zest Gastronomia in Fylde

Visited a few dozen times. Quality depends on staff turnover around. Sometimes food is greasy and over cooked, other times fantastic. Lot of customers just drink, can see why. Last time I went the a male waiter just stared at me for a couple minutes, and kept giving long stares. Not sure if he thought he thought he knew me from somewhere or something weird, but nearly walked out. Food was well cooked, but portions small. Still hungry. Good for small appetites. Waiter kept giving funny looks as giving service. Asked for bill and he walked over with a charge machine and bill including a 10% service charge after spending over £110. Service charge should have a limit or not at all with their prices. Machine asked for gratuity after a huge service charge. Lol. He walked five feet with a couple plates and a bottle,and was being weird. Got busy and felt cramped, was awkward getting out being six feet four where I sat with ceiling decor hanging down and close seating. After we got a roast chicken sandwich from Sainsbury’s. No service charge and gratuity begging.

Nice food , shame about the service. Very rushed, will give it a miss next time , plenty more places to choose from in Lytham.

Asked for a table and waited whilst they sat everyone else who walked in after us better tables (they were only having drinks too) and ended up being sat by a bin until we was eventually moved. Service was horrendous, atmosphere was awful. We was asked by 3 members of staff multiple times if we were ready to order within a minute of being sat down. Food came within 10 minutes of ordering, pasta ‘al dente’, flavourless and full of oil. Would not recommend. Only good thing about the place was the young lad with the curly hair and the peri chicken. AVOID

Really slow service. It was only 9 a.m. Took 15 mins for an iced latte to be served. No apology. When I asked where the iced latte was, the service person said,'Well, we've had a delivery blocking the ice'. Absolute jokers 😅

This is usually our go too place to eat and have never had a bad experience. I booked here for my fiancés 30th and wow what a huge disappointment. Both the waitress and waiter were rude, not interested and quick to rush off before you finished your sentence. We both ordered starters only mine arrived and waited 10 minutes for my partners. Then only too find out when we asked that they didn’t order it. We was told by the waitress that one of the starters was on the menu then told by another it was not. Very confusing and most of all disappointing.

Terrible service waited so long for our drinks. Then we saw other people who came in 10/15 mins after ourselves being served before us and with food. After asking where our drinks were, we did eventually get served. The flat white was the worst my husband has ever had, and the tea is so weak. Very overrated. Had much better coffee in other places in both Lytham and St. Annes. Didn't even receive an apology after waiting for a very long time.

Zest in Lytham is a gem! I’ve had the sausage ciabatta every time—utterly amazing. The chicken wrap is also fantastic, packed with flavour. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and consistently brilliant food. Highly recommend for a tasty bite and chill vibe!

Party of 9 booked well in advance. It was extremely busy when we arrived and there were far too many people in the restaurant for its size. Felt packed in like sardines and shoved right next to the kitchen. Very noisy and not a relaxing atmosphere. The server taking our drinks order was not aware which wines were which (gave us the wrong drinks) and forgot to ask the bar to make my gin. We had to ask them twice to make it. Our booking was at 7:45pm and still hadn’t received our starters an hour later. The starters were not good quality. The garlic bread is more like a cake with how thick it was. The mains had not arrived by 9:30pm and at this point we decided to leave. When we told the manager we want to leave because our food was not ready, he told us it was ready and about to be served (bearing in mind we were sat right next to the pass and could see that our food was, in fact, not ready yet). The women’s toilets are not safe at all as the sinks are right by the stairs which are slippy and a safety hazard, especially for elderly customers. It was also apparent that several members of the staff were working under the influence of drugs whilst on shift which we found to be extremely unprofessional. The only reason for the 1 star is because the manger let us leave without having to pay.

I wish I could find something to criticise but I can't. Zing food was excellent. I had Jambalaya which was superb.

Buzzing eatery in Lytham with lovely food and great service.

10 of us looking for food with no booking on Mothers Day and the staff and owner were so accommodating! Excellent food, service and atmosphere.

