The Dirty Duck

Holywood Demesne, North Down
12/08/2019: Went with my husband for lunch on Sunday it seemed busy upstairs so we just sat at a table in the bar overlooking Belfast lough amazing views and absolutely beautiful food with an amazing variety to choose from. The staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable they were very friendly and professional. Quick enough service for food and drink. We will definitely go back again. Dog friendly seating area outside for a stroll along the beach front then a nice drink to relax.
12/08/2019: It's very hard to find a great place, one that you would book in advance of a special occasion. Or a place you would travel 180km to enjoy one of the best meals I have had this year. After just eaten in the awarded "best seafood restaurant" I was not expecting to be blow away by a little restaurant overlooking lough neagh. But this gem, is a place you keep to your self for those moments with your better half. Firstly, the staff are unbelievablely frendly and welcoming, this just made the meal even better. The restaurant has the most stunning view but is one of those places that if you judged a book by its cover, you would pass by without a second clance. But the staff is only eclipsed by the food, just name best gastro pub in ulster, the dirty duck can only be described as spectacular. Chose any dish and you will be delighted and blown away by the cooking, the flavors and the just complete "clear your plate " taste of everything. Looking forward to the next visit would love to keep this to my self but really to good not to share. Fly in, drive, or walk, if I lived in aus I would still travel for the food at the dirty duck.

Yellow Heifer

Rathfriland, Banbridge
13/08/2019: We recently visited the yellow heifer for food one friday evening, no reservation made and they were able to seat us straight away. I ordered the cocktail special which was gorgeous. We shared the crab starter which was so nice and then both ordered a special. This consisted of Fillet steal, cod piece, chorizo and prawn salad, marie rose sauce on the side and a sauce for the steak, also came with a side. The food was excellent and the staff are brilliant too. Cant wait for the next visit.
28/07/2019: Beautiful food as always, very attentive courteous staff in a great atmosphere. Always busy when we are here testament to the fab place that it is. Mist enjoyable night thanks.

The Dirty Onion

Dunmurry, Lisburn
12/08/2019: We visited this bar late on a Saturday afternoon; it's full of character and served great beer, as well as providing a good range of music. A must visit place for the younger folk, but we greatly enjoyed it as well.

10/06/2019: Picnic is an institution famous for its quality and creativity. Love it.perfect for breakfast lunch and afternoon tea. There is no where better for quality food and coffee.

The Quays Restaurant

Portavogie, Ards
08/08/2019: Beautiful restaurant in Portavogie beside the harbour. Fantastic seafood menu which the Mrs loves. Great service from Lee who looked after us the whole time. Highly recommended. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
03/08/2019: I visited The Quays recently for an evening meal with a large group. Most of us hadn't been before and everyone was really pleased with their choices. I opted for the Fisherman's Platter, followed by the Pork Belly. I went for an Irish Coffee instead of a dessert, as I really couldn't eat any more, but all the desserts at our table looked great.

Base Coffee Company

Donard, Down
14/08/2019: We popped into the cafe to get a quick coffee and to get out of the thunder and lightning! We were served very quickly and the drinks were very nice (I had the deluxe hot chocolate) and the brownie I had was lovely. The brownie was gooey, warm and delicious! As we were drinking the staff were chatting away with us and cracking funny jokes all the time. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Great place!!
08/08/2019: Base is our favourite coffee shop in Newcastle. Beautiful coffee, the Snickers tray bake is amazing and the raspberry ruffle cheesecake is a slice of heaven! And best of all they open late ☺

The Anchor Bar

07/08/2019: We called in for lunch when out for a walk and got the most beautiful chicken wings and chips , great sized portions and beautiful flavour ... we will be back
22/05/2019: Definitely one to visit in town, great selection of beers including guest craft beers on tap, unbelievable selection of gins, whiskeys and rum and to top it of brilliant friendly staff. If your in town pop in for a drink and a burger

The Poacher's Pocket

Killinchy, Ards
14/08/2019: I visited the Poacher’s Pocket with my family to celebrate my mum’s birthday. It was perfect from start to finish. Beautiful decor, very clean and tidy to begin. Staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious and enjoyed by everyone. They even provided a little birthday candle in mum’s dessert as a surprise :) Will definitely be back!
11/08/2019: Thoroughly enjoyed my first time at this restaurant. Great food. Excellent service and good value for money.

