French's Cafe and Bistro

Seaforde, Down
25/11/2018: I’m not local to Northern Ireland and traveled over to celebrate my mothers birthday so had no idea this restaurant existed. When i got there i asked my brother in law what he recommended and he said forget the menu and just order the beef. He was absolutely spot on with his recommendation, the beef was done to perfection, melt in your mouth with a fantastic rich gravy. I have dined in some top end restaurants all over the world and this particular dish was up there with the best of them. This restaurant could just serve this dish and they would still be full on a daily basis, it is seriously that good. This dish would cost you in excess of £40 in a top end restaurant so the value for money is superb. Advice for the chef, don’t change a thing !
21/11/2018: I recently met family here for lunch, it was delicious and the staff are helpful, professional and attentive.

Percy French

Shimna, Down, >100£
25/11/2018: The restaurant ambience has little finesse with no table clothes like the hotel. The main course of lamb and fish was fine and tasty but on the small side. The pudding of an ice cream slider axpensive,£6, with too much sauce masking the taste. The pecan pie just out of the freezer too cold.
15/11/2018: During my time in NI, I wanted to do the 'Journey of Doors' to see all of the intricately carved Game of Thrones doors. Percy French is the home to door #3 and as we were arriving late into Newcastle we thought we also come for dinner. The food was nice and the staff all very friendly. It's located on the grounds of the Slieve Donard hotel and Royal County Down Golf Club with the waterfront on the other side of a large lawned area, so it's probably nicer to go there for lunch to make to most of it.

Corin

Harbour, North Down
25/03/2017: So bad it closed!Service was abysmal and food left a lot to be desired. We had booked but no one had a record of it.

Castillo

Killough, Down, 45-60£
01/08/2018: Called passed here on a Saturday afternoon - it was only by chance we stopped here - we ordered two ham sandwiches and they were just wonderful - plenty of it - home made bread- proper ham and side salad - can't wait to go back there - well worth a visit
15/12/2015: Tucked away on the main street in Killough is this quirkily delightfully decorated restaurant. What a treat !The food is delicious, different and beautifully presented. As for the staff...the previous reviewer must have got an off day because they could not have been kinder or more helpful. You bring your own wine which is a bonus and with food to die for you would be crazy not to give it a go...they deserve to do well.

Mangetout Deli

Quoile, Down
07/07/2018: Seen these lovely tartlets at the mange tout stall in the town. Decided to get my mummy a blueberry crumble one.. the girl got me one not from the counter, but from behind where i assumed the surplus stock was so as not to ereck their display... dropped it off to her to have with a cuppa. Imagine my disgust at getting a phone call to say it was molded inside, after trying to convince her that it was blueberry i asked her to send me a photo. And yeah... it was completely blue inside. Now i would imagine that anybody goin to that much trouble to set up a stall trying to get their products and brand out there would at least bring the good stuff... not treat the market as a bring the old stale stuff as it's bound to sell...
19/06/2018: A very good choice of food with a certain flair, excellent coffee and attentive staff. The daily specials are always a good choice.

Crepes de Normandie

Ballydown, Banbridge
23/12/2015: great going up here to get a crepe have tried sweet and savoury ones and both of them are good. properly done by a French man. definitely recommend to try one when your up in the outlet.
