Wentworth Garden Centre in Rotherham

It gets very busy so you have to be there for opening if you want a good look around

Always a great day at Wentworth Gardens centre. The only negative comment and why it's a 4 instead of a 5 star review is because they can not handle busy periods of time. Never enough seating, never enough options for food etc .. and so lots of people leave to go home as lunch isn't an option. It's a shame.

Great place to visit gorgeous food (must book to ensure table) lovely unusual gifts. Well worth a visit for a thing Christmas.

It's a lovely place to visit but it was so busy!!

Garden centre was nice & the shop had loads in, not as much Halloween stuff a I’d have liked for the season, loads of Christmas stuff instead Queue for the cafe took 40 mins in total, went to queue back up for dessert, gave up as the queue was taking too long Still a lovely day out though & the fresh markets outside were great

Garden Centre is good. Bit of a pity that you have to pay extra to look at gardens. Car park gets very crowded and everything seemed a tad expensive but I suppose that can be said for all of them!

Finally visited the 'Bothy' this morning 😀 Nice stroll up from Thorpe...Had the Gamekeepers breakfast with Black pudding - Scrumdillyumptious 😋 My sister had a slice of cake (which I also sampled - Beaut 🙂) Then bagged a Cherry Scone for myself to take home! Delicious 👌

Great garden centre with gift shops and a fab tea room . Bought some great roses .

Would be a much higher review if the ques weren't as long food was lovely.

Lovley cafe and play area for kids. The farm is small but has a great Halloween set up each year.

We live a few miles away but go most weeks for the very good coffee. Most of the food is very good the bothy resteraunt is excellent all round. Gardens are nice and the children are well catered for with either a small free play area or pay for use petting zoo. All staff are very courtious. Large car park and nice local walks around the village and Woodhouse.

Amazing place to go for Christmas Decorations

Really nice place to go, love the Christmas part of the garden centre and my little one loves the farm and play areas and the pet centre is really nice too a bit cramped especially at weekends. The restaurant is expensive so haven’t used it very much as I don’t think it’s worth the prices.

It's a lovely place, we love the farm and having a walk around. Only thing that slightly lets it down for myself Is the shops layout, I never know which way to go, it's usually always busy and there's so many tables and displays of things to buy it can feel very crowded.

Great food and the shop has everything, I really enjoyed my afternoon there.

Went for a bits to eat with parents and sister yesterday,the staff in the restaurant were very rude , every thing was to much trouble for them ,dirty tables ,had to move pots to get clean table ,to much trouble to get a tray from staff ,no hello , enjoy,please thank you heads down when serving ,and banging ,im sorry but manners cost noting ,and a please and thanks you ,to busy talking to each other ,smile 😁 it cost noting Poor very rude staff???????

Always busy lots to see especially at Xmas food okay

Very well laid out lots of other stuff there to see not just plants etc plenty of decor pictures dried flowers etc there a nice play area for the children with animals for them to see a nice cafe in fact there’s a restaurant meal place two well worth the visit you wouldn’t be disappointed going there , I recently bought a picture from there

This place is very reasonably priced for a really busy tourist attraction, very impressed! Had the Wentworth tart and an almond cake on first visit, gorgeous fat whoppers both!!!! First visit was on a Sunday and it was busy, went again today, Monday it was still really busy 😆 but had to have another go at a Wentworth tart. I'm not a pudding person but they are ace. Bought a hat for 18.00 in gift shop which also has some reasonably priced items in it.

July 2020 Very nice place with a lovely walk around the gardens. It costs £1.75 and you need cash, not card. Plenty of plants and trees for sale. The cafe sells the usual items you would expect. Parking is free and can get quite busy, but it's easy to find a spot. Pram friendly the whole way around. **Update September 2024** Excellent experience again, so much more this time around as the last time we visited was during COVID. Enjoyed a cuppa and a cake in the cafe. My daughter enjoyed the farm and the fish very much. It was busy but manageable. Managed to get parked easily enough. It was a very wet day when we went, so we were unable to make use of the park, but it looked brilliant. Will be back soon.

What a surprise! Visiting the area and family members suggested this lovely garden centre. Each part is designed so well. Pricing very fair against similar places. Lots to see and do. Worth a visit.

i phoned the houseplant section this morning to ask if they had a particular plant I was after and a man was very helpful and informed me of several varieties I would be able to choose, so I visited today, and sure enough there was a wonderful selection which I haven’t been able to find elsewhere. The lady working there was knowledgeable and packaged my purchases securely. Thank you for giving me a lovely visit.

Lovely place to visit. Hidden gem! Such beautiful gardens, lovely restaurants, shops, garden centre, and friendly staff. Absolutely stunning. If you are looking for a peaceful afternoon or for spending time with family and friends; this is the place to go.

