Yaks in North Down

They put their prices up significantly and they were already expensive. The poppadoms were stale and naan bread was chopped up into small shreds, really thin and under cooked. chicken was over cooked and tough with some bad bits. I asked for no vegetables and it was covered in lots of vegetables with hardly any chicken. It started off an excellent takeaway and I gave it several chances but I can't afford to give any more at these poor standards.

Lovely meal out in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Always enjoy the food here..highly recommend the Dal Vat Masu - great dish with a bit of everything.

The order was late i do appreciate that it was on new years day and did give more time. Rang restaurant on multiple occasions and was told it would be here in 10 minutes,30 mins was still not here.rang restaurant and the guy was ignorant and making excuses of traffic. Kept saying that delivery driver would be two mins and still didn't arrive when on the phone. They eventually agreed to give food for free and refund but service was completely unacceptable would not recommend .

Watery sauce in the korma. No flavour. Obviously being stretched out for new years eve. Forgot the sauce for the biriyani so someone's dinner ruined. Annoying as such an expensive Indian.

I went here for a wonderful birthday dinner with a friend very recently. We had a lovely time and we devoured all the delicious food! I never even managed to leave enough to take home with me.... which never happens!! I already knew I loved Yaks from the few times I'd treated myself to a takeaway (from there of course), but eating in the restaurant I found the staff to be so lovely & friendly, and warm & welcoming. The food was everything I hoped and more!!!! They even brought me a birthday treat!! We chose there as we both love it plus knew it was a "safe" restaurant for me with dairy allergy. I decided to give tofu another try even though I've never liked it based on the way I've had it previously, many times.... I can safely say I'm now a convert thanks to Yaks!!!! I never knew it was possible to have it taste that good. I can't get over the amazing flavours in everything!!! We can't recommend it enough!! ❣️😋

Beautiful meal the only negative thing i can say is the bag of chips was only half full so not great if planning to share, for the price they maybe should reconsider the portion size, everything else was perfect

This was the second time we visited and the place did not disappoint. The food is fab. Authentic Nepalese/Induan cuisine and you can ask for spice levels that work for you. I would totally recommend the Momos, sizzlers and dal. Worth doing a trip from Dublin only to eat here.

My extended family and I were looking for a restaurant to host around 18 people. Yaks were so accommodating. The service was friendly, informative and extremely kind. We ordered a range of starters for the table which were absolutely fantastic. All main courses were delicious and we really appreciated the personal service we received. Food awesome and a wonderful reunion. Thank you Yaks!

They don’t make Indian food as we know it.

Dined in Yaks on Wednesday evening, lovely, friendly welcome from the staff on arrival. We were seated and our drinks order taken quite promptly. There is a very extensive range of dishes on the menu especially for the vegetarian in our family. The food is exceptional...so tasty and very generous portions. We were pleasantly surprised when we received the bill that they offer 2 for 1 on Wednesdays!!! We will definitely be returning very soon..a really lovely dining experience...highly recommend 😊

Follow up visit from last year and pleased that standard of service and food has been maintained. Onion bites or bhajis as a familiar name are excellent and freshly made with the usual accompaniment of salad which I find is decorative but inedible. We had 5 poppadums to start with but these were too much for the small relish pots of chutney, onions and raita sauce. These should be larger for and the onion relish is too spicy. Beautiful chicken madras curry and korma for mains were impeccable and very tasty. Service is good although not busy for a Saturday evening. Not cheap but very good food.

Ordered samosas to go. They did not have any dipping sauces. Had to order and pay for them extra.

Absolutely delicious food! We had the Himalayan Malai Tikka, Dal Vat Masu and Saag, as well as the Gulab Jamun and pistachio ice cream. And it was all absolutely amazing.

We are from Scotland and have previously visited Nepal, so we were thrilled to find Yaks Restaurant in Bangor during our trip. After reading great reviews, we decided to try it out, and it exceeded all our expectations. The young host who served us was exceptional. He took the time to explain the entire menu, describing each dish in detail and recommending the Momo and Dal Bhat set. Since there were four of us, he thoughtfully selected our dishes, ensuring we had a delightful variety. The food was extraordinary, with flavors that took us right back to Nepal. The Momo and Dal Bhat were especially amazing. It was a fantastic night overall, and we would definitely recommend Yaks to anyone looking for authentic Nepalese cuisine

We had dinner here as we were visiting Belfast for a concert and were staying in Bangor. The whole experience was great from food to atmosphere to value and staff. The staff member, Julia, was exceptional and very friendly. We would return if there again.

