake fire (see photos).

One of my go-to cafes whenever I’m in the mood to study at a cafe. The matcha is amazing and every staff member who has served me are kind and attentive! Would recommend for any student looking for a laid-back, welcoming environment

We didn't have food but I've used that for the coffee. Service was fabulous and considering the red weather warning had only just finished the team were all there and ready to help.

Great atmosphere and great coffee. Lots of people come here to work. Can get very busy at midday - people struggling to find a seat. Staff were excellent!

My go-to place for coffee in Cardiff City Centre. I always go for the Spanish Lattes and Mochas and every coffee is as good as the previous one. Occasionally, I go for sandwiches which are also really good! The atmosphere is work/study-friendly as well, it’s not too dark but not too bright either so your eyes feel comfortable while looking at your screen. Last but not least, the service provided by the staff is 10/10. They are friendly and the customer service is amazing! Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a cozy place to caffeinate and work in or if you’re just craving a good coffee.

The vibe is perfect for students looking for a quiet study spot, with great coffee, delicious food, and a cozy setting. My favourite spot has a lovely town view - ideal for relaxing with family or friends over coffee. Highly recommend!

Always enjoyed a great experience here . Have been coming here a while, the food is really good and the staff are always friendly. I would recommend the pecan tart which I had last week. Definitely recommend the place to friends too

I had a terrible experience at 200 Degree Cafe in Cardiff today. After waiting quite a while for my friends, I finally decided to place my order after being told by the staff as we were using the wifi to do our work. The staff member, who had a tall, emo look with a ponytail and heavy black eyeliner, was incredibly rude. She snapped at us to order, making it clear she didn’t care about our wait. When we got our drinks, they handed us a smoothie with two straws, but then, out of nowhere, she came back about five minutes later, barely looking at us and just casually said we needed to order another drink as she was walking away. It felt completely dismissive and unprofessional. Why would we need two drinks when they gave us a big smoothie with two straws? And we also made it clear we’d order more once our friends had arrived? When I tried to address the rude service, she just turned and walked off without a word. The whole interaction was frustrating and made us feel unwelcome. I won’t be returning to this cafe.

A cozy haven serving aromatic brews, delectable treats, and warm hospitality. Friendly staff, lovely place. We ordered a V60, which was excellent. An unforgettable coffee experience, highly recommended for you!

Popped in to grab a drink before our drive home to takeaway and we can highly rate the vanilla cappuccino and spiced pumpkin latte. I've visited the Birmingham branch on colmore row and I highly recommended that one and I can do the same here. Quality and service at the fore front of the business and as a customer that's all you want.

What an absolute treat of a cafe in Cardiff! The staff were lovely and served excellent coffee, the cheese croissants are amazing too. It looks like every home worker and student has discovered this place as its full of people working on their laptops, so it seems like a great for getting stuff done. Weirdly on both times we visited, the toilet paper in the bathroom seems to have gone missing very strange!

Great coffee shop they offer great customer service, a good range of hot and cold snacks are available, and the coffee is freshly ground, the seating area inside offers quirky interior if you smoke there is a cool smoking area outside, they do offer table service 😋

Nice decoration coffee in the middle of the town. Staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. Americano was ok it was a bit light for me. It might their coffee beans roasting as they make their own roast.

I tried a house special cafe affogato with caramel and was pleasantly surprised. I am definitely hooked and am coming back for another affogato when next in town. I haven't tried the food yet but it looks yummy and the staff are very helpful and friendly

Great coffee, but they need to work on their Cortado game. A cortado or 'short coffee' should basically be a shot of espresso and steamed milk, but it should be like a SLIGHTLY stronger latte, not a ton of espresso with a milk top like they serve here. You're going to give someone a heart attack.

Thought of trying out this place for coffee. We got flat white, asked for extra hot, but was cold. A nice sitting outside. Located on Queen street.

Coffee is good but the hygiene in this place has been a bit disappointing in the last few months; the water glasses are often dirty with bits of food stuck to them, and same with the cutlery and coffee cups which is quite off-putting.

I love a good espresso, and this place has a good espresso 💕 It can get really busy as it is also a great place to work on a laptop, so finding a free table can be tricky!

Lunchtime today, 9/424 I went in and asked for a latte. Told there was a 15 to 20 min wait because of some staff meeting. Went down the road to Costa instead, had a very nice latte and toastie. I can't see 200 degrees surviving with this attitude in such a competitive market.

I picked out a toastie from the counter and it looked tasty but when it was actually toasted, it looked awful, it looked liked it had been heated not toasted, it was all squashed and really bland 😞 I was very disappointed and would recommend you don’t offer toasted sandwiches. The tea was lovely, staff were very nice and the ambience was good.

Hi, I’ve forgotten my bag in the shop on the 16/03/2024, and it is absolutely impossible to contact the shop. I have been trying to call them all day yesterday and today but no answers. Could anyone tell me how to contact this shop without doing 3h of train ? Thank you.

