The Dirty Onion

Dunmurry, Lisburn
02/11/2018: My wife and I visited the Dirty Onion and the restaurant upstairs the Yardbird on our recent short break visit to Belfast. We had done a walking tour of Belfast and the guide recommended the bar and restaurant. It is located in one of the oldest buildings in Belfast - and that added to the atmosphere of the place. The chicken restaurant upstairs is a sight to behold. The food was good and the staff very friendly.
31/10/2018: Stopped by here for a meal with our pooch.

The Cuan

Strangford, Down, <20£
15/12/2018: Forty of our walking group had a wonderful Christmas Lunch after our walk. There was a great choice in an imaginative menu. We were able to supply our choices a week before hand so the service was very swift from very friendly and helpful staff. Most important of all the food was delicious and very attractively presented. All our members were very complimentary about the food.. Some have indicated that they will bring their friends back. The Restaurant was very understanding when three members who booked were unable to attend due to illness and they did not charge for them. Altogether a great experience.
09/12/2018: Very friendly service Great advice on food and local attractions Fantastic for game of thrones fans with a great book of images taken locally with cast and crew

The Poacher's Pocket

Killinchy, Ards
16/12/2018: Really good quality food served by busy hard working staff. We visited on a Saturday evening without booking and although the place was busy we were quickly found a table. The food was delicious and well presented. The price was a little on the steep side but the food was worth it. A lovely atmosphere and well worth a visit.
16/12/2018: I have been here a few times and it's always a real treat. The food is excellent. Good variety of choices which are always cooked well and superbly presented. Atmosphere is great. It is always always busy but it is well laid out so doesn't feel cramped. Well worth a visit but would consider booking if you do. You won't be disappointed.

Central, Ards
07/11/2018: Great tasty food with complex flavours. Had the sausage roll today but have sampled most of the other dishes. Sausage roll delicious. Coffee is good and served in SMALL cups as all good coffee should be. Can't understand why anyone wants something resembling a bucket of coffee. Haptik, keep doing exactly what you are currently doing - its very good.
22/10/2018: Great place for brunch on a Saturday. I regularly eat here with my partner or my girl friends for a catch up. Coffee is top class and the menu has so much choice, and they alter it with the seasons! Truly perfectionists!

Base Coffee Company

Donard, Down
25/10/2018: Definitely the best coffee shop in Newcastle with the most amazing Apple Pie, topped with a scoop of delicious ice cream. Fantastic friendly environment where you are made to feel really welcome.
23/08/2018: We enjoy coming here for the great coffee and craic. The owner and staff are always very welcoming and we enjoy the banter! Would highly recommend the Apple pie and caramel squares!

Belmont Hotel

Ballydown, Banbridge
03/11/2018: Asa frequent traveller i like to stay in different places and get a broader knowledge of a city or country, however, The Belmont will always be my got to place when visiting Belfast.
15/09/2018: Stayed here for one night during a business trip. The rooms are fantastic and the food was equally good, but the over-riding impression I’ll take away from my first ever visit to Northern Ireland was how fun and friendly the staff were, from the receptionist who first greeted me to the very bubbly waitress who served us both dinner and breakfast. If I’m ever back in Norther Ireland I’d definitely stay here again.

The Boathouse Restaurant

Harbour, North Down
17/12/2018: We visited The Boat House for my partners birthday and were totally blown away by the amazing food and excellent service. Jonathan was a delight with his knowledge and recommendations. This taster menu is not to be missed and the wine is paired to perfection. I enjoyed it so much I'll be back next week!
17/12/2018: Excellent meal at the Boathouse. Perfect and delicious tasting menu with excellent wine pairing. 7 courses each with a variety of local ingredients, perfectly cooked and presented. Jonathan had an excellent knowledge of wine and matched the food perfectly. Overall service was outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxed and intimate. The staff were so attentive, the food was the best I’ve ever had, the wine matching was perfect. I will definitely be back to this amazing restaurant and could not recommend it enough.

