The pub itself is immediately clean, it’s a shame because this food in there use to be nice around covid time, I came in today & the food was cold, overcooked & tasteless. Nevertheless the staff were lovely & our hot drinks were too.

Service was a bit slow, but not the worst, our requests had been read and taken care of to the best of their abilities, food was lovely, though the children's chicken dippers were a bit over cooked the kids didn't seem to notice, I was missing the sauce from my sunday dinner and we would have liked a bit more gravey. But I really am nit picking here, overall it was a good experience and the staff were lovely.

TJ is a very courteous young man and always smiles and has time for the pubs clients. He's hardworking and always looks smart

Chris was was our server he made sure all our needs were met and was attentive and friendly. TJ followed that up to check everything was good with our meal which it was, he was very polite.

service overall great waitresses excellent, food was great very tasty was a little loud as had live singer with guitar in the bar area, but overall enjoyed food and service especially after an 8hr drive up from south wales the day before (should have been 5 + 1/2 hours) to visit family.

Great place to eat and is always nice and tidy the food has been good when going at both quiet and busy times. Staff friendly and nice to have a chat with. Will return soon

Short staffed, long wait for food that wasnt worth waiting for really. I had a withered looking prawn salad, my partner, a rock hard steak pie. Drinks expensive, no, we'll not be back for another few years !

We have been here lots of times, the food never disappoints and the atmosphere is great. We did have to wait a little longer than usual as it was so busy but it was worth the wait! We will be back in a few weeks - thank you!

This is our new local pub since moving to Darlington in the last 6 months. The staff here are always really pleasant and go out of their way to help, especially Chris who is a member of the team there . Food is really good, atmosphere is always upbeat and we enjoy visiting this place.

What a disappointment 😞 The waitress came up and asked if everything was OK. My mother said, "No, it is absolutely disgusting," to which the waitress replied, "Well, if it's disgusting, you don't have to eat it." Mum replied, "I'm won't eat it." The waitress walked without even asking what the issues were. So, my wife and mother had the Sunday Lunch, Roast Beef. The beef was dry, tough, and stringy. The roast potatoes had a strange taste, which left a bad after taste. The Yorkshire pudding was so dry that the top half was brittle, yet the base of also tough and hard to cut. On the plus side, my potatoe soup was nice, although there was very little of it.

Great as usual. Lovely atmosphere, was quiz night but wasn't super busy and food was still delivered quickly and it wasn't too loud even with quiz on.

Did visit from Finland this Pub and it was wonderfuly! Did have good right cooked steak with chips. If you ever visit at Darlington, you need to go this pub, have few drinks and food! Staff is also very nice and friendly!❤️

Great food. Server Chris was very friendly and checked that we were happy with our meals.

We visited for a work get together. We were able to order both at the bar and via the app. The team double checked they had all our meals so that they were able to be served together. Very prompt, beautiful food and tables were cleared after we finished.

I booked online for a family birthday meal. The seating area was perfect for us, the barmaids showed our seats and helped with drink orders, they Were lovely and polite. We went over to place our food order they were helpful, and didn't rush us let us take our time. The food only took around 10/15 minutes if that, but for 7 of us all with different meals including steak I thought was very fast. The waiters who brought the food were happy to help with anything we needed. Kept coming and making sure we were happy. The food was very well presented and cooked we really enjoyed it. Once food was done they cleared up the plates quite quickly which was great as we ordered puddings, which were fantastic for the price. We ordered a range of different puddings so were able to see most of the range, and no complaints with them. Overall the experience was perfect and we will happily be returning in the future. Thank you again.

Can't comment on food, just popped in for a quick pint and was genuinely shocked to be charged £6.10 for a pint of crux campo! Madness! staff were nice thou, but I clearly don't get out enough if this is the going price for 1 pint!

We love The White Heifer. The staff are always really helpful. I have a disabled young man and he is treated with respect and care. Food is lovely.

Staff were super helpful and friendly. I would travel from aycliffe to come here more because of those two ladies.

Had a fantastic time at Stevie B’s family quiz. We come on the last Friday of the month (5pm) every month and we always have a great time at the quiz. Staff are always welcoming and there’s always something for kids and adults.

Called in white heffer today had steak and partner had fish and chips both meals were very good service great good atmosphere thank you.

Call in here quite regularly when attending Local hospital, food is always good and never had any issues about the staff or service. This visit the wife went for the surf and turf, which was perfectly cooked steak to medium rare finished off the last of her generous steak and it was full of flavour without the over seasoning done by some chefs (personally if I want salt and pepper on my food I like to add it myself). I had the ultimate spicy burger which was not cooked to death and nice and moist, no complaints from us 😉

Just a normal pub nothing really to write home about, food ok.

Met with family for a meal, parking is limited at the pub but there is plenty of alternative parking at neighbouring shops. The food was quite nice with reasonable size portions. My daughters steak was overcooked, but the staff happily replaced it. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only negative I can say was that service was slow, we waited over half an hour for our main course to arrive and then maybe 45 minutes for our deserts.

Just a normal marsdens establishment, not very exhilarating, food not the best, not the worst, personally, I don’t care for Marsdens at all, and would be happy if I never went to one again. but the people I was with wanted to eat here. Do not get the apple crumble. The guy told me he microwaved it, it was so hot it burnt my tongue, and it was disgusting.

