Some of the best sushi I have ever had. Love it and well priced too!

The waiter's attitude is very kind and his smile is beautiful. The sushi is made with great skill and the ingredients are of the highest quality. Some of the newly added meals are quite unique, and the three types of sushi are our recommendations.

All foods are delicious especially Chirashi Don. Service is good.

Small and unassuming Japanese restaurant located in the heart of Cardiff's student community. Pleasantly surprised at how good and authentic the food was. Presentation, generous portions and taste - fantastic! Very extensive menu. We will be back to try the rest of the menu. Anyone craving for authentic Japanese food must come here!

Ordered the Kyushu Tonkotsu Ramen (bone broth one) and couldn't recommend it enough! This is my first time trying authentic Japanese food and it's my new go to!

I recently dined here and was thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptional, offering a range of authentic and delicious dishes that truly stood out. The food was so good that I even forgot to get the photos! Overall, it's the best Japanese food I've found in Cardiff during my many visits. Highly recommended!

Went to have lunch with my bf who loves katsu chicken curry. Great food and portions, worth the price. Authentic japanese food, I wish we have the same japanese restaurant in our city. Staff were friendly as well⭐

The food was top notch, the service was good and the staff were courteous. My first time eating Japanese food and the staff explained to me about the foods and I made a good choice. The atmosphere was electrifying but there is room for improvement and decorations of the place though.

Great selection of Japanese food in a chilled and super friendly atmosphere. Not too pricey either! Would absolutely recommend. The seaweed and cucumber salad was so simple but delicious

Food and service used to be exceptional here, but the standard has plummeted and the prices rocketed. Ebi katsu don was unfortunately a wet and super sweet mess. Delivery was late and they just blamed the driver (which I don’t believe this easy excuse), refused to acknowledge the inconvenience and 45 minute delay or offer any compensation without having to really push. Did not seem apologetic at all. I used to be a loyal customer here for several years but I’m very sad to say I will be pausing for a bit in favour of other restaurants. I’m sad that I didn’t get a chance to write a good review back when I used to really enjoy it here.

Had such a lovely evening here. This little restaurant serves highly authentic Japanese dishes, and the Yaki Udon was the best I’ve ever had. However, I felt that the service could have been slightly more attentive at times but the staff were friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return!

The service is fantastic the two waitress’ that served were amazing. Incredibly fast brining out the food and were more than helpful with things to order. I love my seafood therefore I had the 7 different types of seafood which I loved salmon being the stand out. Chicken gyoza I strongly recommend having on the side. Seaweed salad I enjoyed too something different but tastes fantastic. I will be returning and when I do I’ll order off the set menu as that looks like incredible value for money. Best sushi restaurant I’ve been to in Cardiff.

Went for the my daughters birthday and as she has just moved to Cardiff for university. We had no clue where to go for food but she loves Japanese food so after looking at reviews we both found this restaurant and as a family we wasn't disappointed the food is amazing, some of the best we have tried. Staff are friendly. A very casual vibe .

Cosey atmosphere with subtle decorations. Food is superb here and tastes fresh, lots of flavour and they use clean oil which is a good sign. Staff here are pleasent and helpful. Highly recommended.

I just had a pork ramem, the main Ramem dish, and it was delicious. The broth was very tasty and together with ginger and the other ingredients gave me a grerat nice lunch!!! The egg was perfect. The attendent was very kind. I Loved it and will be back, for sure.

Really great experience at this restaurant! I ordered two sushi rolls, katsu ramen and mixed tempura for myself and my partner and we both loved all of it! Definitely worth the price! We will be coming back again at some point (hopefully soon)

I genuinely believe YukiYan to be the best Japanese restaurant in Cardiff now. I love Japanese food anyway and having been to and eaten in what Cardiff has to offer, YukiYan tops it by far. Everytime I go, I always order a lot for myself (5 dishes ordered always each time bankrupts me!) but it's always worth it because I love the food. Traditional is always best! P.s please start making oshizushi, especially the saba kind please! I always try to order saba nigiri, so having saba oshizushi on the menu would make my decade because its been that long since I've had it!

Remarkable Japanese restaurant! If you love Sashimi and Sushi, then Yukiyan is the best place you can find in Cardiff. I have been to so many other places in town and nothing quite the same quality as this restaurant, and I went here nearly every month. The raw fish was always fresh, which made you feel safe to eat, and you'll know it was handled by a professional chef just by looking at how it was cut. My favourites are 1) Sashimi Shuriken, which is 7 types of raw fish - salmon, tuna, squid, octopus, shrimp, surf clam, and fish roe, 2) Prawn Tempura - a proper one - if you have ever tasted the original one in Japan, you'll know it's way more than just a prawn in batter. 3) Yukiyan Roll - sushi rolled with avocado and cucumber, topped with salmon, eel and cheese 4) Rainbow Maki - sushi rolled with avocado and cucumber, topped with salmon, tuna, squid, prawn and tobbiko 5) Chigen Nabe Yaki Udon - kimchi hotpot noodles with seafood, vegetables, egg and prawn tempura on top. 6) Tonkotsu Ramen and, tbh many more. The staff were always friendly and helpful, the place was clean and well maintained. Can't recommend enough.