Nice place, the cafes cakes are amazing however takes forever to order one, not a lot of staff serving for the amount of people there. Bought a scarf from the shop and got home to realise the security tag hadn't been taken off its 40 minutes for me to go back so that's really annoying

It's a very busy place... parking is a headache.. staff are very friendly, lots of things to buy.. lots of food outlets on site.. personally we were only visiting the area so we were unable to buy plants at the time as it was a long journey home in the back of the car wouldn't have done the plants any favours.. but overall it's a lovely place to visit..

Really nice, well organised, massive car park, great food, playground for the kids, dog friendly.

Great place for everyone and all ages. We took my elderly (wobbly) in-laws, and they managed the shop, the cafe, and a walk around all the plants for sale. There are lots of family based activities here during school holidays, a huge car park and everything is reasonably priced.

This is a lovely place for a day out beautiful gardens two nice restaurants well equipped shop selling lots of things for your house and garden a pet shop there's also a small farm for the little one's with a play area and the village is really nice

Lovely place, my granddaughter loves the sand and playground in the farm area.

One of my favourite places to visit! We come several times a year, but especially like the dinosaur trail with my children aged 6&10, and their niece, 2. We easily spend a whole day here, starting in the farm, then the sandpit and huge pirate ship! Then we have lunch, wander into the walled garden, then head back for ice cream and coffee and check out the garden centre on the way out! Farm is very reasonably priced and very clean.

I think prices could be a bit cheaper as it's a small farm

Always a great day out walking round and having food in cafe. I've took lots of photos to remember the experience with my mum. Would defo tell family and friends to go themselves to have a nice walk around to see everything, even to the church close by.

Nice day out with the grandchildren looking at dinosaurs. They loved it, but some of the gardens are not very pushchair friendly. The restaurant was nice and food good. Didn't get to see everything, but there's time.

It's OK bit on the expensive side. Went to small takeaway cafe near the ladies toilets gad jacket potatoe and tuna. Was not very good no salad with it. 1 spoonful of tuna jacket was all soggy in the out side bit dry on the inside. For 2 jackets 2 drinks it was £14. Nit going there again. Went to veg man outside and he is expensive his produce looks nice but not home grown. Didn't buy anything. Shop was busy but again they know how to charge. But nice to walk around.

Really lovely garden centre, I would say you could spend all day here. Lovely old English gardens complete with a hedge maze. Enjoyed visiting and feeding the farm animals and the cafe/tea rooms is absolutely scrumptious!! Beautiful homemade meals and cakes that will blow your mind.

Always a lovely place to visit, there was a dinosaur hunt on which is great for the kids whilst I enjoy following them around having fun 😊 gardens are lovely and always pristine.

One of the best garden centres around. So much to see. If you have small children, there is a little zoo with a lovely play area. Very reasonable entry fee. 3 different cafes/restaurants. Walled garden with a maze. So much to see in the shop. Definitely worth a visit.

Get there early! We arrived at 10.30 am and the enormous car park was almost full. It might have been time of year, though, as it was tail end of Easter Holidays, so they still had the easter egg hunt on. Wentworth is not just a typical garden centre. It also has a cafe, a bistro and a deli, a family farm, a playground, and historical gardens, which includes a small maze. We visited the historical gardens (£2.75 for adults, £2 concessions & kids). The maze is small, but it's a bit of fun, and the rest of the gardens were lovely. I'm sure they will look stunning in the summer months. There are a few quirky features in the gardens, which made it interesting. We had lunch at The Walled Garden cafe. For 2 coffees, it was £7. We both had quiche of the day with potatoes & salad. At £9 (approx), we felt we had a good portion of food, and it was served to the table hot We both enjoyed our lunch. There were various options of sandwiches and cooked meals available as well as afternoon tea. The cafe/restaurant is self-serve, but hot food is brought to your table. It's a large venue with an outdoor terrace for the warmer months. Although The Bothy looked very nice, we both felt there were more options at The Walled Garden cafe restaurant at more reasonable prices. The deli can be found at the courtyard where takeaway food is available. Seating is outside but under a covered area (like a giant gazebo). I believe they are doing additional work to increase the size of the deli. For those with kids, there are two playground areas (one is a boat and the other, I think, was a climbing frame of sorts). They were being well used. I noticed the family petting farm was next door to the playground, and entry was by ticket (purchases at the farm). The garden shop and gift area had a lot to offer. In a separate building, there was also an aquatic centre for water features and all things to do with ponds. It's definitely a place to go with or without children as there is plenty to do for everyone.