Took my granddaughter after school ,for our teas,we had been recommended to go here as was told they are really good with children and the food is great Well we weren't disappointed ,service ,food ,being looked after and staff were great! So happy we went and we will be back and definitely recommend it to our friends

Called in after a traumatic trip to the hospital! We were treated to a very friendly efficient member of staff ( didn’t get her name) , she took our drinks order, then food order promptly. All food arrived quickly and really tasty. The food & drink was cleared quickly between courses by the same member of staff who was friendly and welcoming throughout!

Amazing when the suns out everyone comes alive. We travelled the cable car to find the parascending of the mountain. Due to the queues we couldn't do this but the restraint next to this was brilliant. Just when you wouldn't think a hen party could be 6000m above sea level. Absolutely today, the breath taking scenes. One bad .point is the crows stealing your food but all else was class place and will always be remembered.

Overall a great family pub with lots to offer. Food is excellent and good value. The staff can’t do enough for there customers and there is always plenty to do with the kids and various entertainment nights for adults and children. Very friendly atmosphere :) love coming here

Very warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and lovely food

Table booked for 7pm. Only found out when we got there that last orders were at 7.45 so by the time we'd finished main course it was too late to order dessert. Granted, we could have ordered dessert at the same time as the main course, but you don't really know if you're going to want dessert till you've finished the main course. If we'd known beforehand we probably would have changed to an earlier time.

Used to be a regular but food went downhill so haven't been in for 2 years Decided to give it a try The food is even worse Made Weatherspoons look like Masterchef The fries were tasteless and greasy and no evidence of potato Absolutely terrible Bun for burger rock hard on top , burgers tiny and well overcooked ! I could go on but I'm getting queasy thinking about it !! Staff were lovely but won't be eating there again

Came in for dinner!! Food was excellent as I've heard there's a new chef on board made our meal perfectly and the service was exceptional. Great place to eat with the family will definitely be back.

Very rarely come here due to us not living close to the pub, but we were meet with a warm and friendly staff, who took the time to make sure everything was ok.

Food ordered and arrived within 15 minutes which was very good. The wait at the bar for drinks however is unacceptable, waiting for nearly 10 minutes is not really acceptable. Only one girl serving and she was under pressure but she really performed well. Really need more bar staff.

Worked here as a chef, very busy, staff are all decent and most of the management are very approachable! Enjoyed the majority of my time there! Meats and fish are all brought in fresh!

Food was ok, service good. Not all dishes on, used a 30% voucher or would have been really disappointed with the food at full price.

We arrived just before 5 pm to find a very busy pub and 1 young disinterested woman behind the bar on the phone talking about the beers being sold. One other young man was swanning around but although he went behind the bar a couple of times, he didn’t make any attempt to serve any of the growing number of customers. Eventually, the young lady finished her phone call so my wife spoke to her to inform her we had a table booked but was told that she would be ‘with us shortly’ and turned to another lady who had come to the bar after us to place a food order. We couldn’t see any other staff so it appeared that table service was out of the question. Having already waited some 10 minutes to be served, we decided it wasn’t worth waiting any longer and went elsewhere. We won’t be back I’m afraid. We had received a promotional leaflet to this pub and had decided to give it a try but it failed our expectations dismally.

Its a lovely place to go .They have specials on during the week.Very good value. Staff are friendly especially the waiter who has been there quite a while he's thin and wears glasses . Forgive me I have forgotten his name. Well done 👏 to the White Heifer team xx

The atmosphere is a tad rowdy as you would expect of the average pub but most times it’s generally quiet. The service is normally a bit slow but occasionally it moves fast if you’re in before schools are out. I personally found the meat to be generally quite fatty but there are alternatives to meat as you expect. Overall it’s ok but I wouldn’t have for example a birthday there.

This beef burger is incredibly juicy, with the cheese and sauce providing a creamy texture. The bacon also enriches the flavor profile, but most importantly, the shredded meat and chili peppers add a generous amount of spiciness that blends well with the other flavors. This is the best burger I've had in recent times.

Lovely place to eat and have a drink, we took our daughter and kids over for a bite to eat and a few drinks. It has been a while since we were last in the Heifer but will use it more regularly. We all enjoyed our visit.

Very busy. Great atmosphere. My other half enjoyed his food. But my sausage mash and gravy was rank. Sauagses tasteless. And the most watery gravy iv ever seen.

Wow. Late service, filthy, cold, no atmosphere whatsoever. worst Sunday dinner I’ve had in a long time. Laughable. My favourite highlight was the cheesy tortilla chips, 3 portions, none of which arrived with cheese. Just tortilla chips.

I have been visiting this pub with my son who is 25 for the last 10 years and Collette (who is lovely) and the majority of the staff have been great… tonight after being in the pub for 6 hours a new member of staff decides to ID my son, even though he has been served for the last 6 years and 6 hours today! no one then is allowed to even serve me?? After 7 years of serving him??? To say I’m annoyed especially after 1 staff member chose to tell me who I can talk to is a understatement… very disappointing and surely if he needed to be ID’d it should of been at 2 o clock?? I dont usually do bad reviews but tonight…. I apologise to you Collette as it’s not your fault… keep up the good work … sad to be writing this review… ☹️