We both enjoyed the lunchtime food and the location. Avocado and bacon salad was well presented and tasty and the tuna sandwich great. Drinks all arrived promptly and were as expected and although we didn’t have them the desserts looked good too. Only reason for marking as a 4 not a 5 was the waitress wasn’t the friendliest and looked like she didn’t really want to be there.

Always a reliable lunch spot and was again this week . No need to book at lunch time as they can usually accommodate and serve all day which is handy . Quick and efficient service . Food is tasty and reasonably priced . Nice coffee too . Dog friendly outside and also in the sheltered outdoor area .

Food was average, wouldn't say it was anything spectacular for the price you pay, lacked flavours. Staff where friendly, restaurant is nice, however toilets and the back are very dirty.

We look forward to having lunch when we’re in Lytham however on this occasion we were very dissatisfied. We had to ask the server twice as the jug for the milk had missed its trip in the dishwasher, the second jug we were offered has a chip in it, the third time the milk was stripped on to my coat and the table The other observation was that two members of the kitchen appeared to be helping themselves from the pass. It would be interesting to see how often the staff have food safety training and who manages.

Trendy bar restraunt in Lytham St Annes. Had breakfast, very tasty, have dined her before,great staff, nice atmosphere food very good.

We sat outside in the sunshine here! Very popular place. Good choice of food. We just had a small bite to eat here but really enjoyed it!

A brilliant restaurant, had lunch there today and we definitely recommend it to everyone visiting Lytham.

Not the best coffee and a bit expensive. You can get better coffee and cheaper around the town. Need to up their game. Lots of competition in Lytham.

We went last week late afternoon and felt terribly rushed. We had several staff dealing with us, a bit overwhelming and one even took my plate away while i was still chewing my food. They desperately wanted us gone. Really disappointing.

Fantastic sea food platter to share with my Mum. It was delicious and there was plemty of it. The place was super busy, even on a Tuesday lunch time but we were accommodated even without a booking. Service was very friendly too. Will definately come again next time we're in the area.

Excellent food as always. Bustling atmosphere and all tables full. I chose the prawn open sandwich and sister in law chose the goats cheese and red peppers on ciabatta. We both enjoyed our meals. Very tasty, and cooked from fresh. Seating and tables outside too. No car parking outside, but car parks close by. Definitely recommend.

When we entered we were allocated a table by the owner who was very hospitable. Once at the table a lady took the drink order who was lovely, then we were assigned to a waitress who had zero time or patience for my friends an I! I was sat by the pass which is fine normally, but not when the waitress is speaking behind me to the Chef saying get these gone! Hurry up with there food, and pulling faces and rolling eyes which I had full view of In the mirror. We were made to feel out of place by said waitress (wish I got her name) the bill was £120 zero tip given due to service

Cake was dried out and hard straight from the chill cabinet, service was surly and bordering on rude when I stated that the cake was inedible. I think the service charge is included because otherwise they would have to try to be helpful. There are so many lovely places to eat in Lytham, avoid Zest - don’t be lured by the pretty patio

Went into Zest for a work day lunch date with my husband. The table was very close to the kitchen and toilets but was OK. We order our drinks and food. My husband ordered a BLT and coffee, I ordered a peri chicken wrap, king prawns in a garlic/chilli sauce and a bowl of fries to share. The hot drinks arrived, the food arrived. My husband had only eaten have his BLT and I noticed a long dark hair wrapped around a piece of bacon in his second half of the sandwich. We called the waitress over and told her our findings. She took the plate away without offering an apology. My husband told her he would not be paying for his meal. I couldn't continue with my meal, it was very off putting. We continued to eat the fries until the same waitress came and removed them without asking if we had finished. We went to pay the bill and they had included a discretionary service charge of £3.48. Needless to say I asked for that to be removed and also half the cost of the fries as we had only eaten half a potion. Sadly Zest you are not worth the money. The food is average, the presentation includes extra's (hair in the food) is unacceptable and the service is sadly lacking. There are much nicer and cleaner places to eat in Lytham

Always busy with a good choice of food at a decent price. Very efficient staff.

