Wetherspoons Oxford Road in Wigan

I ate here with some work colleagues during a recent stay in the city. The pub was close to our hotel so a great location in the heart of Manchester. It was a pretty busy pub given it was a Monday but we managed to find a table close to the bar. We all ate and enjoyed a couple of drinks. Food quality was pretty good, my pizza was tasty although one side was not as crispy as the other. Really miss the chain removing hot sauce from the condiments as I like my pizza spicy and always added some hot pepper sauce to my pizzas but sadly it seems Cholula or Tabasco is no longer available. Drinks were good value as you would expect from Wetherspoons. Overall a pleasant meal experience.

It’s a decent Wetherspoon…..yes they do exist Vast pub, very busy, great atmosphere, good service and the prices don’t break the bank

This is a place. We had only used very occasionally in the city centre as it always seemed way too busy. We called in a month or so ago though and had a great time so our return visit was always on the cards. This latest one was early on a Thursday evening And it was ticking over nicely. We managed to get a table by the window which is great as you see all the chaos of the work traffic and commuters exiting the city in a rush. The service is fast and friendly and you get excellent drinks associated with this brand. The Bill is often nearly half the price of other central bars so it really is great value.

I was in here a year ago for a break from a health and safety conference at Manchester Central. Decent pint as always in a Wetherspoons. They do a good ale! Got my 50p off with my CAMRA vouchers.

Someone next to us was vaping and a worker took all our drinks of us and told us to leave n said it was us vaping

This isn't a place we visit much, but when we do, we enjoy it. It is very centrally located near Oxford Road and that means it gets extremely busy. It is to the great credit of the Pub that you never have to wait long to get served though as this plenty of staff.they have the usual range of well priced drinks and some excellent guest beers. It is a big place, but the best seats without doubt of the stools over by the windows. From here you can enjoy having a drink or two whilst watching the madness of Manchester go by.

We, three friends who work for the ambulance service and work shifts, finally managed to get a date together to meet and have a dinner/drink date. We came here for a cheap and cheerful change. We ordered food, we had three rounds of drinks plus a shot each (we had two years of making up for-when you work different shifts it’s difficult to organise a get together!) We were polite to staff who served us, we were no problem generally, yet when we came to order our fourth round of drinks, we were told we weren’t going to be served because we’d “had enough”. We questioned if we’d upset anybody: staff or other customers…..we were told no, there were no complaints, they just deemed we’d had enough because we were “a bit loud!” Now, we are a trio of cacklers, we like a laugh, but not at any point in my 39yrs on earth have I been refused a drink for being “too loud”. I’ve been out with these two ladies for the last 8yrs in different Spoons and never once have we been refused to be served alcohol.. It was a bizarre power trip, which was potentially triggered by two of us in the group being gay. There was no other reason for the complete refusal to serve us alcohol when we did nothing wrong and we’re just enjoying an overdue catch up. I wouldn’t step foot in this dump again if it was the last bar on earth, I’d rather die of thirst than pay their staffs wages, when they have the disgusting attitudes they displayed today. Avoid at all costs, especially if you’re LGBT and just looking for a cheap bev with your mates. Pay a bit extra at somewhere more inclusive. Thanks for unnecessarily spoiling an overdue reunion between me and my two friends for the sake of some weird power trip. The set of 8 men at the table next to us that were playing cards were loud AF, but that was obviously ok. You’re a bunch of absolute cranks!

Honestly wouldn’t bother coming here for any kind of occasion been here multiple times but the most recent one was my best friends birthday! All outside we were polite and understanding of staff as we were told we couldn’t be outside with glass so had them changed to plastic. Was no hassle. Wasn’t until later when they closed the outside that my group was told a few of the males there were acting suspicious in the toilets, we had only just found our table, and are very much a anti-drug use group as they implied. The staff were rude woman ruined the night had no real reasoning behind kicking us out besides assuming we were doing some form of drugs!!! Very unprofessional won’t be returning and hope the woman who almost made one of the girls in the group cry gets sacked!