The Smugglers Table

Killyleagh, Down
12/08/2019: Beautiful cosy restaurant, very friendly and polite staff, food excellent, and to top it off meeting with a celebrity, what more could you ask for on your birthday 🎂. Would recommend definitely to any one. Will definitely be back. 😊
09/08/2019: This was such an expected treat, on entering the restaurant we were unsure what to expect. the maitre D met us at the door and led us directly to a lovely table. The atmosphere was low key and convivial.

Ballymaglave, Down, <20£
28/07/2019: Iv visited the primrose many off occasions with family for food and it has never failed to please! The most recent visit was last Friday. Once again there was nothing to complain about, excellent service, excellent food. I will be returning for much more of this wonder food
24/07/2019: I recently had dinner in The Primrose with my family. From start to finish the staff were helpful, attentive and just a pleasure to deal with. The food was incredible. The prawn salad is a must try! Along with the desserts which were to die for! I’m just gutted I didn’t order a starter! my two daughters, who are super fussy eaters, thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the snowman ice cream desserts were a big hit. I can’t wait to go back and I have been telling everyone who will listen that this is an all round fantastic establishment. Prices were the cherry on the cake! Reflected the food nicely. Fantastic all, keep up the amazing all round great work! hopefully see you again soon.

Harbour, North Down
06/08/2019: I had a steak here and it was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were both happy with our food selection. The restaurant was also very busy when we were there.
06/08/2019: A favourite place to eat as service and food is always first class. Steaks cooked to perfection. Chicken curry very tasty. We all really enjoy the food here and come back again and again. Keep up the good work guys.

Daft Eddies

Killinchy, Ards
11/08/2019: As frequent visitors of the "Little Eddy's" coffee shop, we had noticed a steady decline since the departure of key staff some months ago. More recently the menu has shrunk to include only the most basic of items, all of which involve little more than opening a jar and putting ingredients on a plate - no chef required. Still okay for coffee and tray bakes, but for food you will need to go to the main restaurant next door.
07/08/2019: Most pretentious place i've ever visited. Food was average and over priced, and after an overly long wait at the bar for drinks and repeatedly being ignored for others, was told.." they're locals"..well Miles the locals can have it!

The Ava Grill Restaurant

Harbour, North Down, >100£
13/08/2019: Visited Ava for first time and found it to be really nice inside. Staff were very friendly and quick. The food was good and the service was efficient. I’d go back again.
09/08/2019: The Ava is my favourite eating place in Bangor it never fails..... the food, the surroundings, the atmosphere and the friendly staff are what makes it so good I would recommend it to anyone.

The Guillemot

Harbour, North Down, <20£
17/08/2019: Honestly we were SO pleased and relieved to find this place in amongst the normal disappointing fare on offer at most places in Bangor. I just hated the usual quality of what Bangor cafes had to offer us and was seriously questioning their sanity when it came to food standards. Being from NZ we are spoiled with great places to eat where owners and chefs are passionate about hospitality and the quality and presentation of the food they serve. Finding this establishment has been a godsend and we eat here often when back over here in Bangor visiting family. Their new deli next door is also fantastic. The staff and owners are excellent and their attention to good service is polished and seemless. A super relaxed and friendly atmosphere which is always much appreciated when we are in Bangor.
07/08/2019: Always a great atmosphere and lovely place to come on a Saturday for brunch. Staff are friendly and helpful and food is super. It’s small and you may have to queue but worth the wait.
