Ira B's

Moortown, Leeds
19/04/2019: Welcomed like old friends on arrival, then proceeded to be served fantastic food. Definitely worth stopping by for lunch. Would highly recommend!
19/04/2019: Anyone who knows me will know, I never write a review or conduct a “short survey” (unless cash is involved) and today was to be no different, until I met Ira.

The Dyeworks

Kirkburton, Kirklees
19/04/2019: Just returned home after another fine meal at The Dyeworks.
07/04/2019: Very impressed with this place, fantastic bistro style food (possibly a little too much salt if I was being picky!) and very warm, attentive staff. Had the Pork Belly which was cooked to absolute perfection. Perhaps a local beer or two in there would be good but apart from that it’s a brilliant little neighbourhood bistro.

El Gaucho

Guildhall, York, >100£
13/04/2019: We all enjoyed this place. The barbecue ribs for starter was excellent. Then I had the rump which was cooked really well. I also got to try the rib eye and the fillet as our table got different beef cuts. It was all delicious and I would eat there again. El Gaucho had a good atmosphere.
07/04/2019: Staff friendly and attentive, but food was a let down. Starters were average, sirloin steak was not very tasty and was chewy, chips looked over cooked and unappetising, salad mostly rocket. In our view certainly not value for money.

Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill

City and Hunslet, Leeds, 30-45£
19/04/2019: What a place!, your met with smiling faces at the door, and introduced to the Fazenda experience by your head waiter.....
17/04/2019: We hoped for an unforgettable dining experience based on the highly praising reviews and also personal experience but sadly the atmosphere and the food simply didn’t fit the expectations on this occasion . My wife has been here before shortly after it firstly opened and she spoke very immensely of this restaurant but she admitted that the standard and the quality of the establishment went very much downhill over the past years. Typically it is more about the quantity rather than the quality not like before as it was the other way around. I booked a table for two for last Friday evening at 7pm (12/04/2019) and carefully pointed out that we will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary. On arrival the hosts at the door were very pleasant however when we were shown to our table we were tremendously surprised that they seated us at the middle row next to the salad bar where everyone was getting through to reach the bar and the toilets and we politely requested to be moved. Our server returned and informed us that there is no other free table in the restaurant at present then disappeared. On his return he brought us a couple of glasses of Prosecco on the house as a gesture of goodwill and the table next to us became available so he kindly moved us over to be a little bit more out of the way and took our drinks order... (this was the last time we saw our waiter for the rest of the evening, except from the moment of payment) He never came back to check whether everything was all right with our food, or to offer more drinks. The salad bar had a great selection of starters/side dishes/salads however I found it too small for the size of the restaurant and the covers that they take at one time and it was a great struggle on a Friday evening. The meat quality was good, the passadores were lovely but sadly fairly limited items actually reached our table as most of the meat chefs turned right around just before our table to serve others so we only tried half of the items available on the evening menu. We very much lost our spirit at the beginning of our meal therefore opted out for dessert so we payed the rather pricey bill (£100 for two with two drinks and 10% service charge) and left.

The Man Behind the Curtain

City and Hunslet, Leeds
19/04/2019: Last time we visited the restaurant was upstairs and only accessible through Flannels, our 2nd visit the restaurant has moved to the basement of the same building with its own entrance.
15/04/2019: I have eaten in some amazing places around the world and this is up there with them. amazing venue and flavour combinations worth a visit 3 month waiting list and you can see why! something very special

El Piano

Guildhall, York, >100£
03/10/2018: I researched places to eat before our weekend trip to York (my first visit) and El Piano was top of my list. It didn't disappoint.
03/09/2018: I was so disappointed with the food at El Piano as I had incredibly high expectations. The food was sub par, with very strange choices and offerings. The food itself was presented well but just didn't have the right flavours or ingredients to make it enjoyable. We also had to wait an incredibly long time to order our food and pay the bill.

Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

Myton, Kingston upon Hull, City of, 20-30£
25/03/2019: The food here is amazing! The staff are really friendly too. My favorite part is definitely the cake, the pecan pie is the best.
18/03/2019: We’d not been to Hitchcocks for a few months so dined there last Saturday and, if we needed any reminder, it’s as quirkily good as ever.