When in Manchester this is one of my favourite places. One of the better Spoons in my opinion. However, I do not understand why customers form a queue to get served. A leftover from the stupid Covid rules maybe? It's the only pub I visit that does this-there are no signs saying you should. It's a long bar, normally with several staff serving and so I go straight to the bar and get served quickly, no problem. Yes I get told to queue by punters sometimes and I respond appropriately!

Good breakfast and very quickly served despite being very busy, one of the better spoons around. Will be back.

Bobbed in here for a couple of pints and food with my uni friends Ryan and Edana. The drinks were served promptly. There was a bit of a delay with my dish being served, but when my boneless basket finally arrived, I was satisfied. Outdoor seating available but unfortunately too full on this occasion.

Your pizzas are soggy and undercooked! The base is just white with no colour. Turn your oven up!!! Don't worry it's not just your pub it's all weatherspoons. Something should be done as quite clearly a money maker!

Spent a lot of time in here over 3 days for Breakfast, Drinks. Busy Busy site and found service and food to be absolutely fine. Only annoyance is having to use plastic glasses in beer garden, ruins a pint.

We came here for a cooked breakfast. It was a tasty generous amount and hot drinks were refillable. We had 2 small breakfasts (which weren’t small!), extra hash browns and hot drinks for £12 for the two of us. Very good value.

“Manager” told us to take our glassware inside minutes after being brought them by a member of his staff. The same “Manager” also proceeded to drop umbrellas on me as he brought outside seating indoors. Usually enjoy this pub, not so sure now… x

on arrival meeting people already inside - with no queue and people leaving - we were told of a 25 minute wait as it was so busy inside. However, after a few minutes we were told that we could enter - I think we'd arrived at the end of a busy period and managers wanted to let staff have a breather ? Anyhow, it was 75% full but service was quick; the beers were tasty and the prices always good. Staff were working very hard: well done to them.

Me and my partner visited yesterday for lunch I ordered a ham and cheese panini and unfortunately it did come burnt but the chips and garlic bread we ordered were nice, staff were friendly and polite when coming over with our drinks and food we’ve been here many times before and never had a problem yesterday must of just been a bad day like I say it was just my panini that was burnt. The gentleman on the door yesterday wearing an orange high vis he was an older guy he was really welcoming and friendly! (Didn’t catch his name unfortunately) But we will be back again as we’ve had good experience previously.

Came here for a quick dinner one evening. I recognise this is a wetherspoons and so I’m not expecting 5 star service but what happened was a joke. We were told on arrival that there was a 30 minute wait for food and drink which we were happy to wait for. We ordered food and drinks (non-alcoholic) and waited over half an hour for our food to be bought out stone cold and before our drinks. We asked the waiter to check on our drinks for us and he said he would go get them now but he never came back to our table and we saw him behind the bar stood on his phone. We then had to wait another 10 minutes to try and get someone’s attention to ask them to redo our food as it was stone cold. We also saw our drinks sat on the bar for over 20 mins with no one bringing them over to us. In the end we never got our drinks and so we asked for a refund and left. I appreciate that it’s the first time reopening since lockdown but hardly any of the staff cared and were just talking amongst themselves not doing any work .

Our first time socialising since lockdown was lifted, and I could not fault any of the staff here. So helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you so much.

When I arrived it was extremely quiet. There was a guy in table in front who was very well intoxicated and ordering lots of drinks withput food. There was also a group of 8 who were agin not within tier 3 rules. I asked when I came in what the rules were and was told as long as you order food with drink it was within rules. I queried 2 drinks with starters, 2 with mains and 2 with desert would be OK and he said as long as ordered at same time as food is ok. To be honest we just fancied some drinks but understand rules are rules. Ordered starters with 2 drinks each - no issue. Ordered mains with 2 drinks each. Now this manager comes over and says in a rude manner"thats your last" when we queried what she meant, she said "4 drinks per customer per day end of"She did same with table next to us who then asked about the guy in front and group of 8 on left, reply was "we can't control everything" What a rude woman. Using her logic its 4 drinks with each meal, we didn't even need to order starter & mains - what a waste of money. I visit many wetherspoons with work per month and love the friendliness of them but this was something else. I got the distinct feeling they just wanted an easier life and didn't want customers. I understand rules are from government but they need to be consistency in them, you can't ask one member of staff and then be told off for following his guidance. Needless to say won't be back, it is actually the most expensive wetherspoons ive ever been to (which includes london ones)