I love this place, on a quiet day it’s great, but occasionally they’ll stop sit-in customers with mugs and put everything in disposable cups? Terrible for the environment and feels like they’re trying to get you to leave as soon as possible.

A lovely, friendly coffee shop with a fantastic atmosphere. Can get busy during the day on weekends, but worth calling in for the delicious coffee. They also do take out if you're in a hurry. I would highly recommend 200 degrees on the strength of the coffee alone, but the staff add a level of welcome that is second to none. Consistently excellent!

I very much enjoyed my visit, lovely coffee, nice and friendly staff, nice lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. The price was not too bad. I would have preferred a bit more space between the smaller tables. Overall I'd say it's one of the best places I've had coffee in Cardiff. Definitely worth a visit.

That’s was an amazing place couple of years ago to meet with friends or go to work for couple of hours hawing a great cup of coffee 😊 The great location in central of Cardiff surrounded by plenty of other shopping moles and cafes.

Always found this place enjoyable. Someone moaned about paper cups, that's something I don't like but I wouldn't knock points off. Food was good as was the cakes. The Bears.

Ok coffee shop but doesn't take cash. They need to review that is it is discriminatory and need to think about people that like to pay in cash or can only pay in cash. Some Gluten free cakes available which can be handy. Sort out the cash and I would come more often.

Excellent service despite the queues from Cardiff Half marathon today! New management has really upped the game. Friendly and helpful staff who are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the coffees. Food was delicious as was our drinks! Really quick and friendly service our drinks and cakes were brought over to our table with a smile. Will definitely be returning soon :) Too good to go bag bought- croissant, brioche breakfast bap, muffin, sausage bap. £3 excellent value!

Unfortunately we had to have take away cups as they were short staffed. Not a great experience to enjoy a matcha. The matcha was extremely bitter tasting with strong after taste. Wasn’t nice at all. My girls had a vanilla milkshake which was awful too. Wasn’t cold enough. Tasted like a cheap sugary syrup poured into milk. Very basic milkshake for £4 in which I returned and exchanged for a coke. Don’t be fooled to this is a classy coffee shop. Very poor sorry .

I usually come here because is cosy to work with the laptop and have a very good blend. Today I was very undicided on what to have, but the batista Sophie made me an amazing late with the swan. Always friendly and welcoming staff! Love it 🥰 Thank you!

Rubbish service and remarkably unfriendly staff. I ordered via table service and ordered a milkshake where i was prompted to choose a milk option by the app, which i did. I was then met by a lady with short hair and glasses telling me i cant choose my milk because milkshakes are pre-made in packs - i was fine with this, but the way i was spoken to made it seem like i went out of my way to be difficult when i was simply doing what i had to do to place the order. When the same lady returned with the drink, she put it down firmly and said “and when it gets busy, I’m going to move you” which i thought was quite rude. I was alone sat at a table for four but the tables are relatively small in there and i was using it as a place to revise so needed space for my laptop and papers. I would’ve had no trouble moving, but again i was spoken to rather rudely. This was also about 10am and it was really empty, so i thought the comment was unnecessary. Even when i left, it was not busy. The gist - the lady serving with glasses is really rude and unpleasant.

I really do like this place and would give it five stars, but I've noticed multiple times that the same employee uses their bare hands to grab food from the case, such as a sandwich without any wrapping on it. It just seems a bit unsanitary and offputting.

What a wonderful coffee shop. Lovely chilled out vibe, excellent coffee, and perfect for people with kids. Ryan was especially good with my 4 year old , and just an all - round lovely chap !

Third and last visit. Had two lovely cups of dry cappuccino coffee served as requested on previous visits. Today I had a coffee swimming in milk,not a cappuccino,returned and explained again that I wanted a cappuccino not a coffee swimming in milk. Tall guy behind the coffee machine said you want a coffee with lots of foam. YES PLEASE. Okay I will fetch it over.Lady with dark hair and glasses brought the coffee over. That’s the best we can do and that’s it. Very sharp reply. Swimming in milk again not a cappuccino. Suggest you retrain the person making the coffee. Lady behind the till needs to learn customer service.

This place shouldn't advertise on the "Too Good to Go App" if their staff are going to be nasty, belittle, and be rude to people asking a simple question. I went in today, 19 March 2023, to ask whether the contents were vegetarian. A simple "No!" or "We are not sure." would have sufficed, but a very rude lady with short salt and pepper hair and glasses started talking very loudly and rudely and embarrassed me in front of all the customers. She shouted "YOU DO NOOOTTTTTTT GET TO CHOSE!!!!" and was really angry and annoyed. She kept shouting for 20-30 seconds and then turned her back towards me and walked off. Honestly, stop advertising on the app if you treat people who buy this food as beggars and think it's OK to be nasty and scold them.

staff were rude when I tried to pay by cash (they only accept card) and also the coffee was cold and the cup seemed it was not washed. not a good experience. I guess it was not their day.

Excellent addition to Queen Street. The service here was so friendly. Bacon ciabatta was delicious. Salty bacon and soft bread Latte was rich and smooth. Lots of indoor seating and some outdoor too. Highly recommended
