The food was awful. Chicken like rubber, rice without taste. Salt and pepper chips just chips with a sprinkle of something. Feel that the staff tried to short change me deliberately. Lady looked guilty. I never complain about anything but felt compelled on this occasion

Lovely food. Great portion sizes. Crispy Chilli chicken is my favourite. They always give us a free bag of prawn crackers too. Our favourite Chinese takeaway. Update: New items added to the menu

We had plain chow mein which was quite good but we also had egg.fried rice which was more like Cus Cus and we also had a sausage which was revolting. My husband said worst chinese he has ever had. Never again.

Food bland, salt and pepper chips embarrassing. Not going back and I'd advise anyone to try elsewhere.

Sort the chips out they were the worst dry cardboard offerings I've ever had.

I’ve had food delivered tonight and all I can say is this is the best Chinese I’ve had in a long time. We had the seaweed and bbq ribs sweet and sour with rice Singapore vermicelli and fried noodles. The chicken melted in our mouths. Service was great. Thank you so much we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely order again.

We pre-ordered a meal giving an hour notice the meal turned up 35 minutes late I didn’t get so much as an apology. The Food was bland to say the least I won’t be going back,I spent a few Bob there being treated like I don’t matter is not acceptable

Szechuan was extremely salty, inedible. Salt and pepper chips were okay at best. Very disappointing

Sorry but this must be the worse fish & chips we have ever had. I asked for lightly battered and it was thick gooey batter with awful fish inside. Wouldn't like to guess what fish it was. The chips were also inedible, no potato inside the chips. Maybe I shouldn't have gone to a Chinese for fish & chips.

5 stars all round, this truly is my fave place to order from, staff are lovely and always get my food hot within the delivery time! Never ever disappointed with out meals!!! Cant recommend this place enough

Big portions, loads of meat, I usually go for the special chow mein or curry. Decent price. Always spot on for me.

Absolutely tasteless and cold. Had to microwave everything. Was always good but gone down, so wouldn't go again.cannot find how to add another review so writing with last post. Bought 2 battered fish yesterday 7th July and they where without a doubt the worst fish we have ever had, absolutely tasteless and long disgusting rubbery spine bone in both fish. Paid £9.40 and we thought after such long time must be better but no its worse.

Have eaten here the past 2yrs. Have noticed last few time food on certain days are awful. Ordered normal food today (spring roles) have given my partner the bug...and the salt n pepper chicken had no condiments in it. Sent out another snp chicken and it was worse. Must say think it is going down the pan a bit

I've always recieved a fast delivery and great tasting food whenever I order from here. My personal favourites are the Satay Chow Mein and Shredded Chilli Chicken. I only wish they would would offer some free prawn crackers for deliveries, especially for regular customers like myself.

Im giving them a one because I have to, if there was an option to give a minus I would give them -2.5. I asked for fish, chips and curry sauce, the most important in that list was the curry sauce and they couldn't even give me that. The fish was more batterd than my wallets after paying £5.80 for this utter abomination of a classic British cuisine.

Ordered from here tonight, all I can say is I will never order from here again. I ordered chips with the meals had to throw the 3 bags of chips in the bin they wasn't edible rock hard and cold warm ups. I rang to be told they didn't understand how it happened, lost a customer & got another bad review. The only reason they have 1 star is I couldn't post with no star

So sad to say this but I will not be ordering from here again. I ordered chicken chow mein last night but it came with no chicken. I rang to tell them and they opologised saying they would send another one as soon as possible. When the delivery came they asked for the other chow mein back?????? Why would you want food back that had obviously been opened and had been partly eaten by a customer? Sorry to anyone who ordered a chow mein yesterday, you probably got some of mine mixed in. Think this was disgusting!

Love this takeaway, I come from Liverpool to visit family always come here, Always been great food and free prawn crackers, We are spoilt in Liverpool for fab Chinese takeaways, Always find it hard in Wigan to get a good one but this is great👍

Regular customer always get food delivered and order the same dishes every time so know exactly what I am asking for, but the last order was wrong and even though I paid the right price for what I ordered they refused to admit they were wrong and were very rude. Will not be ordering again

If you go here, you absolutely HAVE to get the salt and pepper chicken, it is the best I've ever tasted. Never anything wrong with the food, and they kindly deliver to our address where no one else will. Top notch Chinese.

