Yaks in North Down

I have visited Yaks two times and the second visit was as amazing as the first. Very tasty Nepalese food with very friendly family service. Sabin was so polite and interested, ensuring my needs and that of my friend, were met. Namaste

Really lovely food- both for vegetarians and meat eaters. Well prepared tofu and melt in the mouth lamb. Great naans. Every dish can be ordered mild to hot. It was busy enough to have a nice atmosphere but good for being able to talk. They said they had a Wednesday 2 for 1 offer on main courses.

I had the best vegetarian momos here in the entire UK and India! Both fried and steamed momos are absolutely delicious! Can’t get over how delicious they were! Service also really good and staff very friendly 😊 They also have a good variety of vegetarian dishes but didn’t try yet as I was so full with the momos! Must try!

GREAT PLACE TO ENJOY A NEPALI/INDIAN MEAL First class service and delicious food. Took a friend to celebrate his birthday. The Vegetarian choices were great for him and I enjoyed the lamb! Thanks, and we benefitted from the Buy one get one free main meal offer...the icing on the cake!

The food here is amazing, versatile and reasonably priced. The staff are above and beyond amazing. I really recommend it as a group dinner restaurant and the food would be perfect any time.

We ordered 2 Nepalese dishes and I must say they were absolutely gorgeous. We will definitely return. I never thought to try this restaurant on driving by but read reviews last night and decided to give it ago. I'm converted food and service excellent. I feel a slight adjustment for atmosphere would be to dim the lighting, but that's just my opinion. Other than that fabulous

My partner and I always go to Yaks whenever we are in Bangor. The food is always amazing and the staff are very friendly. Best Indian restaurant in the area and maybe even in all of Ireland. Highly recommend the Tikka Masala with Naan Bread.

Amazing restaurant. We went for my husband's birthday and had been before. It has always been good but has excelled since our last visit. The food is incredible and very reasonably priced and the staff were attentive and helpful. As husband's birthday the day after I had a cake to give him then. It came as such a surprise when Yaks presented him with a beautiful red velvet cake and sparkler candle. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

I am a Canadian visiting family in Bangor, I noticed this place on a walkabout the town. I thought the name was hilarious, I can only assume Yaks means different things in different countries. Anyway, I talked my Aunt and Cousins into going and it was just great, 5 stars across the board. We showed up not long before closing, but we were welcomed in and treated so well. The food was just amazing, very like the Indian I was used to but with some different Nepalese curries on the menu as well, and the MoMos......these were divine, fried and steamed. Julia was a really lovely girl serving us and I would recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I went for an early evening dinner on Saturday. When we arrived there was only 1 other couple in the very spacious restaurant. We were seated quickly and ordered our drinks. We had just given our food orders when nearly 100 arrived for a private party so the service slowed away down after that. We had to ask twice for drink refills. 25 minutes after our order the food arrived. Well presented and tasty food but nothing special. A few more customers arrived both families and couples. Reasonable prices comparable to any where else in Bangor. Good parking nearby on street and a car park opposite. Free glass of fizzy wine with the bill.

We got another takeaway from Yak's. The food is great and the family loved their curry. So fresh. Would recommend it to everyone

We are a group of English adult student from differents countries and we are staying in a Guess and academic Moving on course from Bangor. We went to Yak for having dinner last week and food was deliciuos and its staff very friendly with us because we didn't understand the menú and the waiter helped us for ordering.....I recomend this restaurant

Brilliant food. Really interesting menu with the Nepalese special section. Fantastic vegan options too and they made a special request tofu curry for our 4 year old. Lovely staff who did everything we asked and surprised us with an anniversary treat for the parents.

This place never disappoints. Excellent service, great menu, really clean and a nice atmosphere. You can have any dish mild, medium or hot so it's perfect for group dinners with a mix of tastes. Our kids love the food too- especially the tikka masala and naan. The gulabi dessert and homemade mango ice-cream taste just like what you get in India. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again!

