YORI (Wimbledon) in Merton

I visit all the time, last 4 years. Food is consistent but management is not. I like to be a regular at many places for the personal touch. Missing here since managers and staff keep rotating. Otherwise great.

There were 2 of us and after seeing the good reviews we drove an hour to try this restaurant. We ordered fried rice with egg, pork, beef and chicken. All the food was bland and tasteless. To be honest it was a waste of money. I think other people gave it a high rating because they had never eaten Korean food before. We paid over 100 pounds and still went home hungry. Not recommended at all. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

The bibimbap is good but our other dishes were not great. Korean fried chicken batter is really greasy and flakey and the Tteokbokki was way too sweet. Service was below standard: 2 of our dishes were completely missed (which the waitress admitted to after our enquiry). This meant one of us ate alone, as their dishes arrived after the rest of us had finished eating. A very disappointing dining experience. There was no attempt to make this up to us.

The korean BBQ was really good and everything tasted super fresh, The staff was really friendly and provide an amazing service ,we tried 3 starters too and they were really good too 100% recomended for anyone who wants to trued the experience or just like korean food in general 🙌

They serve different Korean dishes. My personal favourite was sweet and spicy fried chicken boneless. It was amazing. Their udon noodles are also good in taste. A must try place for Korean food lovers. They give 10% discount for takeout only.

Had a fantastic meal at Yori, enjoying the Prawn Gang Jung, YORI Fried Chicken Boneless Platter, and Spicy Chicken Bokkeum. The flavors were bold and authentic, with the fried chicken perfectly crispy and the prawn dish packed with delicious sweetness and spice. The Spicy Chicken Bokkeum had just the right level of heat and was incredibly satisfying. The service was fast, and the staff were super friendly, making the experience even better.

Absolute chaos - when we got to the restaurant a lot of the tables hadn’t been cleared. Once seated no one came over to explain the menu - and we had to order using the barcode.. Once ordered it took 40 mins for food to come out. They missed half our order and the half that came was cold. We never received our drinks. When we pointed out the food was cold, the microwaved it and brought it back… and it was still cold. Almost felt bad for the staff..

I always order the same dish (yuk gae Jung - it's the beef soup) from here (via Deliveroo) Depending on the night, sometimes it's more or less spicy. Tonight they added some delicious mushrooms😋 But every night, the food is always boiling when it reaches my house. There's always a lot. And every night, it's always delicious. I do prefer it on the nights it's spicier but it always leaves my tastebuds dancing. I'm normally an adventurous eater. I like to try different dishes. I've had my eye on the kimchi jeon for a while. But I can never bring myself to choose anything over the beef soup!

The Galbitang is legit. (Moreover, it’s gluten-free.) Perfect for this grey and cloudy weather. Besides, there were seats inside where I can avoid the smell of BBQ being penetrated my coat. Lastly, I appreciate kind service of Chaelim!

It was our second visit and we are very disappointed with service so many items were missing we had asked all the time. When we checked the bill, bill was £180 so we asked waiter to take out the water from bill which we didn't get as we asked them more than four times for that water unfortunately we didn't get it.Surprisingly we got the bill with total amount £235 something. I came home and checked my bank receipt I was shocked 😳 .Including service fee also I don't think it will be £235 when bill was just £180. Unfortunately we didn't bring bill otherwise I would upload it here.

Great Korean food with friendly service thanks to Natty. Will visit again for sure.

Went on the weekend for a birthday lunch. We were seated promptly but there wasn't anyone else yet in the restaurant and we were cold as we were sitting under the vent. After we took some time to decide what to eat, the waitress came to take our order and unfortunately we ordered the only thing that was not available, which they didn't tell us upfront. We then settled on the Yori platter, with pork bulgogi, cucumber kimchi and rice. The platter came with sides of bean sprouts, cucumber salad, as well as some garlic and chillies to grill. We also received a complimentary dish of sweetcorn in barbecue sauce and melted cheese. Although unexpected and free, this didn't really add anything to the overall meal and wasn't tasty enough for me to have eaten more than a spoon of it. Weirdly enough, it took them some time to serve us, as if they were waiting for us to give them the go-ahead to start the grill after we got the sweetcorn. Also, you'd think that since we're cooking the food ourselves, we wouldn't have to wait that long. Once we got the grill going, we had to ask for the rice and salad leaves to be served as it seemed they forgot them. It just seemed disorganised. The meat from the platter was tasty and we enjoyed the BBQ itself. The prawns in the platter could have been skipped all together, you could tell it was defrosted prawns and it was totally unseasoned. I saw on the menu that these can be ordered separately, which I wouldn't recommend at all. The rice was like congee it was so overcooked!! I didn't enjoy that. The amount of food we ordered for 3 was satisfying, and there were no leftovers. My biggest disappointment with this meal was the service. We went for a birthday meal, and the staff on that day was slow, their way of speaking curt, not very attentive or professional, and didn't give the impression like they wanted to be there at all. Although we enjoyed the food itself (mostly), I'll be looking for another Korean BBQ restaurant.