City and Hunslet, Leeds, 30-45£
18/04/2019: Wow, absolutely amazing food with a great atmosphere and very helpful staff, keep up the good work guys. Thanks we will be back soon.
18/04/2019: We purchased a groupon for 3 courses for £25 each. We were not disappointed. Starters really nice steak main course excellent and dessert very tasty. Atmosphere was good and service was excellent

Central, Sheffield, 20-30£
08/04/2019: Took my friends to Cubana for a beginners Salsa lesson £5 for an hour. It was fun and entertaining. Many smiles and laughter. It was great to watch the next class intermediate dancers who clearly know their moves. We had a fabulous time would recommend.
05/04/2019: Food was amazing, rum was amazing. The staff there are fantastic, John in particular really helped us out with drink and food choices and made our visit extra special!

The Rude Shipyard

Central, Sheffield
16/04/2019: Great cafe, very quirky and good service. Good broadband, prices very reasonable, and above all serves great coffee.

Cottingham South, East Riding of Yorkshire, <20£
12/04/2019: We are regulars of this wonderful cafe since discovering it a few years ago after tasting their amazing rocky road at a veg fest in Lincoln. As well as being gorgeous, the staff are lovely people. Their food is a feast on the eyes not just the belly! Their desserts are to die for and now they are hosting regular pot lucks for vegans to socialise! They are also dog friendly and the home of mummy meagz rocky road. Check them out if you’re in the area, they have some fab coffees like the honey blonde which is almost a meal in itself! Vegan freak shakes too!
31/03/2019: Visited here today with family to treat my mum for Mother’s Day. Booked in advance after seeing it advertised, my mum is vegan so she wanted to try it.

The Alchemist

City and Hunslet, Leeds
18/04/2019: Nipped in for a couple of drinks after shopping yesterday. Basically filthy. At least 4 tables outside that needed an urgent clean. As we left I counted 4 tables inside that had empty glasses on it that hadn't been cleared.
18/04/2019: The service was very slow for both the cocktails and food. I saw my fajita accompaniments sit under a heat lamp for at least 30 minutes. When our food arrived it was as mediocre as the drinks. We were in there for about 2 hours which was too long for lunch, especially as the restaurant seemed to be serving more breakfasts (easy to prepare) than anything else. We have previously had cocktails at the Manchester branch which we found to be much nicer than the ones we had here.

Bridlington South, East Riding of Yorkshire, <20£
16/04/2019: We visited Leo'z last week whilst on holiday for a week in Brid. It was my birthday and we thought we'd try somewhere new for a meal. Leo'z menu looked delicious and varied, and we weren't disappointed. The staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Leo personally made sure everything was alright with our food. We liked it so much we revisited before we left for home!
14/04/2019: Second time we have visited. Staff very friendly and helpful always feel welcomed. Food I have to say is exceptional! Both times we have had the bbq mixed meat platter for two and we also bought a side salad to go with it, it was all absolutely delicious!! Chips and onion rings are cooked perfectly. We also got given both times a few olives before our meal which was a nice touch. I can’t wait to visit again. 10/10 can’t fault anything. Thank you Leoz once again.

Richmond Central, Richmondshire
17/04/2019: Very good food and atmosphere. The steak was cooked perfectly, the wine was lovely (and half price on mondays!). We will most definitely be back.
16/04/2019: 4 of us (all adults) had a family dinner in here, and it is probably one of the best meals I have ever had. It is absolutely fantastic. We had a 3 course dinner there on a Sunday night, didn't have to book (thankfully). Very welcoming, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is great, really gives the South American vibe really well.

ZAAP Thai Street Food

City and Hunslet, Leeds
09/06/2018: Love how they’ve done the place up. The food is really nice, but the service could be polished slightly. But I guess it does fit with the whole street food theme of the place. Would recommend for sure.
04/02/2018: The food itself was lovely for the most part and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere that is a little bit different for Leeds city centre. However, we were in there for a total of about 2 hours due to being ignored by the staff, hard as we tried to get their attention! This is a very long time considering it is supposed to mirror street food service. I was also served a rotten banana for dessert which they were reluctant to change! And I was disappointed there were no main meals marked as veggie friendly so had to have a range of starters and sides.
