ocho tapas bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
09/02/2019: Just dined in Ocho Tapas Bistro - a change from the usual Ramore group of restaurants in Portrush and to be honest a welcome change.
26/01/2019: I didn’t expect to get a table having booked so last minute but I’m delighted they managed to fit us in! It’s the best in Portrush! The menu is so varied (great for vegetarians too!) that everyone will enjoy. Staff were lovely, service was excellent and the restaurant itself is warm and relaxed. I will definitely come back

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
27/01/2019: Never miss a chance to call in for a Guinness or two and see the delightful Willie, the best bar man in Europe. His wit and banter always make our night. It may be a small bar but packed with atmosphere and oh so friendly. Katrina was singing in the corner and belted our some fantastic tunes, all in all a cracking night as usual. Can’t wait to go back....
26/01/2019: We had a great meal in the restaurant and went into the bar for a night cap before home. Unfortunately one of our party took ill. The staff were absolutely tremendous they could not do enough to help in a trying situation. The bar and door staff knew exactly what they were doing and have obviously been well trained to deal with all situations. They are an absolute credit to the bar, you will be in safe hands there - thanks guys.

Mermaid Kitchen and Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
31/01/2019: Visited Mermaid Kitchen & Bar for a family lunch on Sunday 16th December. Upon arrival at 1pm the restaurant was fairly empty but didn't take long to fill up. The food was simply delicious. I had the goat's cheese and beetroot salad and would agree with opinions from other reviewers that the excess quantity of goat's cheese imbalances the dish. I ordered that Sunday's special of 12hr braised beef which was so tender and delicious. Others enjoyed the roast chicken breast and the seafood Thermidore.
27/01/2019: Booked a table but arrived 20 mins earlier and got shown straight in. Menu was varied and extensive. Food arrived very well presented and delicious-highly recommend! Plus side is no kids allowed!

The Boatyard Coffee Shop Coleraine

Dundooan, Coleraine
01/02/2019: This place is just a hidden gem. Staff very polite and the food is just exceptional. Everything home made and very well presented on plate. Been here twice recently and can see it turning into my weekly treat. Well done to all the staff.
22/01/2019: The Boatyard has the most delicious food all created daily by co-owner Lorna. My favourite is warm chorizo salad with potato. Menu caters for all tastes from sandwiches and fresh beautiful soups to flatbreads with tender beef all sourced from local small businesses num, num!!! Lorna creates the most gorgeous scones and patisserie along with sumptuous cakes and pies. David, other co-owner has a zeal for their coffee which is superb. He is great craic and enjoys making sure people really enjoy their stayt. What I admire most about them is they strive for excellence in all they do with this business. Well worth a call, located just outside Coleraine set back beside river and idyllic countryside the Boatyard is so well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Kiwi's Brew Bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
30/01/2019: Our favourite wee chill spot when visiting Portrush a few weeks ago. I think the bar man was called Aaron - he was great! Will definitely be back as it is a hidden gem in Portrush with a great atmosphere.
22/01/2019: The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was great. All employees we encountered were super friendly and helpful. The live music was a bonus. We will definitely stop by again if we are in three area.

Wee Cottage

Garvagh, Coleraine
21/12/2018: Simply delightful. Warm, cosy and friendly. But the highlight that still lingers on my taste buds, are the scones. Mine had strawberries and butter and cream but truly any flavor or plain will be memorable. Best scone I had during two months in Ireland.
20/10/2018: We had lunch here after visiting Dunluce Castle. While this is definitely not a 5*restaurant it deserves a 5 circle rating for doing well what it is supposed to. We had a great lunch of homemade soup and bread. We didn't partake but the scones and pastries looked fabulous and people were ordering coffees that were nice sounding. The tables were comfortable and the space was immaculate. If you want a quick, cozy, delicious lunch this is the place.

Amici Ristorante Portstewart

Portstewart, Coleraine
18/12/2018: Myself and three friends had dinner here for the first time recently. We had sharing plates for starters and mains. The mains of cod, Ribeye steak and Lemon chicken was superb. Good wine list and Meghan our server was very helpful. I will be back.
15/12/2018: Haven’t been to Amici in a couple of years - staff were great and food was absolutely top notch - I opted for the steak which was perfectly cooked. Dessert was equally impressive. Would definitely recommend - if you are happy to pay a bit extra you will get a bit extra

The Anchor Bar Complex

Portstewart, Coleraine
03/12/2018: We stopped off here for an early dinner and it was a pleasurable experience. I opted for the chicken chorizo pasta and my wife the cod and chips. Very good quality food, served piping hot in generous portions. The wait-staff were pro-active and warm. This is a good choice for quick pub food in a pleasant ambiance. Well done to the staff - thank you for the great service and warm welcome
19/11/2018: My preference for drinking establishments is an old fashioned quaint pub with atmosphere. The Anchor lacks this because it's not that kind of pub, but it's location helps to exude the marine vibe. Dark wood, great staff, and a good pint, go a long way to making this a worthwhile visit.

Anne's Tearoom

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
29/01/2019: Called in for coffee and natter.
15/11/2018: First off I have to say the food was amazing, ordered 3 Fry's and coffees and toast. Price was excellent for the amount, you get good hearty Northern Irish Fry's. Food was quick and came out with the coffees. Only downsize was the staff member who served us was a wee bit grumpy (I know we can all have our bad days) but he just mumbled serving us and then as he brought the plate of toast down in putting it on the table the butter portions went flying. I would definitely return but just up the customer service a wee bit.

The Harbour Bistro

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
17/02/2019: Arrived at 6.20pm last night (Saturday) and were told an hour and a half wait and given a numbered ticket. Not unusual but waiting area upstairs very congested and difficult to hear numbers being called. Called after an hour and a half but no table apparently when we got downstairs. Guy on the desk waiting for someone to answer phone didn’t even acknowledge our presence initially. We were then curtly told to wait at the bar. After 5 mins we asked was our table not ready. Told it would be a few mins. 10 mins later asked again and asked why we were called down if the table wasn’t actually ready. ‘Go upstairs again if you want’ was the retort with a sarcastic tone. I understand he has a pressured job when there are long waits but good manners cost nothing and could easily have placated us. Waiting staff were great so it is a shame their efforts were eclipsed by this guy’s attitude and rudeness.
16/02/2019: Lovely food and pleasant service from staff. Just make sure you’re prepared for a long wait at weekend/ popular times. We were given an approximate 1 hour 15 wait which was the best of the ‘Ramore chain’ that night. Upstairs bar area can be a tight squeeze.

Neptune & Prawn

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
06/03/2019: We went on a Sunday evening which was very busy and luckily as only two of us got a table quickly. Up until 7pm they have a 2 course menu for £10.99 but when you actually see the menu it can work out much more which we found very misleading. Most of the main courses have a £3 supplement and then a side order is not included so put another fiver at least each on your orders. The food was good and nicely presented and service fine. Don't think we will be rushing back though.
03/03/2019: Where to start. On the positive side. The food and waitress were excellent. However this did not make up for our overall experience.

Dora's

Hopefield, Coleraine
03/03/2019: Called with my wife and Mother in law. cafe was busy on our arrival which of course is fine . however no staff even looked our direction - we were literally passed by, by a waitress. The atmosphere was dire but at this point I thought it was only me - then my mother in law said let’s get out of here this place is a disgrace. Don’t think I’ve ever walked out feeling so disappointed. No idea what the food was like as it never got that far - poorly done, poorly done indeed.
01/02/2019: Very homely tea room. Friendly and welcoming staff that cannot do enough to help. The biggest problem is what to pick from the menu, so many tasty delights to select from.