Came in with my partner and housemate for lunch, the "manager" if that's what you could call him was very rude and patronising regarding the rules. Obviously had no clue what he was doing or how to treat customers, we were told that there is a "3 drink maximum and then you have to get out" every time we ordered a drink we heard them complaining to the lovely member of bar staff (long hair, Essex accent,think his name is george) about how many drinks we were having, bearing in mind we ordered 4 rounds (which is what we have been advised by every other weatherspoons we have been in since the new rules were implemented and he moaned on every single one of them. Bearing in mind these 2 "managers kept going to another table asking if they wanted more drinks and they had so many glasses on the table, obviously more than the allowance allocation per customer. Not sure if it was because they were a table full of females and we could hear them saying how "fit the birds on that table are" (Will add a pic) also heard the way these 2 managers were speaking to there staff, not sure if they are aware that the staff are human beings and not something they stood in outside. Honestly would not visit here again unless the "managers took a customer service and basic management course. Thanks for a horrendous visit. Friendly staff, very covid 19 savy. Staff member on door a bit rude to a colleague who appeared to be new. Think that was a tad unprofessional as we stood there waiting to be seated. Food ok and good value.

Popular with students and nearly always busy because this is a very good Spoons, for both food and drink at a very reasonable price.

Mi esposa y yo viajamos a Manchester dos veces al año, para citas en el hospital, así que nos quedamos un par de noches. Tenemos que comer en algún lugar, así que The Paramount es el favorito, además de ofrecer cervezas de búsqueda.Estuvimos allí el domingo y el lunes, debido al virus covide la experiencia fue muy diferente. Creo que el personal hace un trabajo brillante, lo dirige a una mesa, después de registrar el seguimiento y la localización. Pedimos servicio de mesa, que era de primera clase, la comida era buena y caliente, nunca tuvimos una mala comida en ninguno de Weatherspoon, o cerveza, y tenía muchos. Debido a las restricciones, nos sentimos seguros. Volveremos a nuestro local la próxima semana [The Boot] para llenar nuestras botas, bueno, mi esposa vende zapatos.

With COVID -19 rules being asked to hand sanitise..this is what I was met with today..covered in flies, table covered in flies aswell. The sanitisers should be cleaned every half hour LEAST!! Absolutely gross!! Please rethink about your sanitary.

The food is excellent overhear hygiene and cleanliness is remarkable I'll give a big Thumbs up to this place.

On stop over. Went for breakfast on my own & used the app to order (useful). Eggs Benedict looked good but eggs were cold inside. So waitress brought me another. Eggs were still not hot but by then I wanted to eat. The kitchen doors were about 5 paces away from my table so I don’t understand how they could have cooled that quickly. Use Wetherspoons a lot. I will also know in future that you have to add the tea to the breakfast deal (which includes a tea or coffee).

Never had high expectations of Wetherspoons but it was shocking, the nachos looked like someone had already been eating them, one of our plates (halloumi fries) didn’t come. Man that served us brought a lovely side of attitude. Would avoid like the plague

Popped in here for breakfast last Sunday. Although the food was tasty and great price, it could have been hotter, perhaps even warming the plates would help.

Hubo un problema con la aplicación, solicitaba la orden mi banco se la cobraba y no aparecía en el historial de pedidos, me dirigí hablar con un encargado que me hizo volver a pedir delante de él, se volvió a cobrar la orden sin sin aparecer en el historial y el encargado no puso ninguna solución, nos tuvimos que ir sin comer, habiéndose cobrado dos veces lo mismo, aún diciendo que pondría una reclamación no hicieron nada así por decían que era problema del banco, llame al banco y estaba todo correcto y el cargo realizado no una si no 2 veces por un importe total de 34 euros.