A disappointing Saturday evening meal. Restaurant was busy on upper level but not so much on ground floor. Staff were very friendly. My main grumble however was that it was a good 40 minutes before we got any starters. Our main course was good however I ordered a chicken main and my husband a lamb main when it arrived both were chicken . Would I eat here again?? Probably not. Failed to meet my expectations and I left feeling disappointed.

Booking: 23rd September 2023. 7:00pm. I dined at Yaks for the first-time last Saturday evening, along with two friends. There was a good variety of dishes to choose from on the menu. Something for every palate For our First course, we decided on something light and chose Poppadoms with three dips. For the Main course, two of us decided on Butter Chicken, while our third member chose Chicken Tikka Masala. The waiting time for our order was very reasonable. When our dishes arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the generous servings. We were all in agreement that our meals were both delicious and cooked to perfection, For our desserts I decided on Sticky Toffee pudding, while my two friends both chose a selection of ice cream each. All of which were thoroughly enjoyed. We decided to skip coffee to finish off on this occasion. However, we were delighted when we were then served, a complimentary glass of sparkling wine each. Last but not least, we found the Staff to be very friendly, helpful and they carefully explained what each of the dishes we enquired about consisted of. All of the above allied to a very pleasant atmosphere, made our visit to Yaks a very enjoyable one and we all agreed, we will definitely be back, soon !

Friendly atmosphere in the heart of Belfast.

After reading very decent reviews we chose this place for dinner to avoid bland hotel food. Ostensibly Nepalese with Indian fusion the food is not for the budget conscious as each item is costed but clear enough. Starters of onion bites, onion bhajis in fact but very good with a salad and tasty sauce. Mains were chicken madras and korma, chicken was perfect but both sauces outstanding. So good we went again but I had chicken dumplings which are heralded but I found them a little chewy and not too warm. Stay with bhajis is the message. Mains were korma and tikka masala and again both were marvellous. All food is well presented in attentive manner. The poppadoms were very nice but the but the pickle dips could be larger. Would recommend this restaurant highly around £40 to 60 with a bottle of wine. Unsure if they offer set meals for lunch or dinner.

Myself and my partner ate here on Saturday night. We had steamed dumplings for starter and street food as a main course each. What can I say the food was outstanding!!. Staff were so friendly and the service was excellent. Being from Bangor I don't how I had never tried here before, but will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

If you are ever in Bangor, Co Down - this place is a real treat: the food is heavenly prepared, delicious and served with a big heart! I cannot recommend it enough!

A little noise this Saturday evening. For everything else, nothing to complain about: warm and efficient welcome, tasty food and very pretty decor!

Fabulous meal which was fresh and extremely tasty. Very attentive staff and loved the background music. Dumpling starter was very delicately flavoured and we loved the mixture of thali-style main course with roti bread. Definitely recommend!

Had a fantastic meal, beautifully cooked and spicy, the tofu and Jackfruit curries were cooked to perfection.For a gluten free vegetarian, the menu was clear and had plenty of choice for a change. Great service too, thank you Sabine (hopefully spelt it right) for a great experience.

Looking for a delicious curry, look no further as Yaks was amazing. My partner and I recent were up from the south looked on Google for Indian/Asian food and founds Yaks, had dinner here and it was fantastic. Everything was super, the food, service and feel. Would highly recommend and definitely will be back when back in the North!

Indian-Nepalese eats done flawlessly. Jolly service, great (great!) food. All the familiar classics, done to the highest standard and spiced according to preference, plus some lovely things that you don't get just anywhere. Recommend the choila and the chicken 65. Vegan friendly in a big way too.

We loved this place. The place is eclectic, welcoming and spacious... just what I like. The atmosphere and staff were great and the food is spectacular. I highly recommend this place. So many Gluten free options and wheelchair accessible (although I cannot comment on the bathrooms). I would highly recommend a visit.

Happened to be in Bangor on our wedding anniversary and decided to visit an old friend. Lucky was known to us for years in Portadown, running a successful eatery in town. We had meant to visit his new enterprise much sooner but hadn’t managed it....