A great place to visit for a few hours. We did the dinosaur trail. Well organised and perfect for our 2, 3 yr olds. The shop and garden centre are full of great things to buy. We love to dine in the Bothy. Which offers table service with delicious food. The court yard is great for a snack on a nice day.

First time visiting the garden centre today and it definitely didn't disappoint! Special thank you to the lady with the indoor plants, she was very helpful and full of information. Would definitely recommend!

Nice garden centre to walk around, they have a few pay to enter points but wasn’t too expensive. I would recommend coming early as it can get quite busy.

W. O. W.! This place is enormous, it was about half 2 we arrived. The parking lot was jam packed, the restaurant/canteen is to die for! I saw beautifully crafted meringues with cream and fruit which I didnt get to sample. The staff are efficient, friendly and know how to keep a line moving. Marvelous place. Its huge and my little short visit didnt do it justice.

This is the first time we've visited the garden centre and will not be the last. We had an excellent lunch at the Walled Garden Restaurant and were extremely impressed with the excellent quality of the food. The garden centre is not part of any chain and all the food is freshly prepared every day and locally sourced where possible.

Used to be a five. It's still nice, but needs a refresh and really needs to remember that it's a garden centre. Plant selection is woeful, but they've got eight varieties of cream scone and trowels in every colour under the sun.

It was great my son loved it finding the dinosaurs, my wife loved the flowers and massive variety of plants worth it if your kids love dinosaurs and the maze was good fun too

The best garden centre in the Rotherham area. The cafe is huge and serves a great selection of hot meals, cakes and drinks.

Garden was lovely, lots of hidden trails leading to interesting plants. Shop was a nightmare to navigate, kept ending up at dead ends, only saw one sign showing exit, hope there is never a fire because it would be difficult to find way out. Food at take away coffee bar was good, staff very friendly but difficult to view what was on offer as order point was before the cabinets where food was displayed. As a result we felt pressured to order before we had actually made a choice and we were conscious of the queue behind us.

Great family day out! We have taken all 5 of our little ones here on many occasions. They all love the animals, especially the chance to pet guinea pigs and baby chicks. Large play area with sand and climbing frames, and the chance of an ice-cream! Excellent.

Great experience with a large selection of plants and shrubs inside is a vast aray of gifts for women and men home and garden. With a selection of dining experiences from basic to high quality. Prices are high however you pay for what you get. Staff are helpful and friendly in all areas.

Fantastic place Loads to see and doo. Loads to purchases from seeds to garden tools, etc etc. Beware, costs more for an adult to enter the play areas than the child who will be playing in the play area.

One of the best garden centres I have visited, good selection of plants plus more garden centre type shopping than I can cope with. There is also an old,historic garden which may have been part of the nearby Wentworth Woodhouse Estate. This area is well worth the entrance fee and was very quiet and relaxing to walk around

Coffee and cake with the family. Atmosphere a little loud, could do with some soft furnishings to absorb the noise.

Nice place to visit not too far from Sheffield. The gift shop and the cafe are lovely. We have to pay for ticket to enter the garden but it is just a penny.

A very large excellent garden centre with a huge car park.The best I have seen.A must to visit.A beautiful cafe with queue busting two counters for drinks and cake or meals to eat in or out in a lovely seating area..A shop with everything you may to buy from gorgeous artifical life like flowers to soft furnishings and stationery, merchandised with flair and skill.Plus an extra addition of well set out gardens to visit for a small extra charge and a vast array of very tempting plants to buy.

A wonderful day out for the family. Animal handling, a small zoo for meeting bigger animals and feeding them. Also sit-on rides and a splendid climbing and playing area with sand. Take towels!

Great garden centre very good range of home and garden products at good prices, nice restaurants for a full meal or just a cream tea and snack .

Not enough attention being paid to the welfare of the animals and birds in 'the farm' area. Two peacocks in an unsuitable enclosure with no privacy and no access to free flow pasture. A tarantula sited in a vivarium in an especially busy through fare subject to continual disruption. Most of the animals appear to have no access to pasture land or privacy. Had to allocate one Star to enable Post.

Lunch date with my daughter's in Camelia House and a forest / gardens walk beautifully presented food by helpful staff Lovely friendly man on golf trolley who took us up as it was raining on way there service provided by the hall lovely touch ! Enjoyed the day

We were only there for a couple of hours because we had spent most it the day at wentworth Woodhouse. We are going to go back soon so we can spend more time looking round the historic garden. The garden centre itself had a great selection of plants at a price much like anywhere else.

Really nice garden centre. The cafe food was delicious. The little farm was nice for children and the playground inside the farm was really good. The gardens were nice but not wheelchair/pushchair friendly. Had I known, I wouldn’t have paid to go into the gardens.