We had been next door in turtle bay which was fab as my friend was celebrating her birthday so to finish the day we went in here. We were having drinks and then I put a pic of our table number and tagged us all and send anyone feel free to send drinks (on Facebook this is) we received some mushy peas shots and a cocktail. Later on a young lad came to our table with a plate of cheesy chips and we asked on numerous occasions was he sure they were for us and he said yes, we ate them. About 30 minutes later he came back and said they weren’t ours and would have to pay. I was not willing to pay as we clarified if they were for us and as people had been sending us stuff we thought nothing of it. The supervisor came over and said we had to pay which we again refused so he said we have to leave. It was a portion of chips not a three course meal we ate and the way that Damien spoke to us left my friend very upset and had put a dampener on what was an enjoyable day. So thanks for embarrassing us and ruining our day Damien. Wetherspoons staff training in how to deal with customers is needed For Damien in my opinion.

My daughter and I just arrived in Manchester ahead is a midweek game and dropped into The Paramount for a snack lunch before heading to the Trafford Centre. We ordered from the bar and had the ‘Any 3 Small Plates for £12.50’. We both had a 8” Pizza and shared 10 chicken wings washed down with 2 WKD for a fiver and two Hooch again, for a fiver. Everything was as expected, thinnest Pizza ever but tasted good all the same. You can bead a WD for quality and price.... good.

This isn’t my favourite Wetherspoons in town but it is still worth a visit. Although it lacks the character of some other pubs it still offers the same things that you get with this brand. A fabulous range of drinks at amazing prices for the city centre.It is big and modern inside and they do offer tableservice. It’s quite easy to get served if you don’t have the app although the Australian Barman could be a bit more friendly!Overall though, It’s a nice place to have a beer or two in the city centre.

One of the staff is a scammer. This is around the 4th time the staff here at this Wetherspoon has short changed my wife and I by £2. He hands the money over expecting the customer not to count the amount BEEARE of it in this joint.

Hello went in on the 29th december,Asked for a brandy,they said they had ran out,of both brandys.Asked for a coos light they had ran out.Asked for a bud light,ran out.Some of the food was not available.Very disappointed.Bad management.

In terms of decor etc it's just like any other spoons. If all the spoons we've been in this was bt far the best for service via the app. Drinks were always served really quickly, not the usual 20 minute wait. Very good.

While visiting Manchester we started here for breakfast, after being told my partner couldn’t replace something on his plate for something without paying extra (we were ok with this but at this point I knew the customer services wasn’t going to be good) then we were told that they ‘don't serve pancakes’, we pointed it out on the menu and were asked was that all, we at least expected an apology of some for because but no, then the lady pulled a face when we asked to add strawberries to the dish! We took our seat and waited for the food. The breakfast was all there but wasn’t very hot, the pancakes looked lovely but were extremely hard around the edges & syrup wasn’t hot so had formed a skin on top Over all a lovely looking place but we were left unimpressed

Great choice of drinks and food in this City Centre Wetherspoons. Busy as usual but the staff were on the ball. Not gouret food but hits the spot.

Ate here early evening whilst staying in a nearby Manchester hotel. It’s quite a large venue with two levels though I didn’t see upstairs.There was a wide mix of people of all ages which was good to see. I ordered a pizza with a free pint on their app which is very convenient and stops the need to queue at the bar. The pizza came very quickly and was really nicely cooked. Thin and crispy and very tasty. The only negative for me was the layout of the tables which was a bit perfunctory and the noise levels which seemed to reverberate. Other than that another Wetherspoons to add to my list. I love how what Wetherspoons offers is so consistent from one pub to another.

El fin de semana pasado almorzamos tarde aquí antes de viajar al estadio Etihad. Se encuentra a la vuelta de la esquina de la calle. Plaza de Pedro Estaba bastante lleno, sin embargo, logramos encontrar una mesa. No había servicio en la mesa (al menos no en el área donde estábamos ubicados). El almuerzo fue simple, pero bueno. We went to the Paramount on our way back to the station for a drink Nice interior with a vibrant atmosphere and drinks are good with an excellent selection both wine spirits and real ale. Close to the theatre's and restaurants well worth visiting.