On a freezing bright, cold day (-5 degrees), visiting Lytham we were in need of warming food, and decided on Zest as they had outdoor heaters and blankets. We were with our dog and inside was full, but we were happy to sit outside. The waitress was really friendly and seated us immediately and asked if we wanted drinks. The coffee and hot chocolate were delicious, it’s been a while since I had really decent coffee when eating out. I enquired about the soup of the day which turned out to be Thai chicken and we ordered a hot sausage ciabatta to share. The soup was absolutely delicious with the right amount of heat both in temperature and spice. The sausage ciabatta came with smooth buttery onions and roasted peppers. Both went down a treat and we were warmed both inside and out. The bistro was really busy and many ppl like ourselves were happy to sit outside. I really did feel for the waitress who was on her own, as it was a particularly cold snap this week, however she didn’t let this affect her customer service in any way and made sure everyone was greeted and seated asap. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

Very good and fresh food and fabulous service, very attentive. Eye to detail and nothing was too much trouble. Was busy when we get there not having reservation and still been accomodated for a lovely meal. We will be back.

Went there last night 4th January 2025,wasn't very impressed with the rushed service. We were asked what we'd like to drink,before we'd even had a chance to look at the wine/drink menu? The giabatta that was served with my king prawns was rock hard,maybe stale. My wife's main course came out cold,& had to be sent back! Then a £10.00 surcharge was added at the end of the meal,which was apparently optional!! Not impressed, & will not be getting our custom again 😒

We went there last night for my husbands birthday, very disappointed!! Half if my mussels had come the shell ,but they were not in my bowl. They brought me another bowl and they were so small and not nice . On to the mains my husband had veal wich was dry! I had the seafood pasta wich was cold ,I could have made better myself, so they took away to microwave . I have had a knee replacement and couldn't make it upstairs to the toilet, so had to use the disabled one downstairs it had no lock on the door and was filthy. Not going back in there.

Great Little Spot in Lytham! Drinks are amazing and so is the decor! We will be back very soon!

Lovely staff and food! We sat outside with our dog and it was nice and warm under the heater, coffee was very good and breakfast was so tasty, amazing sausages 😋 Also very good value for money!

We did not feel staff are warm and welcoming enough to us. We dont think 10% charge is fair with that kind of customer service they provided.

When I’m in the North this is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE. When you catch the sun you can catch it here! Great atmosphere great crowd. An added bonus to the “Lytham Triangle” of dining. The food is of great quality and value. My fav.

Delicious breakfast. Came here on a Sunday morning and sat outside and was lovely and warm in a cold December day. The heaters and blankets were a lovely touch. The small full English included bacon, sausage, 2x hash browns, fried egg, tomato, mushroom, toast and a glass of orange juice for £10. Can't believe how decent that was and the food was cooked to perfection. I also opted for a hot drink too and I paid their service charge which all together was roughly £14 each in our party. Service was quick and we will definitely be back for that yummy breakfast

Nice decor, bit crowded at lunchtime. Menu is poor for information regarding allergies. Nothing suitable for vegan or dairy intolerance unless you want green salad and chips. Even veg soup wasn't vegan suitable.

Gave this place a 2nd chance after previous bad service. They've crammed tables in so we were like sardines. The young male and female staff were passive aggressive to say the least. We paid up and got out asap, never to return.

We called here on a Tuesday evening after eating elsewhere and found it to be a lovely bar with a pleasant outdoor heated area. The drinks choice was good, and the man waiting on was pleasant and courteous.

Popular busy location with ladies that lunch. We had to be seated inside at the back as 2 groups had made it impossible to sit at a less busy spot as tables are close together in parts of the restaurant. Service was quick. My main issue is with descriptions on the menu. We ordered the hot tortillas and they were very spicy as well as being warm. The menu description did not say spicy. Additionally we were not asked if anyone had an allergy. Someone else ordered the cheese focacia, it arrived drizzled with balsamic dressing which was not on the menu description. I was surprised that my portion of ice cream accompanying my pie came in a dinky paper container didn't feel very upmarket Happily the waiting staff did remove the spicy tortilla chips off the bill but wasn't nice hearing other staff discuss the issue.

