Cinnamon bun was the classic type, with very strong cinnamon spread so that was nice Chocolate babka was very crispy on the exterior Salted caramel brownie stunned, the fudgey texture is perfect and that's coming from someone who loves brownies

The best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted and they're vegan.

I truly love bakery 101. Never disappointed. The occasional savoury option is always fab, would love there to be few more savoury choices.

This produce is excellent 👏 The tomato, black olive tapenade, basil foccacia was delicious 😋 - the base so fluffy, the topping so flavoursome. The rhubarb struesel is equally yummy 👍

Lovely vibe, very modern cool fast card machine and more importantly some of the best cookies I’ve ever had. Such a good mix of crunch and chew, nearly turned round and went back for another one immediately

101 Bakery exudes joy and festivity. That much is clear from their posts and the interior of the shop. Every item is baked with care and attention. If you are in need of cake, 101 is one of the best places to get a slice or even a whole (pre ordered). The 101 team are lovely and clearly passionate about cakes, frosting and baking. It must be noted that they do pizza events on occasions.

Prices aren’t great but not outrageous. Food was nice but nothing special

Bad customer experience, lazy, refused to cut the focaccia in half because she couldn’t be bothered to get a chopping board. Odd behaviour.

Ordered cinnamon bun and something strawberry pastry (?) forgot the name - It’s takeaway only, I thought there were some spaces for dining in - The cinnamon bun is overrated.. but still good - The something strawberry pastry was perfect, would die for it (sweet and fruitiness melted in my mouth)

101 bakery supplied the most spectacular and delicious wedding cake for our recent wedding! The team were wonderful to communicate with on the run up to the wedding and helped to formulate the most special, seasonal flavours for all the layers. On the day the cake was delivered to our venue and decorated to look fabulous! 101 bakery is definitely a must for anyone wanting a delicious and beautiful wedding cake!

This place is an amazing find and recommended by the lovely people at Fortitude Coffee Newington, as I asked if they had Cinnamon Buns. Since that day, I've been multiple times, always super friendly staff and an amazing selection of sweet and savoury treats. I've not tried the pizza or soft serve yet, but it's on the list. Love this place and hand down the best Cinnamon Buns in Edinburgh.

left five minutes ago and snuck a quick bite on the bus, not expecting the complete delight and ravenous spirit that would overcome me with a single forkful of the guinness cake (3.95). I can’t open the box again to take a picture because it would be a chocolate massacre—it’s half gone already—but trust me when I say that it’s beautiful, divine, fueg, etc. I got a brownie as well, intended for tomorrow, but i suspect it will not survive to another sunrise. note there is no seating and they’re card only.

I rate them highly because I love their products. But I went there today, walked 30 minutes, took a break from work to get a cinnamon roll (that shows how good they are), only to find that they were closed today. I checked before I came. Please can you update your page when you close to avoid this happening again. I unfortunately wasted time but more importantly was super disappointed to find the door closed. Other than that, strongly recommend

A great bakery in Newington - the cinnamon buns are amazing! It’s almost impossible to choose from their selection of cakes and very reasonably priced. I’ve also been lucky enough to get birthday cakes from their in the past and the flavours are incredible! 🫐 🎂

The quality of the ingredients here is second to none. Rosanna makes birthday cakes for my whole family and everyone agrees they are the best they have ever had. Proper butter icing... what's not to love? She also kindly donated some of her superb salted choc brownies to our local RDA charity, they were sold out immediately! I love this local business which supports local charities, 10/10.

Be careful. They might ask if you want extra glaze, and like some spell has been cast, you will agree. Then you will stick to everything for the rest of the day, but it will be worth it for a cinnamon bun.

101 bakery is a sight of pilgrimage for me! Defo the best bakery in the southside of Edinburgh (maybe even the whole of Edinburgh!!). Genuinely I am obsessed. The Focaccia flavours they do are unbelievably good (I had a garlic brussel spout and cranberry one today which has really got me in the festive spirit!). All the cakes and treats are always delish and the chocolate orange brioche I had earlier is really helping me write a big fat essay so thank you for that! Also everyone who works there is the loveliest! Big big fan!! If you are in Edinburgh you HAVE to visit!

Been here a couple of times for a snack. Bakery is small but nice. Open kitchen which I love. Staff are super friendly and helpful. All treats we ordered were lovely. Most notably the brownie and the cinnamon bun were our favourite. I really like it how they seem to bake different treats each time but they always have their staples.

101 Bakery did the cakes for our wedding. They were so delicious and absolutely beautiful! Would really recommend for any wedding or celebration! Rosanna and the team were fabulous to work with and let us have so much creativity with the flavour choices!

