Well let’s start with the main thing food not great prawn balls was awful tons of greasy batter with a quarter of a dried up prawn inside the chow main was great and the price was nearly £18 with a can of coke and the shop itself didn’t look the cleanest but the old lady serving was nice but other then that avoid

Usually great portions but our family always feels the oil is different to what we are used to and are really uncomfortable the next day.

On my way to a job, working near Bodmin in Cornwall, on 10-5-24, I stopped in Okehampton for something to eat. I decided to try Wong's for the first time. I was impressed! Although they had problems with the card machine for a moment, when it was sorted, I got a huge piece of Cod, & chips for £10.20. It was so big, that I couldn't finish it all. 😀 I will definitely be going there again, & I will tell my friends to go there if they're in the area.

Chinese food was very average. Not really a lot of flavour. The chips were really good as was the curry sauce. Meat was very chewy.

The food is just okay, but not much choice in okehampton.

It was OK, they only take cash and some people were complaining about the chips while I was being served. But mine were OK.

No card machine, cash only. Had to go find a cash point so very annoying. Food was quick and taste OK. Not the best Chinese I've ever had.

Wongs food is always on the average side. However unfortunately my wife suffered from severe food poisoning after this order so we won’t return.

EDIT: Was 3 star until we found a hair in one of the dishes. Okay food but nothing special. No parking, cash only and didn't give prawn crackers like most Chinese takeaways do which was disappointing. Overpriced given quality of food.

Chinese is really good but getting chippy doesnt seem to be the same. Maybe finish cooking the chips first before serving so i dont have to in the air fryer! The grossest battered sausage ive ever bit into. Prices went up, quality went down!

Service was better than food. Was always taught " if you can't say something good, don't say anything" nothing to add to that other than £44 spent, most went in bin.

We fancied a Chinese and this place came up The service was like being in a bank It was really odd all hatches and doors had a good selection of food the food was quick really quick and I mean really quick it was ok nothing great

Used wongs alot before but tonight, it was awful the sweet & sour sauce was like water.... beef in ginger & spring onion was tasteless until you bit into a chuck of ginger, chicken chowmain was cold..the special fried rice was just edible...very poor tonight sorry guys

Initially looks expensive food quality is very good. Nice large selection. cooked to order Large portion sizes. A bit of a wait for an order. Nice and hot and stayed hot for a good 15mins

Pretty good Chinese food and well worth the price :) mini spring rolls were very delicious and got some fortune cookies which is always a plus. Sauces were basically liquid but that might be just a different way of doing things ... All an all a good dinner

When it comes to fish and chips, bit expensive but worth is as the fish is massive, such a shame no delivery but worth walking to them to get a meal, always happy and think they are all lovely there

Ordered several meals this evening to a lovely lady on the phone said I would be there at 6.15 it was ready by 6.25. The service was great had a free bottle of coke and some prawn crackers. Got the food home still hot and every meal was lovely so much better than either of the Chinese takeaways we’ve tried in Crediton. Congrats 😊

Always come here when wanting a take away. Friendly service, great food and reasonable prices. Great local takeaway. The amount of chips you get in a portion is more than reasonable and they taste great!

Don't go there for a Chinese, worst I've ever had and I have never given a review before but it's that bad I just had to. Chow Mein tasted of nothing BUT grease disgusting, pancake roll greasy, egg fried rice ok I suppose but I've had better. This is a LESS than 1 review. I've given the service a 1 as well, who could wrk there and serve such bad food and have the cheek to charge for it.

Average Chinese food and poor, undercooked chips. Not cheap either plus no immediate parking for collection. On the plus side, the chippy food looked competitively priced but man… those chips 😕

Wongs is the best of the best in Okehampton for Fish and Chips as well as stunning Chinese Takeaway. Forget your wrongs go to Wongs! The chips are by far the star of their menu but don't take my word for it, go there yourself!

Only commenting on my experience - can't comment on the food as I didn't get the chance to eat! Booked a chinese meal for 4 over the phone, drove 20 minutes to collect, arrived to find it's cash only! It's 2021 and many people don't carry cash now - if only I'd be told this BEFORE setting off to collect my food. Come one Wong's - go contactless!