Great place only 1 issue. Zest must take responsibility for the dog on the premises . Bruno. My last 2 visits have been disrupted by the dog getting out and causing chaos at Zest and establishments close by. It's becoming a risk to visit with my dog.

Called in for lunch on Sunday. Waited 40 minutes after receiving drinks but no food. Checked with the waitress about our food, who took our order again!! No apology. No explanation. Waited another 20 minutes before deciding to leave . Still no apology. No explanation and they even charged us for our drinks. Will not return.

Fantastic food, lasagne, and lamb ragu pasta were full of flavour. Great choice of food, ranging from sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and seafood. Good ambience. Although it was October, we ate outside. It was a great place to people watch!

Great for coffee on a sunny day with some snacks

Excellent. Everything about it. The atmosphere was buzzing. A mixture of families, groups of friends, couples etc. The food was great - try the lobster ravioli, fabulous. And a special mention to our waiter, Oliver, who couldn't have been more attentive and fun. Bravo!

Great coffee but rip off cake So disappointed had one of the best 'flat whites' I have had in ages BUT the "homemade" carrot cake was an absolute rip off at £7.50 and not great Serving a bit of (frozen) soft fruit and whipped cream neither of which was asked for does not justify price of cake/gateau So sad as based upon coffee and service it could be a 'go to' place for us

Service and food where both really good, we both opted for Goat's cheese brushetta and they were very generous with the cheese. What spoilt our visit was cheeky comment by the waitress. We asked for the bill, which showed our food and drinks + service charge of £3.50 which I was happy to pay. Total bill was £34 & I handed the waitress £40, to be asked "and do you want any change"? Yes, please, can I have £5, was my response, which gave her the service charge + £1, but she was effectively asking if she was getting a £9 tip.. which would be about 1/3rd of our lunch cost.... she took my £40 then quickly returned it, saying they didn't have £5 and would need to pay by card, which I hadn't wanted to do......

Plenty of seating inside and out good efficient service quality coffee and tea. Perhaps don't have low moveable signs above seating and apologise when falls on customers head.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal and would return. The staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was brilliant. The restaurant was busy but they found us a table and accommodated us in a professional manner.

I was in a party of 5 and arrived on a sunny Friday afternoon. Inside was busy so we sat around one of tables outside. It appeared that there was sufficient staff on duty yet we waited over 10 minutes before we were seen to. The food for four of us arrived in reasonable time but there was a "mix up" with my order. As a result I had to wait a further 15-20 minutes for my food. On finishing our meals the table was not cleared for ages, well until we called a member of staff to come and clear the empty plates. Not the best of experiences.

Thay take money from your account ie 10%service charge without telling you, Bring you big glasses of wine what you didant ask for

It was OK,was very busy people everywhere it was Fri night & herding em in herding em out. No connection to customers,no pleasantries no smiles. Food was OK. Won't go back there!!

Went for lunch and had a very enjoyable afternoon. No table available outside but the staff made sure we got one after having a drink inside. The food was lovely and the service was impeccable.

Having been a loyal customer for years ,i feel i need to point out that the quality of the food has slipped of late. The breakfast when it arrived was cold, an sausage that looked more like a chipolata, tasted of nothing, bacon was more fat than actual bacon, tomato raw , and instead of a poached egg i get a fried egg swimming in oil, even though it was replaced just allowed the meal to get even colder.. when coming to pay, i find a service charge has already been applied, and just to cap the experience of they will not except cash.... nowhere is this displayed, needless to say we will not be visiting again..shame as the quality used to be excellent, put obviously trading on former glories..