Visited this venue as I was seeing a matinee at the palace theatre which was virtually next door. I ordered a wrap and my sister ordered a chicken wrap but left half of it as it was very dry, she did complain and the staff asked her if she wanted anything else but as we were in a rush we just asked for 2 coffees, she kindly obliged so service was good but it’s really a place where you get what you paid for! I am not really a fan of Wetherspoons it’s ok if cheap n cheerful is your kind of thing.

Large place. Ordering scheme interesting: at the bar, giving one's table number, or via app. I checked out several tables before sitting down, they were all visibly dirty. I had the quinoa salad, chicken on top, it was OK. Visible junk on the carpet as well, allover. The place is big, with high ceiling, thus becomes very noisy. I just ate to get it over with and get out of there as quickly as possible.

This Wetherspoons fills a need. It's a vast pub with lengthy bar. Just popped in for a quick drink with my wife early on a Sunday afternoon just after the lunchtime rush had cleared. What can I say.... these Wetherspoons prices are very modest, especially for the City. £1.50 for a coffee and £2.69 for a pint of the excellent guest ale - 1872 Elland Porter. Superb!

Lovely Wetherspoons old cinema. Enjoyed their Gin Festival offers, the chance to try (4!) different gins for a total of £15! Astonishing value and good service.

Wetherspoons are known for good basic food ,excellent choice of drinks and good value.I am a frequent visitor, as i know what to expect and the ladies are usually very clean.I visited with my three sisters last night.Two of our meals were fine.I ordered Chicken breastburger and chips, the burger was ok but my chips were cold.My sister ordered the curry, it was Tepid and the Naans very cold.I called the waiter over he apologised and took them away.I had a fresh Chicken burger with some extra chips and some of my own these were obviously reheated.My sisters curry was delivered with steam coming off it so obviously not tepid.Unfortunately my sister had already tried the tepid curry and has had an upset stomach all today.This has happened to myself in the past, which is a shame so i never order a curry.When this happened the pub wasnt very busy, we had got served reasonably quickly, so i dont know why it was served cold. Make sure your curry is piping hot when you get it, or it might upset your tum .

We were staying at the nearby premier inn. We popped in for a drink on the way home one night. Very busy, good atmosphere. V cheap and service was good. We didn’t eat here. Would recommend if wanting a cheap drink and friendly atmosphere.

Excellent breakfast at this impressive 'spoons in Manchester. Well cooked, hot, fast and friendly service, great value. Tables appeared to be clean and quickly cleared.

Good spot for sitting outside and watching the world go by. Usual good service, and great selection of food and beers. Another one to visit again.

Pleasant enough branch of Wetherspoons, decent (and very good value) ale range and the standard menu. I couldn't access the wifi here for some reason (The Cloud), it's worked in every other Wetherspoon branch I've been in.

Visited with my wife a tea time had two cocktail jugs ....the quality was poor However we had 3 sharing courses which were excellent

If you're familiar to wetherspoons you know what to expect. This is ideally located in the centre of Manchester so it was a pleasant place to find when we got caught in the rain. Good value and good service. Can't complain.

Could not believe this was the scruffiest bar we went into last week but the most exspensive £9.25 for a vodka and soda and bottle of peroni elsewhere it was £7.50 The food looked awful

This is a very nice place to visit for a drink or a meal plenty room big selection of food we had breakfast lunch and evening meal there drink prices pretty good . Monday prices low this is a busy place with a great atmosphere staff friendly well worth a visit

Always busy and perfect for drinks - we always use the app and then don’t have to queue at the bar ;)

You know what to expect and that’s what you get. Cheaper still on Monday nights for beer. All as expected.

Visited tonight a Tuesday should be steak night arrived at 7.15 to be told no steak as sold out , order a different dish . Then order an ice cream no ice cream either ?! Staff are lovely and so was the manager feel really sorry for theThat Wetherspoons can’t get their act together for this very busy city centre pub .5 stars for the staff no stars for Wetherspoons
