The best restaurants in Castle Bedford East of England

Had a great time. Food was excellent so was the service. Our waiter Volkan was very friendly and he made sure we enjoyed our dinner at a table of our choice..

I arranged an Afternoon Tea, baby shower for my sister at Papillon in August. I was in contact with Lisa from the start to sort out all the details, and Lisa was so lovely, friendly and happy to accommodate all our needs (including dietary needs). Even when I had to change the number of people coming (two times!), Lisa was still happy to help me out. On the afternoon of the event I arrived early to set up, and was very kindly given the big space at the back of the Café that was more private. Lisa and her team allowed me to put up banners and asked if I needed anything, etc. After all the guests had arrived, the staff at Papillon were so helpful in accommodating all the needs of our large group. It was also very and relaxed, as they allowed us to have time chatting before bringing out the afternoon teas. The Afternoon Tea was 10/10 as it always is, (I've been several times before!) such a great selection, and everything just tasted fantastic. But nothing can beat their sausage rolls, the best I've had in Bedford! They even put a little baby shower decoration on the afternoon tea stands, which was so lovely and gave us extra cheesecakes. Even after the Café was closing (and we lost track of the time.....) the staff were so considerate and let us stay a little longer to finish up our games. Every request I had (pencils for our games, boxes to back up the cakes) the staff couldn't be more helpful. At to top of it off, after we finally left (well after the closing time!) one of the staff members kindly took a group photograph. Overall I am so happy with the experience, and so grateful to all the staff at Papillon for helping to make this Baby Shower so special for my Sister. THANK YOU

The food was absolutely disgusting. Cold, greasy, and looked unpalatable. I couldn’t eat it and they didn’t even ask why. Avoid!

¡Cibo! Qué gran joya oculta es esto. Este pequeño Deli / cocina escondido fuera de los caminos trillados ofrece un gran desayuno y almuerzo italiano. Tuve un hachís toscano para el desayuno, que era genial. Preciosas combinaciones de sabores de chorizo picante equilibrado con un chorrito de queso parmasano picante y ciabatta tostada para darle textura. Mi esposa pidió la resaca que consistía en un huevo de gallina frito, salchicha toscana que era genial, pequeñas bolas de patata fritas, tocino crujiente rayado con un ketchup maría sangrienta que realmente amenizó todo el plato. Nuestro servidor Silvana era muy profesional y servicial a nuestras necesidades. Nos quedamos muy impresionados y sin duda volveremos en el futuro. Cibo es muy auténtico y a un precio razonable vale la pena visitarlo.

Good food from Bari, execellent portions, crisp service and very authentic. The panzerotto in the oven, Calzone style is superb value at approximately £5!!!! Great service and staff b or tri-lingual. Nice atmosphere. Fab range of food on menu and very modern Italian cooking, unlike some restaurants in Bedford and environs. Well done! Bravissimi tutti! Maggie

We love this little Gem on the Highstreet. Our go-to fav is the peanut butter/banana protein shake. The overnight oats are so yummy too!! Staff are so lovely- Thanks! x

Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra comida en la noche Beaujolais Nouveau. La comida era excelente - el mejor filete que he tomado en mucho tiempo. ¡Delicioso, jugoso, sabroso, medio raro! El servicio era muy amable y el vino era bueno también. Es un servicio más lento que algunos lugares, pero la comida vale la pena la espera y es agradable poder ponerse al día con los amigos durante una cena tranquila.

We have been coming to Coffee at Star for a good number of years, for as long as we’ve been parents of a Junior rower! Firstly, it’s an incredibly welcoming and inclusive place to come. You don’t have to be a member of either Star Club or Falcon. Dogs are welcome and it’s so nice to see so many there on a weekend especially. The service has always been exceptional, it’s run by Ann and her team. They offer the best hospitality, which we’re not always known for in the UK! The location is very special, with immediate views of the Great River Ouse from the balcony. There is also a modern, cosy space inside with sofas, tables, chairs with plenty of blankets and cushions to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible. The selection of food never disappoints. I can vouch for all of it that I’ve tried (and I’ve had a lot!). I am a regular consumer of their waffles with yoghurt and fruit, I enjoy the granola bowl too. My kids enjoy the waffles with bacon, the halloumi breakfast bap is a family favourite and of course they sell essential bacon/egg baps as well as just toast! Breakfast, brunch isn’t where is stops. There is always cake available, meaning it becomes an ideal place to drop in, have a bite to eat and drink and enjoy the views! Have I mentioned that the coffee is AMAZING, they have a wide selection available and I can vouch for their delicious skinny flat white and chai latte. The smoothies are a hit with parents, the kids and everyone else it seems. A must for your trip to the Riverside in Bedford!

Went in to have a look at bikes, unlike a lot of bike shops during these C19 times they appear to have very good stock! Had a flat white and a bit of carrot cake whilst I was there, both of which were very nice. The staff were genuinely happy to help.

Lovely food so we'll cooked I recommend this place.