A superb stop. It is a rare pleasure to find a place with reliably good food and excellent service. I would pay more if I could guarantee this, but the cost were quite reasonable anyway. I have always appreciated an 'older' style of service where plates are put in front of us without leaning across other people, where common courtesy is a matter of course. Even serving from the left and clearing from the right is a key element of quality that is so difficult to find now. I appreciated this level of service and the quality of the food - Thank you

Sadly it was a let down, we waited over 30minutes for our food and drinks and they got our order wrong and then the replacement took another 20 minutes to come out. We had the american style pancakes with fruit compote and whipped cream as stated on the menu. It wasn't fruit compote is was a minimal amount of fresh fruit and we had to ask for the whipped cream as it wasn't on the plate. The drinks took nearly 40minutes to come. The table next to us had the same issue with the drinks. We would not come here again.

Beautiful restaurant and amazing food

We had two coffees here. Moderate quality if a little cold. When we came to pay a service charge was added. Surely there is very little to do when making a cup of coffee. Expensive coffee PLUS service charge.

We went here for breakfast which was excellent. The quality of the ingredients was very good, especially the sausage. The service was great and the welcome very friendly.

Table booked for 19.30 for three adults, 1 child. Slow service starter took 50mins to come out, after this had to wait another 20 mins for main meal then unfortunately two meals were cold in the middle had to be sent back to the kitchen twice. When we received the bill they only discounted us one meal and still charged us nearly £10 service charge. Overall very disappointing after reading such good review. Sadly we will not be returning.

Recommended as the best place in Latham to eat. I really can’t say any more than it was ok.A menu that is not very inspiring ,food that is average at prices that are quite expensive. Staff doing you the favour serving you. When chatting to the waiter we asked what time he would finish? His reply ? “When you lot F**k off” said in jest but read your audience. It didn’t do anything for me and I wouldn’t return.

What a lovely place for the whole family, even if you just want a coffee and cake they are brill. But please do try the food. They have a great children's menu too

Visited this restaurant on 24th June Usually we go for coffe and cake and always been good but this time we were totally ignored as if invisible by staff sat 15 mins and left went to another coffee venue where we were acknowledged straight away and served it was such a better experience Know they were busy but an acknowledgment would have been fine plenty of staff We decided to go to another restaurant for lunch where we received excellent service we will never go back to Zest !!!

I had a wonderful breakfast with my friend here on Sunday. Very friendly staff and as the weather was sunny, we had a wonderful outdoor seating. The food was of good portions and tasty. I would like to express a special thank you to Sue Bamber who was very efficient and friendly in sorting a small payment issue I had. I mistakenly overpaid my bill and emailed Zest to enquire about a refund after a day. Sue was prompt in going through the previous day's transactions and refunded me the excess with in 24 hrs. That sort of service is very rare. Thank you.

Went for a family celebration place over full our party of 8 crammed into a corner on a table meant for 6 food average at best service was shocking and then they put a 10% service charge on the bill which we declined to pay, bar area stacked with dirty glasses, certain members of staff more interested in talking to " regulars" than doing their job. WON'T be going back.

Overcrowded slow and poor service. Food warm not hot not a lot of flavour. Overpriced. Watch out for service charge.

Good atmosphere and always very popular, best to reserve a table in the evening. The portions of the main courses are generous with usually well cooked, tasty food. I had the salmon this time, which was a very generous portion that I couldn't finish, although it was slightly overcooked but not enough to complain about. It was accompanied by a large amount of vegetables and a delicious hollandaise sauce. The prices are reasonable given the quantity and quality of the food. There are plenty of vegetarian options. Service is very efficient, if not a little bit too efficient making you feel like you are being rushed to turn the table. Hard to blame them as it's a popular place but if you dislike that and want to take your time it would be better booking a table later when they don't have to turn it ( as kitchen service is ending). Parking can be difficult outside as this is a busy area but you can usually find somewhere on the adjacent side streets.

Atmosphere between staff - nobody seemed happy to be there! Service poor - impatient, rude. Food not as described - no potatoes when described as having.

Nice atmosphere, good food, friendly staff, and good service.

We were charged an extra £8 and only realised until we had already left without being offered a receipt. £20 for a small plate of salad and various hams is dear enough without the "accidental" surcharge. The staff are incoherent and run around aimlessly. Really would not recommend unless you have no alternatives, of which Lytham does.
