White horse, Hurstpierpoint in Mid Sussex

Popped in for Tuesday night games night. Fish and chip supper for £10 and a chance to play board games. What a lovely pub with welcoming staff. Definitely will be visiting again.

Enjoyed a very good lunch with friends who live nearby. Our first visit and pleased we did. Like teh environment , very welcoming staff. Great food. A couple of pints of well cellared Harveys ale too.

Absolutely fabulous Mother’s Day roast dinner lunch today at the Horse Inn and great service. The lamb was really delicious.

Truly delicious Sunday roast served with an amazing selection of veg- the creamed leeks were fabulous! Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble ❤️ Would highly recommend this pub for food and can't wait to return.

Very comfortable double/king room, fairly quirky. Friendly staff, good service with the best breakfast - locally sourced & freshly cooked to perfection. Slight issue with payment promise but rectified promptly with Lainey. Much appreciated. We'll be back :)

If you like your pub food especially meat eaters, this place is a must! 4 of us visited for New Year’s Day and I had a burger followed by treacle tart, whilst my Husband had the ribs. Our Friends had ribs and chicken wings. Both my Husband and his friend said “the best ribs they’ve ever had!” The portions are generous, food was delicious and brilliant service with a smile. Really made to feel welcome by all staff. Only problem was what to choose as so many yummy choices. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes here!

We had a fantastic family meal with great service. We were only visiting the area briefly but made to feel extremely welcome. The food was exciting as a variety of very different dishes were on offer. This meant that the experience was more like a tasting experience than just the usual boring fayre offered by many other pubs. It was also good value. I would definitely recommend it if you want great food and a friendly pub.

Food ok but £50 for 2 us having just a main course and a drink is very expensive Seems gone are days when went to the pub for a reasonably priced meeal.

My partner and I popped in for a Sunday roast a couple of weeks ago (we live an hour and an half away but stopped off on our way back from a night away) and it was honestly THE best roasts we’ve eaten out in a long, long time! The beef was cooked to perfection as was the lamb - it was just amazing, we both cleared our plates! Hats off to the chef, I think his name was Peter! The staff were all super friendly, the lady with blonde hair on the bar and waitressing was so helpful, she went completely out of her way to make our visit so enjoyable! The owners were enjoying a Sunday roast too and they were just the loveliest people - you’ve done such a good job! We will definitely be back again soon - maybe with a stay in one of your rooms next time! You’ve got yourself some new regulars, it’s definitely worth the drive! X

This pub restaurant is set in the pretty village of Hurstpierpoint. Interior is traditional with a cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately the latest menu was rather limited especially if you don’t like Mexican type food. We opted for steaks which were not priced on the menu and when asked a member of staff was reluctant to tell us, we had to insist on a price before ordering. When the steaks arrived they were very small in relation to the price and they weren’t particularly tasty, overall the meal was quite bland. One of our party had a cocktail costing £10.00 which sounded nice on the menu but in reality it was awful and undrinkable. The staff who served us were polite but there seemed to be confusion over the meals, they arrived at the table at different times despite us ordering in advance.We have eaten here previously for a birthday celebration and found it enjoyable and good value. It’s a shame that the standards appear to have dropped.

My partner and I visited this pub whilst staying in Hutstpierpoint. The staff, Katie and Harvey were exceptional!! Lovely, friendly and the chef was amazing!! If you are ever in Hutstpierpoint, Sussex, please visit this pub, you will not be disappointed.

We booked a table for 7 at very short notice. Although they were short-staffed because of sickness the service was very pleasant. The food was excellent. The meals were well designed and cooked extremely well. Well done!

I’m delighted to report that I’ve just experienced one of my nicest Sunday roasts for a very long time. I revisited the Horse Inn in Hurstpierpoint village along with my two children 6 & 10, my wife and elderly mother. I hadn’t eaten in here for over 15 years and I wasn’t disappointed. On arrival we were met by a cheerful smile and taken to our table by the new manager Vicki. The children had their drinks served promptly and we all ordered various different dishes from their Sunday menu. We had two different roasts and these were served with a side of cauliflower cheese. The rib eye of beef (pic) was delightful and cooked to perfection for my liking. The lamb fell off the leg of the other roast and tbh it was as good as I’ve ever had. The children went on to have ice cream and the point of my review was nothing was too much trouble. Thank you The Horse Inn - you will certainly see us again! I’m looking forward to the Christmas Turkey!!

We came here after being badly let down by The Sportsman at Goddards Green. Service was friendly and welcoming. Nice atmosphere. The food came in a timely manner and was obviously home made (home made pies, proper joints of meat for the roast, lovely burger) and came with a good selection of veg - including cauliflower cheese. Good place to eat and friendly service

Had to double check this was the same place as the other reviews as our food bore no resemblance to the photos on this site. Went for Sunday lunch, however given the heat wave a roast seemed inappropriate, unfortunately there was little else on offer. Chose the burger which was mediocre, overall quite dry, and served with cold skinny fries. The other option, scampi, was basic frozen scampi with the same skinny fries. Tartare sauce had to be requested. Basic chain pub fare. My main complaint however was that the front/side outdoor area where we sat was absolutely filthy with hundreds (no exaggeration) of cigarettes butts. All over the floor, multiple piles on the little side walls near our seating, and even in all of the wire light contraptions in the centre of the tables. This area had clearly not been cleaned for some time. Quite disgusting and a reflection of the lack of care. Staff were nice, but not outstanding.

Extremely disappointed with meal out tonight. Limited menu, really overpriced for a below average dinner... with no ambiance. We were the only ones there on a Saturday night, bar one table of two who came in later. Now we know why!! Don't bother. Eugh!

Empezamos aquí 12 días o así y la mayoría de veces comimos allí. . El desayuno era para aquellos que fueron a alquilar habitaciones y nos tuvimos maravillosos desayunos cada mañana. Normalmente también comimos cena. y tienen un montón de opciones, personal muy agradable y sonriente y dispuesto la comida estaba caliente. Precios eran razonables y aceptables. Muchos de sobra para beber con alcohol o con una limonada o gaseosa podría haber. . .