Update- Try Ssam Ssam right around the corner. Family owned. Authentic and reasonably priced Criminally small portions! Disappointing service Attached - two photos comparing portion of pork belly from this restaurant vs Yori near Carnaby street. I feel cheated. I will preface this by saying I am very knowledgeable about Korean food and have visited several restaurants in and out of London. I love Yori as a franchise but the experience at this branch was so disappointing. Lets start with the good - its well located and very roomy. Not surprising for the location The bad- terrible service. I was actually so embarassed as I recommended we visit here to a friend who was visiting. I just moved here so was of course thrilled to try out my new local Yori. First we were asked to be moved after we had been sat for about 10 minutes. I respectfully declined because it was inconvenient and also the reason given was strange ("move to the front so we can serve you faster???"). I wish the waiters had been honest with us with the reasons they wanted us to move because it seems after refused we were almost being "punished" for that. Regularly left the door behind us open so we were freezing! The dishes were brought out of sequence. I finished grilling and I had no lettuce which we ordered all at the same time so we could not even start eating. I had to request that to be brought out. It got to the point where I had to ask what time they close because I was wondering maybe we came too late and they just wanted us to go The food - Add to it being served out of sequence which affected the overall experience, the portions were criminally small. Again I have visited over 5 yori franchises and their food portions have been pretty consistent. I took a picture of the 12 pound pork belly after grilling (attached). It was barely enough for even one person😂. Its heartbreaking to write such a low review given that I have been such a loyal customer of the Yori franchise. Very disappointing!

I've been here a few times now and the food was delicious and arrived quickly. It was also a great experience cooking using the KBBQ table - the meat was marinated well and tasted amazing. Gerald was our server and was very professional, kind and polite! Worth a visit.

My daughter tried her first Korean BBQ here today. It was a very exciting experience. Good place to come if you want to have a small special occasion with someone :) Jerald is a great host!

Delayed review from July: we went here to get bbq, they allowed us to sit and eat without giving us any warning that the shop was closing for their break in 30mins. Around 20 minutes after we had been given our food, one of the workers came and started touching our food, putting it on the bbq so it would cook quicker - bare in mind she didn't even ask us. I was so deeply offended considering how pricey this place was, if you want me to be quicker just let us know, you don't have to start cooking my food for me or touching it! I can not believe I had to pay so much for this. This was so bad that even the other worker(with short hair) felt embarrassed and simply said 'sorry' as we were walking out.

Good place for a date, i recomend the Bong Bong drink! (if you taking the cooking by yourself thing you better be patient)

I just dined at Yori Wimbledon and was thoroughly impressed. Our host, Lavlyn, provided amazing service from start to finish. The food was absolutely delightful, and the hospitality was top-notch. We were well taken care of throughout our meal. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

The service from Rosalind, Natty, and Rex was attentive even for a very large group, and the dishes were a delicious mix of refreshing and warming.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Yori and had a lovely experience. The food was excellent—flavorful and memorable—and the service was efficient. The waiters, Natty and Rex, went out of their way to make the evening special. They prepared a dessert with a candle, offered us a beer, and even came to the table singing "Happy Birthday," which was a thoughtful touch. It was a great evening, and I would definitely recommend Yori for its delicious food and kind, attentive staff :)

dined for 5 at the Yori Wimbledon last night for my daughters birthday (not acknowledged by restaurant) although was on the online reservation. All was fine apart from 3 things one that half way through our meal we seemed to be the only people dining although a lot to do with it being a Wednesday night, two we ordered the selection of beef barbecue which apart from one piece of what looked like rump and about five thin small pieces of beef the rest was made up of not so nice pieces and tiny scragg end pieces of I'm not sure what apparently korean barbecue dont use the best cuts of meat and thirdly the price we paid £218 for 5 people who ate adequately but seemed over priced when comparing with other nights out in Wimbledon. All in all a decent night out for a not so decent price. Thanks to the team of 3 at the Yori Wimbledon who helped make the experience work while. Fernando Nieto dining in Wimbledon living nearby

Just bought a seafood soup fro Here to take away … I can heart on heart say it was the worst soup I have ever tasted .. there was no prawn snd rubber squid . The veg looked like they had been floating in water for days and were old .. No spice , no flavour .. utterly disgusting . The only thing that was edible was the tofu .. never again . This was the first time I tried Korean barbecue and it was fantastic!! Rex and Jerald were very helpful in talking my friend and I through the whole process. They provided great customer service. I really enjoyed the food and would strongly recommend, especially on a quiet weekday when the waiters have the time to explain the process and provide recommendations.

Ray and Rex at Yori Wimbledon were great and very happy to help with fitting us all in. Good quality food which was really tasty! Rex was very attentive as well with making sure our grills were on and working. It is a really fun experience cooking your own food and it makes it quite a different sort of dining event. I recommend going in smaller groups to get the full experience!