On holiday from Scotland, so took the chance and ordered from Yaks. After tasting their food I’m glad I did one of the best curries I’ve had. Will definitely be back next time I’m over and would recommend it to anyone!

Ate here on two consecutive nights on our road trip round the north of Ireland. We started with pakora and popadoms which were very nice. I had an Indian curry on the first night then on the second I had a Nepalese curry. Both were very tasty and it was good that you could choose the strength of the curries. My wife had Momo steamed vegetable dumplings on the first night which were very tasty. On the next she had a vegetable passanda which she also enjoyed. What makes this place so appealing is the staff. Kind , gentle people who take time to get to know their customers. Special thanks to Julia the waitress who is a lovely person. It was quiet both nights. I think visitors to Bangor should give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Found this restaurant by chance even better Wed evening is buy 1 main get 1 free. Food was beautiful. Presentation great staff were lovely. Very friendly . Can't wait to enjoy a take a way from here as well as going back in for a sit in meal. My 1 year old also enjoyed it also staff great with her also. Thanks for a lovely experience.

Cannot rate Yaks high enough!! The food was incredible, the lamb melts away and the Momo dumplings were a highlight. Highly, highly recommend!!

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! The food never disappoints either sitting in the restaurant or if ordering take away. Even take away food arrives hot and delicious. Eating in ....the staff are lovely, professional yet friendly, especially Julia who could not be more helpful, friendly without being intrusive. The food is really good, we have now tried many things on the menu and are never disappointed, I absolutely adore the Himalayan dishes. Reasonably priced, great service, great food!!!

Ordered takeaway from here as I had guests from Australia and wanted a really authentic curry. We were all delighted, the food and and service were amazing, food was made to order and authentic and original in it's flavour (we have had Indian takeaways before where it seems like the curry was out of a jar). Would highly recommend.

All fantastic - only disappointing thing is they have stopped doing the stamp cards on just eat and we had only one more stamp to get. Contacted customer services and they advised the restaurant have pulled out of the rewards scheme :-(

Pakora a bit oily but mostly food was nice. Can't get over the £6 delivery charge for a 2 mile journey though. I own a takeaway myself and max we charge is £3.50. Delivery driver also driving around the streets like he's a rally driver while blasting his rave music as loud as the car will go. It's a bloody disgrace, tell him to turn it down and slow down when he's driving around housing developments with kids in bed at this time of night or older kids still out playing in the street!

first time order. slightly long wait but it's Friday so no big deal; it came within the parameter. ordered a keema naan and the chicken pakheta (chicken wings) naan was lovely, the wings straight up tasted like they'd came off the bbq. 1000/10 will definitely order from again.

Had another great meal here a few nights ago. We've been several times, but it's taken until now to write a review as it's not something I do often. This place, however. is really worthy of a mention. The staff are knowledgeable, courteous, friendly and efficient and the food is excellent. It's strange (and difficult to pinpoint) how similar meals in other places now seem a bit boring and past their best in comparison to Yaks. I assume it's due to fresh ingredients and a lot more attention to detail. I'm no chef but give it a go and you'll see what I mean. Highly recommended. P.S. At the moment they're doing eat-in deals on Wednesdays and free meal options Monday and Tuesday for collection. There goes the diet.........!

I have visited Yaks two times and the second visit was as amazing as the first. Very tasty Nepalese food with very friendly family service. Sabin was so polite and interested, ensuring my needs and that of my friend, were met. Namaste

Meal quality was great as usual but it was cold so I had to reheat it….

Really lovely food- both for vegetarians and meat eaters. Well prepared tofu and melt in the mouth lamb. Great naans. Every dish can be ordered mild to hot. It was busy enough to have a nice atmosphere but good for being able to talk. They said they had a Wednesday 2 for 1 offer on main courses.

I had the best vegetarian momos here in the entire UK and India! Both fried and steamed momos are absolutely delicious! Can’t get over how delicious they were! Service also really good and staff very friendly 😊 They also have a good variety of vegetarian dishes but didn’t try yet as I was so full with the momos! Must try!

We ordered 2 Nepalese dishes and I must say they were absolutely gorgeous. We will definitely return. I never thought to try this restaurant on driving by but read reviews last night and decided to give it ago. I'm converted food and service excellent. I feel a slight adjustment for atmosphere would be to dim the lighting, but that's just my opinion. Other than that fabulous