I ordered food last night was order number 36 i got 2 prawn toast salt an pepper chicken which wasnt the best at all special fried rice with chips didnt eat the special fried rice because there was a big chicken wing in it what kknd of special fried rice has a chicken wing in it not happy what so ever as i paid 28 pound odd for it

Food (5*) however my review is over service. This is a long rant but hilarious. What a shambles tonight was. If i could give zero stars for this evenings events i would. The customer service was terrible. I would normally fully recommend this place for service and food but tonight has seen me consider whether I would ever return due to the attitude of the female employee on the phone. We ordered our food for a family of 6 at 7:20pm. It’s a Friday night so when it’s arrived at 8:25pm I was a bit disappointed but could understand on a busy evening. However when we got it inside to serve up it wasn’t our order. We rang immediately and the shop already knew of the mistake, our food had clearly been delivered to the previous address and they’d complained too. They acknowledged the mistake and asked if when the driver returned with our food could we return the bag we had. OK but already concerned our food would be cold we waited over 30 minutes more. The driver finally returned clearly frustrated and looking drained claiming the shop had messed up the tickets, where the shop was blaming the driver for mixing up the bags. The food was cold, obviously, but we were still expected to pay full price with no offer of full or partial refund, or in fact new food. They had said however we could have a discount next time. I wasn’t happy, the driver completely understood, took our food back and refunded us. I rang the shop explained that I’d like to reorder for collection. I left and collected. At the shop I was given my food and not asked for payment. The right outcome many would suggest as it had been 2 hours since my original order. I returned home and we enjoyed a late but happy meal. 9:15pm my mobile rings. “Hello it’s the takeaway. When you collected you didn’t pay”. “Yes I know that I assumed you offered the food as an apology”. “No, we thought it was paid but the driver gave you a refund, we don’t give refunds”. I was astonished. They explained that I was offered discount on my next order. I cheeky explained I had cancelled my order and reordered therefore this was my next order. “Ok well you can’t have it for free. I’m sending driver to collect money”. I said No explained again and was hung up on. I rang back of course. Spoke with a Manager in detail who finally accepted they’d messed up and allowed me to have the food for free. I can accept human error. The driver mixed the bags up, maybe the girl in the shop put the wrong ticket on the wrong bag. This happens, we all make mistakes. Customer service is to acknowledge a mistake, rectify it to the customers satisfaction and then compensate them. LA Orient/New Oriental clearly don’t understand this premise very well. If you go, collect only, check before you leave. If you do get delivery check at the door before handing over any cash and use the money to go to McDonalds.

Top Chinese takeaway Always excellent service and delicous meals

Don't know where Zoe comes from but I generaly call after snooker approx 10.30pm & the food is as good as 7.00pm when it is busy, is probably the best Chineese takaway ever, never - yes never in all the years that is has been open - I remember when it use to be John's! have i ever been disapointed and yes the front of staff change but they are always so pleasant.

Went in at 10.10pm. Received warmed up food. Welcome was cold and felt like I was inconveniencing them. If they don't want to serve at that time then review the opening hours. A smile costs nothing. Food was OK

It took nearly 2 hours for delivery got my order wrong and staff were quite rude when queried. Won't be going again and I won't be recommending it.

Friendly and good vegetarian food

Been going to this chinese every so often for the past 15 years. The service is promt and friendly and the food is by far the best I have had from other take-outs anywhere nearby. I constantly recommend this place to people I know.

I have orderd food from new Orient. I have found the staff to be so rude and the food has not been fit for human consumption. Also they have got the orders wrong after repeating myself three to four times whilst in the shop but over the phone has been worst. I asked to complain to a manager but nobody there seems to know who the manager is or who pays their wages hummmmm ??? Also I have asked for a receipt on numerous occasions but the answer I got was ‘what takeaway gives receipts out’. I wonder if the hmrc would be interested in this. Also if I was able to give this no stars I would.

Tastiest Chinese food you could imagine. I have recently moved to the area and I can tell you it beats any other place I have tried hands down also the waiting time is nearly non existent! Go La Orient!! Love it

Cleanest Chinese going and the food is amazing! Don't let anyone put you off, I've eaten here all my life and never once been disappointed no other place matches it. I also work here as a driver and it is beyond spotless inside and always has been, the boss makes sure it is kept on top of. Deserves 5 star food hygiene rating! The place has recently been thoroughly cleaned, even tho it was immaculate anyway. About the "cockroaches" it was literally a few bugs tiny ones under the microwave could of happened to any place, they obviously have now been completely eradicated and the workers are staying on top of it. I can assure people they will never let it happen again.. If you don't want to order from here because of that - alls I can say is it's your loss, because you won't find Chinese food as good anywhere, the service time is literally almost instant. You walk in are served in record time and are back out again. Staff are always nice. La Orient = 10/10

Given a 1star hygiene rating in 2015 now fined £1700 for a cockroach infestation, not the sort of place I will be getting my takeaway from. Yuk

i have used this Chinese a lot of times i have been let down on numerous occassions promised delivery time .then ring up to ask were order is they play dumb blame driver for late delivery then give another 40 to an hr time for delivery in other words they hav,nt cooked the first order ...avoid this Chinese if your hungry ya might be waiting for a very time time for your meal ....NEVER going to use this Chinese again ...and the way they treat their customers i hope they go bankrupt

This has to be one of the finest chinese takeaways if not THE BEST in the Wigan area, food is always of the finest calibre, highly recommend.

Couldn't ask for a better Chinese takeaway. The food is amazingly tastey, by far the best I have eaten from and never had a problem with orders or delivery. Highly recommended.