Straddles the intersection of cakes that have the home cooked love but also the professional skills. Crazy good cinnamon roll, but it's vegan, dammmn, did not see that coming. Also a very nice lady who works in there and cheered my daughter up after her swimming was cancelled.

They do not miss here! Everything I have gotten there has been stunning!

Simply the best cookies and cakes in town.

We went to 101 for a custom order after seeing their amazing, retro cakes. We were very flexible on flavour and decorations and the end result looked great (tasted ok). The only issue we had was actually getting in touch with anyone/getting confirmation. We also felt like a burden when we went to collect the cake. I appreciate the shop is the main business but if you don’t want to do custom orders, just don’t do them.

Big, big fan of their cinnamon buns, as well as their focaccia. Nice range of delicious baked goods to try, which change seasonally! Shoutout to their banana and white chocolate cookie too - the perfect level of gooeyness and flavour.

This place is a gem in Edinburgh. I visited there many times. They have different kinds of things every time. Make sure you try their cinnamon roll. Their instagram is always lovely as well

I've visited a few times and have always been blown away by the cake offerings the only problem is choosing just one! They have a warm friendly team (including the gorgeous shop dog!) A stand out of today's visit was that the queue was out the door, (not a negative- it's a very small and intimate unit) but dealt with swiftly and charmingly. Everyone infront of me were on first name terms with the staff and it was so nice to see the community this little bakery has formed in the area.

Rosanna and the team made our wedding cake and it was not only beautiful but tasted absolutely incredible. We shared it with friends and family and the feedback was the same from everyone, delicious! The remaining few slices came with us on our honeymoon and was a great way to continue the celebration. We will be back soon for some other lovely treats.

Great local bakery! Delicious cakes, cookies, crownies, and focaccia. I recently ordered my birthday cake from here and all of my friends said it was the best cake they'd eaten in a very long time! Rosanna was very friendly and accommodating with my slightly unconventional flavour request (chocolate hazelnut banana). Will definitely be ordering more cakes from 101 Bakery in the future!

Once you enter, you’re welcomed by a sweet delicious smell. The cinnamon bun was crazy good!!! The best one I’ve had in Edinburgh so far. It’s very light and soft. I can say this is the perfect bun. They have other collections. The cookies are quite good too. It would be nice if there were a chair or two for sit in.

What's not to live about people that make baked goods ? Truly excellent cinnamon buns.

My favourite so far is the cinnamon bun. Even better than (dare i say it) Soderberg's buns. Gooey, warm and soft and they offer extra helping of drizzle. The peanut blondie i bought was an "ok" but there's plenty of other cakes etc that I'd love to try.

Excellent baked treats and lovely staff. Buns and miso pecan cookies are a particular highlight but everything is tasty. Love the plants and decor too!

So delicious! Their salted caramel brownies are my absolute favourite, gooey and chocolatey. They also made my friends birthday cake - white chocolate and raspberry which was sublime! Will definitely be back!

If you want a cinnamon bun then look elsewhere. For vegans, this is a good alternative. In more detail: The cinnamon buns are missing the mark. The attempt to substitute butter is impressive but the salt hits hard and is followed by an overly fatty, cloying sensation. The rolls I had were overbaked on the exterior and almost raw on the inside leaving me with mixed messages as I went through each layer. Based on this experience I would probably not return. I suggest instead go up the 1 way street 2 minutes away (heading towards the swimming pool) for a more limited choice but higher quality option.

I ordered a vanilla birthday cake with chocolate butter icing for 25th birthday. It was absolutely delicious.

Found this bakery in 2019 while vacationing with family. The cheese scones were amazing and my kids still rave about them! We went back the following morning for more! The owner was incredible. She was very kind, friendly and gave great suggestions of things to do in town. We hope to return in the future!

Salt on cookies is a god tier move

I mean, I don't even know what to say about this place. We have been there twice on our trip, and every time we buy like 8 things because it's all just so good. Like, everything they make is the best thing I've ever had. And everyone that works there is so nice. There is some kind of magic happening behind these walls.

I smelt the cakes as I walked by, and it was nice! so I went in... The selection of cakes was great, the staff really lovely and happy to help and tell you what each cake was. I am French, I like cakes and coffee.. and I like it even more when served with a smile :P I got some Peach and Raspberry Frangipane Tart, the crust was buttery and crumbly, the frangipane was creamy and not too sweet, just enough to carry the fruits, it was blooming lovely with a few espressos. So yeah, this is a FANTASTIC bakery. clean, smells amazing, lovely staff... I will be back, oh yes, I will be back!

It's true, it's true, their cinnamon buns are the best in the world! I have become addicted and now eating far too many but it's hard to resist when I pass this small bakery on my way to and from work.