Unfortunately this is our 3rd poor experience tonight so collectively as a group we won't be visiting again. We used to enjoy going but last few trips the experience and service has disappeared. Waited 1 hour for food and tap water, they'd simply forgotten. Needed to try and remind the waitor for everything from even asking to order food through to paying the bill. No service and unfortunately food quality or value doesn't compensate for the lack of service. Waitor even forgot to give us the bill and held the door open for us to leave, until we corrected him and pushed to pay out of honesty. Just no focus on service, a real shame but we've tried a few times.

I gave this place 3 stars based on the following: FOOD: We ordered 4 meat dishes and the vegetable fried rice, we only got 3 meat dishes and the rice (explained under service point below), out of the 3 meat dishes, the garlic chicken and LA Galbi beef were great, the bulgogi beef was OK. The big disappointment was the rice, especially when you consider the crazy £8 price tag! I was expecting something full of veg and flavour and it was a very plain and gloopy, had to add salt to it also. SERVICE: Friendly but unfortunately they missed an item from our order, the item wasn’t available but they didn’t tell us, only found out when we were asking for our final course! Also, the table wasn’t cleared promptly even after we asked for the bill. VENUE: Unfortunately very run down and tired, certainly the from room where we were seated. Very dirty, stained and chipped walls, all very exposed and a rice cooker right in front of the toilet in the main corridor. I’m believe this is H&S issue probably. I think I’m being generous with the 3 stars, but trying to stay balanced and objective. I’d describe it as a nice, casual, fast, canteen, some good food if you know what to order. For £35 per head I would have expected a bit more.

We had a great time at the restaurant. The food was amazing with the barbecue being really flavourful. We tried the Beef bulgogi and Spicy chicken which was good. The manager Mr Jerald was really friendly and catered to us very well.Cheers to Rae as well for good service. Overall a nice experience.

Nice place. The chicken wings were great. You get quite a lot and the short ribs were really nice and cook quite quickly. We also had the pork dumplings which were the nicest pork dumplings I’ve had outside of my local Chinese place. The kimchi fried rice was nice! Different but nice. In terms of drinks, the cocktails were on offer and we bought two each. They were okay, I had the Crystal Clear (lychee flavour) and Strawberry Kiss. They each had little to no alcohol in them but for £4ish, I guess you’re paying for that. I would go again.

Have been a regular customer of this restaurant for many years. Dine in and take away. Have always appreciated the food and service historically has been very good. But there seems to be some predatory business practises and misinformation going on which makes me not want to return. Deciding to leave it here as a review because I didn’t want to make a scene or argue with a server over £20. It’s not in my nature to be rude. Ate at the restaurant last week and paid the bill. £160+. At that time the server came over to give me my receipt and told me of their promotion. Every £30 I’d spent this evening would get a £5 voucher to be used within a month on a following visit. He wrote £25 and signed the receipt. He reconfirmed the £25 had to be spent within a month. So I went back a few days later, ordered and then went to pay the bill. At that time the new server told me I can only take £5 off the bill. Apparently the £25 voucher I was given, despite being written and explained to me as 1 x £25, is actually 5 x £5 to be used within a month. Right. So I made a visit to the restaurant based on having this voucher, and now I just make 4 more visits within the next 3.5 weeks to redeem the vouchers! Which is ridiculous. As much as I enjoy this chain, I feel as through they’ve conned me into visiting again so soon by misinforming me of of their promotion. Or maybe this was their tactic all along. Best case scenario poor staff training, worst case scenario is just lying to get you in through the door because it’s quiet at the minute. Again, long term loyal customer here, but this has annoyed me a lot. And will now probably not be returning on principle rather than due to poor food. The £20 you saved on not giving me the credit towards my bill as explained I was due to get when it was given to me will mean £0 additional money from me again.

It was a mediocre experience. The atmosphere wasn't very upbeat. Other members on our table mentioned the food quality has decreased over the years.

just not a good experience overall. we had two bbq meat dishes, rice, lettuce, kimchi and drinks that ended up being 70£ for two people. I'd be happy to pay that price, if the portions weren't so abysmally small. for the 13£ portion of pork belly you get two slices, while for the LA galbi it's about 5 (2 of which were basically just bone). we left the restaurant still hungry. the service was good at the start (we came in when at 5 when they just opened), but at the point we were leaving (one hour later) the crew seemed to be very stressed out and not happy to be there. a suggestion to the owners, rather than focusing all your attention on cutting down the price for the items on the menu maybe try to make sure your staff and customers are happy.

If you're in the Wimbledon Area, you MUST stop by Yori. I eat a lot of korean food, but I had the best kimchijigae here. Natty, Ray, and Taejoo provided such a warm and welcoming service. The manager let us in even though they were nearly closing, so we truly appreciated the flexible service. The food is truly amazing. Thank you Yori team!