Daily Grind

Cathedral, Down
10/11/2018: Hi very very good food and the place is so clean it's very good I would tell others to try here I will be back to see if can get better
12/09/2018: The chef prepared us two lovely vegan salads (which came with crusty bread) on request today - one of the best meals we’ve had from a non-vegan restaurant. Really tasty and fresh with interesting flavours - you could tell lots of thought was put into them!

The Dirty Duck

Holywood Demesne, North Down
02/12/2018: Coming here for many years - from across the Lough (must be worth it..) - for weekend family stuff (oldies/kids/the rest) - and ‘Boys’ lunches/dinners. Food is the comfort variety and ranges from fairly good to occasionally spectacular specials (seafood is good bet), the bonus for me is proper ales, a well priced, well considered wine list, and just a really nice buzz.
02/12/2018: This pub was a pleasant surprise - excellent hospitality and great live music. Good selection of guns too.

Home Sweet Home

Donaghadee North, Ards
01/11/2018: A little gem in Donaghadee. This is different to most coffee shops, not at all "corporate", but small and homely. Food mainly home made, coffee lovely. They don't serve large lunches, but soup, stew and sausage butties as well as toasted sandwiches. Also the usual tray akes and cakes. The wheaten bread is delicious. Lovely atmosphere in the shop, lots of nice nic-nacs for sale or to browse. Staff very friendly. My only small "moan" would be the slowness of the service, but I suppose the kind of place is for those who have some time to spare. Having said that I would not hesitate to return or recommend to anyone.
12/09/2018: Visited this delightful coffee shop today with my wife. The freshly- baked cakes were scrumptious, the coffee was really good and the staff very friendly. We can highly recommend it.

Dundonald, Castlereagh, 20-30£
09/11/2018: Cinnamon is the Indian of choice in our house and the food quality is always very good. The restaurant staff are friendly and helpful. The app is also very easy to use.
28/10/2018: After its high rating on Trip Advisor, we decided to give this restaurant a try. We were not disappointed. The food was superb - of a very high standard and very well presented. Staff were very polite, attentive and gave good advice when choosing from the menu. We’ll definitely be returning again soon. Well done the Cinnamon staff, we had an excellent evening in your restaurant.

Daft Eddies

Killinchy, Ards
17/12/2018: My husband, mother and auntie were out on Saturday and decided to call in for lunch as it had been a long time since we had eaten here. We weren't disappointed. The welcome we received from all the staff was fantastic and they made us feel like the only people in the restaurant. The food was good but not outstanding however this didn't matter as the staff and views more than make up for it. We will definitely visit again.
08/11/2018: I took my husband here for his birthday at short notice. We were so warmly welcomed, including our golden retriever. The meal was cooked to order with fresh, local ingredients, a good vegetarian selection and very good value for money. It was a cold, grey day so we didn’t get to enjoy the terrace but the view over the water must be very special on a summers day.

North Down House

Comber West, Ards, >100£
11/12/2018: Haven’t been to this restaurant for a long time and when I dined there recently was very impressed.
11/12/2018: This bistro is crying out to be modernised. Not a place for a special night out. The food is ‘just ok’. Service was OK. Won’t rush back.

Yellow Heifer

Rathfriland, Banbridge
11/12/2018: Excellent surroundings, cosy, excellent service, very pleasant, food to die for. Couldn't fault it. Its quaint style sets for a very relaxed and enjoyable occasion. Plenty of room to suit large or small groups. Very accommodating.
09/12/2018: On a previous visit to The Yellow Heifer I ordered the fish special and though the portion was very small I thought it was a one off.

Holywood Priory, North Down, 30-45£
17/11/2018: Stopped in for dinner after picking up some friends from the airport. We arrived and were quickly seated by friendly staff and are drink orders were taken a brought to us in no time. After looking at the menu which had a wide selection including a number of options for people with food intolerance one of the reasons we choose here in the first place
14/11/2018: Requested "slow cooked" roast beef dinner. It was awful. Beef was tough, veg was under cooked (broccoli), and roast potatoes had an 'earthy' taste - probably because they were in storage for too long. Very disappointed.