Wow, wow, wow. I honestly believe this is the best sushi I've had. Me and my husband ordered take away sushi along with udon noodles and a rice dish. Everything tasted so unbelievably fresh and delicious and we will 100% be ordering again and look forward to experiencing dining in.

Great little sushi restaurant, we didn’t have any problem finding an available seat, but did get busy later in the evening. The restaurant is bright, has lovely decor and good seating. Choices on the menu was vast, opted for one of the set menus and order some extra sashimi and curry as sides. Set menu was great with good variety and enjoyed the curry. We both had a great time and will be visiting again. Recommended.

We had a great experience here. We ordered a selection of sushi to share. Every item we ordered was unique and tasted amazing. We both agreed it is the some of the best sushi we have ever had. We also had a pork ramen and a chicken katsu curry which were very tasty too. Service was great we will be returning again in the future.

Food was nice but one of the waiters was very unprofessional. They wanted to collect 2 of the dishes which had been finished and used a hand gesture to tell us to put the chopstick and spoons in the bowl. We even had to move the bowls closer to her but there was no communication involved which was very unprofessional. (Bear in mind she did speak to the table next door…) However the lady who took my bill was very friendly and approachable. Overall, the food was nice but didn’t have a pleasant first experience unfortunately.

Food is very good. Service is baaaaad. Like “it’s a bit cold in here do you mind closing the door?” - “yeah close it” bad. And then brought dishes in the table, left them far away from us, didn’t even bother to ask if food is okay. I don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon 🥴

I don't know how there can be bad reviews for this restaurant because it is literary my favorite place to eat in Cardiff! I have so many nice things to say about this restaurant. First of all, the staff are so nice and accommodating. Secondly, the atmosphere is so cozy and relaxing... its my comfort place to go when I've had a bad day. From the lighting to the decorations to choice of music. Third, the food is fantastic. I always order the Katsu Don and it's become my favorite food. Their miso soup always comes on the side and its so tasty too! The portions are so generous and the chicken is always cooked to perfection. Even when I order something else to switch it up (like some sushi dishes or udon) the flavors are always amazing and the presentation is just as beautiful. They also have a good selection of drinks! The only thing I would change is possibly adding in some new dessert options every once in a while :)

Great restaurant. Unfortunately they did not have Uni, which was one of the main reasons of my visit.

Not amazing, not terrible. i went the other night for dinner with my family after we found out our normal japanese restaurant was closed. the taste was okay, your average Japanese restaurant BUT the portion sizes were very disappointing and none of the dishes came with rice (we ordered some separately) but instead so much salad. for the price i would except better. the beef in the 3rd photo has more onions than meat, the taste was wonderful for the beef just waaaaay too many onions compared to meat . staff were lovely, however i will not be returning.

Rainbow maki is dreamy and so is the yaki soba was delicious. Defo recommend tho a lil pricy

Awesome authentic taste of Japan! Took away some sushi rolls for the first time, everything was carefully packed and nicely served in boxes. Definitely will buy again, and recommend this place for others!

Yukiyan very kindly managed squeezed us in at late notice despite being (well-deservedly) booked up. The waitresses were very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious- best Japanese food that I've ever had. Highly highly recommended and will definitely come again.

Great Japanese food at a very reasonable price.

There is no doubt about the quality of this restaurant's food. However they have become a victim of their own success it seems and the last three times we've tried ordering from them we've had a problem. Either we've waited 1hr for the food, the order has been forgotten about entirely, or they've 'run out of sushi rice' at 8.30pm, AFTER we've paid- so we now need to await a £30 refund!!! Every time the common denominator has been ordering after 8pm and online. If you do neither you'll be fine. If on the other hand, like us, you're not usually ready to eat before 8.30 you're running a bit of a risk with when, or even IF you'll actually get it. Sadly this is the last time for us and we won't be trying again.

The absolute best Japanese takeaway imaginable, but eating in is just as good. I'm sat here 100 miles away from woodville road literally salivating just thinking about that sexy spider maki😳, that sultry teriyaki nanban🤤 and unbelievable sweet potato korokke LORD HAVE MERCY🙌🙌. Please don't get me started on the spicy yaki udon 😫 if you're at uni and you aren't getting this hungover on a Saturday you're doing it wrong

We had dinner here, 5 of us in total on a Saturday. I ordered one of the set menus and it was lovely. My friends ordered bowls of ramen and they were huge! The food was awesome.

It is better to book a table rather than walk in. No guarantee there will be a table. Always kind of full. Food was alright. The ramen was kind of undone. Other than that everything was nice.

What can I say I love Japanese food and when this hidden gem was so close to where we were staying while in Cardiff visiting for the first time What an excellent ramen that was the best I've ever eaten and the staff are so kind and friendly can't recommend it higher if your in the area and you like Japanese give them a go you won't be disappointed I promise

Nice staff but the food was poor. Had the breaded pork and the coating was limp and just falling off the unseasoned meat. Other dishes weren't great either.

Booked in advance for a weekday dinner, and was glad we did as a couple of walk-in groups were turned away while we were there. The staff were really friendly and the food was incredible. Like really incredible. Could not recommend this place more. The price was reasonable, and the restaurant was extremely clean and felt covid safe.