Excellent service wonderful fish and chips

Absolutely rank. 100% the worst Chinese I have ever eaten. After a long hard day of driving to Leeds and back with over 11 hours of driving. We really could not be bothered to cook, so after finding out that our usual ‘New hot food’ was closed this evening we thought we should give Wongs a go as I’ve heard so many people rave about it. Why didn’t I just cook?!? We spent £40 and the food was disgusting, it was so watery and tasteless.. The best thing it of the whole meal was the chicken balls and they were CREMATED. Nope, never again. Sticking to ‘New Hot Food’ next time.

Best curry sauce in town and they are not stingy on the portions. Highly recommend the curry beef and egg fried rice.

Absolutely fantastic chinese food. Great portion sizes at reasonable prices. Not swimming in grease. And always service with a smile. It was a long six months during this pandemic waiting for them to come back.

Working hard under these difficult conditions there was a short wait but food was good especially the chilli beef. Only downside cash only.

Not sure how others have given this 4 or 5 stars, as this was possibly the worst battered cod I have ever had. Very little fish, and thick inedible batter. No wonder they can churn it out at £4.20 a portion. Chips were palatable, and a reasonable portion size, which is all that stopped this from being a 1 star review.

Telephone pre-order was fine. Parking very difficult, we had to park far away as there was no place to park provided. Safety measures were in place, complete with sanitizer, masks and shielding at counter. Order was ready on time. It was a 20 minute drive from where I was staying so, when I got there I realized the order was incorrect (even though the cashier and the telephone order taker had correctly repeated it). I ordered Kung Po chicken and received the chicken in chili sauce with onion. I phoned immediately and the person on the phone tried to convince me the dish was what I had ordered (Kung Po is my favorite and I have never heard of the food I got so I was NOT happy that he lied to cover up the error). The pork balls were so overcooked they were almost inedible. The “chili chicken with onion” was overcooked and was tough. The chicken chow menu was excellent! The satay beef was excellent. The portions were large and they provided complementary prawn chips with the order. I will have to think hard about going back.

Bit of disorganisation at the minute there are phone orders mixed with walk-ins.. they need someone on the door calling for the phone orders, food however is excellent 👌

Very straight forward this - good quality chinese food, good prices, served promptly and piping hot! What else would you want?

We were recommended this takeaway for Chinese food. We ordered fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, chicken in black bean sauce and beef in oyster sauce. The portions were large. When we arrived home we are the food, well part of it. Besides the chicken in black bean sauce, the food was absolutely awful and without being mellow dramatic it was the worst Chinese we have ever eaten. We will never use this business again.

Most of the time the food is really nice. We normally have Chinese which is excellent but on the occasion when we have had fish and chips, the fish has been really greasy and the batter soggy. Saying that it doesn't happen very often! They do only take cash. It does get busy but we tend to phone up and order it through.

Got some fish and chips to eat up on the moor with the midsummer sunset. Really impressed. Doesn't seem to have changed in 25 years and that's no bad thing!

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it's always heaving with people (despite there being other takeaways in town)! I'm always a bit dubious with fish and chip shops that venture into Chinese takeaways (or visa versa) but it was probably the best Chinese I've had in a while. Friendly staff, free prawn crackers and a diet coke (we spent a lot...) good chow mein, good satay beef, didn't feel like crap afterwards (always a bonus) - can't complain!!

Very disappointed chicken curry tonight, in the curry you could see plain white chicken (very streaky) all boiled with a blob of sauce added in, chips soggy sorry will not be going again, after 30 years that’s it...not very good quality and not cheap, can not say how disappointed I am please value you customers, please....

Usually buy fish and chips here and its always good and hot,with large portions.The Chinese food is fantastic as well,well worth every penny.Nowhere better in town.

Great food all round. Just a shame that their queuing system is a bit strange. You get served in a queue, whether you just come in for one bag of chips, you have to wait for the big order customers to be served first! Maybe it's me?

Stayed in lodges in Oakhampton and decided to order a Chinese takeaway meal from Wong’s in the Main Street and would have to say that the food was excellent piping hot and ready for collection as advised if you like Chinese food you will not be disappointed

down this way staying at Dartmoor view holiday park, we always when away try the local chinese, in the past we have good and bad and disgusting, wongs is the best takeaway we have had and we have had many, from the lady taking the order and i presume the same one the shop was so polite and friendly.

Being Malaysian on holiday with British in-laws I was desperate for something Asian. Your Singapore stir fry Beehoon (vermicelli) extra spicy hit the spot! I will be back every holiday. I would recommend your Singapore stir fry highly and that's coming from a fussy Malaysian is high praise.
